< Esther 4 >

1 Nígbà tí Mordekai gbọ́ gbogbo nǹkan tí ó ṣẹlẹ̀, ó fa aṣọ rẹ̀ ya, ó wọ aṣọ ọ̀fọ̀, ó sì fi eérú kun ara, ó jáde lọ sí inú ìlú ó kígbe sókè ó sì sọkún kíkorò.
When, Mordecai, came to know all that had been done, Mordecai rent his garments, and put on sackcloth, and ashes, —and went forth into the midst of the city, and cried out with an outcry loud and bitter;
2 Ṣùgbọ́n ó lọ sí ẹnu-ọ̀nà ọba nìkan, nítorí kò sí ẹnìkan tí ó wọ aṣọ ọ̀fọ̀ tì a gbà láààyè láti wọ ibẹ̀.
and went in as far as before the gate of the king, —for, none, might enter into the gate of the king, clothed with sackcloth.
3 Ní gbogbo ìgbèríko tí àṣẹ ikú ọba dé, ọ̀fọ̀ ńlá dé bá àwọn Júù, pẹ̀lú àwẹ̀, ẹkún àti ìpohùnréré ẹkún. Ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ wà nínú aṣọ ọ̀fọ̀ tí wọ́n fi eérú kúnra.
And, throughout every province, whithersoever the word of the king and his edict came, was great mourning to the Jews, and fasting and weeping, and lamentation, —sackcloth and ashes, were spread out for many.
4 Nígbà tí àwọn ìránṣẹ́bìnrin àti àwọn ìwẹ̀fà Esteri wá, wọ́n sọ nípa Mordekai fún un, ayaba sì wà nínú ìbànújẹ́ ńlá. Ó fi aṣọ ránṣẹ́ sí i kí ó wọ̀ ọ́ dípò aṣọ ọ̀fọ̀ tí ó wọ̀, ṣùgbọ́n òun kò gbà wọ́n.
So the maidens of Esther and her eunuchs went in and told her, and the queen writhed in great anguish, —and sent garments to clothe Mordecai, and to remove his sackcloth from off him, but he accepted them not.
5 Nígbà náà ni Esteri pe Hataki, ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ìwẹ̀fà ọba tí a yàn láti máa jíṣẹ́ fún un, ó pàṣẹ fún un pé kí ó béèrè ohun tí ó ń dààmú Mordekai àti ohun tí ó ṣe é.
Then called Esther for Hathach, one of the eunuchs of the king whom he had stationed before her, and charged him, concerning Mordecai, —to get to know what this was, and why this was.
6 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Hataki jáde lọ bá Mordekai ní ìta gbangba ìlú níwájú ẹnu-ọ̀nà ọba.
So Hathach went forth unto Mordecai, —in the broadway of the city, which was before the gate of the king.
7 Mordekai sọ ohun gbogbo tí ó ṣẹlẹ̀ fún un, papọ̀ pẹ̀lú iye owó tí Hamani ti ṣe ìpinnu láti san sínú àpò ìṣúra ọba fún ìparun àwọn Júù.
And Mordecai told him all that had befallen him, —and an exact statement of the silver, that Haman had promised to weigh out unto the treasuries of the king, for the Jews, to destroy them.
8 Ó sì tún fún un ní ọ̀kan lára ìwé tí ó gbé jáde fún ìparun wọn, èyí tí a tẹ̀ jáde ní Susa, láti fihan Esteri kí ó sì ṣe àlàyé e rẹ̀ fún un, ó sì sọ fún un pé kí ó bẹ̀ ẹ́ kí ó lọ síwájú ọba láti bẹ̀bẹ̀ fún àánú, kí ó bẹ̀bẹ̀ nítorí àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀.
Also, a copy of the writing of the edict which had been given in Shusan to destroy them, gave he unto him, to shew unto Esther, and to tell her, —and to lay charge upon her, to go in unto the king—to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him, for her people.
9 Hataki padà ó sì lọ ṣàlàyé fún Esteri ohun tí Mordekai sọ.
And Hathach came in and told Esther, the words of Mordecai.
10 Nígbà náà ni Esteri pàṣẹ fún Hataki pé kí ó sọ fún Mordekai,
Then spake Esther unto Hathach, —and gave him charge, unto Mordecai: —
11 “Gbogbo àwọn ìjòyè ọba àti àwọn ènìyàn agbègbè ìjọba rẹ̀ mọ̀ wí pé: fún ẹnikẹ́ni ọkùnrin tàbí obìnrin kan tàbí tí ó bá bá ọba sọ̀rọ̀ láìjẹ́ pé a ránṣẹ́ pè é (ọba ti gbé òfin kan kalẹ̀ pé) kíkú ni yóò kú. Ohun kan tí ó le yẹ èyí ni pé, kí ọba na ọ̀pá wúrà rẹ̀ sí i kí ó sì dá ẹ̀mí rẹ sí. Ṣùgbọ́n, ọgbọ̀n ọjọ́ ti kọjá tí a ti pè mí láti lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọba.”
All the servants of the king, and the people of the provinces of the king, do know, that, whatsoever man or woman shall go in unto the king—into the inter court—who hath not been called, one, is his law, to put him to death, saving any to whom the king may hold out the golden sceptre, who then shall live, —but, I, have not been called to go in unto the king, these thirty days.
12 Nígbà tí a sọ ọ̀rọ̀ Esteri fún Mordekai,
And they told Mordecai, the words of Esther.
13 nígbà náà ni Mordekai sọ kí a dá Esteri lóhùn pé, “Má ṣe rò nínú ara rẹ pé nítorí pé ìwọ wà ní ilé ọba ìwọ nìkan là láàrín gbogbo àwọn Júù.
Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, —Do not think in thine own soul, to escape in the house of the king from among all the Jews.
14 Nítorí bí ìwọ bá dákẹ́ ní àkókò yìí, ìrànlọ́wọ́ àti ìtúsílẹ̀ fún àwọn Júù yóò dìde láti ibòmíràn, ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ àti àwọn ìdílé baba à rẹ yóò ṣègbé. Ta ni ó mọ̀ wí pé nítorí irú àkókò yìí ni o ṣe wà ní ipò ayaba?”
But, if thou, do indeed hold thy peace, at this time, respite and deliverance, will be appointed for the Jews, from another place, but, thou, and thy father’s house, will perish, —and who knoweth whether, for a time such as this, thou hast attained unto the royal estate?
15 Nígbà náà ni Esteri rán iṣẹ́ yìí sí Mordekai:
Then Esther commanded, to answer Mordecai: —
16 “Lọ, kí o kó gbogbo àwọn Júù tí ó wà ní Susa jọ, kí ẹ sì gbààwẹ̀ fún mi. Ẹ má ṣe jẹun tàbí omi fún ọjọ́ mẹ́ta, ní òru àti ní ọ̀sán. Èmi àti àwọn ìránṣẹ́bìnrin mi náà yóò gbààwẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹ̀yin náà ti ṣe. Nígbà tí ẹ bá ṣe èyí, èmi yóò tọ ọba lọ, bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé ó lòdì sí òfin. Bí mo bá sì ṣègbé, mo ṣègbé.”
Go! gather ye together all the Jews who are to be found in Shusan, and fast ye for me—and neither eat nor drink—three days, night nor day, and, I and my maidens, will fast so, —and, in this manner, will I go in unto the king, though it is not according to the law, and, when I have perished, I have perished!
17 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Mordekai lọ, ó sì sọ gbogbo ohun tí Esteri pàṣẹ fún un.
So Mordecai departed, —and did according to all that Esther had charged upon him.
