1 Lẹ́yìn nǹkan wọ̀nyí, ní àkókò ìjọba ọba Artasasta ní Persia, Esra ọmọ Seraiah, ọmọ Asariah, ọmọ Hilkiah,
Now after this, during the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra came up from Babylon. Ezra's ancestors were Seraiah, Azariah, Hilkiah,
2 ọmọ Ṣallumu, ọmọ Sadoku, ọmọ Ahitubu,
Shallum, Zadok, Ahitub,
3 ọmọ Amariah, ọmọ Asariah, ọmọ Meraioti,
Amariah, Azariah, Meraioth,
4 ọmọ Serahiah, ọmọ Ussi, ọmọ Bukki,
Zerahiah, Uzzi, Bukki,
5 ọmọ Abiṣua, ọmọ Finehasi, ọmọ Eleasari, ọmọ Aaroni olórí àlùfáà—
Abishua, Phinehas, Eleazar, who was son of Aaron the high priest.
6 Esra yìí sì gòkè wá láti Babeli. Olùkọ́ tí ó ní ìmọ̀ ìjìnlẹ̀ nípa òfin Mose, èyí tí Olúwa, Ọlọ́run Israẹli, ti fi fún wọn. Ọba sì fi gbogbo ohun tí ó béèrè fún un, nítorí ọwọ́ Olúwa Ọlọ́run wà lára rẹ̀.
Ezra came up from Babylon and he was a skilled scribe in the law of Moses that Yahweh, the God of Israel, had given. The king gave him anything he asked since the hand of Yahweh was with him.
7 Ní ọdún keje ọba Artasasta díẹ̀ lára àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, àwọn àlùfáà, àwọn ọmọ Lefi, àwọn akọrin, àwọn aṣọ́nà àti àwọn tí ń ṣiṣẹ́ nínú tẹmpili náà gòkè wá sí Jerusalẹmu.
Some of the descendants of Israel and the priests, Levites, temple singers, gatekeepers, and those assigned to serve in the temple also went up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes.
8 Ní oṣù karùn-ún ọdún keje ọba yìí ni Esra dé sí Jerusalẹmu.
He arrived in Jerusalem in the fifth month of the same year.
9 Ó bẹ̀rẹ̀ ìrìnàjò rẹ̀ láti Babeli ní ọjọ́ kìn-ín-ní oṣù kìn-ín-ní, ó sì dé Jerusalẹmu ní ọjọ́ kìn-ín-ní oṣù karùn-ún nítorí ọwọ́ àánú Ọlọ́run rẹ̀ wà ní ara rẹ̀.
He left Babylon on the first day of the first month. It was on the first day of the fifth month that he arrived in Jerusalem, since the good hand of God was with him.
10 Esra ti fi ara rẹ̀ jì fún kíkọ́ àti pípa òfin Olúwa mọ́, ó sì ń kọ́ òfin àti ìlànà Mose ní Israẹli.
Ezra had established his heart to study, carry out, and teach the statutes and decrees of the law of Yahweh.
11 Èyí ni ẹ̀dà lẹ́tà ti ọba Artasasta fún àlùfáà Esra olùkọ́ni, ẹni tó ní ìmọ̀ ìjìnlẹ̀ nínú àkọsílẹ̀ òfin àti ìlànà Olúwa fún Israẹli.
This was the decree that King Artaxerxes gave Ezra the priest and scribe of Yahweh's commandments and statutes for Israel:
12 Artasasta, ọba àwọn ọba. Sí àlùfáà Esra, olùkọ́ òfin Ọlọ́run ọ̀run. Àlàáfíà.
“The King of kings Artaxerxes, to the priest Ezra, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven:
13 Mo pàṣẹ pé ẹnikẹ́ni nínú àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, àwọn àlùfáà àti àwọn Lefi, ti ó wà ní abẹ́ ìṣàkóso ìjọba mi, tí ó bá fẹ́ láti bá ọ lọ sí Jerusalẹmu lè tẹ̀lé ọ lọ.
I am ordering that anyone from Israel in my kingdom along with their priests and Levites who desires to go to Jerusalem, may go with you.
14 Ọba àti àwọn ìgbìmọ̀ rẹ̀ méjèèje rán ọ lọ láti wádìí nípa òfin Ọlọ́run rẹ tí ó wà ní ọwọ́ rẹ nípa Juda àti Jerusalẹmu.
I, the king, and my seven counselors, send you all out to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem according to God's law, which is in your hand.
15 Síwájú sí i, kí ìwọ kí ó kó fàdákà àti wúrà lọ pẹ̀lú rẹ èyí tí ọba àti àwọn ìgbìmọ̀ rẹ fi tọkàntọkàn fún Ọlọ́run Israẹli, ẹni tí ibùjókòó rẹ̀ wà ní Jerusalẹmu,
You are to bring the silver and gold that they have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose dwelling is in Jerusalem.
16 pẹ̀lú gbogbo fàdákà àti wúrà tí ìwọ lè rí ní agbègbè ìjọba Babeli àti àwọn ọrẹ àtinúwá àwọn ènìyàn àti ti àwọn àlùfáà fún tẹmpili Ọlọ́run wọn ní Jerusalẹmu.
Freely give all the silver and gold that all of Babylon has given along with what is freely offered by the people and the priests for the house of God in Jerusalem.
17 Pẹ̀lú owó yìí, rí i dájú pé ó ra àwọn akọ màlúù, àwọn àgbò àti akọ ọ̀dọ́-àgùntàn, pẹ̀lú ọrẹ ohun jíjẹ, àti ọrẹ ohun mímu, kí ìwọ kí ó fi wọ́n rú ẹbọ lórí pẹpẹ tẹmpili Ọlọ́run rẹ ní Jerusalẹmu.
So buy in full the oxen, rams and lambs, and grain and drink offerings. Offer them on the altar that is in the house of your God in Jerusalem.
18 Ìwọ àti àwọn Júù arákùnrin rẹ lè fi èyí tókù fàdákà àti wúrà ṣe ohunkóhun tí ó bá dára lójú yín, ní ìbámu pẹ̀lú ìfẹ́ Ọlọ́run yín.
Do with the rest of the silver and gold whatever seems good to you and your brothers, to please your God.
19 Kó gbogbo ohun èlò tí a fi sí ìkáwọ́ rẹ fún Ọlọ́run Jerusalẹmu fún ìsìn nínú tẹmpili Ọlọ́run rẹ.
Place the objects that were freely given to you before him for the service of the house of your God in Jerusalem.
20 Ohunkóhun mìíràn tí o bá nílò fún tẹmpili Ọlọ́run rẹ tí ó sì ní láti pèsè, o lè mú u láti inú ìṣúra ọba.
Anything else that is needed for the house of your God that you require, take its cost from my treasury.
21 Èmi, ọba Artasasta, pàṣẹ fún gbogbo olùtọ́jú ilé ìṣúra agbègbè Eufurate láìrójú láti pèsè ohunkóhun tí àlùfáà Esra, olùkọ́ni ní òfin Ọlọ́run ọ̀run bá béèrè lọ́wọ́ yín
I, King Artaxerxes, make a decree to all the treasurers in the Province Beyond the River, that anything that Ezra asks from you should be given in full,
22 tó ọgọ́rùn-ún kan tálẹ́ǹtì fàdákà, ọgọ́rùn-ún kan òsùwọ̀n àlìkámà, àti dé ọgọ́rùn-ún bati ọtí wáìnì, àti dé ọgọ́rùn-ún bati òróró olifi, àti ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ iyọ̀.
up to one hundred silver talents, one hundred cors of grain, one hundred baths of wine, and one hundred baths of oil, also salt without limit.
23 Ohunkóhun tí Ọlọ́run ọ̀run bá fẹ́, jẹ́ kí ó di ṣíṣe ní pípé fún tẹmpili Ọlọ́run ọ̀run. Èéṣe tí ìbínú yóò ṣe wá sí agbègbè ọba àti sí orí àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀?
Anything that comes from the decree of the God of Heaven, do it with devotion for his house. For why should his wrath come upon the kingdom of me and my sons?
24 Ìwọ sì ní láti mọ̀ pé ìwọ kò ní àṣẹ láti sọ sísan owó orí, owó òde tàbí owó bodè di dandan fún àwọn àlùfáà, àwọn Lefi, àwọn akọrin, àwọn aṣọ́nà, àwọn òṣìṣẹ́ tẹmpili tàbí àwọn òṣìṣẹ́ mìíràn nínú ilé Ọlọ́run yìí.
We are informing them about you not to impose any tribute or taxes on any of the priests, Levites, musicians, gatekeepers, or on the people assigned to the service of the temple and servants of the house of this God.
25 Ìwọ Esra, ní ìbámu pẹ̀lú ọgbọ́n Ọlọ́run rẹ̀, èyí tí ó ní, yan àwọn adájọ́ àgbà àti àwọn onídàájọ́ láti máa ṣe ìdájọ́ fún àwọn ènìyàn agbègbè Eufurate, gbogbo àwọn tí ó mọ òfin Ọlọ́run rẹ. Ìwọ yóò sì kọ́ ẹnikẹ́ni tí kò mọ̀ àwọn òfin náà.
Ezra, with the wisdom that God has given you, you must appoint judges and magistrates to judge all the people in the Province Beyond the River, and to serve all who know the laws of your God. You must also teach those who do not know the law.
26 Ẹnikẹ́ni tí kò bá ṣe ìgbọ́ràn sí òfin Ọlọ́run rẹ àti sí òfin ọba ní ó gbọdọ̀ kú tàbí kí a lé e jáde tàbí kí a gbẹ́sẹ̀ lé ẹrù rẹ̀ tàbí kí a sọ ọ́ sínú ẹ̀wọ̀n.
Punish anyone who does not fully obey God's law or the king's law, whether by death, banishment, confiscation of their goods, or imprisonment.
27 Olùbùkún ni Olúwa, Ọlọ́run àwọn baba wa, ẹni tí ó fi sí ọkàn ọba láti mú ọlá wá sí ilé Olúwa ní Jerusalẹmu ní ọ̀nà yìí.
Praise Yahweh, our ancestors' God, who placed all this into the king's heart to glorify Yahweh's house in Jerusalem,
28 Ẹni tí ó jẹ́ kí ojúrere rẹ̀ tàn kàn mí níwájú ọba àti àwọn olùbádámọ̀ràn àti ní iwájú àwọn alágbára ìjòyè ọba. Nítorí ọwọ́ Olúwa Ọlọ́run wà lára mi, mo mú ọkàn le, mo sì kó àwọn olórí jọ láàrín àwọn ènìyàn Israẹli láti gòkè lọ pẹ̀lú mi.
and who extended covenant faithfulness to me before the king, his counselors, and all his powerful officials. I have been strengthened by the hand of Yahweh my God, and I gathered leaders from Israel to go with me.
