< Ezekiel 20 >

1 Ní ọjọ́ kẹwàá, oṣù karùn-ún ọdún keje, ní díẹ̀ nínú àwọn àgbàgbà Israẹli wá wádìí lọ́wọ́ Olúwa, wọn jókòó níwájú mi.
Almost seven years [King Jehoiachin and the rest of us had been captured and taken to Babylonia], on the tenth day of the fifth [of that year], some Israeli elders came to me to [if I had a message for them] from Yahweh.
2 Nígbà náà ni ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tọ̀ mí wá wí pé,
Then Yahweh gave me a message. [He said, ]
3 “Ọmọ ènìyàn, sọ fún àwọn àgbàgbà Israẹli, kì ó sì wí fún wọn pé, ‘Báyìí ní Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, ṣe ki ẹ lè wádìí lọ́dọ̀ mi ni ẹ ṣe wá? Bí mo ti wà láààyè, ní Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, Èmi kì yóò gbà kí ẹ wádìí lọ́dọ̀ mi.’
“You human, speak to the Israeli elders and say to them, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says: [say that] you have come to ask if there is any message from me [RHQ], but [as surely] as I am alive, I will [answer you if] you ask [to tell you] anything.’
4 “Ìwọ fẹ́ dájọ́ wọn bí? Ìwọ fẹ́ dájọ́ wọn bí ọmọ ènìyàn? Nítorí náà fi gbogbo ìwà ìríra baba wọn kò wọ́n lójú,
If you are [RHQ] willing to warn them, remind them of the detestable things that their ancestors did.
5 kí ó sì sọ fún wọn pé, ‘Báyìí ní Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, ní ọjọ́ tí mo yàn Israẹli, mo gbé ọwọ́ mi sókè nínú ìbúra sí àwọn ọmọ ilé Jakọbu, mo sì fi ara mi hàn wọn ní Ejibiti, mo gbé ọwọ́ mi sókè nínú ẹ̀jẹ́ wí pé, “Èmi ni Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín.”
Then say to them, ‘On the day that I chose [you] Israeli [to belong to me], with my hand lifted up, I made a solemn promise to your [while they were still] in Egypt. I said to them, “I am Yahweh, your God.
6 Ní ọjọ́ náà mo lọ búra fún wọn pé, èmi yóò mú wọn jáde kúrò ni ilẹ̀ Ejibiti lọ sí ilẹ̀ ti mo ti wá sílẹ̀ fún wọn, ilẹ̀ tí ó ń sàn fún wàrà àti oyin, ilẹ̀ tí ó lẹ́wà jùlọ láàrín àwọn ilẹ̀ yòókù.
I will bring you out of Egypt and lead you to a land that I have chosen for you. It is a very fertile [IDM] and (very beautiful/more beautiful than any other) land.
7 Mo sì wí fún wọn pé, “Kí olúkúlùkù nínú yín gbé ìríra ojú rẹ̀ kúrò, kí ẹ sì má bá sọ ara yín di àìmọ́ pẹ̀lú àwọn òrìṣà Ejibiti, èmi ni Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín.”
Each of you must get rid of the disgusting idols that you loved [IDM], and do not defile yourselves [worshiping] those [that you saw] in Egypt. I, Yahweh your God, [am saying this to you].”’
8 “‘Ṣùgbọ́n wọn ṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí mi wọn kò sì gbọ́rọ̀, wọn kò gbé àwòrán ìríra tí wọ́n dojúkọ kúrò níwájú wọn bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọn kò si kọ̀ àwọn òrìṣà Ejibiti sílẹ̀, torí náà mo sọ pé èmi yóò tú ìbínú gbígbóná mi lé wọn lórí, èmi yóò sì jẹ́ kí ìbínú mi sẹ̀ lórí wọn ní ilẹ̀ Ejibiti.
But they rebelled against me. They would not pay attention to me. They did not get rid of the disgusting idols they loved, and they did not reject those [that they saw] in Egypt. So because I was angry with them, I said that I would punish [MTY] them in Egypt.
9 Ṣùgbọ́n nítorí orúkọ mi, mo ṣe ohun tí kò ní jẹ́ kí orúkọ mi bàjẹ́ lójú àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè tí wọn ń gbé láàrín wọn, lójú àwọn ẹni tí mo ti fi ara hàn fún ara Israẹli nípa mímú wọn jáde ní ilẹ̀ Ejibiti.
But for the sake of my own reputation, I decided to do something in order that I would not be dishonored by the people of the nations who would see it when I brought my people out of Egypt.
10 Nítorí náà, mo mú wọn jáde ní ilẹ̀ Ejibiti mo sì mú wọn wá sínú aginjù.
Therefore I led them out of Egypt and brought them into the desert.
11 Mo sì fún wọn ni òfin mi, mo sì fi àwọn òfin mi hàn wọ́n; nítorí pé ẹni tó bá ṣe wọ́n yóò yè nípa wọn.
I gave them [all] my laws and decrees [DOU], in order that they would obey them, and as a result they would live [for a long time].
12 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni mo fún wọn ní ọjọ́ ìsinmi gẹ́gẹ́ bí àmì láàrín àwọn àti èmi, kí wọn lè mọ̀ pé èmi ni Olúwa tó sọ wọn di mímọ́.
Also, I established the Sabbath/rest days to be a symbol between us to show that I, Yahweh, had caused them to be set [from the other nations].
13 “‘Síbẹ̀; ilé Israẹli ṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí mí nínú aginjù. Wọn kò tẹ̀lé àṣẹ mi, wọn sì kọ àwọn òfin mi sílẹ̀ bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé ẹni tó bá pa á mọ́ yóò yè nínú rẹ̀. Wọn sì sọ ọjọ́ ìsinmi mi di aláìmọ́ lọ́pọ̀lọ́pọ̀. Nítorí náà, mo sọ pé èmi yóò tú ìbínú gbígbóná mi sórí wọn, èmi yóò sì pa wọ́n run nínú aginjù.
But the Israeli people rebelled against me in the desert. They did not obey my commands [DOU]; they rejected them, even though they tell people who obey them that they will live [for a long time], and they profaned the Sabbath days. So I said that I would get rid of them in the desert, and that would show that I was very angry with them.
14 Ṣùgbọ́n nítorí orúkọ mi, mo ṣe ohun tí kò ní mú kí orúkọ mi bàjẹ́ lójú àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè tí mo kó wọn jáde.
But [again], for the sake of my own reputation, I decided to do something else in order that I would not be dishonored/despised by [the people of] the nations who had seen me bring my people out of Egypt.
15 Nítorí náà, mo tún gbọ́wọ́ mi sókè ní ìbúra fún wọn nínú aginjù pé, èmi kì yóò mú wọn dé ilẹ̀ tí mo fi fún wọn—ilẹ̀ tí ó ń sàn fún wàrà àti oyin, ilẹ̀ tí ó lẹ́wà jùlọ láàrín àwọn ilẹ̀ yòókù.
I lifted up my hand and solemnly declared to them in the desert that I would not take them into the land that [had promised to] give them, a land that was very fertile [IDM] and (very beautiful/more beautiful than any other) land.
16 Nítorí pé, wọn kọ òfin mi sílẹ̀, wọn kò sì tẹ̀lé àṣẹ mi, wọn sọ ọjọ́ ìsinmi mi dí aláìmọ́. Nítorí pé tọkàntọkàn ni wọn ń tẹ̀lé òrìṣà wọn.
The reason that I promised that was because they rejected and disobeyed all my laws [DOU] and (desecrated/refused to rest on) the Sabbath days. [They did that] because they [SYN] were devoted [worshiping] their idols.
17 Síbẹ̀síbẹ̀ mo wò wọ́n pẹ̀lú àánú, ń kò sì pa wọ́n run tàbí kí òpin dé bá wọn nínú aginjù.
But, I still pitied them and did not get rid of [all of] them in the desert.
18 Ṣùgbọ́n mo sọ fún àwọn ọmọ wọn nínú aginjù pé, “Ẹ má ṣe rìn ní ìlànà àwọn baba yín, ẹ má ṣe pa òfin wọn mọ́, ẹ má ṣe bá ara yín jẹ́ pẹ̀lú òrìṣà wọn.
I said to their children, ‘Do not do the things that your parents continually did, or defile yourselves [worshiping] their idols.
19 Èmi ni Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín, ẹ tẹ̀lé àṣẹ mi, kí ó sì pa òfin mi mọ́.
I am Yahweh your God. Carefully obey [DOU] my laws and commands.
20 Ẹ ya ọjọ́ ìsinmi mi sí mímọ́ kí ó lè jẹ́ àmì láàrín wa, ki ẹ lè mọ̀ pé èmi ní Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín.”
Respect my Sabbath days, in order that by doing that [PRS], it will remind you that you belong to me, Yahweh your God.’
21 “‘Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ọmọ náà ṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí mi. Wọn kò tẹ̀lé àṣẹ mi, wọn kò sì pa òfin mi mọ́ bí o tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé ẹni tó bá tẹ̀lé àwọn òfin yìí, yóò yè nínú rẹ̀, wọ́n sì tún sọ ọjọ́ ìsinmi mi di aláìmọ́. Nítorí náà, mo sọ pé èmi yóò tú ìbínú mi lórí wọn, Èmi yóò sì mú kí ìbínú gbígbóná mi wá sórí wọn ni aginjù.
But their children [also] rebelled against me. They did not carefully obey my laws [DOU], [even though] the people who obey them will live [for a long time]; and they profaned the Sabbath days. So again I said that by getting rid of them in the desert, I would show that I was very angry with them.
22 Síbẹ̀síbẹ̀ mo dáwọ́ dúró, nítorí orúkọ mi, mo sì ṣe ohun tí kò ní ba orúkọ mi jẹ́ lójú àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè ti mo kó wọn jáde lójú wọn.
But I did not do that [IDM]. [Again, ] for the sake of my own reputation, I [decided to] do something in order that I would not be dishonored/despised by [the people of] the nations who had seen it when I brought my people out [of Egypt].
23 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni pẹ̀lú ọwọ́ ti mo gbé sókè sí wọn, mo búra fún wọn nínú aginjù pé èmi yóò tú wọn ka sì àárín àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè, èmi yóò sì fọ́n wọn káàkiri ilẹ̀ gbogbo,
I lifted up my hand and solemnly declared to them in the desert that I would cause them to be scattered among [many] nations [DOU],
24 nítorí pé wọn kò pa òfin mi mọ́, wọn sì tún kọ àṣẹ mi sílẹ̀, wọn tún sọ ọjọ́ ìsinmi mi di aláìmọ́. Ojú wọn sì wà ní ara òrìṣà baba wọn.
because they had rejected and disobeyed all my laws [DOU] and desecrated the Sabbath days, and they had eagerly [to worship] the idols that their [had worshiped].
25 Èmi náà sì fi wọn fún ìlànà tí kò dára àti òfin tí wọn kò le e yè nípa rẹ̀;
I also allowed them to obey laws that were not good, and laws that would not enable them to live [a long time if they obeyed them].
26 mo jẹ́ kí ó sọ wọn di aláìmọ́ nípa ẹ̀bùn nípa fífi àkọ́bí ọmọ wọn rú ẹbọ sísun, àkọ́bí wọn la iná kọjá, kí èmi sọ wọ́n di ahoro, kí wọn le mọ̀ pé èmi ni Olúwa.’
I allowed them to become unacceptable to me by their sacrificing their firstborn children in the fire. I did that in order that they would be horrified, and in order that they would know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].
27 “Nítorí náà, Ọmọ ènìyàn, sọ fún ilé Israẹli kí ó sì wí fún wọn pé, ‘Èyí ní ohun ti Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, nínú èyí tí baba yín ti sọ̀rọ̀-òdì sí mi, nípa kíkọ̀ mí sílẹ̀.
Therefore, you human, speak to the Israeli people. Say this to them, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says [to you]: This is one way that your ancestors dishonored me by turning away from me.
28 Nítorí nígbà tí mo mú wọn dé ilẹ̀ náà, tí mo gbé ọwọ́ mi sókè láti fi í fún wọn, nígbà náà ni wọ́n rí olúkúlùkù òkè gíga, àti gbogbo igi bíbò, wọ́n sì rú ẹbọ wọn níbẹ̀, wọ́n sì gbé ìmúnibínú ọrẹ wọ́n kalẹ̀ níbẹ̀; níbẹ̀ pẹ̀lú ni wọ́n ṣe òórùn dídùn wọn, wọ́n sì ta ohun ọrẹ mímu sílẹ̀ níbẹ̀.
After I brought them into the land that I had solemnly promised to give to them, every time that they saw a high hill or a [big] green tree, they offered [to idols] there. They made offerings to them, and that caused me to become angry. They presented to those idols their fragrant burning incense, and poured out wine offerings to them.
29 Nígbà náà ni mo wí fún wọn pé, kí ní ibi gíga tí ẹ̀yin lọ yìí?’” (Orúkọ rẹ̀ ni a sì ń pè ní Bama di òní yìí.)
[Then] I asked them, “Who [RHQ] [told you to worship at] a shrine like this, here on this hilltop?” So they are still called “hilltop shrines”.’
30 “Nítorí náà sọ fún ilé Israẹli pé, ‘Èyí ní ohun tí Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, ṣé o fẹ́ ba ara rẹ jẹ́ bi àwọn baba rẹ ṣe ṣe, tiwọn ń ṣe àgbèrè nípa títẹ̀lé àwọn àwòrán ìríra?
Therefore, say this to the Israeli people [MTY]: 'This is what Yahweh the Lord says: “You are going to [RHQ] defile yourselves like your ancestors did by strongly [to worship] their disgusting [statues of idols].
31 Nígbà tí ẹ̀yin bá san ọrẹ yìí, ìrúbọ ọmọkùnrin ọmọ yín, tí ẹ mú ọmọ yin la iná kọjá, ẹ̀yin ń tẹ̀síwájú láti ba ara yín jẹ́ pẹ̀lú àwọn òrìṣà yín títí di òní yìí, ẹ̀yin yóò ha jẹ wádìí lọ́dọ̀ mi, ìwọ ilé Israẹli? Bí mo ti wà láààyè, ní Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, Èmi ki yóò jẹ́ kí ẹ wádìí lọ́dọ̀ mi.
When you sacrifice your children in the fire, you are still continuing to make yourselves unacceptable to me [worshiping] your many idols. You Israeli people, should I allow you to [what I want you to do]? I, Yahweh the Lord, say that [as surely] as I am alive, [I will not answer] if you inquire.'
32 “‘Ẹ̀yin wí pé, “Àwa fẹ́ dàbí àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè yòókù, bí àwọn ènìyàn ayé, tó ń bọ igi àti òkúta.” Ṣùgbọ́n ohun ti ẹ ni lọ́kàn kò ní ṣẹ rárá.
You say, ‘We want to be like the [other] nations, like the [other] people-groups in the world. We want to [idols made of] wood and [like they do].’ But what you want will never happen.
33 Bí mo ti wà láààyè, ní Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, Èmi yóò jẹ ọba lórí yín pẹ̀lú ọwọ́ agbára tí èmi yóò nà jáde pẹ̀lú ìtújáde ìbínú gbígbóná mi.
[I], Yahweh your Lord, say that [as surely] as I am alive, I will use my great power [DOU, MTY] to rule over you, and show that I am angry with you.
34 Èmi yóò si mú yín jáde kúrò láàrín àwọn ènìyàn, èmi yóò sì ṣà yín jọ láàrín àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè tí a fọ́n yín sí pẹ̀lú ọwọ́ agbára àti apá nínà tí èmi yóò nà jáde àti pẹ̀lú ìtújáde ìbínú gbígbóná ni.
With my great power I will gather you from the places to which you have been scattered,
35 Èmi yóò si mú yín wá sí aginjù àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè, níbẹ̀ ni ojúkójú ni èmi yóò ṣe ìdájọ́ lé e yín lórí.
and I will bring you to a [that is surrounded] by [other] nations. There, while I am looking at you, I will judge you.
36 Bí mo ṣe ṣe ìdájọ́ àwọn baba yín nínú aginjù nílẹ̀ Ejibiti, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni èmi yóò ṣe ìdájọ́ yín ní Olúwa Olódùmarè wí.
I will punish you, like I punished your ancestors in the desert near Egypt.
37 Èmi yóò kíyèsi i yín bí mo ti mú un yín kọjá lábẹ́ ọ̀pá, èmi yóò sì mú yín wá sí abẹ́ ìdè májẹ̀mú.
I will count you [MTY] as you walk by, and I will force you to obey the agreement that I made with you.
38 Èmi yóò si ṣa àwọn ọlọ̀tẹ̀ kúrò láàrín yín, àti àwọn o lù re òfin kọjá, èmi yóò mu wọn jáde kúrò ni ilẹ̀ tiwọn gbé ṣe àtìpó, wọn ki yóò si wọ ilẹ̀ Israẹli. Nígbà náà ní ẹ̀yin yóò mọ̀ pé, èmi ní Olúwa.
I will get rid of those people among you who rebel [DOU] against me. Although I will bring them out [Babylonia], where they are now living, they will not enter Israel. Then you will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].
39 “‘Ní tí ẹ̀yin, ilé Israẹli, èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa Olódùmarè wí: Kí olúkúlùkù yín lọ máa sìn òrìṣà rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n lẹ́yìn èyí, ẹ̀yin yóò gbọ́ tèmi, ẹ̀yin kò sí ní i bá orúkọ mímọ́ mi jẹ́ pẹ̀lú ọrẹ àti àwọn òrìṣà yín mọ́.
As for you Israeli people [MTY], this is what [I], Yahweh the Lord, say: 'Go and worship your idols now [IRO], each of you. But [afterwards], you will [surely] heed me and no longer dishonor me [MTY] by taking gifts to your idols.
40 Nítorí lórí òkè mímọ́ mi, lórí òkè gíga Israẹli, ni Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, níbẹ̀ ni ilẹ̀ náà ní gbogbo ilé Israẹli yóò sìn mí; èmi yóò sì tẹ́wọ́ gba wọ́n níbẹ̀. Níbẹ̀ èmi yóò béèrè ọrẹ àti ẹ̀bùn nínú àkọ́so yín pẹ̀lú gbogbo ẹbọ mímọ́ yín.
[I], Yahweh your Lord, declare that there on my sacred hill, [Zion], that high hill in Israel, you will bring gifts to me, and I will accept them. I will require you to bring to me gifts and offerings there, and your sacrifices that are dedicated to me.
41 Èmi yóò tẹ́wọ́ gbà yín gẹ́gẹ́ bí tùràrí olóòórùn dídùn nígbà tí mo ba mú yín jáde láàrín àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè tí a fọ́n yín ká sí, èmi yóò sì fi ìwà mímọ́ mi hàn láàrín yín lójú àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè.
When I bring you out from the [other] nations [DOU] to which you have been scattered, I will accept [as though you were] fragrant incense. By doing that, I will show the people of other nations that I have set you apart to belong to me.
42 Nígbà náà ni ẹ o mọ̀ pé èmi ní Olúwa, nígbà tí mo bá mú yín wa sí ilẹ̀ Israẹli; sí ilẹ̀ tí mo gbọ́wọ́ mí sókè nínú ẹ̀jẹ́ láti fún àwọn baba yín.
Then, when I bring you into the land of Israel, the land that I solemnly promised with my hand lifted up that I would give to your ancestors, you will know that I, Yahweh, [have done it].
43 Níbẹ̀ ni ẹ ó wa rántí ìwà àti gbogbo ìṣesí yín, èyí tí ẹ̀yin fi sọ ara yín di aláìmọ́, ẹ̀yin yóò sì kórìíra ara yín fún gbogbo ibi tí ẹ̀yin ti ṣe.
And [in Israel] you will remember how you conducted your lives [previously, you will remember] the actions that caused you to become unacceptable to me, and you will hate/despise yourselves for all the evil things that you have done.
44 Nígbà náà ní ẹ̀yin yóò mọ̀ pé, Èmi ni Olúwa, nígbà tí mo bá hùwà sí yín nítorí orúkọ mi ni, tí ń kò hùwà sí yín gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọ̀nà ibi àti ìwà ìríra yín. Ẹ̀yin ilé Israẹli, ni Olúwa Olódùmarè wí.’”
When I act toward you Israeli people to protect my reputation, and not [just] because of your evil deeds and corrupt behavior, you Israeli people will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].' That is what Yahweh the Lord declares.”
45 Ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tọ̀ mí wá:
Yahweh gave me another message. He said,
46 “Ọmọ ènìyàn, dojúkọ ìhà gúúsù; wàásù lòdì sí gúúsù kí ìwọ sì sọtẹ́lẹ̀ sí igbó ilẹ̀ gúúsù.
“You human, turn toward the south. Preach about what will happen to that dry land, to the forest there.
47 Sọ fún igbó ìhà gúúsù pé: ‘Gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa. Èyí ní ohun tí Olúwa Olódùmarè wí: Kíyèsi í, èmi yóò dá iná kan nínú rẹ̀, yóò sì jó olúkúlùkù igi tútù nínú rẹ̀, àti olúkúlùkù igi gbígbẹ. Jíjò ọwọ́ iná náà ní kí yóò ṣé é pa, àti gbogbo ojú láti gúúsù dé àríwá ni a ó sun nínú rẹ̀.
Say to the forest in the [part of Israel]: 'Listen to this message that Yahweh the Lord is saying [about you]: “I am about to start a fire in your midst, and it will burn up all your trees, [both] the green trees and the withered/dry trees. Nothing will extinguish the blazing flames. And the fire will scorch the faces of everyone [who lives] in that area, from the south to the north.
48 Gbogbo ènìyàn yóò sì mọ̀ pé, Èmi Olúwa ni ó dá a, a kì yóò sì le è pa á.’”
Everyone will see that it is I, Yahweh, who have lit this fire, and no one will [be able to] put it out.” '”
49 Nígbà náà ni mo wí pé, “Háà! Olúwa Olódùmarè! Wọn ń wí fún mi pé, ‘Kì í wa ṣe pé òwe lo ń pa bí?’”
Then I said, “Yahweh, my Lord, [when I tell things like this to people, they do not believe me]. They say about me, ‘He is only telling parables.’”
