< 2 Samuel 12 >
1 Olúwa sì rán Natani sí Dafidi òun sì tọ̀ ọ́ wá, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Ọkùnrin méjì ń bẹ ní ìlú kan; ọ̀kan jẹ́ ọlọ́rọ̀, èkejì sì jẹ́ tálákà.
So Jehovah sent Nathan to David. And he came to him, and said to him, "Tell me how you judge this case. There were two men in a certain city, the one rich and the other poor.
2 Ọkùnrin ọlọ́rọ̀ náà sì ní àgùntàn àti màlúù lọ́pọ̀lọ́pọ̀.
The rich man had very many flocks and herds,
3 Ṣùgbọ́n ọkùnrin tálákà náà kò sì ní nǹkan bí kò ṣe àgùntàn kékeré kan èyí tí ó sì ń tọ́, ó sì dàgbà ní ọwọ́ rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀; a máa jẹ nínú oúnjẹ rẹ̀, a sí máa mu nínú ago rẹ̀, a sì máa dùbúlẹ̀ ní àyà rẹ̀, ó sì dàbí ọmọbìnrin kan fún un.
but the poor man had nothing, except one little ewe lamb, which he had acquired. And he raised it and it grew up alongside him and his children. It used to eat of his morsel and drink from his cup and sleep in his arms, and it was like a daughter to him.
4 “Àlejò kan sì tọ ọkùnrin ọlọ́rọ̀ náà wá, òun kò sì fẹ́ mú nínú àgùntàn rẹ̀, àti nínú màlúù rẹ̀, láti fi ṣe àlejò fún ẹni tí ó tọ̀ ọ́ wá, o sì mú àgùntàn ọkùnrin tálákà náà fi ṣe àlejò fún ọkùnrin tí ó tọ̀ ọ́ wá.”
Now a traveler came to the rich man, but he was unwilling to take from his own flock or his own herd to prepare for the traveler who had come to him, but took the poor man's lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him."
5 Ìbínú Dafidi sì ru gidigidi sí ọkùnrin náà; ó sì wí fún Natani pé, “Bí Olúwa ti ń bẹ láààyè, ọkùnrin náà tí ó ṣe nǹkan yìí, kíkú ni yóò kú.
Then David became very angry with that man, and he said to Nathan, "As Jehovah lives, the man who has done this deserves death.
6 Òun yóò sì san àgùntàn náà padà ní mẹ́rin mẹ́rin, nítorí tí ó ṣe nǹkan yìí àti nítorí tí kò ní àánú.”
He must restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity."
7 Natani sì wí fún Dafidi pé, “Ìwọ ni ọkùnrin náà. Báyìí ni Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli wí, ‘Èmi fi ọ́ jẹ ọba lórí Israẹli, èmi sì gbà ọ́ lọ́wọ́ Saulu.
Then Nathan said to David, "You are the man. This is what Jehovah, the God of Israel, says: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul.
8 Èmi sì fi ilé olúwa rẹ fún ọ, àti àwọn obìnrin olúwa rẹ sí àyà rẹ, èmi sì fi ìdílé Israẹli àti ti Juda fún ọ; tí àwọn wọ̀nyí bá sì kéré jù fún ọ èmi ìbá sì fún ọ sí i jù bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ.
I gave you your master's house, and your master's wives into your care, and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that would have been too little, I would have added to you many more such things.
9 Èéṣe tí ìwọ fi kẹ́gàn ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa, tí ìwọ fi ṣe nǹkan tí ó burú lójú rẹ̀, àní tí ìwọ fi fi idà pa Uriah ará Hiti, àti tí ìwọ fi mú obìnrin rẹ̀ láti fi ṣe obìnrin rẹ, o sì fi idà àwọn ọmọ Ammoni pa á.
Why have you despised Jehovah, to do that which is evil in his sight? You have struck Uriah the Hethite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have slain him with the sword of the people of Ammon.
10 Ǹjẹ́ nítorí náà idà kì yóò kúrò ní ilé rẹ títí láé; nítorí pé ìwọ gàn mí, ìwọ sì mú aya Uriah ará Hiti láti ṣe aya rẹ.’
Now therefore the sword will never depart from your house, because you have despised me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hethite to be your wife.'
11 “Báyìí ni Olúwa wí, kíyèsi i, ‘Èmi ó jẹ́ kí ibi kí ó dìde sí ọ láti inú ilé rẹ wá, èmi ó sì gba àwọn obìnrin rẹ lójú rẹ, èmi ó sì fi wọ́n fún aládùúgbò rẹ, òun ó sì bá àwọn obìnrin rẹ sùn níwájú òòrùn yìí.
"This is what Jehovah says: 'Look, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes, and give them to your neighbor, and he will lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.
12 Àti pé ìwọ ṣe é ní ìkọ̀kọ̀, ṣùgbọ́n èmi ó ṣe nǹkan yìí níwájú gbogbo Israẹli, àti níwájú òòrùn.’”
For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.'"
13 Dafidi sì wí fún Natani pé, “Èmi ṣẹ̀ sí Olúwa!” Natani sì wí fún Dafidi pé, “Olúwa pẹ̀lú sì ti mú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ kúrò; ìwọ kì yóò kú.
David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against Jehovah." Nathan said to David, "Jehovah also has put away your sin. You will not die.
14 Ṣùgbọ́n nítorí nípa ìwà yìí, ìwọ fi ààyè sílẹ̀ fún àwọn ọ̀tá Olúwa láti sọ ọ̀rọ̀-òdì, ọmọ náà tí a ó bí fún ọ, kíkú ní yóò kú.”
However, because by this deed you have shown utter contempt for Jehovah, the child also who is born to you shall surely die."
15 Natani sì lọ sí ilé rẹ̀ Olúwa sì fi ààrùn kọlu ọmọ náà tí obìnrin Uriah bí fún Dafidi, ó sì ṣe àìsàn púpọ̀.
Then Nathan went to his home. And God struck the child that Uriah's wife bore to David, and it was very sick.
16 Dafidi sì bẹ Ọlọ́run nítorí ọmọ náà, Dafidi sì gbààwẹ̀, ó sì wọ inú ilé lọ, ó sì dùbúlẹ̀ lórí ilé ni òru náà.
Then David sought from God on behalf of the child. And David fasted, and went in and lay all night on the ground.
17 Àwọn àgbàgbà ilé rẹ̀ sì dìde tọ̀ ọ́ lọ, láti gbé e dìde lórí ilé, ó sì kọ̀, kò sì bá wọn jẹun.
And the elders of his house approached him to lift him up from the ground, but he was unwilling, and he would not eat food with them.
18 Ní ọjọ́ keje, ọmọ náà sì kú. Àwọn ìránṣẹ́ Dafidi sì bẹ̀rù láti wí fún un pé, ọmọ náà kú: nítorí tí wọ́n wí pé, “Kíyèsi i, nígbà tí ọmọ náà ń bẹ láààyè, àwa sọ̀rọ̀ fún un, òun kọ̀ si gbọ́ ohùn wa! Ǹjẹ́ yóò ti ṣe ara rẹ̀ ní èṣe tó, bí àwa bá wí fún un pé, ọmọ náà kú.”
It happened on the seventh day, that the child died. The servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead; for they said, "Look, while the child was yet alive, we spoke to him, and he did not listen to our voice. How will he then harm himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?"
19 Nígbà tí Dafidi sì rí pé àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ ń sọ̀rọ̀ kẹ́lẹ́kẹ́lẹ́, Dafidi sì kíyèsi i, pé ọmọ náà kú, Dafidi sì béèrè lọ́wọ́ àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ pé, “Ọmọ náà kú bí?” Wọ́n sì dá a lóhùn pé, “Ó kú.”
But when David noticed that his servants were whispering together, David perceived that the child was dead; and David said to his servants, "Is the child dead?" They said, "He is dead."
20 Dafidi sì dìde ní ilẹ̀, ó sì wẹ̀, ó fi òróró pa ara, ó sì pààrọ̀ aṣọ rẹ̀, ó sì wọ inú ilé Olúwa lọ, ó sì wólẹ̀ sin, ó sì wá sí ilé rẹ̀ ó sì béèrè, wọ́n sì gbé oúnjẹ kalẹ̀ níwájú rẹ̀, ó sì jẹun.
Then David arose from the ground, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his clothing; and he came into the house of Jehovah, and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and he asked for bread to eat. And they set bread before him, and he ate.
21 Àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ sì bí léèrè pé, “Kí ni èyí tí ìwọ ṣe yìí? Nítorí ọmọ náà nígbà tí ó ń bẹ láààyè ìwọ gbààwẹ̀, o sì sọkún; ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí ọmọ náà kú, ó dìde ó sì jẹun.”
Then his servants said to him, "What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept and kept vigil for the child while he was alive; but when the child was dead, you rose up and ate bread."
22 Ó sì wí pé, “Nígbà tí ọmọ náà ń bẹ láààyè, èmi gbààwẹ̀, èmi sì sọkún: nítorí tí èmi wí pé, ‘Ta ni ó mọ̀? Bí Olúwa ó ṣàánú mi, kí ọmọ náà le yè.’
He said, "While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, 'Who knows whether Jehovah will not be gracious to me, that the child may live?'
23 Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí, ó ti kú, nítorí kín ni èmi ó ṣe máa gbààwẹ̀? Èmi ha tún lè mú un padà bí? Èmi ni yóò tọ̀ ọ́ lọ, òun kì yóò sì tún tọ̀ mí wá.”
But now he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me."
24 Dafidi sì ṣìpẹ̀ fún Batṣeba aya rẹ̀, ó sì wọlé tọ̀ ọ́, ó sì bá a dàpọ̀, òun sì bí ọmọkùnrin kan, Dafidi sì sọ orúkọ rẹ̀ ní Solomoni, Olúwa sì fẹ́ ẹ.
David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in to her, and lay with her. She bore a son, and he called his name Solomon. Jehovah loved him;
25 Ó sì rán Natani wòlíì, ó sì pe orúkọ rẹ̀ ní Jedidiah, nítorí Olúwa.
and he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he named him Jedidiah, for Jehovah's sake.
26 Joabu sì bá Rabba ti àwọn ọmọ Ammoni jagun, ó sì gba ìlú ọba wọn.
Now Joab fought against Rabbah of the people of Ammon, and took the royal city.
27 Joabu sì rán àwọn ìránṣẹ́ sí Dafidi, ó sì wí pé, “Èmi ti bá Rabba jà, èmi sì ti gba àwọn ìlú olómi.
Joab sent messengers to David, and said, "I have fought against Rabbah, and have also taken the water supply of the city.
28 Ǹjẹ́ nítorí náà kó àwọn ènìyàn ìyókù jọ, kí o sì dó ti ìlú náà, kí o sì gbà á, kí èmi má bá à gba ìlú náà kí a má ba à pè é ní orúkọ mi.”
Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and besiege the city and capture it yourself, or I will capture the city, and it will be named after me."
29 Dafidi sì kó gbogbo ènìyàn náà jọ, sí Rabba, ó sì bá a jà, ó sì gbà á.
David gathered all the people together, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.
30 Òun sì gba adé ọba wọn kúrò lórí rẹ̀, ìwúwo rẹ̀ sì jẹ́ tálẹ́ǹtì wúrà kan, ó sì ní òkúta oníyebíye lára rẹ̀; a sì fi dé Dafidi lórí. Òun sì kó ìkógun ìlú náà ni ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀.
He took the crown of their king from off his head; and its weight was a talent of gold, and in it were precious stones; and it was set on David's head. He brought out the spoil of the city, a very great amount.
31 Ó sì kó àwọn ènìyàn náà tí ó wà nínú rẹ̀, ó sì fi wọ́n sí iṣẹ́ ayùn, àti sí iṣẹ́ nǹkan ìtulẹ̀ tí a fi irin ṣe, àti sí iṣẹ́ àáké irin, ó sì fi wọ́n sí iṣẹ́ bíríkì ṣíṣe, bẹ́ẹ̀ náà ni òun sì ṣe sí gbogbo ìlú àwọn ọmọ Ammoni. Dafidi àti gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn náà sì padà sí Jerusalẹmu.
He brought out the people who were in it, and put them to work with saws, and iron picks, and iron axes, and to labor at the brick kiln. And he did the same to all the cities of the people of Ammon. David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
