< Deuteronomy 13 >

1 Bí wòlíì tàbí alásọtẹ́lẹ̀ nípa àlá lílá bá farahàn láàrín yín, tí ó sì ń kéde iṣẹ́ àmì tàbí iṣẹ́ ìyanu,
If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and if he gives you a sign or a wonder,
2 bí iṣẹ́ àmì tàbí iṣẹ́ ìyanu tí ó sọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ bá ṣẹ tí òun sì wí pé, “ẹ wá ẹ jẹ́ kí a tẹ̀lé ọlọ́run mìíràn” (àwọn ọlọ́run tí ẹ kò mọ̀ rí) “kí ẹ sì jẹ́ kí a máa sìn wọ́n,”
and if the sign or the wonder comes about, of which he spoke to you and said, 'Let us go after other gods, that you have not known, and let us worship them,'
3 ẹ má fetí sí ọ̀rọ̀ wòlíì tàbí àlá náà, Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín ń dán an yín wò ni, láti mọ̀ bóyá ẹ fẹ́ràn rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú gbogbo àyà yín àti gbogbo ọkàn an yín.
do not listen to the words of that prophet, or to that dreamer of dreams; for Yahweh your God is testing you to know whether you love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
4 Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín ni kí ẹ tẹ̀lé, Òun ni kí ẹ bu ọlá fún, ẹ pa òfin rẹ̀ mọ́ kí ẹ sì gbọ́ tirẹ̀, ẹ sìn ín, kí ẹ sì dìímú ṣinṣin.
You will walk after Yahweh your God, honor him, keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and you will worship him and cling to him.
5 Wòlíì náà tàbí alálàá náà ni kí ẹ pa, nítorí pé wàásù ìṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín, tí ó mú yín jáde láti Ejibiti wá, tí ó sì rà yín padà lóko ẹrú. Ó ti gbìyànjú láti fà yín kúrò lójú ọ̀nà tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín ti pàṣẹ fún un yín láti máa rìn. Ẹ gbọdọ̀ yọ ibi náà kúrò láàrín yín.
That prophet or that dreamer of dreams will be put to death, because he has spoken rebellion against Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and who redeemed you out of the house of bondage. That prophet wants to draw you out of the way in which Yahweh your God commanded you to walk. So put away the evil from among you.
6 Bí arákùnrin tìrẹ gan an ọmọ ìyá rẹ tàbí ọmọ rẹ ọkùnrin tàbí obìnrin, aya tí o fẹ́ràn jù, tàbí ọ̀rẹ́ tímọ́tímọ́ bá tàn ọ́ jẹ níkọ̀kọ̀ wí pé, “Jẹ́ kí a lọ sin ọlọ́run mìíràn” (ọlọ́run tí ìwọ tàbí baba rẹ kò mọ̀,
Suppose that your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is to you like your own soul, secretly entices you and says, 'Let us go and worship other gods that you have not known, neither you nor your ancestors—
7 ọlọ́run àwọn tí ó wà láyìíká yín, yálà wọ́n jìnnà tàbí wọ́n wà nítòsí, láti òpin ilẹ̀ kan dé òmíràn),
any of the gods of the peoples that are round about you, near to you, or far off from you, from the one end of the earth to the other end of the earth.'
8 má ṣe fetí sí i, má sì dá sí i, má ṣe dáàbò bò ó.
You must not give in to him or listen to him, and you must not permit your eye to pity him, and you must not spare him or conceal him.
9 Ṣùgbọ́n pípa ni kí o pa á. Ọwọ́ rẹ ni yóò kọ́kọ́ wà lára rẹ̀ láti pa á, lẹ́yìn náà ọwọ́ gbogbo ènìyàn.
Instead, you will surely kill him; your hand will be the first on him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
10 Sọ ọ́ ní òkúta pa nítorí pé ó gbìyànjú láti fà ọ́ kúrò lẹ́yìn Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ, tí ó mú ọ jáde ti Ejibiti wá kúrò ní oko ẹrú.
You will stone him to death with stones, because he has tried to draw you away from Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
11 Gbogbo Israẹli yóò sì gbọ́, ẹ̀rù yóò sì bà wọ́n, kò sì sí ẹnikẹ́ni nínú yín tí yóò dán irú ibi bẹ́ẹ̀ wò mọ́.
All Israel will hear and fear, and will not continue to do this kind of wickedness among you.
12 Bí ẹ̀yin bá gbọ́ tí a sọ nípa èyíkéyìí nínú àwọn ìlú u yín tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín fún un yín láti máa gbé,
If you hear anyone say about one of your cities, that Yahweh your God gives you to live in:
13 pé àwọn ènìyàn búburú, ti farahàn láàrín yín, tí ó sì ti mú kí àwọn ènìyàn ìlú wọn ṣìnà lọ, tí wọ́n wí pé, “Ẹ jẹ́ kí a lọ sin ọlọ́run mìíràn.” (àwọn ọlọ́run tí ẹ kò mọ̀.)
Some wicked fellows have gone out from among you and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city and said, 'Let us go and worship other gods that you have not known.'
14 Kí ẹ wádìí, ẹ béèrè, kí ẹ sì tọpinpin ọ̀rọ̀ náà dájúṣáká, bí ó bá jẹ́ òtítọ́ ni, tí ó sì hàn dájú pé ìwà ìríra yìí ti ṣẹlẹ̀ láàrín yín.
Then you will examine the evidence, make search, and investigate it thoroughly. When you discover that it is true and certain that such an abominable thing has been done among you, then you will take action.
15 Gbogbo àwọn tí ó ń gbé ìlú náà ni kí ẹ fi idà run pátápátá. Ẹ run ún pátápátá, àti ènìyàn àti ẹran ọ̀sìn inú rẹ̀.
You will surely attack the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, completely destroy it and all the people who are in it, along with its livestock, with the edge of the sword.
You will gather all the spoil from it into the middle of its street and will burn the city, as well as all its spoil—for Yahweh your God. The city will be a heap of ruins forever; it must never be built again.
17 A kò gbọdọ̀ rí ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ohun ìyàsọ́tọ̀ fún ìparun wọ̀n-ọn-nì lọ́wọ́ yín, kí Olúwa ba à le yípadà kúrò nínú ìbínú gbígbóná rẹ̀, yóò sì ṣàánú fún un yín, yóò sì bá a yín kẹ́dùn, yóò sì mú kí ẹ pọ̀ sí i, bí ó ti fì búra ṣèlérí fún àwọn baba ńlá yín.
None of those things set apart for destruction must stick in your hand. This must be the case, so that Yahweh will turn from the fierceness of his anger, show you mercy, have compassion on you, and make you increase in numbers, as he has sworn to your fathers.
18 Nítorí pé ẹ̀yin gbọ́rọ̀ sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín, tí ẹ̀yin sì ń pa òfin rẹ̀ mọ́, tí mo ń fún un yín lónìí yìí, tí ẹ̀yin sì ń ṣe ohun tí ó tọ́ lójú rẹ̀.
He will do this because you are listening to the voice of Yahweh your God, to keep all his commandments that I am commanding you today, to do that which is right in the eyes of Yahweh your God.
