< 2 Samuel 24 >

1 Ìbínú Olúwa sì ru sí Israẹli, ó sì ti Dafidi sí wọn, pé, “Lọ ka iye Israẹli àti Juda!”
And again the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them, saying, Go, number Israel and Judah.
2 Ọba sì wí fún Joabu olórí ogun, tí ń bẹ lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ pé, “Lọ ní ìsinsin yìí sí gbogbo ẹ̀yà Israẹli láti Dani títí dé Beerṣeba, kí ẹ sì ka iye àwọn ènìyàn, kí èmi lè mọ iye àwọn ènìyàn náà!”
And the king said to Joab the captain of the army, who was with him, Go now to and fro through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, and number ye the people, that I may know the sum of the people.
3 Joabu sì wí fún ọba pé, “Kí Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ fi kún iye àwọn ènìyàn náà, iyekíye tí ó wù kí wọn jẹ́, ní ọ̀rọ̀ọ̀rún, ojú olúwa mi ọba yóò sì rí i, ṣùgbọ́n èétiṣe tí olúwa mi ọba fi fẹ́ nǹkan yìí?”
And Joab said to the king, Now Jehovah thy God add to the people, however many they may be, a hundredfold, and may the eyes of my lord the king see it, but why does my lord the king delight in this thing?
4 Ṣùgbọ́n ọ̀rọ̀ ọba borí ti Joabu, àti ti àwọn olórí ogun. Joabu àti àwọn olórí ogun sì jáde lọ kúrò níwájú ọba, láti lọ ka àwọn ènìyàn Israẹli.
Notwithstanding, the king's word prevailed against Joab, and against the captains of the army. And Joab and the captains of the army went out from the presence of the king to number the people of Israel.
5 Wọ́n sì kọjá odò Jordani, wọ́n sì pàgọ́ ní Aroeri, ní ìhà apá ọ̀tún ìlú tí ó wà láàrín àfonífojì Gadi, àti sí ìhà Jaseri.
And they passed over the Jordan, and encamped in Aroer on the right side of the city that is in the middle of the valley of Gad, and to Jazer.
6 Wọ́n sì wá sí Gileadi, àti sí ilé Tatimi Hodṣi; wọ́n sì wá sí Dani Jaani àti yíkákiri sí Sidoni.
Then they came to Gilead, and to the land of Tahtim-hodshi. And they came to Dan-jaan, and round about to Sidon,
7 Wọ́n sì wá sí ìlú olódi Tire, àti sí gbogbo ìlú àwọn Hifi, àti ti àwọn ará Kenaani, wọ́n sì jáde lọ síhà gúúsù ti Juda, àní sí Beerṣeba.
and came to the stronghold of Tyre, and to all the cities of the Hivites, and of the Canaanites. And they went out to the south of Judah, at Beersheba.
8 Wọ́n sì la gbogbo ilẹ̀ náà já, wọ́n sì wá sí Jerusalẹmu ní òpin oṣù kẹsànán àti ogúnjọ́.
So when they had gone to and fro through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.
9 Joabu sì fi iye tí àwọn ènìyàn náà jásí lé ọba lọ́wọ́. Ó sì jẹ́ ogójì ọ̀kẹ́ ọkùnrin alágbára ní Israẹli, àwọn onídà, àwọn ọkùnrin Juda sì jẹ́ ọ̀kẹ́ mẹ́ẹ̀ẹ́dọ́gbọ̀n ènìyàn.
And Joab gave the sum of the numbering of the people to the king. And there were in Israel eight hundred thousand valiant men who drew the sword, and the men of Judah were five hundred thousand men.
10 Àyà Dafidi sì gbọgbẹ́ lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí ó ka àwọn ènìyàn náà tán. Dafidi sì wí fún Olúwa pé, “Èmi ṣẹ̀ gidigidi ní èyí tí èmi ṣe, ṣùgbọ́n, èmi bẹ̀ ọ, Olúwa, fi ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ìránṣẹ́ rẹ jì ní, nítorí pé èmi hùwà aṣiwèrè gidigidi!”
And David's heart smote him after he had numbered the people. And David said to Jehovah, I have sinned greatly in that which I have done, but now, O Jehovah, put away, I beseech thee, the iniquity of thy servant, for I have done very foolishly.
11 Dafidi sì dìde ní òwúrọ̀, ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa sì tọ Gadi wòlíì wá, aríran Dafidi wí pé,
And when David rose up in the morning, the word of Jehovah came to the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,
12 “Lọ kí o sì wí fún Dafidi pé, ‘Báyìí ni Olúwa wí, èmi fi nǹkan mẹ́ta lọ̀ ọ́; yan ọ̀kan nínú wọn, kí èmi ó sì ṣe é sí ọ.’”
Go and speak to David, Thus says Jehovah, I offer thee three things. Choose thee one of them, that I may do it to thee.
13 Gadi sì tọ Dafidi wá, ó sì bi í léèrè pé, “Kí ìyàn ọdún méje ó tọ̀ ọ́ wá ní ilẹ̀ rẹ bí? Tàbí kí ìwọ máa sá ní oṣù mẹ́ta níwájú àwọn ọ̀tá rẹ, nígbà tí wọn ó máa lé ọ? Tàbí kí ààrùn ìparun ọjọ́ mẹ́ta ó wá sí ilẹ̀ rẹ? Rò ó nísinsin yìí, kí o sì mọ èsì tí èmi ó mú padà tọ ẹni tí ó rán mi.”
So Gad came to David, and told him, and said to him, Shall seven years of famine come to thee in thy land? Or will thou flee three months before thy foes while they pursue thee? Or shall there be three days' pestilence in thy land? Now decide, and see what answer I shall return to him who sent me.
14 Dafidi sì wí fún Gadi pé, “Ìyọnu ńlá bá mi. Jẹ́ kí a fi ara wa lé Olúwa ní ọwọ́; nítorí pé àánú rẹ̀ pọ̀; kí ó má sì ṣe fi mí lé ènìyàn ní ọwọ́.”
And David said to Gad, I am in a great strait. Let us fall now into the hand of Jehovah, for his mercies are great, and let me not fall into the hand of man.
15 Olúwa sì rán ààrùn ìparun sí Israẹli láti òwúrọ̀ títí dé àkókò tí a dá, ẹgbẹ̀rún ní ọ̀nà àádọ́rin ènìyàn sì kú nínú àwọn ènìyàn náà láti Dani títí fi dé Beerṣeba.
So Jehovah sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed. And there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men.
16 Nígbà tí angẹli náà sì nawọ́ rẹ̀ sí Jerusalẹmu láti pa á run, Olúwa sì káàánú nítorí ibi náà, ó sì sọ fún angẹli tí ń pa àwọn ènìyàn náà run pé, “Ó tó, dá ọwọ́ rẹ dúró wàyí!” Angẹli Olúwa náà sì wà níbi ìpakà Arauna ará Jebusi.
And when the agent stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, Jehovah relented of the evil, and said to the agent who destroyed the people, It is enough. Now stay thy hand. And the agent of Jehovah was by the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
17 Dafidi sì wí fún Olúwa nígbà tí ó rí angẹli tí ń kọlu àwọn ènìyàn pé, “Wò ó, èmi ti ṣẹ̀, èmi sì ti hùwà búburú ṣùgbọ́n àwọn àgùntàn wọ̀nyí, kín ni wọ́n ha ṣe? Jẹ́ kí ọwọ́ rẹ, èmi bẹ̀ ọ́, kí ó wà lára mi àti ìdílé baba mi.”
And David spoke to Jehovah when he saw the agent who smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done perversely, but these sheep, what have they done? Let thy hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father's house.
18 Gadi sì tọ Dafidi wá ní ọjọ́ náà, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Gòkè, tẹ́ pẹpẹ kan fún Olúwa lórí ilẹ̀ ìpakà Arauna ará Jebusi.”
And Gad came that day to David, and said to him, Go up, rear an altar to Jehovah in the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
19 Gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọ̀rọ̀ Gadi, Dafidi sì gòkè lọ bí Olúwa ti pa á ní àṣẹ.
And David went up according to the saying of Gad, as Jehovah commanded.
20 Arauna sì wò, ó sì rí ọba àti àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ ń bọ̀ wá lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, Arauna sì jáde, ó sì wólẹ̀ níwájú ọba ó sì dojú rẹ̀ bolẹ̀.
And Araunah looked forth, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him. And Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
21 Arauna sì wí pé, “Nítorí kín ni olúwa mi ọba ṣe tọ ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ wá?” Dafidi sì dáhùn pé, “Láti ra ibi ìpakà rẹ lọ́wọ́ rẹ, láti tẹ́ pẹpẹ kan fún Olúwa, kí ààrùn ìparun lè dá lára àwọn ènìyàn náà.”
And Araunah said, Why has my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshing-floor from thee, to build an altar to Jehovah that the plague may be halted from the people.
22 Arauna sì wí fún Dafidi pé, “Jẹ́ kí olúwa mi ọba ó mú èyí tí ó dára lójú rẹ̀, kí o sì fi í rú ẹbọ, wò ó, màlúù nìyìí láti fi ṣe ẹbọ sísun, àti ohun èlò ìpakà, àti ohun èlò mìíràn ti màlúù fún igi.
And Araunah said to David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seems good to him. Behold, the oxen for the burnt offering, and the threshing instruments and the yokes of the oxen for the wood.
23 Gbogbo nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni Arauna fi fún ọba, bí ọba.” Arauna sì wí fún ọba pé, “Kí Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ ó gba ọrẹ rẹ.”
All this, O king, Araunah gives to the king. And Araunah said to the king, Jehovah thy God accept thee.
24 Ọba sì wí fún Arauna pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́; ṣùgbọ́n èmi ó rà á ní iye kan lọ́wọ́ rẹ, bí ó ti wù kí ó ṣe; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni èmi kì yóò fi èyí tí èmi kò náwó fún, rú ẹbọ sísun sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run mi.” Dafidi sì ra ibi ìpakà náà, àti àwọn màlúù náà ní àádọ́ta ṣékélì fàdákà.
And the king said to Araunah, No, but I will truly buy it from thee at a price. Neither will I offer burnt offerings to Jehovah my God which cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing-floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
25 Dafidi sì tẹ́ pẹpẹ kan níbẹ̀ sí Olúwa, ó sì rú ẹbọ sísun àti ti ìlàjà. Olúwa sì gbọ́ ẹ̀bẹ̀ fún ilẹ̀ náà, ààrùn náà sì dá kúrò ní Israẹli.
And David built there an altar to Jehovah, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So Jehovah was entreated for the land, and the plague was halted from Israel.
