< 2 Kings 13 >
1 Ní ọdún kẹtàlélógún ti Joaṣi ọmọ ọba Ahasiah ti Juda, Jehoahasi ọmọ Jehu di ọba Israẹli ní Samaria. Ó sì jẹ ọba fún ọdún mẹ́tàdínlógún.
In the twenty-third year of Joash son of Ahaziah king of Judah, Jehoahaz son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria; he reigned seventeen years.
2 Ó ṣe búburú níwájú Olúwa nípa títẹ̀lé ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ Jeroboamu ọmọ Nebati, èyí tí ó ti fa Israẹli láti dá, kò sì yípadà kúrò nínú wọn.
He did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh and followed the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin; and Jehoahaz did not turn away from them.
3 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ìbínú Olúwa ru sí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, àti fún ìgbà pípẹ́, ó fi wọ́n pamọ́ sí abẹ́ agbára ọba Hasaeli ọba Siria àti Beni-Hadadi ọmọ rẹ̀.
The anger of Yahweh burned against Israel, and he gave them continually into the hand of Hazael king of Aram and into the hand of Ben Hadad son of Hazael.
4 Nígbà náà Jehoahasi kígbe ó wá ojúrere Olúwa, Olúwa sì tẹ́tí sí i. Nítorí ó rí bí ọba Siria ti ń ni Israẹli lára gidigidi.
So Jehoahaz implored Yahweh, and Yahweh listened to him because he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Aram was oppressing them.
5 Olúwa pèsè olùgbàlà fún Israẹli, wọ́n sì sá kúrò lọ́wọ́ agbára Siria. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn ọmọ Israẹli gbé nínú ilé ara wọn gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọ́n ti wà tẹ́lẹ̀.
So Yahweh gave Israel a rescuer, and they escaped from the hand of the Arameans, and the people of Israel began to live in their homes as they had before.
6 Ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò yípadà kúrò nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ilé Jeroboamu, èyí tí ó ti fa Israẹli láti dá, wọ́n tẹ̀síwájú nínú rẹ̀, ère òrìṣà Aṣerah sì wà síbẹ̀ ní Samaria pẹ̀lú.
Nevertheless, they did not depart from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who caused Israel to sin, and they continued in them; and the Asherah pole remained in Samaria.
7 Kò sí ohùn kan tí wọ́n fi sílẹ̀ ní ti ọmọ-ogun Jehoahasi àyàfi àádọ́ta ọkùnrin ẹlẹ́ṣin, kẹ̀kẹ́ mẹ́wàá, àti ẹgbẹ̀rún mẹ́wàá ọmọ-ogun ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀, nítorí ọba Siria ti pa ìyókù run, ó sì ṣe wọ́n bí eruku nígbà pípa ọkà.
The Arameans left Jehoahaz with only fifty horsemen, ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen, for the king of Aram had destroyed them and made them like the chaff at threshing time.
8 Fún ti ìyókù ìṣe Jehoahasi fún ìgbà, tí ó fi jẹ ọba, gbogbo ohun tí ó ṣe àti àṣeyọrí rẹ̀ ṣé a kò kọ wọ́n sínú ìwé ìtàn ayé àwọn ọba Israẹli?
As for the other matters concerning Jehoahaz, and all that he did and his power, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Israel?
9 Jehoahasi pẹ̀lú àwọn baba rẹ̀. A sì sin ín sí Samaria. Jehoaṣi ọmọ rẹ̀ sì rọ́pò rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọba.
So Jehoahaz slept with his ancestors, and they buried him in Samaria. Johoash his son became king in his place.
10 Ní ọdún kẹtàdínlógójì tí Joaṣi ọba Juda, Jehoaṣi ọmọ Jehoahasi di ọba Israẹli ní Samaria ó sì jẹ ọba fún ọdún mẹ́rìndínlógún.
In the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, the reign of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz began over Israel in Samaria; he reigned sixteen years.
11 Ó ṣe búburú ní ojú Olúwa, kò sì yípadà kúrò nínú ọ̀kankan nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ Jeroboamu ọmọ Nebati èyí tí ó ti ti Israẹli láti fà. Ó sì tẹ̀síwájú nínú wọn.
He did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh. He did not leave behind any of the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, by which he had made Israel to sin, but he walked in them.
12 Fún ti ìyókù iṣẹ́ Jehoaṣi fún ìgbà tí ó fi jẹ ọba, gbogbo ohun tí ó ṣe, pẹ̀lú àṣeyọrí rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú ogun rẹ̀ sí Amasiah ọba Juda, ṣé a kò kọ wọ́n sínú ìwé ìtàn ayé àwọn ọba Israẹli?
As for the other matters concerning Jehoash, and all that he did, and his might by which he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Israel?
13 Jehoaṣi sinmi pẹ̀lú àwọn baba a rẹ̀. Jeroboamu sì rọ́pò rẹ̀ lórí ìtẹ́. A sin Jehoaṣi sí Samaria pẹ̀lú àwọn ọba Israẹli.
Jehoash slept with his ancestors, and Jeroboam sat on his throne. Jehoash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
14 Nísinsin yìí, Eliṣa ń jìyà lọ́wọ́ àìsàn, lọ́wọ́ èyí tí ó sì kú. Jehoaṣi ọba Israẹli lọ láti lọ wò ó, ó sì sọkún lórí rẹ̀. “Baba mi! Baba mi!” Ó sọkún. “Àwọn kẹ̀kẹ́ àti àwọn ọkùnrin ẹlẹ́ṣin Israẹli!”
Now Elisha became sick with an illness by which he later died, so Jehoash the king of Israel came down to him and wept over him. He said, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and the horsemen are taking you away!”
15 Eliṣa wí pé, “Mú ọrun kan àti àwọn ọfà,” ó sì ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀.
Elisha said to him, “Pick up a bow and some arrows,” so Joash picked up a bow and some arrows.
16 “Mú ọrun ní ọwọ́ rẹ.” Ó wí fún ọba Israẹli. Nígbà tí ó ti mú u, Eliṣa mú ọwọ́ rẹ̀ lé ọwọ́ ọba.
Elisha said to the king of Israel, “Put your hand on the bow,” so he put his hand on it. Then Elisha laid his hands on the king's hands.
17 “Ṣí fèrèsé apá ìlà-oòrùn,” ó wí, pẹ̀lú ó sì ṣí i: “Ta á!” Eliṣa wí, ó sì ta á. “Ọfà ìṣẹ́gun Olúwa; ọfà ìṣẹ́gun lórí Siria!” Eliṣa kéde. “Ìwọ yóò pa àwọn ará Siria run pátápátá ní Afeki.”
Elisha said, “Open the window eastward,” so he opened it. Then Elisha said, “Shoot!”, and he shot. Elisha said, “This is Yahweh's arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram, for you will attack the Arameans in Aphek until you have consumed them.”
18 Nígbà náà ó wí pé, “Mú àwọn ọfà náà,” ọba sì mú wọn. Eliṣa wí fún un pé, “Lu ilẹ̀.” Ó lù ú lẹ́ẹ̀mẹ́ta, ó sì dáwọ́ dúró.
Then Elisha said, “Take the arrows,” so Joash took them. He said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground with them,” and he struck the ground three times, then stopped.
19 Ènìyàn Ọlọ́run sì bínú sí i, ó sì wí pé, “Ìwọ kò bá ti lu ilẹ̀ ní ẹ̀ẹ̀márùn ún tàbí ní ẹ̀ẹ̀mẹ́fà, nígbà náà, ìwọ kò bá ti ṣẹ́gun Siria àti pa á run pátápátá ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí, ìwọ yóò ṣẹ́gun rẹ̀ ní ẹ̀ẹ̀mẹ́ta péré.”
But the man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have hit the ground five or six times. Then you would have attacked Aram until you annihilated it, but now you will attack Aram only three times.”
20 Eliṣa kú a sì sin ín. Ẹgbẹ́ àwọn ará Moabu máa ń wọ orílẹ̀-èdè ní gbogbo àmọ́dún.
Then Elisha died, and they buried him. Now groups of Moabites invaded the land at the beginning of the year.
21 Bí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli kan ti ń sin òkú ọkùnrin kan, lójijì wọ́n rí ẹgbẹ́ àwọn oníjadì, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n ju òkú ọkùnrin náà sínú ibojì Eliṣa. Nígbà tí ara ọkùnrin náà kan egungun Eliṣa, ó padà wá sí ayé, ó sì dúró ní ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀.
As they were burying a certain man, they saw a group of Moabites, so they threw the body into Elisha's grave. As soon as the man touched Elisha's bones, he revived and stood up on his feet.
22 Hasaeli ọba Siria ni Israẹli lára ní gbogbo àkókò tí Jehoahasi fi jẹ ọba.
Hazael king of Aram oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
23 Ṣùgbọ́n Olúwa ṣàánú fún wọn ó sì ní ìyọ́nú, ó sì fiyèsí wọn nítorí májẹ̀mú rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú Abrahamu, Isaaki àti Jakọbu. Títí di ọjọ́ òní, kì í ṣe ìfẹ́ inú rẹ̀ láti pa wọ́n run tàbí lé wọn lọ níwájú rẹ̀.
But Yahweh was gracious to Israel, and had compassion on them and concern for them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. So Yahweh did not destroy them, and he still has not driven them away from his presence.
24 Hasaeli ọba Siria kú, Beni-Hadadi ọmọ rẹ̀ sì rọ́pò rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọba.
Hazael king of Aram died, and Ben Hadad his son became king in his place.
25 Nígbà náà, Jehoaṣi ọmọ Jehoahasi gbà padà kúrò lọ́wọ́ Beni-Hadadi ọmọ Hasaeli àwọn ìlú tí ó ti gbà nínú ogun látọ̀dọ̀ baba rẹ̀ Jehoahasi. Ní ẹ̀ẹ̀mẹta, Jehoaṣi ṣẹ́gun rẹ̀, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó gba ìlú àwọn ọmọ Israẹli padà.
Jehoash son of Jehoahaz took back from Ben Hadad son of Hazael the cities that had been taken from Jehoahaz his father by war. Jehoash attacked him three times, and he recovered those cities of Israel.
