1 Wọ̀nyí ni ìran Esau, ẹni tí a ń pè ní Edomu.
(Here is/I will now give you) a list of the descendants of Esau, whose other name was Edom.
2 Nínú àwọn ọmọbìnrin Kenaani ni Esau ti fẹ́ àwọn ìyàwó rẹ̀: Adah ọmọbìnrin Eloni ará Hiti àti Oholibama, ọmọbìnrin Ana, ọmọ ọmọ Sibeoni ará Hifi.
Esau married three women from the Canaan region: Adah, the daughter of Elon from the Heth people-group; Oholibamah, who was the daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon from the Hiv people-group;
3 Ó sì tún fẹ́ Basemati ọmọ Iṣmaeli arábìnrin Nebaioti.
and Basemath, who was the daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
4 Adah bí Elifasi fún Esau, Basemati sì bí Reueli,
Esau’s wife Adah gave birth to Eliphaz. Basemath gave birth to Reuel.
5 Oholibama pẹ̀lú sì bí Jeuṣi, Jalamu, àti Kora. Àwọn wọ̀nyí ni ọmọ tí Esau bí ní Kenaani.
Oholibamah gave birth to Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. All these sons of Esau were born while he was living in the Canaan region.

Jacob and Esau had very many possessions. The result was that they needed more land for their livestock. The land where they were living was not big enough for both of them. They had too much livestock. So Esau, whose other name was Edom, had taken his wives and sons and daughters and all the other members of his household, his sheep and goats and his other animals, and all the other things he had obtained in Canaan land, and they had moved to an area that was away from Jacob.
7 Ohun ìní wọn pọ̀ ju èyí tí àwọn méjèèjì lè máa gbé ní ojú kan lọ. Ilẹ̀ tí wọ́n wà kò le gba àwọn méjèèjì nítorí àwọn ohun ọ̀sìn wọn.

They went to live in the Seir hilly area.
9 Èyí ni ìran Esau baba àwọn ará Edomu ní àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè olókè Seiri.
(Here is/I will now give you) another list of the male descendants of Esau. He was the ancestor of the Edom people-group who live in the Seir area.
10 Wọ̀nyí ni orúkọ àwọn ọmọ Esau: Elifasi ọmọ Adah aya Esau àti Reueli, ọmọ Basemati tí í ṣe aya Esau pẹ̀lú.
Esau’s wife Adah gave birth to Eliphaz, and Esau’s wife Basemath gave birth to Reuel.
11 Àwọn ọmọ Elifasi ni ìwọ̀nyí: Temani, Omari, Sefi, Gatamu, àti Kenasi.
The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.
12 Elifasi ọmọ Esau sì tún ní àlè tí a ń pè ní Timna pẹ̀lú, òun ló bí Amaleki fún un. Wọ̀nyí ni àwọn ọmọ ọmọ Adah aya Esau.
Esau’s son Eliphaz also had a (concubine/female slave whom he took as a secondary wife). Her name was Timna. She gave birth to Amalek. Those six men were grandsons of Esau’s wife Adah.
13 Àwọn ọmọ Reueli: Nahati, Sera, Ṣamma àti Missa. Àwọn ni ọmọ ọmọ Basemati aya Esau.
Reuel’s sons were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. They were grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.
14 Wọ̀nyí ni àwọn ọmọ Oholibama ọmọbìnrin Ana ọmọ ọmọ Sibeoni: tí ó bí fún Esau: Jeuṣi, Jalamu àti Kora.
Esau’s wife Oholibamah, who was the daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon, gave birth to three sons: Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
15 Àwọn wọ̀nyí ni olórí nínú àwọn ọmọ Esau: àwọn ọmọ Elifasi, àkọ́bí Esau, Temani, Omari, Sefi, Kenasi,
(Here is/I will now give you) a list of the people-groups who were descendants of Esau. His oldest son Eliphaz was the ancestor of the Teman people-group, the Omar people-group, the Zepho people-group, the Kenaz people-group,
16 Kora, Gatamu àti Amaleki. Àwọn wọ̀nyí ló jẹ́ olórí ìdílé tí ó ti ọ̀dọ̀ Elifasi ní Edomu wá, wọ́n jẹ́ ọmọ ọmọ Adah.
the Korah people-group, the Gatam people-group, and the Amalek people-group. They were descendants of Eliphaz and of Esau’s wife Adah. They lived in the Edom region.
17 Wọ̀nyí sì ni àwọn ọmọ Esau, ọmọ Rueli: Nahati olórí, Sera olórí, Ṣamma olórí, Missa olórí. Àwọn wọ̀nyí ló jẹ́ olórí ìdílé tí ó ti ọ̀dọ̀ Reueli jáde ní Edomu. Ọmọ ọmọ Basemati aya Esau ni wọ́n jẹ́.
The sons of Esau’s son Reuel were ancestors of the Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah people-groups. They were descended from Esau’s wife Basemath. They also lived in Edom.
18 Àwọn ọmọ Oholibama aya Esau: Jeuṣi, Jalamu, àti Kora, àwọn wọ̀nyí ló jẹ́ olórí ìdílé tí ó ti ọ̀dọ̀ Oholibama ọmọ Ana, ìyàwó Esau wá.
The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah, whose mother was Anah, were ancestors of the Jeush, Jalam, and Korah people-groups.
19 Àwọn wọ̀nyí ni ọmọ Esau (ti o túmọ̀ sí Edomu). Àwọn wọ̀nyí ni olórí wọn.
That is the list of the sons of Esau, and the people-groups who were their descendants.
20 Wọ̀nyí ni àwọn ọmọ Seiri ará Hori tí ó ń gbé ní ilẹ̀ náà: Lotani, Ṣobali, Sibeoni, Ana,
(This is/I will now give you) a list of the descendants of Seir, who belonged to the Hor people-group, who were the first people-group who lived in the Edom region: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
21 Diṣoni, Eseri, àti Diṣani, àwọn wọ̀nyí olórí ènìyàn Hori, àwọn ọmọ Seiri ni ilẹ̀ Edomu.
Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. Those seven men became ancestors of people-groups. Each of the people-groups had the same name as the name of their ancestor.
22 Àwọn ọmọ Lotani: Hori àti Homamu: Timna sì ni arábìnrin Lotani.
The sons of Lotan were Hori and Heman and Lotan’s sister was Timna.
23 Àwọn ọmọ Ṣobali: Alifani, Manahati, Ebali, Ṣefo àti Onamu.
The sons of Shobal were Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.
24 Àwọn ọmọ Sibeoni: Aiah àti Ana. Èyí ni Ana tí ó rí ìsun omi gbígbóná ní inú aginjù bí ó ti ń da àwọn kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ Ṣebeoni baba rẹ̀.
The sons of Zibeon were Aiah and Anah. This Anah was the one who discovered the hot springs in the desert while he was taking care of his father Zibeon’s donkeys.
25 Wọ̀nyí ni àwọn ọmọ Ana: Diṣoni àti Oholibama ọmọbìnrin Ana.
Anah had two children—a son named Dishon and a daughter named Oholibamah.
26 Àwọn ọmọ Diṣoni ni: Hemdani, Eṣbani, Itrani àti Kerani.
Dishon’s sons were Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Keran.
27 Àwọn ọmọ Eseri: Bilhani, Saafani àti Akani.
Ezer’s sons were Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.
28 Àwọn ọmọ Diṣani ni: Usi àti Arani.
Dishan’s sons were Uz and Aran.
29 Àwọn wọ̀nyí ni olórí ìdílé Hori: Lotani, Ṣobali, Sibeoni, Ana,
The people-groups who were descendants of Hor lived in the Seir/Edom region. The names of the people-groups are Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.
30 Diṣoni Eseri, àti Diṣani. Àwọn ni olórí ìdílé àwọn ará Hori gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìpín wọn ní ilẹ̀ Seiri.
31 Àwọn wọ̀nyí ni ọba tí ó jẹ ní Edomu kí ó tó di pé ọba kankan jẹ lórí Israẹli:
These are the names of the kings who ruled in Edom before any kings ruled over Israel.
32 Bela ọmọ Beori jẹ ní Edomu. Orúkọ ìlú rẹ̀ ni Dinhaba.
Beor’s son Bela became the first king in Edom. The city where he lived was named Dinhabah.
33 Nígbà tí Bela kú, Jobabu ọmọ Sera ti Bosra sì jẹ ọba ní ipò rẹ̀.
When Bela died, Zerah’s son Jobab/became the king. He was from Bozrah [city].
34 Nígbà tí Jobabu kú, Huṣamu láti ilẹ̀ Temani sì jẹ ọba ní ipò rẹ̀.
When Jobab died, Husham became the king. He was from the region where the Teman people-group lived.
35 Nígbà tí Huṣamu kú, Hadadi ọmọ Bedadi tí ó kọlu Midiani ní ìgbẹ́ Moabu, ó sì jẹ ọba ní ipò rẹ̀. Orúkọ ìlú rẹ̀ ni Afiti.
When Husham died, Bedad’s son Hadan became the king. Husham’s army fought the army of the Midian people-group in the Moab region and defeated them. The city where Husham lived was Avith.
36 Nígbà tí Hadadi sì kú, Samla láti Masreka, ó sì jẹ ọba ní ipò rẹ̀.
When Hadad died, Samlah became the king. He was from Masrekah [town].
37 Samla sì kú, Saulu ti Rehoboti, létí odò sì jẹ ọba ní ipò rẹ̀.
When Samlah died, Shaul became the king. He was from Rehoboth [town] along the [Euphrates] river.
38 Nígbà tí Saulu kú, Baali-Hanani ọmọ Akbori jẹ ọba ní ipò rẹ̀.
When Shaul died, Achbor’s son Baal-Hanan became king.
39 Nígbà tí Baali-Hanani ọmọ Akbori kú, Hadadi ni ó jẹ ọba ní ipò rẹ̀. Orúkọ ìlú rẹ̀ ni Pau, orúkọ ìyàwó sì ni Mehetabeeli ọmọbìnrin Matiredi, ọmọbìnrin Mesahabu.
When Achbor’s son Baal-Hanan died, Hadad became king. The city where he lived was named Pau. His wife’s name was Mehetabel. She was the daughter of Matred, who was the daughter of Me-Zahab.
40 Àwọn wọ̀nyí ni orúkọ àwọn baálẹ̀ tí ó ti ọ̀dọ̀ Esau jáde wá, ní orúkọ ìdílé wọn, bí ìpínlẹ̀ wọn ti rí: baálẹ̀ Timna, baálẹ̀ Alfa, baálẹ̀ Jeteti.
(Here is/I will now give you) a list of all the people-groups that were descendants of Esau: Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, Magdiel, and Iram. They all lived in the Edom region. The land where each people-group lived got the same name as the name of the people-group.
41 Baálẹ̀ Oholibama, baálẹ̀ Ela, baálẹ̀ Pinoni,
42 baálẹ̀ Kenasi, baálẹ̀ Temani, baálẹ̀ Mibsari,
43 Magdieli, àti Iramu. Àwọn wọ̀nyí ni baálẹ̀ Edomu, gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọn ti tẹ̀dó sí ilẹ̀ tí wọ́n gbà. Èyí ni Esau baba àwọn ará Edomu.
