< Deuteronomy 17 >

1 Ẹ má ṣe fi màlúù tàbí àgùntàn tí ó ní àbùkù, tàbí àbàwọ́n rú ẹbọ sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín, nítorí ìríra ni èyí yóò jẹ́ fún un.
You must not sacrifice to Yahweh your God an ox or a sheep in which is any blemish or anything bad, for that would be an abomination to Yahweh your God.
2 Bí ọkùnrin tàbí obìnrin kan tó ń gbé láàrín yín ní èyíkéyìí ìlú wọ̀n-ọn-nì, tí Olúwa fún un yín bá ń ṣe ibi ní ojú Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín, ní ríré májẹ̀mú rẹ̀ kọjá,
If there is found among you, within any of your city gates that Yahweh your God is giving you, any man or woman who does what is evil in the sight of Yahweh your God and transgresses his covenant,
3 èyí tí ó lòdì sí òfin mi, ó ń sin ọlọ́run mìíràn, ó ń foríbalẹ̀ fún wọn: àní sí oòrùn, òṣùpá àti àwọn ìràwọ̀ ojú ọ̀run,
anyone who has gone and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, either the sun, the moon, or any of the host of heaven—nothing that I have commanded—
4 tí èyí sì dé etí ìgbọ́ ọ yín, kí ẹ wádìí ọ̀rọ̀ náà dájúdájú. Bí ó bá jẹ́ òtítọ́ tí ó sì hàn gbangba pé ó ti ṣe ohun ìríra yìí, ní Israẹli.
and if you are told about this, or if you have heard of it, then you must make a careful investigation. If it is true and certain that such an abomination has been done in Israel, this is what you should do.
5 Ẹ mú ọkùnrin tàbí obìnrin tí ó ti ṣe ibi yìí wá sí ẹnu-ọ̀nà ibodè ìlú u yín, kí ẹ sọ ọ́ ní òkúta pa.
You must bring that man or woman, who has done this evil thing, to your city gates, that very man or woman, and you must stone that person to death.
6 Lénu ẹlẹ́rìí méjì tàbí mẹ́ta ni a ó pa ọkùnrin náà tí ó yẹ láti kú, ṣùgbọ́n ẹ má ṣe pànìyàn nípasẹ̀ ẹlẹ́rìí kan ṣoṣo.
At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, will he who must die be put to death; but at the mouth of only one witness he must not be put to death.
7 Àwọn ẹlẹ́rìí ni kí ó kọ́kọ́ gbọ́wọ́ lé e láti pa á. Lẹ́yìn èyí ni kí gbogbo ènìyàn dáwọ́jọ láti pa á. Nípa báyìí, ẹ̀yin yóò sì fọ ohun búburú náà mọ́ kúrò ní àárín yín.
The hand of the witnesses must be the first to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people; and you will remove the evil from among you.
8 Bí ẹjọ́ bá wá sí ilé ẹjọ́ èyí tí ó nira jù láti dá, yálà ìtàjẹ̀ sílẹ̀ ni, ọ̀ràn dídá tàbí ìkanni-lábùkù, ẹ mú wọn lọ sí ibi tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín yóò yàn.
If a matter arises that is too hard for you to judge—perhaps a question of murder or accidental death, of one person's right and another person's right, or a question of one kind of harm done, or another kind of matter, matters of controversy within your city gates—then you must go up to the place that Yahweh your God will choose as his sanctuary.
9 Ẹ lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn àlùfáà tí í ṣe Lefi, àní sí ọ̀dọ̀ adájọ́ tí ó wà fún ìgbẹ́jọ́ ní ìgbà náà. Ẹ béèrè lọ́wọ́ wọn, wọn yóò sì ṣe ìdájọ́.
You must go to the priests, the descendants of Levi, and to the judge who will be serving at that time; you will seek their advice, and they will give you the verdict.
10 Kí ìwọ kí ó sì ṣe bí ọ̀rọ̀ ìdájọ́, ti àwọn ará ibi tí Olúwa yóò yàn náà yóò fihàn ọ, kí ìwọ kí ó sì máa kíyèsí àti máa ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bi gbogbo èyí tí wọn kọ́ ọ.
You must follow the law given to you at the place Yahweh will choose as his sanctuary. You will be careful to do everything that they direct you to do.
11 Ẹ ṣe bí òfin tí wọ́n kọ́ ọ yín, àti ìpinnu tí wọ́n fún un yín. Ẹ má ṣe yípadà sọ́tùn tàbí sósì, kúrò nínú ohun tí wọ́n sọ fún un yín.
Follow the law they teach you, and do according to the decisions they give you. Do not turn aside from what they tell you, to the right hand or to the left.
12 Ọkùnrin náà tí ó bá ṣe àìbọ̀wọ̀ fún adájọ́ tàbí àlùfáà tí ó ń ṣe iṣẹ́ ìránṣẹ́ sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín, níbẹ̀ ni kí ẹ pa á. Nípa báyìí ẹ̀yin yóò sì fọ ohun búburú náà mọ́ kúrò ní Israẹli.
Anyone who acts arrogantly, in not listening to the priest who is standing to serve before Yahweh your God, or in not listening to the judge—that man will die; you will put away the evil from Israel.
13 Gbogbo ènìyàn ni yóò sì gbọ́, ẹ̀rù yóò sì bà wọ́n, wọn kò sì ní ṣe àìgbọ́ràn mọ́.
All the people must hear and fear, and act arrogantly no more.
14 Nígbà tí ẹ bá dé ilẹ̀ náà tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín yóò fún un yín, tí ẹ sì ti gba ilẹ̀ náà, tí ẹ sì ń gbé inú rẹ̀, tí ẹ sì wá sọ pé, “Ẹ jẹ́ kí a yan ọba tí yóò jẹ lé wa lórí bí i ti àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè tí ó yí wa ká.”
When you have come to the land that Yahweh your God gives you, and when you take possession of it and begin to live in it, and then you say, 'I will set a king over myself, like all the nations that are round about me,'
15 Ẹ rí i dájú pé ọba tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín yàn fún un yín ní ẹ yàn. Ó gbọdọ̀ jẹ́ láàrín àwọn arákùnrin yín. Ẹ má ṣe fi àjèjì jẹ ọba lórí i yín: àní ẹni tí kì í ṣe arákùnrin ní Israẹli.
then you must surely set as king over yourself someone whom Yahweh your God will choose. You must set as king over yourself someone from among your brothers. You may not put a foreigner, who is not your brother, over yourself.
16 Síwájú sí i, ọba náà kò gbọdọ̀ kó ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ẹṣin jọ fún ara rẹ̀, tàbí kí ó rán àwọn ènìyàn náà padà sí Ejibiti láti wá àwọn ẹṣin sí i, nítorí pé Olúwa ti sọ fún un yín pé, “Ẹ kò gbọdọ̀ tún padà lọ ní ọ̀nà náà mọ́.”
But he must not multiply horses for himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt so that he may multiply horses, for Yahweh had said to you, 'You will never return that way again.'
17 Kò gbọdọ̀ kó aya jọ, kí ọkàn rẹ̀ má bá a yapa kúrò. Kò gbọdọ̀ kó fàdákà àti wúrà jọ fún ara rẹ̀ lọ́pọ̀lọ́pọ̀.
He must not take many wives for himself, so that his heart does not turn away. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.
18 Nígbà tí ó bá jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ ìjọba rẹ̀, kí ó ṣe àdàkọ àwọn òfin wọ̀nyí sí inú ìwé fún ara rẹ̀, láti inú ti àlùfáà tí wọ́n jẹ́ ọmọ Lefi.
When he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he must write for himself in a scroll a copy of this law, from the law that is before the priests, who are Levites.
19 Èyí yóò sì wà lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, òun ó sì máa kà nínú rẹ̀ ní gbogbo ọjọ́ ayé rẹ̀, kí ó lè máa kọ́ àti bẹ̀rù Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ̀, láti máa tẹ̀lé gbogbo ọ̀rọ̀ inú òfin yìí àti àwọn ìlànà rẹ̀ tọkàntọkàn.
The scroll must be with him, and he must read in it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to honor Yahweh his God, so as to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to observe them.
20 Kí ó má ba à lérò pé òun sàn ju àwọn arákùnrin rẹ̀ yòókù lọ, kí ó sì ti ipa bẹ́ẹ̀ yípadà kúrò nínú òfin wọ̀nyí sí ọ̀tún tàbí sí òsì. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni òun àti àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ yóò jẹ ọba pẹ́ títí ní Israẹli.
He must do this so that his heart is not lifted up above his brothers, and so that he does not turn away from the commandments, to the right hand or to the left; for the purpose that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children, among Israel.
