Acts 13
1 Àwọn wòlíì àti àwọn olùkọ́ni sì ń bẹ nínú ìjọ ti ó wà ni Antioku; Barnaba àti Simeoni tí a ń pè ni Nigeri, àti Lukiu ará Kirene, àti Manaeni (ẹni tí a tọ́ pọ̀ pẹ̀lú Herodu tetrarki) àti Saulu.
Now there were in Antioch, distributed through the existing assembly, —prophets and teachers: both Barnabas and Symeon who was called Niger, and Lucius the Cyrenian, Manaen also, Herod the tetrarch’s foster-brother, and Saul.
2 Bí wọn sì ti ń jọ́sìn fún Olúwa, tí wọ́n sì ń gbààwẹ̀, Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ wí pé, “Ẹ ya Barnaba àti Saulu sọ́tọ̀ fún mi fún iṣẹ́ ti mo ti pè wọ́n sí!”
And, as they were publicly ministering unto the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said—Separate forthwith unto me, Barnabas and Saul, unto the work whereunto I have called them.
3 Nígbà tí wọ́n sì ti gbààwẹ̀, tí wọn sì ti gbàdúrà, wọ́n gbé ọwọ́ lé wọn, wọ́n sì rán wọn lọ.
Then, fasting and praying, and laying their hands upon them, they sent them away.
4 Ǹjẹ́ bí Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ ti rán àwọn méjèèjì lọ, wọ́n sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ sí Seleusia; láti ibẹ̀ wọ́n sì wọ ọkọ̀ ojú omi lọ sí Saipurọsi.
They, therefore, being sent forth by the Holy Spirit, went down unto Seleucia, and, from thence, sailed away unto Cyprus;
5 Nígbà ti wọ́n sì wà ni Salami, wọ́n ń wàásù ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run ní Sinagọgu àwọn Júù. Johanu náà sì wà pẹ̀lú wọn láti ràn wọ́n lọ́wọ́ fún ìránṣẹ́ wọn.
And, coming to be in Salamis, they declared the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews; —and they had, John also, as an attendant.
6 Nígbà tí wọ́n sì la gbogbo erékùṣù já dé Pafosi, wọ́n rí ọkùnrin oṣó àti wòlíì èké kan ti i ṣe Júù, orúkọ ẹni ti ó ń jẹ́ Bar-Jesu.
And, passing through the whole island, as far as Paphos, they found a certain man, a magician, a false-prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus;
7 Ó wà lọ́dọ̀ Segiu Paulusi baálẹ̀ ìlú náà tí í ṣe amòye ènìyàn. Òun náà ni ó ránṣẹ́ pe Barnaba àti Saulu, nítorí tí ó fẹ́ gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run.
Who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. The same, calling for Barnabas and Saul, sought to hear the word of God.
8 Ṣùgbọ́n Elimu oṣó (nítorí bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ìtumọ̀ orúkọ rẹ̀) takò wọ́n, ó ń fẹ́ pa baálẹ̀ ni ọkàn dà kúrò ni ìgbàgbọ́.
But Elymas the magician, —for so, when translated, is his name, —withstood them; seeking to turn aside the proconsul from the faith.
9 Ṣùgbọ́n Saulu ti a ń pè ni Paulu, ó kún fún Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́, ó sì tẹjúmọ́ Elimu, ó sì wí pé,
But Saul, who is also Paul, filled with Holy Spirit, looking steadfastly at him,
10 “Ìwọ ti ó kún fún àrékérekè gbogbo, àti fún ìwà ìkà gbogbo, ìwọ ọmọ èṣù, ìwọ ọ̀tá ohun gbogbo, ìwọ kì yóò ha dẹ́kun láti máa yí ọ̀nà òtítọ́ Olúwa po?
Said—O full of all guile, and all recklessness! Son of an adversary! Enemy of all righteousness!—Wilt thou not cease to pervert the straight ways of the Lord?
11 Ǹjẹ́ nísinsin yìí wò ó, ọwọ́ Olúwa ń bẹ lára rẹ̀, ìwọ ó sì fọjú ìwọ kì yóò rí oòrùn ní sá à kan!” Lójúkan náà, ìkùùkuu àti òkùnkùn sí bò ó; ó sì ń wá ènìyàn kiri láti fa òun lọ́wọ́ lọ.
Now, therefore, lo! the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun, until a fitting time. And, instantly, there fell upon him a mist and darkness; and, going about, he was seeking such as might lead him by the hand.
12 Nígbà tí baálẹ̀ rí ohun tí ó ṣe, ó gbàgbọ́, ẹnu sì yà á sì ẹ̀kọ́ Olúwa.
Then, the proconsul, seeing what had happened, believed, being amazed at the teaching of the Lord.
13 Nígbà tí Paulu àti àwọn tí ó wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ si ṣíkọ̀ ni Pafosi wọ́n wá sí Perga ni Pamfilia: Johanu sì fi wọ́n sílẹ̀, ó sì padà lọ sí Jerusalẹmu.
And, setting sail from Paphos, Paul’s company came into Perga of Pamphylia; but, John, withdrawing from them, returned unto Jerusalem.
14 Nígbà ti wọ́n sì là Perga kọjá, wọ́n wá sí Pisidia ní Antioku. Wọ́n sì wọ inú Sinagọgu ní ọjọ́ ìsinmi, wọ́n sì jókòó.
They, however, passing through from Perga, arrived at Antioch of Pisidia; and, going into the synagogue on the sabbath-day, sat down.
15 Lẹ́yìn kíka ìwé òfin àti ìwé àwọn wòlíì, àwọn olórí Sinagọgu ránṣẹ́ sí wọn, pé, “Ará, bí ẹ̀yin bá ni ọ̀rọ̀ ìyànjú kan fún àwọn ènìyàn, ẹ sọ ọ́!”
And, after the reading of the law and the prophets, the synagogue-rulers sent unto them, saying—Brethren! if there is in you a word of exhortation unto the people, say on.
16 Paulu sì dìde dúró, ó sì juwọ́ sí wọn, ó ní, “Ẹ̀yin Israẹli, àti ẹ̀yin ti ó bẹ̀rù Ọlọ́run, ẹ fi etí sílẹ̀ sí mi!
And Paul, standing up, and making a sign with his hand, said—Ye men of Israel! and such as revere God! hearken: —
17 Ọlọ́run àwọn ènìyàn Israẹli yìí yan àwọn baba wa, ó sì gbé àwọn ènìyàn náà lékè, nígbà tí wọ́n ṣe àtìpó ní ilẹ̀ Ejibiti, pẹ̀lú agbára ńlá ni ó sì fi mú wọn jáde kúrò nínú rẹ̀,
The God of this people Israel, chose our fathers, and, the people, he exalted, by their sojourn in the land of Egypt, —and, with a high arm, brought he them out of it;
18 ní ìwọ̀n ìgbà ogójì ọdún ni ó fi mú sùúrù fún ìwà wọn ní ijù,
And, for the time of about forty years, bare with their manners in the desert;
19 nígbà tí ó sì ti run orílẹ̀-èdè méje ni ilẹ̀ Kenaani, ó sì fi ilẹ̀ wọn fún àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ ni ìní.
And, overthrowing seven nations in the land of Canaan, gave them their land as an inheritance—about four hundred and fifty years.
20 Gbogbo èyí sì ṣẹlẹ̀ fún ìwọ̀n àádọ́ta lé ní irinwó ọdún. “Lẹ́yìn nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni Ọlọ́run fi onídàájọ́ fún wọn, títí ó fi di ìgbà Samuẹli wòlíì.
And, after these things, he gave them judges, until Samuel the prophet.
21 Lẹ́yìn náà ni wọ́n sì béèrè ọba; Ọlọ́run sì fún wọn ní Saulu ọmọ Kiṣi, ọkùnrin kan nínú ẹ̀yà Benjamini, fún ogójì ọdún.
And, from that time, they asked for themselves a king, and God gave them Saul, son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, during forty years;
22 Nígbà ti ó sì mú Saulu kúrò, ó gbé Dafidi dìde ní ọba fún wọn, ẹni tí ó sì jẹ́rìí rẹ̀ pé, ‘Mo rí Dafidi ọmọ Jese ẹni bí ọkàn mi, ti yóò ṣe gbogbo ìfẹ́ mi.’
And, setting him aside, raised up, David, unto them for king, —of whom he also said, bearing witness—I have found David, the son of Jesse, —[a man] according to my heart, who will do all my will.
23 “Láti inú irú-ọmọ ọkùnrin yìí ni Ọlọ́run ti gbé Jesu Olùgbàlà dìde fún Israẹli gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìlérí.
From this man’s seed, hath God, according to promise, brought unto Israel, a saviour—Jesus:
24 Ṣáájú wíwá Jesu ni Johanu ti wàásù bamitiisi ìrònúpìwàdà fún gbogbo ènìyàn Israẹli.
John, beforehand proclaiming, before the face of his coming in, an immersion of repentance, unto all the people of Israel.
25 Bí Johanu sì ti ńlá ipa tirẹ̀ já, ó ni, ‘Ta ni ẹ̀yin ṣe bí èmi jẹ́? Èmi kì í ṣe òun. Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ kíyèsi í, ẹnìkan ń bọ̀ lẹ́yìn mi, bàtà ẹsẹ̀ ẹni tí èmi kò tó tú.’
And, as John was fulfilling his course, he was saying—Whom are ye supposing that I am? I, am not he! But lo! there cometh, after me, one of whom I am not worthy, the sandals of his feet, to loosen.
26 “Ará, ẹ̀yin ọmọ ìran Abrahamu, àti ẹ̀yin ti ó bẹ̀rù Ọlọ́run, àwa ni a rán ọ̀rọ̀ ìgbàlà yìí sí.
Brethren! sons of the race of Abraham, and those who among you revere God, —unto you, hath this word of salvation been sent forth.
27 Nítorí àwọn tí ń gbé Jerusalẹmu, àti àwọn olórí wọn, nítorí tiwọn kò mọ̀ Jesu, tí wọn kò sì ní òye ọ̀rọ̀ àwọn wòlíì, tí a ń kà ní ọjọọjọ́ ìsinmi fún wọn, kò yé wọn, wọ́n mú ọ̀rọ̀ àwọn wòlíì yìí ṣẹ nípa dídá a lẹ́bi.
For, they who were dwelling in Jerusalem, and their rulers, not recognising him, have, by judging him, fulfilled, the very voices of the prophets which every sabbath are being read;
28 Àti bí wọn kò tilẹ̀ ti rí ọ̀ràn ikú sí i, síbẹ̀ wọn rọ Pilatu láti pa á.
And, though no single cause of death they found, yet claimed they of Pilate that he should be slain.
29 Bí wọ́n ti mú nǹkan gbogbo ṣẹ ti a kọ̀wé nítorí rẹ̀, wọn sì sọ̀ ọ́ kalẹ̀ kúrò lórí igi, wọ́n sì tẹ́ ẹ sí ibojì.
And, when they had finished all those things which, concerning him, had been written, taking him down from the tree, they put him in a tomb.
30 Ṣùgbọ́n Ọlọ́run jí i dìde kúrò nínú òkú,
But, God, raised him from among the dead:
31 o sì farahàn lọ́jọ́ púpọ̀ fún àwọn tí ó bá a gòkè láti Galili wá sí Jerusalẹmu, àwọn tí í ṣe ẹlẹ́rìí rẹ̀ nísinsin yìí fún àwọn ènìyàn.
Who appeared, during many days, unto them who had come up with him from Galilee unto Jerusalem; who, indeed, [now] are his witnesses unto the people.
32 “Àwa sì mú ìyìnrere wá fún yín pé, ìlérí èyí tí Ọlọ́run ti ṣe fún àwọn baba wa,
We, therefore, unto you, bring the good news, as to the promise which, unto our fathers, was made, —
33 èyí ni Ọlọ́run ti mú ṣẹ fún àwa ọmọ wọn, nípa gbígbé Jesu dìde, bí a sì ti kọ̀wé rẹ̀ nínú Saamu kejì pé, “‘Ìwọ ni Ọmọ mi; lónìí ni mo bí ọ.’
That God hath fulfilled, the same, for our children, by raising up Jesus: as also, in the second psalm, it is written—My son, art, thou: I, this day, have begotten thee.
34 Àti ni tí pé Ọlọ́run jí i dìde kúrò nínú òkú, ẹni tí kì yóò tún padà sí ìbàjẹ́ mọ́, ó wí báyìí pé: “‘Èmi ó fún yín ní ọ̀rẹ́ mímọ́ Dafidi, tí ó dájú.’
And, in that he raised him from among the dead, no more destined to return unto corruption, on this wise hath he spoken—I will give unto you the faithful lovingkindnesses of David.
35 Nítorí ó sì wí nínú Saamu mìíràn pẹ̀lú pé, “‘Ìwọ kí yóò jẹ́ kí Ẹni Mímọ́ rẹ rí ìdíbàjẹ́.’
Wherefore also, in a different [place], he saith—Thou wilt not give thy man of lovingkindness to see corruption.
36 “Nítorí lẹ́yìn ìgbà ti Dafidi ti sin ìran rẹ tan nípa ìfẹ́ Ọlọ́run, ó sùn, a sì tẹ́ ẹ ti àwọn baba rẹ̀, ara rẹ̀ sì rí ìdíbàjẹ́.
For, David, indeed, unto his own generation having done service, by the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was added unto fathers, and saw corruption;
37 Ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí Ọlọ́run jí dìde kò rí ìdíbàjẹ́.
But, he whom God hath raised, did not see corruption.
38 “Ǹjẹ́ kí ó yé yín, ará pé nípasẹ̀ Jesu yìí ni a ń wàásù ìdáríjì ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ fún yín.
Be it known unto you, therefore, brethren, —that, through this man, unto you, remission of sins is declared;
39 Nípa rẹ̀ ni a ń dá olúkúlùkù ẹni tí ó gbàgbọ́ láre kúrò nínú ohun gbogbo, tí a kò lè dá yín láre rẹ̀ nínú òfin Mose.
And, from all things from which ye could not, by the law of Moses, be justified, by this man, everyone that believeth, is justified.
40 Nítorí náà, ẹ kíyèsára, kí èyí tí a ti sọ nínú ìwé àwọn wòlíì má ṣe dé bá yín pé:
Be taking heed, therefore, lest that come upon you which hath been spoken in the prophets—
41 “‘Ẹ wò ó, ẹ̀yin ẹlẹ́gàn, kí ẹnu sì yà yín, kí a sì fẹ́ yín kù; nítorí èmi ó ṣe ohun kan ní ọjọ́ yín, tí ẹ̀yin kò jẹ́ gbàgbọ́, bí a tilẹ̀ sọ fún yin.’”
See, ye despisers, and marvel, and disappear: in that, a work, am, I, working in your days, —a work, which in nowise will ye believe, though one relate it in full unto you.
42 Bí Paulu àti Barnaba sì ti ń jáde láti inú Sinagọgu, wọ́n bẹ̀bẹ̀ pé kí a sọ̀rọ̀ wọ̀nyí sí i fún wọn lọ́jọ́ ìsinmi tí ń bọ̀.
And, as they were going out, they kept on beseeching that, on the ensuing sabbath, might be spoken unto them these things.
43 Nígbà tí wọn sì jáde nínú Sinagọgu, ọ̀pọ̀ nínú àwọn Júù àti nínú àwọn olùfọkànsìn aláwọ̀ṣe Júù tẹ̀lé Paulu àti Barnaba, àwọn ẹni tí ó bá wọn sọ̀rọ̀ tí wọ́n sì rọ̀ wọ́n láti dúró nínú oore-ọ̀fẹ́ Ọlọ́run.
And, when the congregation was broken up, there followed many of the Jews, and of the devout proselytes, with Paul and Barnabas; who, indeed, in speaking unto them, went on persuading them to abide in the favour of God.
44 Ní ọjọ́ ìsinmi kejì, gbogbo ìlú sí fẹ́rẹ̀ péjọ tan láti gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa.
And, on the coming sabbath, almost all the city, was gathered together, to hear the word of God.
45 Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí àwọn Júù rí ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn náà, wọ́n kún fún owú, wọ́n ń sọ̀rọ̀-òdì sí ohun ti Paulu ń sọ.
But, the Jews, seeing, the multitudes, were filled with jealousy, —and began speaking against the things which, by Paul, were being spoken, defaming them.
46 Paulu àti Barnaba sì dá wọn lóhùn láìbẹ̀rù pé, “Ẹ̀yin ni ó tọ́ sí pé ki a kọ́kọ́ sọ ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run fún yín, ṣùgbọ́n bí ẹ̀yin ti ta á nù, tí ẹ sì ka ara yín sí aláìyẹ fún ìyè àìnípẹ̀kun, wò ó, àwa yípadà sọ́dọ̀ àwọn aláìkọlà. (aiōnios g166)
And Paul and Barnabas, speaking boldly, said—Unto you, was it necessary, that the word of God should first be spoken: seeing ye are thrusting it from you, and, unworthy, are judging yourselves of the age-abiding life, lo! we turn unto the nations; (aiōnios g166)
47 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Olúwa ṣa ti pàṣẹ fún wa pé: “‘Mo ti gbé ọ kalẹ̀ láti tan ìmọ́lẹ̀ fún àwọn aláìkọlà, kí ìwọ lè mú ìgbàlà wá títí dé òpin ayé.’”
For so hath the Lord commanded us—I have set thee for a light of nations, that thou mayest be for salvation unto the end of the earth.
48 Nígbà tí àwọn aláìkọlà sì gbọ́ èyí, wọ́n sì yín ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run lógo: gbogbo àwọn tí a yàn sí ìyè àìnípẹ̀kun sì gbàgbọ́. (aiōnios g166)
And they of the nations, hearing [this], began to rejoice, and to be glorifying God, and they believed—as many as had become disposed for life age-abiding. (aiōnios g166)
49 A sí tan ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa ká gbogbo agbègbè náà.
And the word of the Lord went on to be carried through the whole country.
50 Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn Júù rú àwọn obìnrin olùfọkànsìn àti ọlọ́lá sókè àti àwọn àgbà ìlú náà, wọ́n sì gbé inúnibíni dìde sí Paulu àti Barnaba, wọ́n sì le wọn kúrò ni agbègbè wọn.
But, the Jews, urged on the devout women of the higher class, and the chief men of the city, and roused up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, —and thrust them out from their bounds.
51 Ṣùgbọ́n wọ́n gbọn eruku ẹsẹ̀ wọn sí wọn, wọn sì wá sí Ikoniomu.
But they, shaking off the dust of their feet against them, came into Iconium.
52 Àwọn ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn si kún fún ayọ̀ àti fún Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́.
And, the disciples, were filled with joy, and with Holy Spirit.
