< Esther 2 >

1 Lẹ́yìn nǹkan wọ̀nyí, Ahaswerusi ọba sì dáwọ́ ìbínú un rẹ̀ dúró, ó rántí i Faṣti àti ohun tí ó ti ṣe àti àṣẹ tí ó pa nípa tirẹ̀.
After these things, when the wrath of king Ahasuerus was pacified, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.
2 Nígbà náà ni ìránṣẹ́ ọba tí ó wà ní ọ̀dọ̀ ọ rẹ̀ wí pé, “Jẹ́ kí a wá ọmọbìnrin arẹwà tí kò ì ti mọ ọkùnrin rí fún ọba.
Then said the king’s servants that ministered unto him, Let there be fair young virgins sought for the king:
3 Àti pé kí ọba kí ó yan àwọn aláṣẹ ní gbogbo agbègbè ilẹ̀ ọba láti kó gbogbo àwọn arẹwà ọmọbìnrin wọ̀nyí jọ sí ilé àwọn obìnrin ní ilé ìṣọ́ Susa. Kí a kó wọn fún ìtọ́jú Hegai, ìwẹ̀fà ọba, ẹni tí ó ṣe olùtọ́jú àwọn obìnrin; kí a ṣe ìtọ́jú u wọn dáradára.
and let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that young virgins unto Shushan the palace, they may gather together all the fair to the house of the women, unto the custody of Hegai the king’s chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for purification be given them:
4 Nígbà náà kí ọmọbìnrin tí ó bá tẹ́ ọba lọ́rùn kí ó jẹ́ ayaba dípò Faṣti.” Ìmọ̀ràn yìí tẹ́ ọba lọ́rùn, ó sì tẹ̀lé e.
and let the maiden which pleaseth the king be queen instead of Vashti. And the thing pleased the king, and he did so.
5 Ó sì ṣe ní ìgbà náà ará a Júù kan wà ní ilé ìṣọ́ ti Susa, ẹni tí orúkọ rẹ̀ ń jẹ́ Mordekai ọmọ Jairi, ọmọ Ṣimei, ọmọ Kiṣi, ẹ̀yà Benjamini,
There was a certain Jew in Shushan the palace, whose name was Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;
6 ẹni tí Nebukadnessari ọba Babeli ti gbé lọ sí ìgbèkùn láti Jerusalẹmu, lára àwọn tí wọ́n kó ní ìgbèkùn pẹ̀lú ọba Jekoniah ọba Juda.
who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captives which had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar he king of Babylon had carried away.
7 Mordekai ní arákùnrin kan ẹni tí orúkọ rẹ̀ ń jẹ́ Hadassa, ẹni tí ó tọ́ dàgbà nítorí tí kò ní baba bẹ́ẹ̀ sì ni kò ní ìyá. Obìnrin yìí, ẹni tí a tún mọ̀ sí Esteri, ó dára ó sì lẹ́wà, Mordekai mú u gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọmọ rẹ̀ nígbà tí baba àti ìyá rẹ̀ ti kú.
And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maiden was fair and beautiful; and when her father and mother were dead, Mordecai took her for his own daughter.
8 Nígbà tí a ti kéde òfin àti àṣẹ ọba, ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ àwọn ọmọbìnrin ni a kó wá sí ilé ti ìṣọ́ Susa, sí abẹ́ ìtọ́jú Hegai. A sì mú Esteri náà wá sí ààfin ọba pẹ̀lú, a fà á lé Hegai lọ́wọ́, ẹni tí ó jẹ́ alábojútó ilé àwọn obìnrin.
So it came to pass, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was taken into the king’s house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.
9 Ọmọbìnrin náà sì wù ú, ó sì rí ojúrere rẹ̀, lẹ́sẹ̀kẹsẹ̀ ó pèsè àwọn ohun tí ó dára àti oúnjẹ pàtàkì fún un. Ó sì yan àwọn ìránṣẹ́bìnrin wúńdíá méje láti ààfin ọba òun àti àwọn ìránṣẹ́bìnrin náà lọ sí ibi tí ó dára jù nínú ilé àwọn obìnrin.
And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for purification, with her portions, and the seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king’s house: and he removed her and her maidens to the best place of the house of the women.
10 Esteri kò tí ì sọ nípa àwọn ènìyàn àti ìdílé e rẹ̀, nítorí Mordekai ti pàṣẹ fún un pé kí ó má ṣe sọ ọ́.
Esther had not shewed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not shew it.
11 Ní ojoojúmọ́ ni Mordekai máa ń rìn ní iwájú ilé àwọn obìnrin láti wo bí Esteri ṣe wà ní àlàáfíà àti ohun tí ó ṣẹlẹ̀ sí i.
And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women’s house, to know how Esther did, and what should become of her.
12 Kí àkókò tó tó fún obìnrin kọ̀ọ̀kan láti lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọba Ahaswerusi, ó ní láti lo ohun èlò tí ń mú ara lẹ́wà tí a yàn fún àwọn obìnrin fún oṣù méjìlá, yóò lo òróró òjìá fún oṣù mẹ́fà, yóò sì lo ohun èlò olóòórùn dídùn tùràrí àti ìpara fún oṣù mẹ́fà pẹ̀lú.
Now when the turn of every maiden was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that it had been done to her according to the law for the women, twelve months, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, [to wit], six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with the things for the purifying of the women, )
13 Báyìí ni yóò ṣe lọ síwájú ọba: ohunkóhun tí ó bá béèrè ni wọ́n fi fún un láti inú ilé àwọn obìnrin lọ sí ààfin ọba.
then in this wise came the maiden unto the king, whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king’s house.
14 Ní alẹ́ ni yóò lọ síbẹ̀, tí ó bá sì di òwúrọ̀ yóò padà sí ilé kejì nínú ilé àwọn obìnrin ní abẹ́ ìtọ́jú Ṣaaṣigasi ìwẹ̀fà ọba ẹni tí ó máa ń ṣe ìtọ́jú àwọn àlè. Òun kò ní lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọba mọ́ àyàfi tí inú ọba bá dùn sí i, tí ó sì ránṣẹ́ pé ó ní orúkọ obìnrin.
In the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second house of the women, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s chamberlain, which kept the concubines: she came in unto the king no more, except the king delighted in her, and that she were called by name.
15 Nígbà tí ó kan Esteri (ọmọbìnrin tí Mordekai gbà ṣe ọmọ, ọmọbìnrin arákùnrin rẹ̀ tí ó ń jẹ́ Abihaili) láti lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọba, wọn kò béèrè fún ohunkóhun ju èyí tí Hegai, ìwẹ̀fà ọba ẹni tí ó jẹ́ olùtọ́jú ilé àwọn obìnrin sọ pé kí ó ṣe lọ. Esteri sì rí ojúrere lọ́dọ̀ gbogbo àwọn tí ó rí i.
Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.
16 A mú Esteri lọ síwájú ọba Ahaswerusi ní ibùgbé ọba ní oṣù kẹwàá, tí ó jẹ́ oṣù Tebeti, ní ọdún keje ìjọba rẹ̀.
So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.
17 Esteri sì wu ọba ju àwọn obìnrin tókù lọ, Ó sì rí ojúrere àti oore-ọ̀fẹ́ gbà ju ti àwọn wúńdíá tókù lọ. Nítorí náà ó fi adé ọba dé e ní orí ó sì fi ṣe ayaba dípò Faṣti.
And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.
18 Ọba sì ṣe àsè ńlá, àsè Esteri, fún gbogbo àwọn ọlọ́lá àti àwọn ìjòyè e rẹ̀. Ó sì kéde ìsinmi jákèjádò ìgbèríko ó sì pín ẹ̀bùn fún wọn pẹ̀lú bí ọba ṣe lawọ́ tó.
Then the king made a great feast unto all his princes and his servants, even Esther’s feast; and he made a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the bounty of the king.
19 Nígbà tí àwọn wúńdíá tún péjọ ní ìgbà kejì, Mordekai jókòó sí ẹnu-ọ̀nà ọba.
And when the virgins were gathered together the second time, then Mordecai sat in the king’s gate.
20 Ṣùgbọ́n Esteri pa àṣírí ìdílé e rẹ̀ àti ibi tí ó ti wá mọ́ gẹ́gẹ́ bí Mordekai ṣe sọ fún un pé kí ó ṣe, nítorí tí ó ń tẹ̀lé àṣẹ tí Mordekai fún un gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ṣe máa ń ṣe nígbà tí ó wà ní ọ̀dọ̀ Mordekai.
Esther had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people; as Mordecai had charged her: for Esther did the commandment of Mordecai, like as when she was brought up with him.
21 Ní àsìkò tí Mordekai jókòó sí ẹnu-ọ̀nà ọba, Bigitana àti Tereṣi, àwọn ìjòyè ọba méjì tí wọ́n máa ń ṣọ́ ẹnu-ọ̀nà, wọ́n bínú, wọ́n sì ń wá ọ̀nà láti pa ọba Ahaswerusi.
In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king’s gate, two of the king’s chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay hands on the king Ahasuerus.
22 Ṣùgbọ́n Mordekai sì mọ̀ nípa ọ̀tẹ̀ náà, ó sọ̀ fún ayaba Esteri, Esteri sì sọ fún ọba, wọ́n sì fi ọlá fún Mordekai.
And the thing was known to Mordecai, who shewed it unto Esther the queen; and Esther told the king [thereof] in Mordecai’s name.
23 Nígbà tí wọ́n sì wádìí ọ̀rọ̀ náà tí ó sì jásí òtítọ́, a sì so àwọn ìjòyè méjèèjì náà kọ́. Gbogbo nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni a kọ sínú ìwé ìtàn ní iwájú ọba.
And when inquisition was made of the matter, and it was found to be so, they were both hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.
