Acts 21
1 Lẹ́yìn tí àwa ti kúrò lọ́dọ̀ wọn, tí a sì ṣíkọ̀, àwa bá ọ̀nà wa lọ tààrà sí Kosi. Ní ọjọ́ kejì a sì lọ sí Rodu, à si gba ibẹ̀ lọ sí Patara,
When at least we had torn ourselves away, and had set sail, we ran a straight course to Cos, and next day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara.
2 A rí ọkọ̀ ojú omi kan tí ń rékọjá lọ sí Fonisia, a wọ inú ọkọ̀ náà, a sì ṣíkọ̀.
And when we had found a ship bound for Phoenicia, we went aboard and set sail.
3 Nígbà tí àwa sì ń wo Saipurọsi lókèèrè, a sì fi í sí ọwọ́ òsì, a fi orí ọ́kọ̀ le Siria, a sì gúnlẹ̀ ni Tire; nítorí níbẹ̀ ni ọkọ̀ yóò tí já ẹrù sílẹ̀.
After sighting Cyprus and leaving it on the left hand, we sailed for Syria, and put in at Tyre; for there the ship was to unload her cargo.
4 Nígbà tí a sì ti rí àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn níbẹ̀, a dúró ní ọ̀dọ̀ wọn níbẹ̀ fún ọjọ́ méje: àwọn ẹni tí ó ti ipá Ẹ̀mí wí fún Paulu pé, kí ó má ṣe lọ sí Jerusalẹmu.
We looked up the local disciples and remained there seven days; and these disciples kept telling Paul, through the Spirit, that he should not set foot in Jerusalem.
5 Nígbà tí a sì tí lo ọjọ́ wọ̀nyí tan, àwa jáde, a sì mu ọ̀nà wá pọ̀n; gbogbo wọn sì sìn wá, pẹ̀lú àwọn obìnrin àti àwọn ọmọdé títí àwa fi jáde sí ẹ̀yìn ìlú, nígbà tí àwa sì gúnlẹ̀ ní èbúté, a sì gbàdúrà.
When, however, our time was up, we left and started on our journey; and all of them, with wives and children, were escorting us on our way until we were out of the city; then, kneeling down on the beach, we prayed,
6 Nígbà tí a sì ti dágbére fún ara wa, a bọ́ sí ọkọ̀; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn sì padà lọ sí ilé wọn.
and said good-bye, and went on board the ship, while they returned home again.
7 Nígbà tí a sì ti parí àjò wa láti Tire, àwa dé Pitolemai; nígbà ti a sì kí àwọn ará, a sì bá wọn gbé ní ọjọ́ kan.
And when we had finished the voyage from Tyre, we reached Ptolemais, and greeted the brothers and stayed with them one day.
8 Ní ọjọ́ kejì a lọ kúrò, a sì wá sí Kesarea; nígbà tí á sì wọ ilé Filipi efangelisti tí ó jẹ́ ọ̀kan nínú àwọn méje; àwa sì wọ̀ sọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀.
On the morrow we started for Caesarea, where we went into the house of Philip, the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him.
9 Ọkùnrin yìí sì ní ọmọbìnrin mẹ́rin, wúńdíá, tí wọ́n máa ń sọtẹ́lẹ̀.
Now Philip had four unmarried daughters who prophesied,
10 Bí a sì tí wà níbẹ̀ lọ́jọ́ púpọ̀, wòlíì kan tí Judea sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá, tí a ń pè ní Agabu.
and while we remained there many days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea.
11 Nígbà tí ó sì dé ọ̀dọ̀ wa, ó mú àmùrè Paulu, ó sì de ara rẹ̀ ní ọwọ́ àti ẹsẹ̀, ó sì wí pé, “Báyìí ni Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ wí, ‘Báyìí ni àwọn Júù tí ó wà ní Jerusalẹmu yóò de ọkùnrin tí ó ní àmùrè yìí, wọn ó sì fi í lé àwọn aláìkọlà lọ́wọ́.’”
He came to us, and taking Paul’s girdle, he bound his own feet and hands, saying, "Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘so will the Jews at Jerusalem bind the owner of this girdle, and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’"
12 Nígbà tí a sì tí gbọ́ nǹkan wọ̀nyí, àti àwa, àti àwọn ará ibẹ̀ náà bẹ̀ ẹ́ pé, kí ó má ṣe gòkè lọ sí Jerusalẹmu.
As soon as we heard these words, both we and those who were standing near entreated Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.
13 Nígbà náà ni Paulu dáhùn wí pé, “Èwo ni ẹ̀yin ń ṣe yìí, tí ẹ̀yin ń sọkún, tí ẹ sì ń mú àárẹ̀ bá ọkàn mi; nítorí èmí tí múra tan, kì í ṣe fún dídè nìkan, ṣùgbọ́n láti kú pẹ̀lú ni Jerusalẹmu, nítorí orúkọ Jesu Olúwa.”
"What do you mean by thus breaking my heart with your grief?" answered Paul. "For I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem, for the name of the Lord Jesus."
14 Nígbà tí a kò lè pa á ní ọkàn dà, a dákẹ́ wí pé, “Ìfẹ́ tí Olúwa ni kí ó ṣe!”
And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, "The will of the Lord be done."
15 Lẹ́yìn ọjọ́ wọ̀nyí, a palẹ̀mọ́, a sì gòkè lọ sí Jerusalẹmu.
A few days after this we took up our luggage and went up to Jerusalem.
16 Nínú àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn láti Kesarea bá wa lọ, wọ́n sì mú wa lọ sí ilé Munasoni ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn àtijọ́ kan ara Saipurọsi, lọ́dọ̀ ẹni tí àwa yóò dé sí.
And some of the disciples from Caesarea accompanied us. They led us to the house of Mnason, a Cypriote, a disciple of long standing, with whom we were to lodge.
17 Nígbà tí a sì dé Jerusalẹmu, àwọn arákùnrin sì fi ayọ̀ gbà wá.
At length we reached Jerusalem, and the brothers there received us gladly.
18 Ní ọjọ́ kejì, a bá Paulu lọ sọ́dọ̀ Jakọbu; gbogbo àwọn alàgbà sì wà níbẹ̀.
On the following day we went with Paul to call on James, and all the elders were present.
19 Nígbà tí ó sì kí wọn tan, ó ròyìn lẹ́sẹẹsẹ ohun gbogbo tí Ọlọ́run ṣe láàrín àwọn aláìkọlà nípa iṣẹ́ ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀.
After saluting them Paul rehearsed, one by one, the things that God had done among the Gentiles by his ministry.
20 Nígbà tí wọ́n sì gbọ́, wọ́n yin Ọlọ́run lógo, wọ́n sì wí fún un pé, “Arákùnrin, ìwọ rí iye ẹgbẹẹgbẹ̀rún nínú àwọn Júù tí ó gbàgbọ́, gbogbo wọn ni ó sì ní ìtara fún òfin.
And they, when they heard it, glorified God, and said to him. "You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews, of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the Law.
21 Wọ́n sì ti ròyìn rẹ̀ fún wọn pé, ìwọ ń kọ́ gbogbo àwọn Júù tí ó wà láàrín àwọn aláìkọlà pé, kí wọn kọ Mose sílẹ̀, ó ń wí fún wọn pé kí wọn má ṣe kọ àwọn ọmọ wọn ní ilà mọ́, kí wọn má sì ṣe rìn gẹ́gẹ́ bí àṣà wọn.
"Now what they have been told about you, again and again, is that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles, to forsake Moses, and not to circumcise their children, nor to follow the old customs.
22 Ǹjẹ́ èwo ni ṣíṣe? Ìjọ kò lè ṣàìmá péjọpọ̀: dájúdájú wọn yóò gbọ́ pé, ìwọ dé.
"What then ought to be done? They will certainly hear that you are come.
23 Ǹjẹ́ èyí tí àwa ó wí fún ọ yìí ni kí o ṣe, àwa ni ọkùnrin mẹ́rin tí wọ́n wà lábẹ́ ẹ̀jẹ́.
"So do this that we tell you.
24 Àwọn ni kí ìwọ mú, kí o sì ṣe ìwẹ̀nùmọ́ pẹ̀lú wọn, kí ó sì san owó láti fá irun orí wọn: gbogbo ènìyàn yóò sì mọ̀ pé, kò sì òtítọ́ kan nínú ohun tí wọ́n gbọ́ sí ọ; àti pé, ìwọ tìkára rẹ ń rìn déédé, ìwọ sì ń pa òfin Mose mọ́.
"We have four men here under a vow; associate yourself with them, purify yourself with them, and pay their expenses so that they may have their heads shaved; then every one will know that there is no truth in the rumors that they have heard about you; but that you yourself walk orderly obeying the law.
25 Ṣùgbọ́n ní ti àwọn aláìkọlà tí ó gbàgbọ́, àwa tí kọ̀wé, a sì ti pinnu rẹ̀ pé, kí wọn pa ara wọn mọ́ kúrò nínú ohun tí a fi rú ẹbọ sí òrìṣà, àti ẹ̀jẹ̀ àti ohun ìlọ́lọ́rùnpa, àti àgbèrè.”
"As for the Gentile believers, we wrote giving judgment that they should abstain from anything sacrificed to an idol, from blood, from what is strangled, and from fornication."
26 Nígbà náà ni Paulu mú àwọn ọkùnrin náà; ní ọjọ́ kejì ó ṣe ìwẹ̀nùmọ́ pẹ̀lú wọn, ó sì wọ inú tẹmpili lọ, láti sọ ìgbà tí ọjọ́ ìwẹ̀nùmọ́ náà yóò pé tí a ó sì fi ọrẹ lélẹ̀ fún olúkúlùkù wọn.
Then Paul took the men, and after purifying himself with them next day, went into the temple to declare the fulfilment of the days of purification, until the offering was offered for every one of them.
27 Nígbà tí ọjọ́ méje sì fẹ́rẹ̀ pé, tí àwọn Júù tí ó ti Asia wá rí i ni tẹmpili, wọ́n rú gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn sókè, wọ́n nawọ́ mú un.
But when the seven days were almost over, the Asiatic Jews caught sight of him in the temple, and began to stir up all the crowd, and laid hands on him, shouting.
28 Wọ́n ń kígbe wí pé, “Ẹ̀yin ènìyàn Israẹli, ẹ gbà wá. Èyí ni ọkùnrin náà tí ń kọ́ gbogbo ènìyàn níbi gbogbo lòdì sí àwọn ènìyàn, àti sí òfin, àti sí ibí yìí, àti pẹ̀lú ó sì mú àwọn ará Giriki wá sínú tẹmpili, ó sì tí ba ibi mímọ́ yìí jẹ́.”
"Men of Israel, help! This is the man who goes everywhere preaching to everybody against the people, and the Law, and this place. And he has actually brought Gentiles even into the temple, and has desecrated the holy place."
29 Nítorí wọ́n tí rí Tirofimu ará Efesu pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ ní ìlú, ẹni tí wọ́n ṣe bí Paulu mú wá sínú tẹmpili.
(For they had formerly seen Trophimus, the Ephesian, with him in the city, and supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple.)
30 Gbogbo ìlú sì wà ní ìrúkèrúdò, àwọn ènìyàn sì súré jọ wọ́n sì mú Paulu, wọ́n sì wọ́ ọ jáde kúrò nínú tẹmpili: lójúkan náà, a sì ti ìlẹ̀kùn.
The whole city was thrown into uproar. The mob surged together, seized Paul, and began to drag him outside the temple. Whereupon the doors were at once shut.
31 Bí wọn sì ti ń wá ọ̀nà láti pa á, ìròyìn dé ọ̀dọ̀ olórí ẹgbẹ́ ọmọ-ogun pé, gbogbo Jerusalẹmu ti dàrú.
While they were attempting to kill him, news came to the tribune commander of the garrison that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.
32 Lójúkan náà, ó sì ti mú àwọn ọmọ-ogun àti àwọn balógun ọ̀rún, ó sì súré sọ̀kalẹ̀ tọ̀ wọ́n lọ; nígbà tí wọ́n sì rí í olórí ogun àti àwọn ọmọ-ogun dẹ́kun lílù Paulu.
At once he took soldiers and centurions, and rushed down upon them. When they saw the tribune and the troops, they left off beating Paul.
33 Nígbà náà ni olórí ogun súnmọ́ wọn, ó sì mú un, ó pàṣẹ pé kí a fi ẹ̀wọ̀n méjì dè é; ó sì béèrè ẹni tí ó jẹ́, àti ohun tí ó ṣe.
Then the tribune came up and seized him, and ordered that he be bound with two chains. "Who is he?" he began asking, "and what has he done?"
34 Àwọn kan ń kígbe ohun kan, àwọn mìíràn ń kígbe ohun mìíràn nínú àwùjọ; nígbà tí kò sì lè mọ̀ ìdí pàtàkì fún ìrúkèrúdò náà, ó pàṣẹ kí wọ́n mú un lọ sínú àgọ́ àwọn ológun.
Some among the crowd kept shouting one thing, some another; and when the tribune could not learn the facts because of the uproar, he ordered Paul into the barracks.
35 Nígbà tí ó sì dé orí àtẹ̀gùn, gbígbé ni a gbé e sókè lọ́wọ́ àwọn ọmọ-ogun nítorí ìwà ipá àwọn ènìyàn.
When was going up the steps, he had to be carried by the soldiers, because of the violence of the mob,
36 Nítorí ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn rọ́ tẹ̀lé e, wọ́n ń kígbe pé, “Mú un kúrò!”
for the whole mass of the people were following him, shouting, "Away with him!"
37 Bí wọ́n sì tí fẹ́rẹ̀ mú Paulu wọ inú àgọ́ àwọn ológun lọ, ó wí fún olórí ogun pé, “Èmi ha lè bá ọ sọ̀rọ̀ bí?” Ó sì dáhùn wí pé, “Ìwọ mọ èdè Giriki bí?
Just as he was about to be taken into the barracks, Paul said to the tribune, "May I speak to you?"
38 Ìwọ ha kọ ní ara Ejibiti náà, tí ó ṣọ̀tẹ̀ ṣáájú ọjọ́ wọ̀nyí, ti ó sì ti mú ẹgbàajì ọkùnrin nínú àwọn tí í ṣe apànìyàn lẹ́yìn lọ sí ijù?”
"Do you know Greek?" said the tribune; "Are you not, then, the Egyptian who in days gone by stirred up to sedition, and let into the wilderness the four thousand cutthroats?"
39 Ṣùgbọ́n Paulu sì wí pé, “Júù ní èmi jẹ́, ará Tarsu ìlú Kilikia, tí kì í ṣe ìlú yẹpẹrẹ kan, èmi síbẹ̀ ọ, fún mi ní ààyè láti bá àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí sọ̀rọ̀!”
"I am a Jew," answered Paul, "a native of Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city. And I pray you, give me permission to speak to the people."
40 Nígbà tí ó sì tí fún un ní ààyè, Paulu dúró lórí àtẹ̀gùn, ó sì juwọ́ sí àwọn ènìyàn. Nígbà tí wọ́n sì dákẹ́ rọ́rọ́, ó bá wọn sọ̀rọ̀ ní èdè Heberu, wí pé,
So when he had given leave, Paul stood on the stairs, beckoning with his hands to the people. There came a great hush, and he spoke to them as follows, in Hebrew.
