< 2 Timothy 1 >

1 Paulu, aposteli ti Jesu Kristi nípa ìfẹ́ Ọlọ́run, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìlérí ìyè ti ń bẹ nínú Kristi Jesu,
Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, in accord with the promise of the life which is in Christ Jesus,
2 Sí Timotiu, ọmọ mi olùfẹ́ ọ̀wọ́n: Oore-ọ̀fẹ́, àánú àti àlàáfíà láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run Baba wa, àti Kristi Jesu Olúwa wa.
to Timothy, most beloved son. Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and from Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 Mo dá ọpẹ́ lọ́wọ́ Ọlọ́run, ẹni tí èmi ń sìn pẹ̀lú ẹ̀rí ọkàn mímọ́ gẹ́gẹ́ bí àwọn baba mi ti í ṣe, pé ni àìsimi lọ́sàn án àti lóru ni mo ń ṣe ìrántí rẹ nínú àdúrà mi.
I give thanks to God, whom I serve, as my forefathers did, with a pure conscience. For without ceasing I hold the remembrance of you in my prayers, night and day,
4 Bí mo ti rántí omijé rẹ, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni mo ń fẹ́ láti rí ọ kí èmi kí ó lè kún fún ayọ̀.
desiring to see you, recalling your tears so as to be filled with joy,
5 Nígbà ti mo bá rántí ìgbàgbọ́ àìṣẹ̀tàn rẹ, èyí ti ó kọ́kọ́ ń bẹ nínú Loisi ìyá ńlá rẹ, àti nínú Eunike ìyá rẹ̀ àti, èyí tí ó dá mi lójú pé ó ń gbé inú rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú.
calling to mind the same faith, which is in you unfeigned, which also first dwelt in your grandmother, Lois, and in your mother, Eunice, and also, I am certain, in you.
6 Nítorí ìdí èyí ni mo ṣe ń ran ọ létí pé kí ó máa rú ẹ̀bùn Ọlọ́run sókè èyí ti ń bẹ nínú rẹ nípa ìgbọ́wọ́lé mi.
Because of this, I admonish you to revive the grace of God, which is in you by the imposition of my hands.
7 Nítorí pé Ọlọ́run kò fún wa ni ẹ̀mí ìbẹ̀rù, bí kò ṣe ti agbára, àti ti ìfẹ́, àti ti ìsẹ́ra-ẹni ti ó yè kooro.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of virtue, and of love, and of self-restraint.
8 Nítorí náà, má ṣe tijú láti jẹ́rìí nípa Olúwa wa, tàbí èmi òǹdè rẹ̀; ṣùgbọ́n kí ìwọ ṣe alábápín nínú ìpọ́njú ìyìnrere nípa agbára Ọlọ́run,
And so, do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me, his prisoner. Instead, collaborate with the Gospel in accord with the virtue of God,
9 ẹni ti ó gbà wá là, ti ó si pè wá sínú ìwà mímọ́—kì í ṣe nípa iṣẹ́ tí a ṣe ṣùgbọ́n nípasẹ̀ ète àti oore-ọ̀fẹ́ rẹ̀. Oore-ọ̀fẹ́ yìí ni a fi fún wa nínú Kristi Jesu láti ìpìlẹ̀ ayérayé, (aiōnios g166)
who has freed us and has called us to his holy vocation, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus, before the ages of time. (aiōnios g166)
10 ṣùgbọ́n tí a fihàn nísinsin yìí nípa ìfarahàn Jesu Kristi Olùgbàlà wa, ẹni ti ó pa ikú run, tí ó sì mú ìyè àti àìkú wá sí ìmọ́lẹ̀ nípasẹ̀ ìyìnrere.
And this has now been made manifest by the illumination of our Savior Jesus Christ, who certainly has destroyed death, and who has also illuminated life and incorruption through the Gospel.
11 Fún ti ìyìnrere tí a yàn mi láti jẹ oníwàásù àti aposteli àti olùkọ́.
Of this Gospel, I have been appointed a preacher, and an Apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
12 Nítorí ìdí èyí ní èmi ṣe ń jìyà wọ̀nyí pẹ̀lú. Ṣùgbọ́n ojú kò tì mí, nítorí èmi mọ ẹni tí èmi gbàgbọ́, ó sì dá mi lójú pé, òun lè pa ohun ti mo fi lé e lọ́wọ́ mọ́ títí di ọjọ́ náà.
For this reason, I also suffer these things. But I am not confounded. For I know in whom I have believed, and I am certain that he has the power to preserve what was entrusted to me, unto that day.
13 Ohun tí ó gbọ́ láti ọ̀dọ̀ mi, pa a mọ́ gẹ́gẹ́ bí àpẹẹrẹ ẹ̀kọ́ rere nínú ìgbàgbọ́ àti ìfẹ́ Kristi Jesu.
Hold to the kind of sound words that you have heard from me in the faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
14 Pa ohun rere ti a ti fi lé ọ lọ́wọ́ mọ́ nípa Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ ti ń gbé inú wa.
Guard the good entrusted to you through the Holy Spirit, who lives within us.
15 Èyí ni ìwọ mọ̀ pé, gbogbo àwọn ti ó wà ni agbègbè Asia ti fi mí sílẹ̀, nínú àwọn ẹni tí Figeliu àti Hamogene gbé wà.
Know this: that all those who are in Asia have turned away from me, among whom are Phigellus and Hermogenes.
16 Kí Olúwa fi àánú fún ilé Onesiforu; nítorí ti ó máa ń tù mi lára nígbà púpọ̀, ẹ̀wọ̀n mi kò sì tì í lójú.
May the Lord have mercy on the house of Onesiphorus, because he has often refreshed me, and he has not been ashamed of my chains.
17 Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí ó wà ni Romu, ó fi ẹ̀sọ̀ wá mi, ó sì rí mi.
Instead, when he had arrived in Rome, he anxiously sought me and found me.
18 Kí Olúwa fi fún un kí ó lè rí àánú lọ́dọ̀ Olúwa ni ọjọ́ náà! Ìwọ tìkára rẹ sá à mọ̀ ọ̀nà gbogbo tí ó gbà ràn mí lọ́wọ́ ni Efesu.
May the Lord grant to him to obtain mercy from the Lord in that day. And you know well in how many ways he has ministered to me at Ephesus.
