< 2 Timothy 2 >

1 Nítorí náà ìwọ ọmọ mi, jẹ́ alágbára nínú oore-ọ̀fẹ́ ti ń bẹ nínú Kristi Jesu.
Thou, therefore, my child, be empowering thyself in the favour that is in Christ Jesus,
2 Àwọn ohun ti ìwọ ti gbọ́ lọ́dọ̀ mi níwájú ẹlẹ́rìí púpọ̀, àwọn náà ni kí ìwọ fi lé àwọn olóòtítọ́ ènìyàn lọ́wọ́, àwọn ti yóò lè máa kọ́ àwọn ẹlòmíràn pẹ̀lú.
And, the things which thou hast heard from me among many witnesses, the same, entrust thou unto faithful men, such as shall be, competent, to teach, others also.
3 Ṣe alábápín pẹ̀lú mi nínú ìpọ́njú, bí ọmọ-ogun rere Jesu Kristi.
Take thy part in suffering hardship, as a brave soldier of Christ Jesus: —
4 Kò sí ẹni tí ń jagun ti ń fi ohun ayé yìí dí ara rẹ̀ lọ́wọ́, kí ó lè mú inú ẹni tí ó yàn ni ọmọ-ogun dùn.
No one that is serving as a soldier, entangleth himself with the matters of his livelihood, that he may please him that hath summoned him to serve as a soldier;
5 Ní ọ̀nà kan náà, bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá sì ń díje bí olùdíje, a kì í dé e ládé, bí kò ṣe bí ó bá parí rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìlànà
If, moreover, any man, contend even in the games, he is not crowned, unless, lawfully, he contend;
6 Àgbẹ̀ ti ó ń ṣe làálàá ni ó yẹ láti kọ́kọ́ mu nínú àwọn èso.
The toiling husbandman, ought, first, of the fruits, to partake:
7 Ronú lórí ohun ti èmi ń sọ; nítorí Olúwa yóò fún ọ lóye nínú ohun gbogbo.
Think, as to what I am speaking; for the Lord will give thee discernment in all things.
8 Rántí Jesu Kristi, ti ó jíǹde kúrò nínú òkú, láti inú irú-ọmọ Dafidi gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìyìnrere mi.
Keep in mind Jesus Christ—raised from among the dead, of the seed of David, —according to my joyful message:
9 Nínú èyí tí èmi ń rí ìpọ́njú títí dé inú ìdè bí arúfin; ṣùgbọ́n a kò de ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run.
In which I am suffering hardship, even unto bonds, as an evil-doer; but, the word of God, is not bound.
10 Nítorí náà mo ń faradà ohun gbogbo nítorí àwọn àyànfẹ́; kí àwọn náà pẹ̀lú lè ní ìgbàlà tí ń bẹ nínú Kristi Jesu pẹ̀lú ògo ayérayé. (aiōnios g166)
For this cause, am I enduring, all things, for the sake of the chosen, in order that, they also, may obtain, the salvation, which is in Christ Jesus along with glory age-abiding. (aiōnios g166)
11 Òtítọ́ ni ọ̀rọ̀ náà, bi àwa bá bá a kú, àwa yóò yè pẹ̀lú rẹ̀.
Faithful, the saying—for, If we have died together, we shall also live together,
12 Bí àwa bá faradà, àwa ó sì bá a jẹ ọba. Bí àwa bá sẹ́ ẹ, òun náà yóò sì sẹ́ wa.
If we endure, we shall also reign together; If we shall deny, he also, will deny us,
13 Bí àwa kò bá gbàgbọ́, òun dúró ni olóòtítọ́, nítorí òun kò lè sẹ́ ara rẹ̀.
If we are faithless, he, faithful, abideth, —for, deny himself, he cannot!
14 Nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni ki ó máa rán wọn létí. Máa kìlọ̀ fún wọn níwájú Olúwa pé, ki wọn ó yẹra kúrò nínú jíjiyàn ọ̀rọ̀ tí kò léèrè, bí kò ṣe ìparun fún àwọn tí ń gbọ́.
Of these things, be putting [them] in remembrance, adjuring [them] before God not to be waging word-battles, —useful, for nothing, occasioning a subversion of them that hearken.
15 Ṣaápọn láti fi ara rẹ̀ hàn níwájú Ọlọ́run bi ẹni tí ó yege àti òṣìṣẹ́ tí kò ní láti tijú, tí ó ń pín ọ̀rọ̀ òtítọ́ bí ó ti yẹ.
Give diligence, thyself, approved, to present unto God, —a workman not to be put to shame, skillfully handling the word of truth.
16 Yà kúrò nínú ọ̀rọ̀ asán, nítorí tiwọn máa síwájú nínú àìwà-bí-Ọlọ́run.
But, the profane pratings, shun; for, unto more ungodliness, will they force themselves on;
17 Ọ̀rọ̀ wọn yóò sì máa fẹ́ bí egbò kíkẹ̀; nínú àwọn ẹni tí Himeneu àti Filetu wà;
And, their discourse, as a gangrene, will eat its way; —of whom are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
18 àwọn ẹni tí ó ti ṣìnà kúrò nínú òtítọ́, tí ń wí pé àjíǹde ti kọjá ná; tí wọ́n sì ń bi ìgbàgbọ́ àwọn mìíràn ṣubú.
Men who, concerning the truth, have erred, affirming, a resurrection, already, to have taken place, and are overthrowing the faith, of some.
19 Ṣùgbọ́n ìpìlẹ̀ Ọlọ́run tí ó dájú dúró ṣinṣin, ó ní èdìdì yìí, pé, “Olúwa mọ àwọn tí í ṣe tirẹ̀.” Àti pẹ̀lú, “Kí olúkúlùkù ẹni tí ń pé orúkọ Olúwa kúrò nínú àìṣòdodo.”
Howbeit, the firm foundation of God, standeth, having this seal—The Lord hath acknowledged them who are his, and, Let every one that nameth the name of the Lord stand aloof from unrighteousness.
20 Ṣùgbọ́n nínú ilé ńlá, kì í ṣe kìkì ohun èlò wúrà àti ti fàdákà nìkan ni ń bẹ, ṣùgbọ́n ti igi àti amọ̀ pẹ̀lú; àti òmíràn sí ọlá, àti òmíràn sí àìlọ́lá.
But, in a great house, there are not only gold and silver vessels, but, also wooden and earthen: and, some, indeed, for honour, while, some, are for dishonour:
21 Bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá wẹ ara rẹ̀ mọ́ kúrò nínú ìwọ̀nyí, òun yóò jẹ́ ohun èlò sí ọlá, tí a yà sọ́tọ̀, tí ó sì yẹ fún ìlò baálé, tí a sì ti pèsè sílẹ̀ fún iṣẹ́ rere gbogbo.
If, therefore, anyone will, for pureness, sever himself from these, he shall be a vessel for honour, hallowed, meet for the Master’s use, for every good work, prepared.
22 Máa sá fún ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀ẹ́ èwe, sì máa lépa òdodo, ìgbàgbọ́, ìfẹ́, àlàáfíà, pẹ̀lú àwọn tí ń ké pe Olúwa láti inú ọkàn funfun wá.
But, from the youthful covetings, flee! and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, along with them who call upon the Lord out of a pure heart.
23 Ìbéèrè òmùgọ̀ àti aláìní ẹ̀kọ́ nínú ni kí o kọ̀, bí o ti mọ̀ pe wọn máa dá ìjà sílẹ̀.
But, from the foolish and undisciplined questionings, excuse thyself, knowing that they gender strifes;
24 Ìránṣẹ́, Olúwa kò sì gbọdọ̀ jà; bí kò ṣe kí ó jẹ́ ẹni pẹ̀lẹ́ sí ènìyàn gbogbo ẹni tí ó lè kọ́ni, àti onísùúrù.
And, a servant of the Lord, ought not to strive, but to be, gentle, towards all, apt in teaching, ready to endure malice, —
25 Ẹni tí yóò máa kọ́ àwọn alátakò pẹ̀lú ìwà tútù, ní ìrètí pé Ọlọ́run lè fún wọn ní ìrònúpìwàdà sí ìmọ̀ òtítọ́,
In meekness, bringing under discipline them that oppose themselves, lest at any time God should give them repentance unto a personal knowledge of truth,
26 wọn ó sì lè bọ́ kúrò nínú ìdẹ̀kùn èṣù, lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí ó ti mú wọn láti ṣe ìfẹ́ rẹ̀.
And they should wake up to sobriety out of, the adversary’s, snare, —though they have been taken alive by him for, that one’s, will.
