< 2 Samuel 10 >

1 Ó sì ṣe lẹ́yìn èyí, ọba àwọn ará Ammoni sì kú, Hanuni ọmọ rẹ̀ sì jẹ ọba ní ipò rẹ̀.
And it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his stead.
2 Dafidi sì wí pé, “Èmi yóò ṣe oore fún Hanuni ọmọ Nahaṣi gẹ́gẹ́ bí baba rẹ̀ sì ti ṣe oore fún mi.” Dafidi sì ránṣẹ́ láti tù Hanuni nínú láti ọwọ́ àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ wá, nítorí ti baba rẹ̀. Àwọn ìránṣẹ́ Dafidi sì wá sí ilé àwọn ọmọ Ammoni.
And David said, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father shewed kindness unto me. So David sent by the hand of his servants to comfort him concerning his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.
3 Àwọn olórí àwọn ọmọ Ammoni sì wí fún Hanuni olúwa wọn pé, “Ǹjẹ́ o rò pé Dafidi ń bu ọlá fún baba rẹ nígbà tí ó rán ènìyàn wá láti bá ọ kẹ́dùn? Kò ha ṣe pé Dafidi rán àwọn ìránṣẹ́ sí ọ láti wo ìlú àti láti yọ́ ọ wò àti láti gbà ọ́.”
But the princes of the children of Ammon said unto Hanun their lord, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? hath not David sent his servants unto thee to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?
4 Hanuni sì mú àwọn ìránṣẹ́ Dafidi ó fá apá kan irùngbọ̀n wọn, ó sì gé ààbọ̀ kúrò ní agbádá wọn, títí ó fi dé ìdí wọn, ó sì rán wọn lọ.
So Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.
5 Wọ́n sì sọ fún Dafidi, ó sì ránṣẹ́ lọ pàdé wọn, nítorí tí ojú ti àwọn ọkùnrin náà púpọ̀: ọba sì wí pé, “Ẹ dúró ní Jeriko títí irùngbọ̀n yín yóò fi hù, nígbà náà ni kí ẹ tó máa bọ̀.”
When they told it unto David, he sent to meet them; for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.
6 Àwọn ará Ammoni sì ri pé, wọ́n di ẹni ìríra níwájú Dafidi, àwọn ọmọ Ammoni sì ránṣẹ́, wọ́n sì fi owó bẹ́ ogún àwọn ará Siria ti Beti-Rehobu; àti Siria-Soba, ogún ẹgbẹ̀rún ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀ àti ti ọba Maaka, ẹgbẹ̀rún ọkùnrin àti ti Tobu ẹgbàá mẹ́fà ọkùnrin lọ́wẹ̀.
And when the children of Ammon saw that they were become odious to David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth-rehob, and the Syrians of Zobah, twenty thousand footmen, and the king of Maacah with a thousand men, and the men of Tob twelve thousand men.
7 Dafidi sì gbọ́, ó sì rán Joabu, àti gbogbo ogún àwọn ọkùnrin alágbára.
And when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.
8 Àwọn ọmọ Ammoni sì jáde wá, wọ́n sì tẹ́ ogun ní ẹnu odi; ará Siria-Soba, àti ti Rehobu, àti Tobu, àti Maaka, wọ́n sì tẹ ogun ni pápá fún ara wọn.
And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entering in of the gate: and the Syrians of Zobah, and of Rehob, and the men of Tob and Maacah, were by themselves in the field.
9 Nígbà tí Joabu sì rí i pé ogun náà dojúkọ òun níwájú àti lẹ́yìn, ó sì yàn nínú gbogbo àwọn akíkanjú ọkùnrin ní Israẹli, ó sì tẹ́ ogun kọjú sí àwọn ará Siria.
Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians:
10 Ó sì fi àwọn ènìyàn tí ó kù lé Abiṣai àbúrò rẹ̀ lọ́wọ́, kí ó lè tẹ ogun kọjú sí àwọn ọmọ Ammoni.
And the rest of the people he committed into the hand of Abishai his brother, and he put them in array against the children of Ammon.
11 Ó sì wí pé, “Bí agbára àwọn ará Siria bá pọ̀ ju èmi lọ, ìwọ yóò sì wá ràn mí lọ́wọ́, ṣùgbọ́n bí ọwọ́ àwọn ọmọ Ammoni bá sì pọ̀jù ọ́ lọ, èmi ó sì wá ràn ọ́ lọ́wọ́.
And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will come and help thee.
12 Mú ọkàn lè, jẹ́ kí a ṣe onígboyà nítorí àwọn ènìyàn wa, àti nítorí àwọn ìlú Ọlọ́run wa; Olúwa yóò sì ṣe èyí tí ó dára lójú rẹ̀.”
Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the LORD do that which seemeth him good.
13 Joabu àti àwọn ènìyàn tí ń bẹ lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ sì bá àwọn ará Siria pàdé ìjà, wọ́n sì sá níwájú rẹ̀.
So Joab and the people that were with him drew nigh unto the battle against the Syrians: and they fled before him.
14 Nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ Ammoni sì rí i pé àwọn ará Siria sá, àwọn pẹ̀lú sì sá níwájú Abiṣai, wọ́n sì wọ inú ìlú lọ. Joabu sì padà kúrò lẹ́yìn àwọn ọmọ Ammoni, ó sì wá sí Jerusalẹmu.
And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, they likewise fled before Abishai, and entered into the city. Then Joab returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.
15 Nígbà tí àwọn ará Siria sì rí i pé àwọn ṣubú níwájú Israẹli, wọ́n sì kó ara wọn jọ
And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they gathered themselves together.
16 Hadadeseri sì ránṣẹ́, ó sì mú àwọn Siria tí ó wà ní òkè odò Eufurate jáde wá, wọ́n sì wá sí Helami; Sobaki olórí ogun Hadadeseri sì ṣe olórí wọn.
And Hadarezer sent, and brought out the Syrians that were beyond the River: and they came to Helam, with Shobach the captain of the host of Hadarezer at their head.
17 Nígbà tí a sọ fún Dafidi, ó sì kó gbogbo Israẹli jọ, wọ́n sì kọjá Jordani, wọ́n sì wá sí Helami, àwọn ará Siria sì tẹ́ ogun kọjú sí Dafidi, wọ́n sì bá a jà.
And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel together, and passed over Jordan, and came to Helam. And the Syrians set themselves in array against David, and fought with him.
18 Àwọn ará Siria sì sá níwájú Israẹli, Dafidi sì pa nínú àwọn ará Siria ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀rin àwọn oníkẹ̀kẹ́, àti ọ̀kẹ́ méjì ẹlẹ́ṣin, wọ́n sì kọlu Sobaki olórí ogun wọn, ó sì kú níbẹ̀.
And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians [the men of] seven hundred chariots, and forty thousand horsemen, and smote Shobach the captain of their host, that he died there.
19 Nígbà tí gbogbo àwọn ọba tí ó wà lábẹ́ Hadadeseri sì rí i pé wọ́n di bíbì ṣubú níwájú Israẹli, wọ́n sì bá Israẹli làjà, wọ́n sì ń sìn wọ́n. Àwọn ará Siria sì bẹ̀rù láti máa ran àwọn ọmọ Ammoni lọ́wọ́ mọ́.
And when all the kings that were servants to Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they made peace with Israel, and served them. So the Syrians feared to help the children of Ammon any more.
