< 2 Samuel 4 >
1 Nígbà tí ọmọ Saulu sì gbọ́ pé, Abneri kú ní Hebroni, ọwọ́ rẹ̀ sì rọ, gbogbo Israẹli sì rẹ̀wẹ̀sì.
And when Saul’s son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.
2 Ọmọ Saulu sì ní ọkùnrin méjì tí í ṣe olórí ẹgbẹ́ ogun: a ń pe orúkọ ọ̀kan ní Baanah, àti orúkọ èkejì ní Rekabu, àwọn ọmọ Rimoni ará Beeroti ti àwọn ọmọ Benjamini (nítorí pé a sì ka Beeroti pẹ̀lú Benjamini).
And Saul’s son had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one was Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, the sons of Rimmon a Beerothite, of the children of Benjamin: (for Beeroth also was reckoned to Benjamin.
3 Àwọn ará Beeroti sì ti sálọ sí Gittaimu, wọ́n sì ṣe àtìpó níbẹ̀ títí ó fi di ọjọ́ òní yìí.
And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.)
4 (Jonatani ọmọ Saulu sì ti bí ọmọkùnrin kan tí ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀ rọ, òun sì jẹ́ ọdún márùn-ún, nígbà tí ìròyìn dé ní ti Saulu àti Jonatani láti Jesreeli wá, olùtọ́ rẹ̀ sì gbé e, o sì sálọ, ó sì ṣe, bí ó sì ti ń yára láti sálọ, òun sì ṣubú, ó sì ya arọ. Orúkọ rẹ̀ a máa jẹ́ Mefiboṣeti.)
And Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And his name was Mephibosheth.
5 Àwọn ọmọ Rimoni, ará Beeroti, Rekabu àti Baanah sì lọ wọ́n sì wá síh ilé Iṣboṣeti ní ọ̀sán gangan, òun sì sinmi lórí ibùsùn kan ní ọjọ́-kanrí.
And the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, went, and came about the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, who lay on a bed at noon.
6 Sì wò ó, bí olùṣọ́ ẹnu-ọ̀nà ilé náà ti ń gbọn àwọn pàǹtí, ó tòògbé ó sì sùn lọ, wọ́n sì wá sí àárín ilé náà, wọ́n sì ṣe bí ẹni pé wọ́n ń fẹ́ mú alikama; wọ́n sì gún un lábẹ́ inú. Rekabu àti Baanah arákùnrin rẹ̀ sì sálọ.
And they came thither into the middle of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped.
7 Nígbà tí wọ́n wọ ilé náà lọ, òun sì dùbúlẹ̀ lórí ibùsùn rẹ̀ nínú iyàrá rẹ̀, wọ́n sì pa á, wọ́n sì bẹ́ ẹ lórí, wọ́n gbé orí sálọ, wọ́n sì fi gbogbo òru rìn ni pẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ náà.
For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and beheaded him, and took his head, and got them away through the plain all night.
8 Wọ́n sì gbé orí Iṣboṣeti tọ Dafidi wá ní Hebroni, wọ́n sì wí fún ọba pé, “Wò ó, orí Iṣboṣeti ọmọ Saulu ọ̀tá rẹ, tí ó ti ń wá ẹ̀mí rẹ kiri, Olúwa ti gbẹ̀san fún ọba olúwa mi lónìí lára Saulu àti lára irú-ọmọ rẹ̀.”
And they brought the head of Ishbosheth to David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul your enemy, which sought your life; and the LORD has avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.
9 Dafidi sì dá Rekabu àti Baanah arákùnrin rẹ̀, àwọn ọmọ Rimoni ará Beeroti lóhùn, ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Bí Olúwa ti ń bẹ, ẹni tí ó gba ẹ̀mí mi lọ́wọ́ gbogbo ìpọ́njú.
And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
10 Nígbà tí ẹnìkan rò fún mi pé, ‘Wò ó, Saulu ti kú,’ lójú ara rẹ̀ òun sì jásí ẹni tí ó mú ìyìnrere wá, èmi sì mú un, mo sì pa á ní Siklagi, ẹni tí ó ṣe bí òun ó rí nǹkan gbà nítorí ìròyìn rere rẹ̀.
When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:
11 Mélòó mélòó ni, nígbà tí àwọn ìkà ènìyàn pa olódodo ènìyàn kan ni ilé rẹ̀ lórí ibùsùn rẹ̀—ǹjẹ́ èmi ha sì lè ṣe aláìbéèrè ẹ̀jẹ̀ rẹ̀ lọ́wọ́ yín bí? Kí èmi sì mú yín kúrò láààyè.”
How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house on his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?
12 Dafidi sì fi àṣẹ fún àwọn ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin rẹ̀, wọ́n sì pa wọ́n, wọ́n sì gé ọwọ́ àti ẹsẹ̀ wọn, a sì fi wọ́n há lórí igi ní Hebroni. Ṣùgbọ́n wọ́n mú orí Iṣboṣeti, wọ́n sì sin ín ní ibojì Abneri ní Hebroni.
And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth, and buried it in the sepulcher of Abner in Hebron.
