< Amos 8 >

1 Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa Olódùmarè fihàn mi: agbọ̀n èso pípọ́n.
The Lord God showed me this: a basket of summer fruit.
2 Ó béèrè pé, “Amosi kí ni ìwọ rí.” Mo sì dáhùn pé, “Agbọ̀n èso pípọ́n.” Nígbà náà ni Olúwa wí fún mi pé, “Àsìkò náà pọ́n tó fún àwọn ènìyàn mi Israẹli; Èmi kì yóò dá wọn sí mọ́.”
“What do you see, Amos?” he asked. I replied, “A basket of ripe summer fruit.” Then the Lord said to me: The time is ripe for my people Israel, I will no longer overlook their crimes.
3 Olúwa Olódùmarè wí pé, “Ní ọjọ́ náà, àwọn orin tẹmpili yóò yí padà sí ohùn réré ẹkún. Ọ̀pọ̀, àní ọ̀pọ̀ ara òkú ni yóò wà ni ibi gbogbo! Àní ni ìdákẹ́ jẹ́ẹ́!”
The singing women in the palace will howl on that day, says the Lord: Corpses everywhere, thrown out in silence.
4 Ẹ gbọ́ èyí, ẹ̀yin tí ń tẹ aláìní lórí ba, tí ẹ sì ń sọ tálákà di ilẹ̀.
Listen to this, you who trample on the needy, who oppress the poor of the earth,
5 Tí ẹ ń wí pé, “Nígbà wo ni oṣù tuntun yóò parí kí àwa bá à lè ta ọkà kí ọjọ́ ìsinmi kí ó lè dópin kí àwa bá à le ta jéró?” Kí a sì dín ìwọ̀n wa kù kí a gbéraga lórí iye tí a ó tà á kí a sì fi òsùwọ̀n èké yàn wọ́n jẹ,
saying: When will the feast of the new moon be over so that we may sell grain? And the sabbath ended so that we may offer wheat for sale? Reducing the measure and increasing the price, cheating with false scales,
6 kí àwa lè fi fàdákà ra àwọn tálákà, kí a sì fi bàtà ẹsẹ̀ méjèèjì ra aláìní, kí a sì ta jéró tí a kó mọ́ ilẹ̀.
mixing the sweepings in with the wheat. Then we can buy the poor for money, the needy for a pair of shoes.
7 Olúwa ti fi ìgbéraga Jakọbu búra pé, “Èmi kì yóò gbàgbé ọ̀kan nínú ohun tí wọ́n ṣe.
Now the Lord has taken an oath by the Pride of Jacob: I will never forget all their deeds!
8 “Ǹjẹ́ ilẹ̀ náà kì yóò ha wárìrì fún èyí? Àwọn tí ń gbé inú rẹ̀ kì yóò ha ṣọ̀fọ̀? Gbogbo ilẹ̀ yóò ru sókè bí omi Naili, yóò sì ru ú sókè pátápátá bí ìkún omi a ó sì tì í jáde, a ó sì tẹ̀ ẹ́ rì gẹ́gẹ́ bí odò Ejibiti.
Because of this won’t the land quake, and all its inhabitants mourn? Won’t the whole of it rise like the Nile, churn and subside like the Nile in Egypt?
9 “Yóò sì ṣe ní ọjọ́ náà,” ni Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, “Èmi yóò mú oòrùn wọ̀ ní ọ̀sán, Èmi yóò mú kí ayé ṣókùnkùn ní ọ̀sán gangan.
On that day, says the Lord God, I will make the sun set at noon and darken the earth in broad daylight.
10 Èmí yóò yí àsè ẹ̀sìn yín padà sí ọ̀fọ̀, gbogbo orin yín ni èmi yóò sọ di ẹkún. Èmi yóò mú kí gbogbo yín wọ aṣọ ọ̀fọ̀, kí a sì fá orí yín. Èmi yóò mú kí ìgbà náà rí bí ìṣọ̀fọ̀ fún ọmọkùnrin kan ṣoṣo tí a bí àti òpin rẹ̀ bí ọjọ́ kíkorò.
I will turn your feasts into mourning, all your songs into dirges. I will cause you to dress in sackcloth, every head shaved. I will make you mourn like you have lost your only son, all that happens will end in bitterness.
11 “Ọjọ́ ń bọ̀,” ni Olúwa Olódùmarè wí, “nígbà tí èmi yóò rán ìyàn sí ilẹ̀ náà, kì í ṣe ìyàn oúnjẹ tàbí òǹgbẹ fún omi. Ṣùgbọ́n ìyàn gbígbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa.
The day is coming, says the Lord God, when I will send hunger in the land. Not a famine of bread or thirst for water, but for hearing the message of the Lord.
12 Àwọn ènìyàn yóò rìn kiri láti Òkun dé Òkun wọn yóò sì máa rìn ká láti gúúsù sí àríwá, wọn yóò máa wá ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa ṣùgbọ́n wọn kì yóò rí i.
Then they will wander from sea to sea, from the north to the east, to seek a message from the Lord, but they will not find it.
13 “Ní ọjọ́ náà “àwọn arẹwà wúńdíá àti àwọn alágbára ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin yóò dákú fún òǹgbẹ omi.
In that day beautiful girls and strong young men will faint from thirst.
14 Àwọn tí ó fi ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ Samaria búra, tí wọ́n sì wí pé, ‘Bí ó ti dájú pé ọlọ́run rẹ ń bẹ láààyè, ìwọ Dani,’ bí ó ti dájú pè ọlọ́run rẹ ń bẹ láààyè, ìwọ Beerṣeba, wọ́n yóò ṣubú, wọn kì yóò si tún dìde mọ.”
Those who take oaths by the shameful idol of Samaria, who swear, ‘As surely as your God lives, O Dan!’ and, ‘By the sacred way to Beer-sheba!’ – they will fall and never rise again.
