< 2 Kings 1 >
1 Lẹ́yìn ikú Ahabu, Moabu ṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí Israẹli.
Then, after the death of Ahab, Moab transgressed against Israel.
2 Nísinsin yìí Ahasiah ti ṣubú láàrín fèrèsé láti òkè yàrá rẹ̀ tí ó wà ní Samaria, ó sì fi ara pa. Ó sì rán oníṣẹ́, ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ lọ ṣe ìwádìí lọ́wọ́ Baali-Sebubu, òrìṣà Ekroni, bóyá èmi ó lè rí ìwòsàn ìfarapa yìí.”
And Ahaziah fell down through the lattices of his upper room, which he had in Samaria, and he was injured. And he sent messengers, saying to them, “Go, consult Beelzebub, the god of Ekron, as to whether I may be able to survive this infirmity of mine.”
3 Ṣùgbọ́n angẹli Olúwa wí fún Elijah ará Tiṣibi pé, “Lọ sókè kí o lọ bá ìránṣẹ́ ọba Samaria kí o sì béèrè lọ́wọ́ wọn, ‘Ṣé nítorí pé kò sí Ọlọ́run ní Israẹli ni ẹ̀yìn fi jáde lọ ṣèwádìí lọ́wọ́ Baali-Sebubu òrìṣà Ekroni?’
And an Angel of the Lord spoke to Elijah, the Tishbite, saying: “Rise up, and ascend to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria. And you shall say to them: ‘Is there not a God in Israel, so that you would go to consult Beelzebub, the god of Ekron?
4 Nítorí náà ohun tí Olúwa sọ ní èyí, ‘Ìwọ kò ní kúrò lórí ibùsùn tí o dùbúlẹ̀ lé. Dájúdájú ìwọ yóò kú!’” Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Elijah lọ.
For this reason, thus says the Lord: From the bed to which you have ascended, you shall not descend. Instead, dying you shall die.’” And Elijah went away.
5 Nígbà tí ìránṣẹ́ náà padà sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọba, ó béèrè ní ọwọ́ wọn pé, “Kí ni ó dé tí ẹ̀yin fi tètè padà wá?”
And the messengers returned to Ahaziah. And he said to them, “Why have you returned?”
6 Wọ́n dáhùn pé, “Ọkùnrin kan wá láti pàdé wa, ó sì wí fún wa pé, ‘Ẹ padà sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọba tí ó rán an yín kí ẹ sì wí fún un pé, “Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa wí: Ṣé nítorí wí pé kò sí Ọlọ́run ní Israẹli ni o fi ń rán àwọn ènìyàn láti lọ ṣe ìwádìí lọ́wọ́ Baali-Sebubu, òrìṣà Ekroni? Nítorí náà ìwọ kò ní fi orí ibùsùn tí ìwọ dùbúlẹ̀ lé sílẹ̀. Láìsí àní àní ìwọ yóò kùú!”’”
But they responded to him: “A man met us, and he said to us: ‘Go, and return to the king who sent you. And you shall say to him: Thus says the Lord: Is it because there was no God in Israel that you are sending to consult Beelzebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore, from the bed to which you have ascended, you shall not descend. Instead, dying you shall die.’”
7 Ọba béèrè lọ́wọ́ wọn pé, “Irú ọkùnrin wo ni ó wá pàdé yín, tí ó sì sọ irú èyí fún un yín?”
And he said to them: “What was the appearance and dress of that man, who met you and who spoke these words?”
8 Wọ́n dáhùn pé, “Ó jẹ́ ọkùnrin tí ó wọ ẹ̀wù onírun lára pẹ̀lú ọ̀já àmùrè aláwọ tí ó gbà yíká ìbàdí rẹ̀.” Ọba sì wí pé, “Elijah ará Tiṣibi ni.”
So they said, “A hairy man, with a belt of leather wrapping his waist.” And he said, “It is Elijah, the Tishbite.”
9 Ó sì rán balógun pẹ̀lú àwọn ẹgbẹ́ ogun àádọ́ta rẹ̀. Balógun náà sì gòkè tọ Elijah lọ, ẹni tí ó jókòó ní orí òkè, wọ́n sì wí fún un pé, “Ènìyàn Ọlọ́run, ọba wí pé, ‘Sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá!’”
And he sent to him a leader of fifty, with the fifty who were under him. And he ascended to him, sitting at the top of a hill, and he said, “Man of God, the king commanded that you should descend.”
10 Elijah sì dá balógun lóhùn pé, “Tí ó bá jẹ́ wí pé ènìyàn Ọlọ́run ni mí, kí iná kí ó sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti òkè ọ̀run wá kí ó sì jó ìwọ àti àwọn àádọ́ta ọkùnrin rẹ!” Nígbà náà iná náà sì sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá láti òkè ọ̀run ó sì jó balógun àti àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀.
And responding, Elijah said to the leader of fifty, “If I am a man of God, let fire from heaven descend and devour you and your fifty.” And then fire from heaven descended and devoured him and the fifty who were with him.
11 Ọba sì tún rán balógun àádọ́ta pẹ̀lú àwọn ènìyàn àádọ́ta rẹ̀ sí Elijah. Balógun náà sì wí fún un pé, “Ènìyàn Ọlọ́run, èyí ni ohun tí ọba sọ, ‘Sọ̀kalẹ̀ kánkán!’”
And again, he sent to him another leader of fifty, and the fifty with him. And he said to him, “Man of God, thus says the king: Hurry, descend.”
12 “Tí èmi bá jẹ́ ènìyàn Ọlọ́run,” Elijah sì dáhùn, “Ǹjẹ́ kí iná kí ó sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti ọ̀run kí ó sì jó ọ run àti àwọn àádọ́ta ènìyàn rẹ!” Nígbà náà iná Ọlọ́run sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti ọ̀run ó sì jó o run pẹ̀lú àwọn àádọ́ta ènìyàn rẹ̀.
Responding, Elijah said, “If I am a man of God, let fire from heaven descend and devour you and your fifty.” And fire from heaven descended and devoured him and his fifty.
13 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ọba tún rán balógun kẹta pẹ̀lú àwọn àádọ́ta ọkùnrin. Balógun ẹ̀ẹ̀kẹ́ta lọ sí òkè, ó sì kúnlẹ̀ lórí orókún rẹ̀ níwájú Elijah. “Ènìyàn Ọlọ́run,” Ó sì bẹ̀bẹ̀ pé, “Ìwọ ènìyàn Ọlọ́run, jọ̀wọ́ jẹ́ kí ẹ̀mí mi àti ẹ̀mí àwọn àádọ́ta ìránṣẹ́ rẹ wọ̀nyí ṣọ̀wọ́n ní ojú rẹ!
Again, he sent a third leader of fifty men and the fifty who were with him. And when he had arrived, he bent his knees before Elijah, and he pleaded with him, and said: “Man of God, do not choose to despise my life and the lives of your servants who are with me.
14 Wò ó, iná ti sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti ọ̀run láti jó àwọn balógun méjì àràádọ́ta àkọ́kọ́ pẹ̀lú àràádọ́ta wọn. Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí ní ojúrere fún ẹ̀mí mi!”
Behold, fire from heaven descended and devoured the two previous leaders of fifty and the fifties who were with them. But now I beg you to take pity on my life.”
15 Angẹli Olúwa sọ fún Elijah pé, “Sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ pẹ̀lú rẹ̀; má ṣe bẹ̀rù rẹ̀.” Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Elijah dìde ó sì sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọba.
Then the Angel of the Lord spoke to Elijah, saying, “Descend with him; fear not.” And so, he arose and descended with him to the king.
16 Ó sọ fún ọba pé, “Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa wí, ‘Ṣé nítorí wí pé kò sí Ọlọ́run ní Israẹli fún ọ láti pè ni ìwọ fi rán ìránṣẹ́ lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ Baali-Sebubu, òrìṣà Ekroni láti lọ ṣe ìwádìí?’ Nítorí pé o ṣe èyí, ìwọ kò ní dìde lórí ibùsùn tí o dùbúlẹ̀ lé láìsí àní àní ìwọ yóò kú!”
And he said to him: “Thus says the Lord: Because you sent messengers to consult Beelzebub, the god of Ekron, as if there were no God in Israel, from whom you would be able to seek a word, therefore, from the bed to which you have ascended, you shall not descend. Instead, dying you shall die.”
17 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ó sì kú, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tí Elijah ti sọ. Nítorí Ahasiah kò ní ọmọ, Jehoramu jẹ ọba ní ọdún kejì tí Jehoramu ọmọ Jehoṣafati ọba Juda.
And so he died, in accord with the word of the Lord, which Elijah spoke. And Jehoram, his brother, reigned in his place, in the second year of Jehoram, the son of Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah. For he had no son.
18 Àti ní ti gbogbo àwọn ohun tí ó ṣẹlẹ̀ nígbà ìjọba Ahasiah, àti ohun tí ó ṣe, ṣe a kò ha kọ wọ́n sí inú ìwé ọdọọdún ti àwọn ọba Israẹli?
But the rest of the words of Ahaziah that he worked, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?
