< Amos 7 >

1 Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa Olódùmarè fihàn mí: Ó pèsè ọwọ́ eṣú lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí a kórè ìpín ọba, ní ìgbà ti èso ẹ̀ẹ̀kejì ń jáde bọ̀.
Thus did the Lord Eternal show unto me: and, behold, he was forming locusts in the beginning of the sprouting up of the latter groweth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings [was over].
And it came to pass, when they had made an end of eating up the herbs of the earth, that I said, O Lord Eternal, forgive, I beseech thee: how should Jacob be able to endure, since he is so small!
3 Olúwa ronúpìwàdà nípa èyí. “Èyí kò ni ṣẹlẹ̀,” ni Olúwa wí.
The Lord bethought himself of this: It shall not be, said the Lord.
4 Èyí ni ohun ti Olúwa Olódùmarè fihàn mí: Olúwa Olódùmarè ń pè fún ìdájọ́ pẹ̀lú iná; ó jó ọ̀gbun ńlá rún, ó sì jẹ ilẹ̀ run.
Thus did the Lord Eternal show unto me: and, behold, the Lord Eternal called forth the punishment by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and consumed the ploughed field.
Then said I, O Lord Eternal, forbear, I beseech thee: how should Jacob be able to endure, since he is so small!
6 Olúwa ronúpìwàdà nípa èyí. “Èyí náà kò ní ṣẹlẹ̀,” ni Olúwa Olódùmarè wí.
The Lord bethought himself of this: Also this shall not be, said the Lord Eternal.
7 Èyí ni ohun tí ó fihàn mí: Olúwa dúró ní ẹ̀gbẹ́ odi ti a fi okùn ìwọ̀n mọ́, ti òun ti okùn ìwọ̀n tí ó rún ni ọwọ́ rẹ̀.
Thus he showed unto me: and, behold, the Lord was standing upon a wall [made] by a plumbline, and in his hand was a plumbline.
8 Olúwa sì bi mi pé, “Amosi, kí ni ìwọ rí?” Mo dáhùn pé, “Okùn ìwọ̀n.” Nígbà náà ni Olúwa wí pé, “Wò ó, Èmí ń gbé okùn ìwọ̀n kalẹ̀ láàrín àwọn Israẹli ènìyàn mi; Èmi kì yóò sì tún kọjá lọ́dọ̀ wọn mọ́.
And the Lord said unto me, What dost thou see, 'Amos? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel; I will not farther indulge them any more.
9 “Ibi gíga Isaaki wọ̀n-ọn-nì yóò sì di ahoro àti ibi mímọ Israẹli wọ̀n-ọn-nì yóò di ahoro. Èmi yóò sì fi idà dìde sí ilé Jeroboamu.”
And the high places of Isaac shall be made desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid in ruins: and I will rise up against the house of Jerobo'am with the sword.
10 Nígbà náà Amasiah àlùfáà Beteli ránṣẹ́ sí Jeroboamu ọba Israẹli, wí pé: “Amosi ti dìde láti dìtẹ̀ sí ọ ni àárín gbùngbùn Israẹli. Ilẹ̀ kò sì le gba gbogbo ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀.
Then sent Amazyah, the priest of Beth-el, to Jerobo'am the king of Israel, saying, 'Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
11 Nítorí èyí ni ohun ti Amosi ń sọ: “‘Jeroboamu yóò ti ipa idà kú, lóòtítọ́ Israẹli yóò lọ sí ìgbèkùn, jìnnà kúrò ní ilẹ̀ ìní wọn.’”
For thus hath 'Amos said, By the sword shall Jerobo'am die, and Israel shall surely be led away into exile out of their own land.
12 Nígbà náà ni Amasiah sọ fún Amosi pé, “Lọ jáde, ìwọ aríran! Padà sí ilẹ̀ àwọn Juda. Kí o máa jẹun rẹ níbẹ̀, kí o sì máa sọtẹ́lẹ̀ rẹ̀ níbẹ̀.
And Amazyah said unto 'Amos, Seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and eat there [thy] bread, and there prophesy;
13 Má ṣe sọtẹ́lẹ̀ mọ ni Beteli nítorí ibi mímọ́ ọba ni àti ibi tẹmpili ìjọba rẹ̀.”
But at Beth-el prophesy not farther any more; for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is a royal residence.
14 Amosi dá Amasiah lóhùn pé, “Èmi kì í ṣe wòlíì tàbí àwọn ọmọ wòlíì, ṣùgbọ́n mo jẹ́ olùṣọ́-àgùntàn, mo sì ń ṣe ìtọ́jú igi ọ̀pọ̀tọ́ sikamore.
Then answered 'Amos, and said to Amazyah, I am no prophet, nor am I a prophet's son; but I am a herdman, and a gatherer of wild figs;
15 Ṣùgbọ́n Olúwa mu mi bí mo ti ń tọ́ agbo ẹran lẹ́yìn, ó sì wí fun mi pé, ‘Lọ sọtẹ́lẹ̀ fun àwọn Israẹli ènìyàn mi.’
But the Lord hath taken me away from behind the flocks, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
16 Nítorí náà nísinsin yìí, gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa. Ìwọ wí pé, “‘Má ṣe sọ àsọtẹ́lẹ̀ sí Israẹli, má sì ṣe wàásù sí ilé Isaaki.’
And now hear thou the word of the Lord, Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and preach not against the house of Isaac.
17 “Nítorí náà, èyí ni ohun ti Olúwa wí: “‘Ìyàwó rẹ yóò di panṣágà ni ìlú, àwọn ọmọ ọkùnrin àti obìnrin rẹ yóò ti ipa idà ṣubú. A ó fi okùn wọn ilẹ̀ rẹ, a ó sì pín in àti ìwọ pẹ̀lú yóò kú ni ilẹ̀ àìmọ́. Israẹli yóò sì lọ sí ìgbèkùn, kúrò ní ilẹ̀ ìní wọn.’”
Therefore thus hath said the Lord, Thy wife will play the harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided out by the line; and thou shalt die in an unclean land; and Israel shall surely be led forth into exile out of their land.
