< Ezra 10 >
1 Nígbà tí Esra ń gbàdúrà tí ó sì ń jẹ́wọ́, ti ó ń sọkún ti ó sì ń gbárayílẹ̀ níwájú ilé Ọlọ́run, ogunlọ́gọ̀ àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ọkùnrin, obìnrin àti àwọn ọmọdé pagbo yí i ká. Àwọn náà ń sọkún kíkorò.
As Ezra was praying and confessing sins, weeping and falling down on his face before God's Temple, a very large crowd of Israelites, men, women, and children, gathered around him. The people were weeping bitterly as well.
2 Nígbà náà ni Ṣekaniah ọmọ Jehieli, ọ̀kan lára ìran Elamu, sọ fún Esra pé, “Àwa ti jẹ́ aláìṣòótọ́ sí Ọlọ́run wa nípa fífẹ́ àwọn obìnrin àjèjì láàrín àwọn ènìyàn tí ó wà yí wa ká. Ṣùgbọ́n síbẹ̀ náà, ìrètí sì wà fún Israẹli
Shecaniah, son of Jehiel, an Elamite, said to Ezra: “Yes, we have been unfaithful to our God because we have married foreign women from the people of the land. But even so there is still hope for Israel over this.
3 Nísìnsinyìí, ẹ jẹ́ kí a dá májẹ̀mú níwájú Ọlọ́run wa láti lé àwọn obìnrin yìí àti àwọn ọmọ wọn lọ. Gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìmọ̀ràn Esra olúwa mi àti ti àwọn tí ó bẹ̀rù àṣẹ Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa. Ẹ jẹ́ kí a ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí òfin.
Let us make a solemn agreement right now before our God that we will send away all the foreign wives and their children. We will follow the directions given by you and those who respect the instructions of our God, carried out according to the Law.
4 Dìde, nítorí, ọ̀rọ̀ tìrẹ ni èyí. Gbogbo wà yóò wá pẹ̀lú rẹ, mú ọkàn le kí o sì ṣe é.”
Take action! It's your responsibility. We are with you. Be brave and do it!”
5 Nígbà náà ni Esra dìde, ó sì fi àwọn aṣíwájú àlùfáà àti àwọn ọmọ Lefi àti gbogbo Israẹli sí abẹ́ ìbúra, láti ṣe ohun tí wọ́n dá lábàá. Wọ́n sì búra.
So Ezra stood up and made the leading priests, Levites, and all the Israelites present take an oath to act on what had just been said. They all took the oath.
6 Nígbà náà ni Esra padà sẹ́yìn kúrò níwájú ilé Ọlọ́run, ó sì lọ sí iyàrá Jehohanani ọmọ Eliaṣibu. Nígbà tí ó wà níbẹ̀, kò jẹ oúnjẹ bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kò sì mu omi, nítorí ó sì ń káàánú fún àìṣòótọ́ àwọn ìgbèkùn.
Then Ezra left them in front of God's Temple, and went to the room of Jehohanan, son of Eliashib. During the time he stayed there, he didn't eat or drink anything, because he was still mourning the unfaithfulness of the exiles.
7 Ìkéde kan jáde lọ jákèjádò Juda àti Jerusalẹmu fún gbogbo àwọn ìgbèkùn láti péjọ sí Jerusalẹmu.
Then a proclamation was issued throughout Judah and Jerusalem that all the exiles should assemble in Jerusalem.
8 Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó ba kọ̀ láti jáde wá láàrín ọjọ́ mẹ́ta yóò pàdánù ohun ìní rẹ̀ ní ìbámu pẹ̀lú ìpinnu àwọn ìjòyè àti àwọn àgbàgbà, àti pé a ó lé òun fúnra rẹ̀ jáde kúrò láàrín ìpéjọpọ̀ àwọn ìgbèkùn.
Anyone who did not come within three days would have all their property confiscated, and would be banned from the assembly of the exiles. This was the decision of the leaders and elders.
9 Láàrín ọjọ́ mẹ́ta náà, gbogbo àwọn ọkùnrin Juda àti Benjamini tí péjọ sí Jerusalẹmu. Ní ogúnjọ́ oṣù kẹsànán, gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn jókòó sí ìta gbangba iwájú ilé Ọlọ́run, wọ́n wà nínú ìbànújẹ́ ńlá nítorí ọ̀ràn yìí, àti nítorí òjò púpọ̀ tó tì rọ̀.
Within three days, everyone from Judah and Benjamin assembled in Jerusalem. On the twentieth day of the ninth month, all the people sat in the square beside God's Temple, shivering because of this issue and also because of the heavy rain.
10 Nígbà náà ni àlùfáà Esra dìde, ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ̀yin ti ṣe àìṣòótọ́, ẹ ti fẹ́ obìnrin àjèjì, ẹ ti dá kún ẹ̀bi Israẹli.
Ezra the priest stood up and told them, “You have committed sin by marrying foreign women, making Israel's guilt even worse.
11 Nísinsin yìí, ẹ jẹ́wọ́ níwájú Olúwa, Ọlọ́run àwọn baba yín, kí ẹ sì ṣe ìfẹ́ rẹ̀. Ẹ ya ara yín sọ́tọ̀ kúrò láàrín àwọn ènìyàn tí ó yí i yín ká àti láàrín àwọn ìyàwó àjèjì yín.”
Now you must confess your sin to the Lord, the God of your forefathers, and do what he requires. Sever your connections with the people of the land and your foreign wives.”
12 Àpéjọpọ̀ ènìyàn náà sì dáhùn lóhùn rara pé, ohun tí ó sọ dára! A gbọdọ̀ ṣe bí o ti wí.
The whole assembly answered in a loud voice: “We agree, and we promise to do as you say!
13 Ṣùgbọ́n ọ̀pọ̀ ni ó wà ni ibi yìí síbẹ̀ àkókò òjò ni; àwa kò sì lè dúró ní ìta. Yàtọ̀ sí èyí, a kò le è yanjú ọ̀rọ̀ yìí láàrín ọjọ́ kan tàbí ọjọ́ méjì, nítorí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wa pọ̀ jọjọ lórí àwọn nǹkan wọ̀nyí.
But there are a lot of people here, and it's pouring with rain. We can't stay outside. More to the point, this isn't something that can be fixed in one or two days, for we have sinned extremely seriously in this.
14 Jẹ́ kí àwọn ìjòyè wa ṣojú fún gbogbo ìjọ ènìyàn, lẹ́yìn náà, jẹ́ kí ẹnìkọ̀ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ìlú wa tí ó ti fẹ́ obìnrin àjèjì wá ní àsìkò tí a yàn, pẹ̀lú àwọn àgbàgbà àti àwọn onídàájọ́ ìlú kọ̀ọ̀kan, títí ìbínú gíga Ọlọ́run wa lórí ọ̀rọ̀ yìí yóò fi kúrò ní orí wa.
Let our leaders act on behalf of the whole assembly. Then let every man in each of our towns who has married a foreign woman be given an appointment to come and meet, together with the elders and judges of that town, until our God is no longer angry with us over this.”
15 Jonatani ọmọ Asaheli àti Jahseiah ọmọ Tikfa nìkan pẹ̀lú àtìlẹ́yìn Meṣullamu àti Ṣabbetai ará Lefi, ni wọ́n tako àbá yìí.
The only ones to oppose this were Jonathan, son of Asahel, and Jahzeiah, son of Tikvah, supported by Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite.
16 Nígbà náà ni àwọn ìgbèkùn ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọ́n ṣe fi ẹnu kò sí. Àlùfáà Esra yan àwọn ọkùnrin tí wọ́n jẹ́ olórí àwọn ìdílé, ẹnìkọ̀ọ̀kan láti ìdílé kọ̀ọ̀kan, gbogbo wọn ni a sì mọ̀ pẹ̀lú orúkọ wọn. Ní ọjọ́ kìn-ín-ní oṣù kẹwàá, wọ́n jókòó láti ṣe àyẹ̀wò àwọn ẹjọ́ náà,
So this what the exiles did, selecting Ezra the priest and family leaders, according to their family divisions, all of them specifically named. On the first day of the tenth month they sat down to begin the inquiry,
