< Galatians 5 >

1 Nítorí náà, ẹ dúró ṣinṣin nínú òmìnira náà èyí tí Kristi fi sọ wá di òmìnira, kí ẹ má sì ṣe tún fi ọrùn bọ̀ àjàgà ẹrú mọ́.
It is for freedom that Christ set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not again be held under the yoke of slavery.
2 Kíyèsi i, èmi Paulu ni ó wí fún yín pé, bí a bá kọ yín nílà abẹ́, Kristi kì yóò lérè fún yín ní ohunkóhun.
Understand that I, Paul, myself tell you that if you allow yourselves to be circumcised, Christ will avail you nothing.
3 Mo sì tún sọ fún olúkúlùkù ènìyàn tí a kọ ní ilà pé, ó di ajigbèsè láti pa gbogbo òfin mọ́.
I again declare to everyone who receives circumcision, that he binds himself to obey the whole Law.
4 A ti yà yín kúrò lọ́dọ̀ Kristi, ẹ̀yin tí ń fẹ́ kí a dá yín láre nípa òfin; pé ẹ ti ṣubú kúrò nínú oore-ọ̀fẹ́.
You have severed yourselves from Christ – you who are seeking to be pronounced righteous through Law; you have fallen away from love.
5 Nítorí nípa Ẹ̀mí àwa ń fi ìgbàgbọ́ dúró de ìrètí òdodo.
For we, by the help of the Spirit, are eagerly waiting for the fulfillment of our hope – that we may be pronounced righteous as the result of faith.
6 Nítorí nínú Kristi Jesu, ìkọlà kò jẹ́ ohun kan, tàbí àìkọlà; ṣùgbọ́n ìgbàgbọ́ ti ń ṣiṣẹ́ nípa ìfẹ́.
If we are in union with Christ Jesus, neither is circumcision nor the omission of it anything, but faith, working through love, is everything.
7 Ẹ̀yin ti ń sáré dáradára. Ta ni dí yin lọ́wọ́ láti ṣe ìgbọ́ràn sí òtítọ́?
You were once making good progress! Who has hindered you from obeying the truth?
8 Ìyípadà yìí kò ti ọ̀dọ̀ ẹni tí ó pè yín wá.
The persuasion brought to bear on you does not come from him who calls you.
9 Ìwúkàrà díẹ̀ ní í mú gbogbo ìyẹ̀fun wú.
A little yeast leavens all the dough.
10 Mo ní ìgbẹ́kẹ̀lé sí yín nínú Olúwa pé, ẹ̀yin kì yóò ní èrò ohun mìíràn; ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ń yọ yín lẹ́nu yóò ru ìdájọ́ tirẹ̀, ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó wù kí ó jẹ́.
I, through my union with the Lord, am persuaded that you will learn to think with me. But the man who is disturbing your minds will have to bear his punishment, whoever he may be.
11 Ṣùgbọ́n, ará, bí èmi bá ń wàásù ìkọlà síbẹ̀, kín ni ìdí tí a fi ń ṣe inúnibíni sí mi síbẹ̀? Ǹjẹ́ ìkọ̀sẹ̀ àgbélébùú ti kúrò.
If I, friends, am still proclaiming circumcision, why am I still persecuted? It seems that the cross has ceased to be an obstacle!
12 Èmi ìbá fẹ́ kí àwọn tí ń yọ yín lẹ́nu tilẹ̀ gé ẹ̀yà ara wọn kan kúrò.
I could even wish that the people who are unsettling you would go further still and mutilate themselves.
13 Nítorí a ti pè yín sí òmìnira, ará kìkì pé kí ẹ má ṣe lo òmìnira yín bí àǹfààní sípa ti ara, ṣùgbọ́n ẹ máa fi ìfẹ́ sin ọmọnìkejì yín.
Remember, friends, to you the call came to give you freedom. Only, do not make your freedom an opportunity for self-indulgence but serve one another in a loving spirit.
14 Nítorí pé a kó gbogbo òfin já nínú èyí pé, “Ìwọ fẹ́ ọmọnìkejì rẹ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ara rẹ.”
Indeed, the whole Law has been summed up in this one precept – ‘You must love your neighbor as you love yourself.’
15 Ṣùgbọ́n bí ẹ̀yin bá ń bu ara yín ṣán, tí ẹ sì ń jẹ ara yín run, ẹ kíyèsára kí ẹ má ṣe pa ara yín run.
But, if you are continually wounding and preying on one another, take care that you are not destroyed by one another.
16 Ǹjẹ́ mo ní, ẹ máa rìn nípa ti Ẹ̀mí, ẹ̀yin kì yóò sì mú ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀ẹ́ ti ara ṣẹ.
This is what I have to say – Let your steps be guided by the Spirit, and then you will never gratify the cravings of your earthly nature.
17 Nítorí ti ara ń ṣe ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀ẹ́ lòdì sí Ẹ̀mí, àti Ẹ̀mí lòdì sí ara, àwọn wọ̀nyí sì lòdì sí ara wọn; kí ẹ má ba à lè ṣe ohun tí ẹ̀yin ń fẹ́.
For these cravings of our earthly nature conflict with the Spirit, and the Spirit with our earthly nature – they are two contrary principles – so that you cannot do what you wish.
18 Ṣùgbọ́n bí a bá ń ti ọwọ́ Ẹ̀mí ṣamọ̀nà yín, ẹ̀yin kò sí lábẹ́ òfin.
But, if you follow the guidance of the Spirit, you are not subject to Law.
19 Ǹjẹ́ àwọn iṣẹ́ tí ara farahàn, tí í ṣe wọ̀nyí; panṣágà, àgbèrè, ìwà èérí, wọ̀bìà,
The sins of our earthly nature are unmistakable. They are sins like these – sexual immorality, impurity, indecency,
20 Ìbọ̀rìṣà, oṣó, ìkórìíra, ìjà, ìlara, ìbínú, ìmọ-tara-ẹni nìkan, ìyapa, ẹ̀kọ́ òdì.
idolatry, sorcery, quarrels, strife, jealousy, outbursts of passion, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,
21 Àrankàn, ìpànìyàn, ìmutípara, ìréde òru, àti irú ìwọ̀nyí; àwọn ohun tí mo ń wí fún yín tẹ́lẹ̀, gẹ́gẹ́ bí mo ti wí fún yín tẹ́lẹ̀ rí pé, àwọn tí ń ṣe nǹkan báwọ̀nyí kì yóò jogún ìjọba Ọlọ́run.
feelings of envy, drunkenness, revelry, and the like. And I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who indulge in such things will have no place in the kingdom of God.
22 Ṣùgbọ́n èso ti Ẹ̀mí ni ìfẹ́, ayọ̀, àlàáfíà, ìpamọ́ra, ìwà pẹ̀lẹ́, ìṣoore, ìgbàgbọ́,
But the fruit produced by the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindliness, generosity, trustfulness, gentleness, self-control.
23 ìwà tútù, àti ìkóra-ẹni níjanu, òfin kan kò lòdì sí irú wọ̀nyí,
Against such things there is no law!
24 Àwọn tí í ṣe ti Kristi Jesu ti kan ara wọn mọ́ àgbélébùú pẹ̀lú ìfẹ́ àti ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀ẹ́ rẹ̀.
And those who belong to Jesus, the Christ, have already crucified their earthly nature, with its passions and its cravings.
25 Bí àwa bá wà láààyè sípa ti Ẹ̀mí, ẹ jẹ́ kí a sì máa rìn nípa ti Ẹ̀mí.
Since our life is due to the Spirit, let us rule our conduct also by the Spirit.
26 Ẹ má ṣe jẹ́ kí a máa ṣe ògo asán, kí a má mú ọmọnìkejì wa bínú, kí a má ṣe ìlara ọmọnìkejì wa.
Do not let us grow vain, and provoke or envy one another.
