< Deuteronomy 8 >

All the commandment which I command thee this day ye shall observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which Jehovah swore to your fathers.

And thou shall remember all the way which Jehovah thy God has led thee these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble thee, to prove thee, to know what was in thy heart, whether thou would keep his commandments, or not.
3 Ó rẹ̀ yín sílẹ̀ nípa fífi ebi pa yín, Ó sì fi manna bọ́ ọ yín, èyí tí ẹ kò mọ̀, tí àwọn baba yín kò mọ̀, kí ó ba à lè kọ́ ọ yín pé, ènìyàn kò ti ipa oúnjẹ nìkan wà láààyè, bí kò ṣe ohun gbogbo tí ó jáde láti ẹnu Olúwa wá.
And he humbled thee, and allowed thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knew not, neither did thy fathers know, that he might make thee know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of Jehovah.
4 Aṣọ yín kò gbó mọ́ ọn yín lọ́rùn bẹ́ẹ̀ ní ẹsẹ̀ yín kò sì wú, ní ogójì ọdún náà.
Thy raiment did not grow old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.

And thou shall consider in thy heart, that, as a man chastens his son, so Jehovah thy God chastens thee.
6 Nítorí èyí, ẹ gbọdọ̀ pa òfin Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín mọ́, nípa rínrìn ní ọ̀nà rẹ̀, àti bíbẹ̀rù rẹ̀.

10 Nígbà tí ẹ bá ti jẹ tí ẹ sì yó tán ẹ yin Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín fún pípèsè ilẹ̀ rere fún un yín.
And thou shall eat and be full, and thou shall bless Jehovah thy God for the good land which he has given thee.
11 Ẹ ṣọ́ra kí ẹ má gbàgbé Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín, nípa kíkùnà láti pa àṣẹ rẹ̀, àwọn òfin rẹ̀, àti àwọn ìlànà rẹ̀ tí mo ń fún un yín lónìí mọ́.
Beware lest thou forget Jehovah thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command thee this day.
12 Kí ó má ba à jẹ́ pé, nígbà tí ẹ bá jẹun yó tán, tí ẹ bá kọ́ ilé tí ó dára tán, tí ẹ sí ń gbé inú rẹ̀,

17 Ẹ lè rò nínú ara yín pé, “Agbára mi àti iṣẹ́ ọwọ́ mi ni ó mú ọ̀rọ̀ wọ̀nyí wá fún mi.”
And lest thou say in thy heart, My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth.

But thou shall remember Jehovah thy God, for it is he who gives thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore to thy fathers, as at this day.
19 Bí ẹ bá wá gbàgbé Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín, tí ẹ sì tẹ̀lé àwọn òrìṣà mìíràn, tí ẹ sì sìn wọ́n, tí ẹ sì foríbalẹ̀ fún wọn, Mo kìlọ̀ fún un yín pé rírun ni ẹ̀yin yóò run.
And it shall be, if thou shall forget Jehovah thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
20 Bí àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè tí Olúwa parun níwájú u yín, bákan náà ni ẹ ó parun, torí pé ẹ kò gbọ́rọ̀ sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín lẹ́nu.
As the nations that Jehovah makes to perish before you, so shall ye perish, because ye would not hearken to the voice of Jehovah your God.
