2 Samuel 17
1 Ahitofeli sì wí fún Absalomu pé, “Èmi ó yan ẹgbàá mẹ́fà ọkùnrin èmi ó sì dìde, èmi ó sì lépa Dafidi lóru yìí.
And Achitophel said to Abessalom, Let me now choose out for myself twelve thousand men, and I will arise and follow after David this night:
2 Èmi ó sì yọ sí i nígbà tí àárẹ̀ bá mú un tí ọwọ́ rẹ̀ sì ṣe aláìle, èmi ó sì dá a ní ìjì, gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn tí ó wà lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ yóò sì sá, èmi ó sì kọlu ọba nìkan ṣoṣo.
and I will come upon him when he [is] weary and weak-handed, and I will strike him with terror; and all the people with him shall flee, and I will strike the king only of all.
3 Èmi ó sì mú gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn padà sọ́dọ̀ rẹ bi ìgbà tí ìyàwó bá padà sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọkọ rẹ̀. Ọkàn ẹnìkan ṣoṣo tí ìwọ ń wá yìí ni ó túmọ̀ sí ìpadàbọ̀ gbogbo wọn; gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn yóò sì wà ní àlàáfíà.”
And I will bring back all the people to you, as a bride returns to her husband: only you seek the life of one man, and all the people shall have peace.
4 Ọ̀rọ̀ náà sì tọ́ lójú Absalomu, àti lójú gbogbo àwọn àgbàgbà Israẹli.
And the saying [was] right in the eyes of Abessalom, and in the eyes of all the elders of Israel.
5 Absalomu sì wí pé, “Ǹjẹ́ pe Huṣai ará Arki, àwa ó sì gbọ́ èyí tí ó wà lẹ́nu rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú.”
And Abessalom said, Call now also Chusi the Arachite, and let us hear what [is] in his mouth, even in his also.
6 Huṣai sì dé ọ̀dọ̀ Absalomu, Absalomu sì wí fún un pé, “Báyìí ni Ahitofeli wí, kí àwa ṣe bí ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ bí? Bí ko bá sì tọ́ bẹ́ẹ̀, ìwọ wí.”
And Chusi went in to Abessalom, and Abessalom spoke to him, saying, After this manner spoke Achitophel: shall we do according to his word? but if not, do you speak.
7 Huṣai sì wí fún Absalomu pé, “Ìmọ̀ tí Ahitofeli gbà yìí, kò dára nísinsin yìí.”
And Chusi said to Abessalom, This counsel which Achitophel has counselled this one time [is] not good.
8 Huṣai sì wí pé, “Ìwọ mọ baba rẹ àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ pé alágbára ni wọ́n, wọ́n sì wà ní kíkorò ọkàn bí àmọ̀tẹ́kùn tí a gbà ní ọmọ ni pápá, baba rẹ sì jẹ́ jagunjagun ọkùnrin kì yóò bá àwọn ènìyàn náà gbé pọ̀ lóru.
And Chusi said, You know your father and his men, that they are very mighty, and bitter in their spirit, as a bereaved bear in the field, [and as a wild boar in the plain]: and your father [is] a man of war, and will not give the people rest.
9 Kíyèsi i, ó ti fi ara rẹ̀ pamọ́ nísinsin yìí ni ihò kan, tàbí ní ibòmíràn: yóò sì ṣe, nígbà tí díẹ̀ nínú wọn bá kọ́ ṣubú, ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá gbọ́ yóò sì wí pé, ‘Ìparun sì ń bẹ́ nínú àwọn ènìyàn tí ń tọ Absalomu lẹ́yìn.’
For, behold, he is now hidden in one of the hills or in some [other] place: and it shall come to pass when he falls upon them at the beginning, that [some one] will certainly hear, and say, There has been a slaughter amongst the people that follow after Abessalom.
10 Ẹni tí ó sì ṣe alágbára, tí ọkàn rẹ̀ sì dàbí ọkàn kìnnìún, yóò sì rẹ̀ ẹ́: nítorí gbogbo Israẹli ti mọ̀ pé alágbára ni baba rẹ, àti pé, àwọn tí ń bẹ lọ́dọ̀ rẹ jẹ́ alágbára.
Then even he [that is] strong, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, —it shall utterly melt: for all Israel knows that your father [is] mighty, and they that are with him [are] mighty men.
11 “Nítorí náà èmi dámọ̀ràn pé, kí gbogbo Israẹli wọ́jọ pọ̀ sọ́dọ̀ rẹ, láti Dani títí dé Beerṣeba, gẹ́gẹ́ bí iyanrìn létí òkun fún ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀; àti pé, kí ìwọ tìkára rẹ̀ ó lọ sí ogun náà.
For thus I have surely given counsel, that all Israel be generally gathered to you from Dan even to Bersabee, as the sand that is upon the sea-shore for multitude: and that your presence go in the midst of them.
12 Àwa ó sì yọ sí i níbikíbi tí àwa o gbé rí i, àwa ó sì yí i ká bí ìrì ti ń ṣẹ̀ sí ilẹ̀ àní, ọkàn kan kì yóò kù pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ nínú gbogbo àwọn ọmọkùnrin tí ó wà lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀.
And we will come upon him in one of the places where we shall find him, and we will encamp against him, as the dew falls upon the earth; and we will not leave of him and of his men so much as one.
13 Bí o bá sì bọ́ sí ìlú kan, gbogbo Israẹli yóò mú okùn wá sí ìlú náà, àwa ó sì fà á lọ sí odò, títí a kì yóò fi rí òkúta kéékèèké kan níbẹ̀.”
And if he shall have taken refuge with his army in a city, then shall all Israel take ropes to that city, and we will draw it even into the river, that there may not be left there even a stone.
14 Absalomu àti gbogbo ọkùnrin Israẹli sì wí pé, “Ìmọ̀ Huṣai ará Arki sàn ju ìmọ̀ Ahitofeli lọ! Nítorí Olúwa fẹ́ láti yí ìmọ̀ rere ti Ahitofeli po.” Nítorí kí Olúwa lè mú ibi wá sórí Absalomu.
And Abessalom, and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Chusi the Arachite [is] better than the counsel of Achitophel. For the Lord ordained to disconcert the good counsel of Achitophel, that the Lord might bring all evil upon Abessalom.
15 Huṣai sì wí fún Sadoku àti fún Abiatari àwọn àlùfáà pé, “Báyìí ni Ahitofeli ti bá Absalomu àti àwọn àgbàgbà Israẹli dámọ̀ràn, báyìí lèmi sì bá a dámọ̀ràn.
And Chusi the Arachite said to Sadoc and Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus Achitophel counselled Abessalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counselled.
16 Nítorí náà yára ránṣẹ́ nísinsin yìí kí o sì sọ fún Dafidi pé, ‘Má ṣe dúró ní pẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ ijù náà lálẹ́ yìí, ṣùgbọ́n yára rékọjá kí a má bá a gbé ọba mì, àti gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn tí ó ń bẹ lọ́dọ̀ rẹ.’”
And now send quickly and report to David, saying, Lodge not this night in Araboth of the wilderness: even go and make haste, lest [one] swallow up the king, and all the people with him.
17 Jonatani àti Ahimasi sì dúró ní En-Rogeli ọ̀dọ́mọdébìnrin kan sì lọ, ó sì sọ fún wọn, wọ́n sì lọ wọ́n sọ fún Dafidi ọba nítorí pé kí a má bá à rí wọn pé wọ́n wọ ìlú.
And Jonathan and Achimaas stood by the well of Rogel, and a maidservant went and reported to them, and they go and tell king David; for they might not be seen to enter into the city.
18 Ṣùgbọ́n ọ̀dọ́mọdékùnrin kan rí wọn, ó sì wí fún Absalomu, ṣùgbọ́n àwọn méjèèjì sì yára lọ kúrò, wọ́n sì wá sí ilé ọkùnrin kan ní Bahurimu, ẹni tí ó ní kànga kan ní ọgbà rẹ̀, wọ́n sì sọ̀kalẹ̀ sí ibẹ̀.
But a young man saw them and told Abessalom: and the two went quickly, and entered into the house of a man in Baurim; and he had a well in his court, and they went down into it.
19 Obìnrin rẹ̀ sì mú nǹkan ó fi bo kànga náà, ó sì sá àgbàdo sórí rẹ̀, a kò sì mọ̀.
And a woman took a covering, and spread it over the mouth of the well, and spread out ground corn upon it to dry, and the thing was not known.
20 Àwọn ìránṣẹ́ Absalomu sì tọ obìnrin náà wá sí ilé náà, wọ́n sì béèrè pé, “Níbo ni Ahimasi àti Jonatani gbé wà?” Obìnrin náà sì wí fún wọn pé, “Wọ́n ti gòkè rékọjá ìṣàn odò náà.” Wọ́n sì wá wọn kiri, wọn kò sì rí wọn, wọ́n sì yípadà sí Jerusalẹmu.
And the servants of Abessalom came to the woman into the house, and said, Where [are] Achimaas and Jonathan? and the woman said to them, They are gone a little way beyond the water. And they sought and found them not, and returned to Jerusalem.
21 Ó sì ṣe lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí wọ́n ti lọ tán, àwọn ọkùnrin náà sì jáde kúrò nínú kànga, wọ́n sì lọ wọ́n sì rò fún Dafidi ọba. Wọ́n sọ fún Dafidi pé, “Dìde kí o sì gòkè odò kánkán, nítorí pé báyìí ni Ahitofeli gbìmọ̀ sí ọ.”
And it came to pass after they were gone, that they came up out of the pit, and went on their way; and reported to king David, and said to David, Arise you and go quickly over the water, for thus has Achitophel counselled concerning you.
22 Dafidi sì dìde, àti gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn tí ń bẹ lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, wọ́n sì gòkè odò Jordani: kí ilẹ̀ tó mọ́, ènìyàn kò kù tí kò gòkè odò Jordani.
And David rose up and all the people with him, and they passed over Jordan till the morning light; there was not one missing who did not pass over Jordan.
23 Nígbà tí Ahitofeli sì rí i pé wọn kò fi ìmọ̀ tirẹ̀ ṣe, ó sì di kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ rẹ̀ ni gàárì, ó sì dìde, ó lọ ilé rẹ̀, ó sì palẹ̀ ilé rẹ̀ mọ̀, ó sì so, ó sì kú, a sì sin ín sí ibojì baba rẹ̀. Absalomu gbógun ti Dafidi.
And Achitophel saw that his counsel was not followed, and he saddled his ass, and rose and departed to his house into his city; and he gave orders to his household, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.
24 Dafidi sì wá sí Mahanaimu, Absalomu sì gòkè odò Jordani, òun àti gbogbo àwọn ọkùnrin Israẹli pẹ̀lú rẹ̀.
And David passed over to Manaim: and Abessalom crossed over Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.
25 Absalomu sì fi Amasa ṣe olórí ogun ní ipò Joabu: Amasa ẹni tí í ṣe ọmọ ẹnìkan, orúkọ ẹni tí a ń pè ní Itira, ará Israẹli, tí ó wọlé tọ Abigaili ọmọbìnrin Nahaṣi, arábìnrin Seruiah, ìyá Joabu.
And Abessalom appointed Amessai in the room of Joab over the host. And Amessai was the son of a man whose name was Jether of Jezrael: he went in to Abigaia the daughter of Naas, the sister of Saruia the mother of Joab.
26 Israẹli àti Absalomu sì dó ní ilẹ̀ Gileadi.
And all Israel and Abessalom encamped in the land of Galaad.
27 Nígbà tí Dafidi sì wá sí Mahanaimu, Ṣobi ọmọ Nahaṣi ti Rabba tí àwọn ọmọ Ammoni, àti Makiri ọmọ Ammieli ti Lo-Debari, àti Barsillai ará Gileadi ti Rogelimu.
And it came to pass when David came to Manaim, that Uesbi the son of Naas of Rabbath of the sons of Ammon, and Machir son of Amiel of Lodabar, and Berzelli the Galaadite of Rogellim,
28 Mú àwọn àkéte, àti àwọn àwo, àti ìkòkò amọ̀, àti alikama, àti ọkà barle, àti ìyẹ̀fun, àti àgbàdo díndín, àti ẹ̀wà, àti erèé, àti lẹntili.
brought ten embroidered beds, (with double coverings, ) and ten cauldrons, and earthenware, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and meal, and beans, and pulse,
29 Àti oyin, àti òrí-àmọ́, àti àgùntàn, àti wàràǹkàṣì màlúù, wá fún Dafidi àti fún àwọn ènìyàn tí ń bẹ lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, láti jẹ: nítorí tí wọ́n wí pé, “Ebi ń pa àwọn ènìyàn, ó sì rẹ̀ wọ́n, òǹgbẹ sì ń gbẹ wọ́n ní aginjù.”
and honey, and butter, and sheep, and cheeses of kine: and they brought them to David and to his people with him to eat; for [one] said, The people [is] faint and hungry and thirsty in the wilderness.
