< Deuteronomy 14 >

1 Ọmọ Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín ni ẹ̀yin jẹ́: nítorí náà, ẹ má ṣe ya ara yín ní abẹ. Ẹ má ṣe gé irun iwájú orí yín nítorí òkú.
You are sons of the LORD your God; do not cut yourselves or shave your foreheads on behalf of the dead,
2 Nítorí pé ènìyàn mímọ́ ní ẹ jẹ́ fún Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín, nínú gbogbo ènìyàn tí ó wà lórí ilẹ̀ ayé, Ọlọ́run ti yàn yín láti jẹ́ ìṣúra iyebíye rẹ̀.
for you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD has chosen you to be a people for His prized possession out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.
3 Ẹ má ṣe jẹ ohun ìríra kankan.
You must not eat any detestable thing.
4 Àwọn wọ̀nyí ni ẹranko tí ẹ lè máa jẹ: màlúù, àgùntàn àti ewúrẹ́,
These are the animals that you may eat: The ox, the sheep, the goat,
5 àgbọ̀nrín, èsúró, etu, àgóró, ẹfọ̀n, ìgalà àti àgùntàn igbó.
the deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope, and the mountain sheep.
6 Ẹ lè jẹ gbogbo ẹranko tí pátákò ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀ kì í ṣe méjì tí ó sì tún jẹ àpọ̀jẹ.
You may eat any animal that has a split hoof divided in two and that chews the cud.
7 Síbẹ̀síbẹ̀ nínú gbogbo ẹran tí ń jẹ àpọ̀jẹ tí ó sì tún ya pátákò ẹsẹ̀ tí ẹ kò gbọdọ̀ jẹ ni: ìbákasẹ, ehoro, àti ẹranko tí ó dàbí ehoro tí ń gbé inú àpáta. Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé wọ́n jẹ àpọ̀jẹ, ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò la pátákò ẹsẹ̀, a kà wọ́n sí àìmọ́ fún yín.
But of those that chew the cud or have a completely divided hoof, you are not to eat the following: the camel, the rabbit, or the rock badger. Although they chew the cud, they do not have a divided hoof. They are unclean for you,
8 Ẹlẹ́dẹ̀ jẹ́ àìmọ́; bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé ó ya pátákò ẹsẹ̀, kì í jẹ àpọ̀jẹ, ẹ kò gbọdọ̀ jẹ ẹran rẹ̀, ẹ kò sì gbọdọ̀ fọwọ́ kan òkú rẹ̀.
as well as the pig; though it has a divided hoof, it does not chew the cud. It is unclean for you. You must not eat its meat or touch its carcass.
9 Nínú gbogbo ẹ̀dá alààyè tí ń gbé inú omi, ẹ lè jẹ èyíkéyìí tí ó ní lẹbẹ àti ìpẹ́.
Of all the creatures that live in the water, you may eat anything with fins and scales,
10 Ṣùgbọ́n èyíkéyìí tí kò bá ní lẹbẹ àti ìpẹ́, ẹ má ṣe jẹ ẹ́, nítorí pé àìmọ́ ni wọ́n jẹ́ fún yín.
but you may not eat anything that does not have fins and scales; it is unclean for you.
11 Ẹ lè jẹ ẹyẹ tí ó bá mọ́.
You may eat any clean bird,
12 Ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ̀nyí ní ẹ kò gbọdọ̀ jẹ: idì, igún, àkàlà,
but these you may not eat: the eagle, the bearded vulture, the black vulture,
13 onírúurú àṣá àti àṣá alátagbà,
the red kite, the falcon, any kind of kite,
14 onírúurú ẹyẹ ìwò,
any kind of raven,
15 ògòǹgò, òwìwí, pẹ́pẹ́yẹdò àti onírúurú àwòdì,
the ostrich, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk,
16 onírúurú òwìwí,
the little owl, the great owl, the white owl,
17 òwìwí ọ̀dàn, àkàlà, ìgò,
the desert owl, the osprey, the cormorant,
18 àkọ̀, òòdẹ̀, onírúurú ẹyẹ odò mìíràn, atọ́ka àti àdán.
the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe, or the bat.
19 Àti gbogbo kòkòrò tí ń fò tí wọ́n ń kọ́wọ̀ọ́ rìn jẹ́ aláìmọ́ fun un yín, ẹ má ṣe jẹ wọ́n.
All flying insects are unclean for you; they may not be eaten.
20 Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ lè jẹ èyíkéyìí ẹ̀dá abìyẹ́ tí ó bá mọ́.
But you may eat any clean bird.
21 Ẹ má ṣe jẹ ohun tí ó ti kú sílẹ̀. Ẹ lè fún àwọn àjèjì tí ń gbé ní èyíkéyìí nínú ìlú yín. Òun lè jẹ ẹ́ tàbí kí ẹ tà á fún àwọn àjèjì. Ṣùgbọ́n ènìyàn mímọ́ fún Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín ni ẹ̀yin jẹ́. Ìwọ kò gbọdọ̀ ṣe ewúrẹ́ nínú wàrà ìyá rẹ̀.
You are not to eat any carcass; you may give it to the foreigner residing within your gates, and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. For you are a holy people belonging to the LORD your God. You must not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.
22 Ẹ rí i dájú pé ẹ̀ ń fi ìdákan nínú mẹ́wàá nínú ìre oko yín lọ́dọọdún pamọ́ sí apá kan.
You must be sure to set aside a tenth of all the produce brought forth each year from your fields.
23 Ẹ jẹ ìdámẹ́wàá oúnjẹ yín, wáìnì tuntun, òróró, àti àkọ́bí àwọn màlúù yín àti ewúrẹ́ ẹ yín, níwájú Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín, ní ibi tí yóò yàn bí ibùgbé orúkọ rẹ̀. Kí ẹ lè kọ́ bí a ṣé ń bu ọlá fún Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín nígbà gbogbo.
And you are to eat a tenth of your grain, new wine, and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks, in the presence of the LORD your God at the place He will choose as a dwelling for His Name, so that you may learn to fear the LORD your God always.
24 Bí ibẹ̀ bá jì tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ sì ti bùkún fún ọ, tí o kò sì le ru àwọn ìdámẹ́wàá rẹ (nítorí pé ibi tí Olúwa yóò yàn láti fi orúkọ rẹ̀ sí jìnnà jù).
But if the distance is too great for you to carry that with which the LORD your God has blessed you, because the place where the LORD your God will choose to put His Name is too far away,
25 Ẹ pààrọ̀ àwọn ìdámẹ́wàá yín sí owó, ẹ mú owó náà lọ sí ibi tí Olúwa yóò yàn.
then exchange it for money, take the money in your hand, and go to the place the LORD your God will choose.
26 Fi owó náà ra ohunkóhun tí o bá fẹ́, màlúù, àgùntàn, wáìnì, tàbí ọtí líle, tàbí ohunkóhun tí o bá fẹ́. Kí ìwọ àti ìdílé rẹ sì jẹ ẹ́ níwájú Olúwa níbẹ̀ kí ẹ sì máa yọ̀.
Then you may spend the money on anything you desire: cattle, sheep, wine, strong drink, or anything you wish. You are to feast there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice with your household.
27 Ẹ má ṣe gbàgbé àwọn Lefi tí ó ń gbé nì ìlú yín, nítorí pé wọn kò ní ìpín kan tàbí ogún kan tí í ṣe tiwọn.
And do not neglect the Levite within your gates, since he has no portion or inheritance among you.
28 Ní òpin ọdún mẹ́ta mẹ́ta, ẹ̀yin yóò mú gbogbo ìdámẹ́wàá ìre oko àwọn ọdún náà, kí ẹ kó wọn jọ ní ìlú yín.
At the end of every three years, bring a tenth of all your produce for that year and lay it up within your gates.
29 Kí àwọn Lefi (tí kò ní ìpín tàbí ogún tiwọn) àti àwọn àjèjì, àwọn aláìní baba, àti àwọn opó tí ń gbé ìlú yín lè wá, kí wọn sì jẹ kí wọn sì yó, kí Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ le è bùkún fún ọ, nínú gbogbo iṣẹ́ ọwọ́ rẹ.
Then the Levite (because he has no portion or inheritance among you), the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow within your gates may come and eat and be satisfied. And the LORD your God will bless you in all the work of your hands.
