< 2 Samuel 3 >
1 Ogun náà sì pẹ́ títí láàrín ìdílé Saulu àti ìdílé Dafidi: agbára Dafidi sì ń pọ̀ sí i, ṣùgbọ́n ìdílé Saulu ń rẹ̀yìn sí i.
Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: and David waxed stronger and stronger, but the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.
2 Dafidi sì bí ọmọkùnrin ní Hebroni: Amnoni ni àkọ́bí rẹ̀ tí Ahinoamu ará Jesreeli bí fún un.
And unto David were sons born in Hebron: and his firstborn was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;
3 Èkejì rẹ̀ sì ni Kileabu, tí Abigaili aya Nabali ará Karmeli bí fún un; ẹ̀kẹta sì ni Absalomu ọmọ tí Maaka ọmọbìnrin Talmai ọba Geṣuri bí fún un.
and his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;
4 Ẹ̀kẹrin sì ni Adonijah ọmọ Haggiti; àti ẹ̀karùnún ni Ṣefatia ọmọ Abitali;
and the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;
5 Ẹ̀kẹfà sì ni Itreamu, tí Egla aya Dafidi bí fún un. Wọ̀nyí ni a bí fún Dafidi ni Hebroni.
and the sixth, Ithream, of Eglah David’s wife. These were born to David in Hebron.
6 Ó sì ṣe, nígbà tí ogun wà láàrín ìdílé Saulu àti ìdílé Dafidi, Abneri sì dì alágbára ní ìdílé Saulu.
And it come to pass, while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner made himself strong in the house of Saul.
7 Saulu ti ní àlè kan, orúkọ rẹ̀ sì ń jẹ́ Rispa, ọmọbìnrin Aiah: Iṣboṣeti sì bi Abneri léèrè pé, “Èéṣe tí ìwọ fi wọlé tọ àlè baba mi lọ.”
Now Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah: and [Ish-bosheth] said to Abner, Wherefore hast thou gone in unto my father’s concubine?
8 Abneri sì bínú gidigidi nítorí ọ̀rọ̀ wọ̀nyí ti Iṣboṣeti sọ fún un, ó sì wí pé, “Èmi jẹ́ bí orí ajá ti Juda bí? Di òní yìí ni mo ṣàánú fún ìdílé Saulu baba rẹ, àti fún àwọn arákùnrin rẹ̀, àti fún àwọn ọ̀rẹ́ rẹ̀, tí èmi kò sì fi ọ́ lé Dafidi lọ́wọ́, ìwọ sì kà ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ sí mí lọ́rùn nítorí obìnrin yìí lónìí?
Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ish-bosheth, and said, Am I a dog’s head that belongeth to Judah? This day do I shew kindness unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, and yet thou chargest me this day with a fault concerning this woman.
9 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kí Ọlọ́run ó ṣe Abneri, àti jù bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ pẹ̀lú, bí Olúwa ti búra fún Dafidi, bí èmi kò ní ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ fún un.
God do so to Abner, and more also, if, as the LORD hath sworn to David, I do not even so to him;
10 Láti mú ìjọba náà kúrò ní ìdílé Saulu, àti láti gbé ìtẹ́ Dafidi kalẹ̀ lórí Israẹli, àti lórí Juda, láti Dani títí ó fi dé Beerṣeba.”
to translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beer-sheba.
11 Òun kò sì lè dá Abneri lóhùn kan nítorí tí ó bẹ̀rù rẹ̀.
And he could not answer Abner another word, because he feared him.
12 Abneri sì rán àwọn oníṣẹ́ sí Dafidi nítorí rẹ̀ wí pé, “Ti ta ni ilẹ̀ náà ń ṣe? Bá mi ṣe àdéhùn, èmi yóò si kó gbogbo Israẹli tọ̀ ọ́ wá.”
And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying [also], Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring about all Israel unto thee.
13 Òun sì wí pé, “Ó dára, èmi ó bá ọ ṣe àdéhùn, ṣùgbọ́n ohun kan ni èmi ó béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ, èyí ni pé, ìwọ kì yóò rí ojú mi, àfi bí ìwọ bá kọ́ mú Mikali ọmọbìnrin Saulu wá, nígbà tí ìwọ bá wá, láti rí ojú mi.”
And he said, Well; I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul’s daughter, when thou comest to see my face.
14 Dafidi sì rán àwọn ìránṣẹ́ sí Iṣboṣeti ọmọ Saulu pé, “Fi Mikali obìnrin mi lé mi lọ́wọ́, ẹni tí èmi ti fi ọgọ́rùn-ún awọ iwájú orí àwọn Filistini fẹ́.”
And David sent messengers to Ish-bosheth Saul’s son, saying, Deliver me my wife Michal, whom I betrothed to me for an hundred foreskins of the Philistines.
15 Iṣboṣeti sì ránṣẹ́, ó sì gbà á lọ́wọ́ ọkùnrin tí a ń pè ní Paltieli ọmọ Laiṣi.
And Ish-bosheth sent, and took her from her husband, even from Paltiel the son of Laish.
16 Ọkọ rẹ̀ sì ń bà a lọ, ó ń rìn, ó sì ń sọkún lẹ́yìn rẹ̀ títí ó fi dé Bahurimu Abneri sì wí fún un pé, “Padà sẹ́yìn!” Òun sì padà.
And her husband went with her, weeping as he went, and followed her to Bahurim. Then said Abner unto him, Go, return: and he returned.
17 Abneri sì bá àwọn àgbàgbà Israẹli sọ̀rọ̀ pé, “Ẹ̀yin ti ń ṣe àfẹ́rí Dafidi ní ìgbà àtijọ́, láti jẹ ọba lórí yín.
And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, In times past ye sought for David to be king over you:
18 Ǹjẹ́ ẹ ṣe, nítorí tí Olúwa ti sọ fún Dafidi pé, ‘Láti ọwọ́ Dafidi ìránṣẹ́ mi lé mi ó gba Israẹli ènìyàn mi là kúrò lọ́wọ́ àwọn Filistini àti lọ́wọ́ gbogbo àwọn ọ̀tá a wọn.’”
now then do it: for the LORD hath spoken of David, saying, By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.
19 Abneri sì sọ̀rọ̀ létí Benjamini: Abneri sì lọ sọ létí Dafidi ní Hebroni, gbogbo èyí tí ó dára lójú Israẹli, àti lójú gbogbo ilé Benjamini.
And Abner also spake in the ears of Benjamin: and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and to the whole house of Benjamin.
20 Abneri sì tọ Dafidi wá ní Hebroni, ogún ọmọkùnrin sì lọ pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ Dafidi sì ṣe àsè fún Abneri àti fún àwọn ọmọkùnrin tí ó wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀.
So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men that were with him a feast.
21 Abneri sì wí fún Dafidi pé, “Èmi ó dìde, èmi ó sì lọ, èmi ó sì kó gbogbo Israẹli jọ sọ́dọ̀ ọba olúwa mi, wọn ó sì bá a ṣe àdéhùn, ìwọ ó sì jẹ ọba gbogbo wọn bí ọkàn rẹ ti ń fẹ́.” Dafidi sì rán Abneri lọ; òun sì lọ ní àlàáfíà.
And Abner said unto David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a covenant with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thy soul desireth. And David sent Abner away; and he went in peace.
22 Sì wò ó, àwọn ìránṣẹ́ Dafidi àti Joabu sì ti ibi ìlépa ẹgbẹ́ ogun kan bọ̀, wọ́n sì mú ìkógun púpọ̀ bọ̀; ṣùgbọ́n Abneri kò sí lọ́dọ̀ Dafidi ní Hebroni; nítorí tí òun ti rán an lọ, òun sì ti lọ ní àlàáfíà.
And, behold, the servants of David and Joab came from a foray, and brought in a great spoil with them: but Abner was not with David in Hebron; for he had sent him away, and he was gone in peace.
23 Nígbà tí Joabu àti gbogbo ogun tí ó pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ sì dé, wọ́n sì sọ fún Joabu pé Abneri, ọmọ Neri ti tọ ọba wá, òun sì ti rán an lọ, ó sì ti lọ ní àlàáfíà.
When Joab and all the host that was with him were come, they told Joab, saying, Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and he is gone in peace.
24 Joabu sì tọ ọba wá, ó sì sọ pé, “Kí ni ìwọ ṣe yìí? Wò ó, Abneri tọ̀ ọ́ wá; èéha ti ṣe tí ìwọ sì fi rán an lọ? Òun sì ti lọ.
Then Joab came to the king, and said, What hast thou done? behold, Abner came unto thee; why is it that thou hast sent him away, and he is quite gone?
25 Ìwọ mọ Abneri ọmọ Neri, pé ó wá láti tàn ọ́ jẹ ni, àti láti mọ ìjáde lọ rẹ, àti wíwọlé rẹ́ àti láti mọ gbogbo èyí tí ìwọ ń ṣe.”
Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest.
26 Nígbà tí Joabu sì jáde kúrò lọ́dọ̀ Dafidi, ó sì rán àwọn ìránṣẹ́ láti lépa Abneri, wọ́n sì pè é padà láti ibi kànga Sira, Dafidi kò sì mọ̀.
And when Joab was come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, and they brought him back from the well of Sirah: but David knew it not.
27 Abneri sì padà sí Hebroni, Joabu sì bá a tẹ̀ láàrín ojú ọ̀nà láti bá a sọ̀rọ̀ ní àlàáfíà, ó sì gún un níbẹ̀ lábẹ́ inú, ó sì kú, nítorí ẹ̀jẹ̀ Asaheli arákùnrin rẹ̀.
And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside into the midst of the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there in the belly, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.
28 Lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí Dafidi sì gbọ́ ọ, ó sì wí pé, “Èmi àti ìjọba mi sì jẹ́ aláìlẹ́bi níwájú Olúwa títí láé, ní ti ẹ̀jẹ̀ Abneri ọmọ Neri,
And afterward when David heard it, he said, I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD for ever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner:
29 jẹ́ kí ó wà ní orí Joabu, àti ní orí gbogbo ìdílé baba rẹ̀; kí a má sì fẹ́ ẹni ó tí ní ààrùn ìsun, tàbí adẹ́tẹ̀, tàbí ẹni tí ń tẹ ọ̀pá, tàbí ẹni tí a ó fi idà pa, tàbí ẹni tí ó ṣe aláìní oúnjẹ kù ní ilé Joabu.”
let it fall upon the head of Joab, and upon all his father’s house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth by the sword, or that lacketh bread.
30 (Joabu àti Abiṣai arákùnrin rẹ̀ sì pa Abneri, nítorí pé òun ti pa Asaheli arákùnrin wọn ní Gibeoni ní ogun.)
So Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had killed their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.
31 Dafidi sì wí fún Joabu àti fún gbogbo ènìyàn tí ń bẹ lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ pé, “Ẹ fa aṣọ yín ya, kí ẹ̀yin sì mú aṣọ ọ̀fọ̀, kí ẹ̀yin sì sọkún níwájú Abneri.” Dafidi ọba tìkára rẹ̀ sì tẹ̀lé pósí rẹ̀.
And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And king David followed the bier.
32 Wọ́n sì sin Abneri ní Hebroni, ọba sì gbé ohùn rẹ̀ sókè, ó sì sọkún ní ibojì Abneri; gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn náà sì sọkún.
And they buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.
33 Ọba sì sọkún lórí Abneri, ó sì wí pé, “Ǹjẹ́ Abneri ó yẹ kí ó kú bí aṣiwèrè?
And the king lamented for Abner, and said, Should Abner die as a fool dieth?
34 A kò sá à dè ọ́ lọ́wọ́, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni a kò kan ẹsẹ̀ rẹ ní àbà. Gẹ́gẹ́ bí ènìyàn tí ń ṣubú níwájú àwọn ìkà ènìyàn, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ìwọ ṣubú.” Gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn náà sì tún sọkún lórí rẹ̀.
Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet put into fetters: as a man falleth before the children of iniquity, so didst thou fall. And all the people wept again over him.
35 Nígbà tí gbogbo ènìyàn sì wá láti gba Dafidi ní ìyànjú kí ó jẹun, nígbà tí ọjọ́ sì ń bẹ, Dafidi sì búra wí pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kí Ọlọ́run ó ṣe sí mi àti jù bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ, bí èmi yóò bá tọ́ oúnjẹ wò, tàbí nǹkan mìíràn títí oòrùn yóò fi wọ̀!”
And all the people came to cause David to eat bread while it was yet day; but David sware, saying, God do so to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or aught else, till the sun be down.
36 Gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn sì kíyèsi i, ó sì dára lójú wọn, gbogbo èyí tí ọba ṣe sì dára lójú gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn náà.
And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them: as whatsoever the king did pleased all the people.
37 Gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn náà àti gbogbo Israẹli sì mọ̀ lọ́jọ́ náà pé, kì í ṣe ìfẹ́ ọba láti pa Abneri ọmọ Neri.
So all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.
38 Ọba sì wí fún àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ pé, “Ẹ̀yin kò mọ̀ pé olórí àti ẹni ńlá kan ni ó ṣubú lónìí ní Israẹli.
And the king said unto his servants, Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?
39 Èmi sì ṣe aláìlágbára lónìí, bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé a fi èmi jẹ ọba; àwọn ọkùnrin wọ̀nyí ọmọ Seruiah sì le jù mí lọ: Olúwa ni yóò san án fún ẹni tí ó ṣe ibi gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìwà búburú rẹ̀!”
And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD reward the wicked doer according to his wickedness.
