< Esther 3 >
1 Lẹ́yìn àwọn ìṣẹ̀lẹ̀ wọ̀nyí, ọba Ahaswerusi dá Hamani ọmọ Hammedata, ará Agagi lọ́lá, ọba gbé e ga, ó si fún un ní àga ọlá tí ó ju ti gbogbo àwọn ọlọ́lá tókù lọ.
After these things King Achashyerosh promoted Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the officials who were with him.
2 Gbogbo àwọn ìjòyè ọba tí ó wà ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà ọba wọn kúnlẹ̀ wọ́n sì fi ọlá fun Hamani, nítorí ọba ti pàṣẹ èyí nípa tirẹ̀. Ṣùgbọ́n Mordekai kò ní kúnlẹ̀ tàbí bu ọlá fún un.
All the king's servants who were in the King's Gate bowed down, and paid homage to Haman; for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai did not bow down or pay him homage.
3 Nígbà náà ni àwọn ìjòyè ọba tí ó wà ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà béèrè lọ́wọ́ Mordekai pé, “Èéṣe tí ìwọ kò ṣe pa àṣẹ ọba mọ́.”
Then the king's servants, who were in the King's Gate, said to Mordecai, "Why do you disobey the king's commandment?"
4 Ní ojoojúmọ́ ni wọ́n máa n sọ fún un ṣùgbọ́n ó kọ̀ láti ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀. Nítorí náà, wọ́n sọ fún Hamani nípa rẹ̀ láti wò ó bóyá ó lè gba irú ìwà tí Mordekai ń hù yìí, nítorí tí ó ti sọ fún wọn pé Júù ni òun.
Now it came to pass, when they spoke daily to him, and he did not listen to them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's reason would stand; for he had told them that he was a Jew.
5 Nígbà tí Hamani rí i pé Mordekai kò ní kúnlẹ̀ tàbí bu ọlá fún òun, ó bínú.
When Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow down, nor pay him homage, Haman was full of wrath.
6 Síbẹ̀ kò mọ irú ènìyàn tí Mordekai jẹ́, ó kẹ́gàn láti pa Mordekai nìkan. Dípò bẹ́ẹ̀ Hamani ń wá láti pa gbogbo ènìyàn Mordekai run, àwọn Júù jákèjádò gbogbo ìjọba Ahaswerusi.
But he scorned the thought of laying hands on Mordecai alone, for they had made known to him Mordecai's people. Therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the whole kingdom of Achashyerosh, even Mordecai's people.
7 Ní ọdún kejìlá ọba Ahaswerusi, ní oṣù kìn-ín-ní, èyí ni oṣù Nisani, wọ́n da puri (èyí tí í ṣe, ìbò) ní iwájú Hamani láti yan ọjọ́ kan àti oṣù, ìbò náà sì wáyé ní oṣù kejìlá, oṣù Addari.
In the first month, which is the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Achashyerosh, they cast Pur (that is, the lot) before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, and chose the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.
8 Nígbà náà ni Hamani sọ fún ọba Ahaswerusi pé, “Àwọn ènìyàn kan wà tí wọ́n fọ́nká tí wọ́n sì túká ní ara àwọn ènìyàn ní gbogbo àgbáyé ìjọba rẹ̀ tí ìṣe wọn yàtọ̀ sí ti gbogbo àwọn tókù tí wọn kò sì pa òfin ọba mọ́; èyí kì í ṣe ìfẹ́ ọba láti gbà fún wọn bẹ́ẹ̀.
Haman said to King Achashyerosh, "There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of your kingdom, and their laws are different than other people's. They do not keep the king's laws. Therefore it is not for the king's profit to allow them to remain.
9 Tí ó bá tẹ́ ọba lọ́rùn, kí a gbé òfin kan jáde tí yóò pa wọ́n run, èmi yóò sì fi ẹgbẹ̀rún mẹ́wàá tálẹ́ǹtì fàdákà sínú ìṣúra ọba fún àwọn ọkùnrin tí wọn o ṣe iṣẹ́ náà.”
If it pleases the king, let it be written that they be destroyed; and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver into the hands of those who are in charge of the king's business, to bring it into the king's treasuries."
10 Nítorí náà, ọba sì bọ́ òrùka èdìdì tí ó wà ní ìka rẹ̀, ó sì fi fún Hamani ọmọ Hammedata, ará Agagi, ọ̀tá àwọn Júù.
The king took his ring from his hand, and gave it to Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' enemy.
11 Ọba sọ fún Hamani pé, “Pa owó náà mọ́, kí o sì ṣe ohun tí ó wù ọ́ fún àwọn ènìyàn náà.”
The king said to Haman, "The silver is given to you, the people also, to do with them as it seems good to you."
12 Nígbà tí ó di ọjọ́ kẹtàlá oṣù kìn-ín-ní àkọ́kọ́, wọ́n pe àwọn akọ̀wé ọba jọ. Wọ́n kọ ọ́ ní ìlànà bí ìgbèríko kọ̀ọ̀kan ṣe ń kọ̀wé, ó kọ̀wé sí àwọn ènìyàn kọ̀ọ̀kan ní èdè wọn gbogbo èyí tí Hamani ti pàṣẹ sí àwọn akọ̀wé ọba, sí baálẹ̀ ìgbèríko kọ̀ọ̀kan àti àwọn ọlọ́lá àwọn onírúurú ènìyàn. A kọ èyí ní orúkọ ọba Ahaswerusi fúnra rẹ̀ ó sì fi òrùka ọba ṣe èdìdì i rẹ̀.
Then the king's scribes were called in on the first month, on the thirteenth day of the month; and all that Haman commanded was written to the king's satraps, and to the governors who were over every province, and to the officials of every people, to every province according its writing, and to every people in their language. It was written in the name of King Achashyerosh, and it was sealed with the king's ring.
13 A sì fi ìwé náà ránṣẹ́ sí gbogbo àwọn ìgbèríko ọba pẹ̀lú àṣẹ láti parun, láti pa gbogbo àwọn Júù èwe àti àgbà, obìnrin àti àwọn ọmọ wẹ́wẹ́—ní ọjọ́ kan kí wọn sì parẹ́, ní ọjọ́ kẹtàlá oṣù kejìlá, oṣù Addari kí a sì kó àwọn ohun ìní wọn.
Letters were sent by couriers into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to plunder their possessions.
14 Kí ẹ mú àdàkọ ìwé náà kí a tẹ̀ ẹ́ jáde bí òfin ní gbogbo ìgbèríko kí ó sì di mí mọ̀ fún àwọn ènìyàn ìlú nítorí kí wọ́n le múra fún ọjọ́ náà.
A copy of the letter, that the decree should be given out in every province, was published to all the peoples, that they should be ready against that day.
15 Àwọn ìránṣẹ́ náà sì jáde, wọ́n tẹ̀síwájú nípa àṣẹ ọba, ìkéde náà sì jáde ní ilé ìṣọ́ ti Susa. Ọba àti Hamani jókòó wọ́n ń mu, ṣùgbọ́n ìlú Susa wà nínú ìdààmú.
The couriers went forth in haste by the king's commandment, and the decree was given out in the citadel of Shushan. The king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city of Shushan was perplexed.
