< 2 Kings 3 >

1 Jehoramu ọmọ Ahabu sì di ọba Israẹli ní Samaria ní ọdún kejìdínlógún ti Jehoṣafati ọba Juda, ó sì jẹ ọba fún ọdún méjìlá.
Now, Jehoram son of Ahab, began to reign over Israel, in Samaria, in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, —and he reigned twelve years.
2 Ó sì ṣe búburú níwájú Olúwa, ṣùgbọ́n kì í ṣe bí ti ìyá àti baba rẹ̀ ti ṣe. Ó gbé òkúta ère ti Baali tí baba rẹ̀ ti ṣe kúrò.
And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, only, not like his father, nor like his mother, —but he put away the pillars of Baal which, his father, had made;
3 Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé ó fi ara mọ́ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ Jeroboamu ọmọ Nebati, tí ó ti fi Israẹli bú láti dẹ́ṣẹ̀; kò sì yí kúrò lọ́dọ̀ wọn.
nevertheless, unto the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat which he caused Israel to commit, he did cleave, —he turned not away therefrom
4 Nísinsin yìí Meṣa ọba Moabu ń sin àgùntàn, ó sì gbọdọ̀ fi fún ọba Israẹli pẹ̀lú ọ̀kẹ́ márùn-ún ọ̀dọ́-àgùntàn àti pẹ̀lú irun ọ̀kẹ́ márùn-ún àgbò.
Now, Mesha king of Moab, was a sheep-master, —and used to render to the king of Israel, the wool of hundred thousand fat sheep, and of a hundred thousand rams.
5 Ṣùgbọ́n lẹ́yìn ikú Ahabu, ọba Moabu ṣọ̀tẹ̀ lórí ọba Israẹli.
And it came to pass, when Ahab died, that the king of Moab revolted against the king of Israel.
6 Lásìkò ìgbà yìí ọba Jehoramu jáde kúrò ní Samaria ó sì yí gbogbo Israẹli ní ipò padà.
So King Jehoram went forth, on that day, out of Samaria, and numbered all Israel.
7 Ó sì ránṣẹ́ yìí sí Jehoṣafati ọba Juda pé, “Ọba Moabu sì ṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí mi. Ṣé ìwọ yóò lọ pẹ̀lú mi láti lọ bá Moabu jà?” Ọba Juda sì dáhùn pé, “Èmi yóò lọ pẹ̀lú rẹ. Èmi jẹ́ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìwọ ti wà, ènìyàn rẹ bí ènìyàn mi, ẹṣin mi bí ẹṣin rẹ.”
And he departed, and sent unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, saying—The king of Moab, hath revolted against me, wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle? And he said—I will go up, I am as thou art, my people are as thy people, my horses as thy horses.
8 “Nípa ọ̀nà wo ni àwa yóò gbà dojúkọ wọ́n?” Ó béèrè. “Lọ́nà aginjù Edomu,” ó dáhùn.
And he said—Which way, then, shall we go up? And he said—The way of the wilderness of Edom.
9 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ọba Israẹli jáde lọ pẹ̀lú ọba Juda àti ọba Edomu. Lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí wọ́n yíká fún ọjọ́ méje. Àwọn ọmọ-ogun wọn kò ní omi púpọ̀ fún ara wọn tàbí fún ẹranko tí ó wà pẹ̀lú wọn.
Then departed the king of Israel, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom, and went round, a journey of seven days, —and there was no water for the host, nor for the cattle that went with them.
10 “Kí ni?” ọba Israẹli kígbe sókè. “Ṣé Olúwa pe àwa ọba mẹ́tẹ̀ẹ̀ta papọ̀ láti fi wá lé Moabu lọ́wọ́?”
Then said the king of Israel—Alas! for Yahweh hath called these three kings, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.
11 Ṣùgbọ́n Jehoṣafati sì wí pé, “Ṣé kò sí wòlíì Olúwa níbí, tí àwa ìbá ti ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀ béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀?” Ọ̀kan lára àwọn ìránṣẹ́ ọba Israẹli dáhùn pé, “Eliṣa ọmọ Ṣafati wà níbí. Ó máa sábà bu omi sí ọwọ́ Elijah.”
So Jehoshaphat said—Is there not, here, a prophet of Yahweh, that we may enquire of Yahweh, from him? Then answered one of the servants of the king of Israel, and said, Here, is Elisha son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.
12 Jehoṣafati wí pé, “Ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀.” Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ọba Israẹli àti Jehoṣafati àti ọba Edomu sọ̀kalẹ̀ tọ̀ ọ́ lọ.
Then said Jehoshaphat, The word of Yahweh, is with him. So the king of Israel, and Jehoshaphat, and the king of Edom, went down unto him.
13 Eliṣa wí fún ọba Israẹli pé, “Kí ni àwa ní ṣe pẹ̀lú ara wa? Lọ sọ́dọ̀ wòlíì baba rẹ àti wòlíì ti ìyá rẹ.” Ọba Israẹli dá a lóhùn, “Rárá, nítorí Olúwa ni ó pe àwa ọba mẹ́tẹ̀ẹ̀ta papọ̀ láti fi wá lé Moabu lọ́wọ́.”
And Elisha said unto the king of Israel—What have I and thou in common? get thee unto the prophets of thy father, and unto the prophets of thy mother. But the king of Israel said to him—Nay! for Yahweh hath called together these three kings, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.
14 Eliṣa wí pé, “Gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ti wà pé Olúwa àwọn ọmọ-ogun wà láyé, ẹni tí mo ń sìn tí èmi kò bá ní ọ̀wọ̀ fún ojú Jehoṣafati ọba Juda, èmi kò ní wò ó tàbí èmi kì bá ti rí ọ.
Then said Elisha—By the life of Yahweh of hosts, before whom I stand, were it not that, the countenance of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would lift up, I would neither look at thee, nor see thee.
15 Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí, mú wá fún mi ohun èlò orin olókùn.” Nígbà tí akọrin náà n kọrin, ọwọ́ Olúwa wá sórí Eliṣa.
But, now, bring me one that can touch the strings. For it used to be, when the player touched the strings, then would, the hand of Yahweh, be upon him.
16 Ó sì wí pé, “Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa sọ, ‘Jẹ́ kí àfonífojì kún fún ọ̀gbun.’
Then said he, Thus, saith Yahweh, Make, in this torrent-bed, pits, pits!
17 Nítorí èyí ni Olúwa wí, o kò ní í rí afẹ́fẹ́ tàbí òjò, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àfonífojì yìí yóò kún pẹ̀lú omi, àti ìwọ àti ẹran ọ̀sìn àti pẹ̀lú àwọn ẹran yóò mu.
For, thus, saith Yahweh—Ye shall not see wind, and ye shall not see rain, yet, that torrent-bed, shall be filled with water, —And ye shall drink, ye, and your cattle, and your beasts;
18 Èyí jẹ́ ohun tí kò lágbára níwájú Olúwa, yóò sì fi Moabu lé e yín lọ́wọ́ pẹ̀lú.
And, this being a small thing in the eyes of Yahweh, he will deliver Moab into your hand;
19 Ìwọ yóò sì bi gbogbo ìlú olódi àti gbogbo àgbà ìlú ṣubú. Ìwọ yóò sì gé gbogbo igi dáradára ṣubú, dá gbogbo orísun omi dúró, kí o sì pa gbogbo pápá dáradára pẹ̀lú òkúta run.”
And ye shall smite every strong city, and every choice city, and, every goodly tree, shall ye fell, and, all fountains water, shall ye close up, —and, every goodly heritage, shall ye mar with stones.
20 Ní òwúrọ̀ ọjọ́ kejì, ní àsìkò ẹbọ, níbẹ̀ ni omí sàn láti ọ̀kánkán Edomu! Ilé náà sì kún pẹ̀lú omi.
And it came to pass, in the morning, when the offering ascended, that lo! waters, were coming in from the way of Edom, —and the land was filled with the water.
21 Nísinsin yìí gbogbo ará Moabu gbọ́ pé àwọn ọba tí dé láti bá wọn jà. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni gbogbo ènìyàn, ọmọdé àti àgbà tí ó lè ja ogun wọn pè wọ́n sókè wọ́n sì dúró ní etí ilẹ̀.
Now, all Moab, had heard that the kings had come up to fight against them, —so they came together, from all who could gird on a girdle and upwards, and took their stand at the border.
22 Nígbà tí wọ́n dìde ní òwúrọ̀ ọjọ́ kejì, oòrùn ti tàn sí orí omi náà sí àwọn ará Moabu ní ìkọjá ọ̀nà, omi náà sì pupa bí ẹ̀jẹ̀.
And, when they rose early in the morning, the sun, shone forth upon the waters, —and so the Moabites beheld over against them, the waters, red as blood.
23 “Ẹ̀jẹ̀ ni èyí!” wọ́n wí pé, “Àwọn ọba wọ̀nyí lè ti jà kí wọn sì pa ara wọn ní ìpakúpa. Nísinsin yìí sí àwọn ìkógun Moabu!”
They said therefore—Blood, —this! Destroyed! The kings have destroyed each other! Yea they have smitten every man his neighbour, —Now, then, to the spoil, O Moab!
24 Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí àwọn ará Moabu dé sí ibùdó ti Israẹli, àwọn ará Israẹli dìde, wọ́n sì kọlù wọ́n títí tí wọ́n fi sálọ. Àwọn ará Israẹli gbógun sí ilẹ̀ náà wọ́n sì pa Moabu run.
And, when they came into the camp of Israel, Israel arose and smote Moab, and they fled from before them, —so they entered thereinto, yea still farther entered Moab;
25 Wọ́n sì wọ gbogbo ìlú náà olúkúlùkù ènìyàn, wọ́n ju òkúta sí gbogbo ohun dáradára orí pápá títí tí ó fi run. Wọ́n sì dá gbogbo orísun omi dúró wọ́n sì gé gbogbo orísun dáradára. Kiri-Hareseti nìkan ni wọ́n fi òkúta rẹ̀ sílẹ̀ ní ààyè rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ènìyàn ológun pẹ̀lú kànnàkànnà yíká, wọ́n sì kọlù ìlú náà.
And, the cities, they pulled down, and, on every goodly heritage, they cast every man his stone, and filled it, and, all fountains of waters, they closed up, and, every goodly tree, they felled, and, though they left the stones thereof in Kir-haraseth, yet the slingers surrounded and smote it.
26 Nígbà tí ọba Moabu rí i wí pé ogun náà le ju ti òun lọ, ó mú idà pẹ̀lú ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbẹ̀rin ọkùnrin onídà láti jà pẹ̀lú ọba Edomu, ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò yege.
And, when the king of Moab saw that, the battle, prevailed against him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through against the king of Edom, but they could not.
27 Nígbà náà ó mú àkọ́bí ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀, tí kò bá jẹ́ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọba, ó sì fi rú ẹbọ sísun ní orí ògiri ìlú. Wọ́n sì bínú lórí Israẹli púpọ̀púpọ̀; wọ́n yọ́ kúrò wọ́n sì padà sí ìlú wọn.
So he took his firstborn son who was to have reigned in his stead, and offered him up as an ascending-sacrifice upon the wall. And so it came to pass that there was great indignation against Israel. And they brake up from against him, and returned to their own land.
