< 2 Corinthians 2 >

1 Nítorí náà mo tí pinnu nínú ara mí pé, èmi kì yóò tún fi ìbànújẹ́ tọ̀ yin wá.
But I determined this with myself, that my next visit to you should not be in sorrow.
2 Nítorí pé bí èmi bá mú inú yín bàjẹ́, ǹjẹ́ ta ni ẹni ti ìbá mú inú mí dùn ní àkókò tí inú mi bá bàjẹ́ bí kò ṣe ẹni tí mo ti ba nínú jẹ́?
For if I make you sorrowful, who is there to make me glad but he that is made sorrowful by me?
3 Èmi sì kọ̀wé bí mo tí kọ sí yín pé, nígbà tí mo bá sì de, kí èmi má ṣe ni ìbànújẹ́ lọ́dọ̀ àwọn ti ìbá mú mi ní ayọ̀, nítorí tí mo ní ìgbẹ́kẹ̀lé nínú gbogbo yín, wí pé ẹ̀yin yóò jẹ́ alábápín ayọ̀ mi.
And I wrote about this very matter, that I might not on my coming have sorrow from those who ought to gladden me, having confidence in all of you, that my joy is the joy of you all.
4 Nítorí pé nínú ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ wàhálà àti ìrora ọkàn mí ni mo ti fi ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ omijé kọ̀wé sí yín; kì í ṣe nítorí kí a lè bà yín nínú jẹ́, ṣùgbọ́n kí ẹ̀yin bá a lè mọ bí ìfẹ́ tí mo ní sí yín ṣe jinlẹ̀ tó.
For out of much distress and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears, not that ye should be made sorrowful, but that ye might know the exceeding love which I have for you.
5 Bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá fa ohun ìbànújẹ́ kì í ṣe èmi ni ó bà nínú jẹ́, bí kò ṣe ẹ̀yin fúnra yín, níwọ̀n ìyówù kí ó jẹ́; n kò fẹ́ sọ ọ́ lọ́nà líle jù.
But if any one hath caused grief, he hath caused it not to me alone, but in a measure, not to be too severe on him, to all of you.
6 Ìyà náà tí ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ti fi jẹ́ irú ènìyàn bẹ́ẹ̀ tó fún un.
Sufficient for such a one is this punishment, which was inflicted by the many;
7 Kàkà bẹ́ẹ̀, ẹ̀yin ìbá kúkú dáríjì í, kí ẹ sí tù ú nínú ní gbogbo ọ̀nà, kí ìbànújẹ́ má bà á bo irú ènìyàn bẹ́ẹ̀ mọ́lẹ̀.
so that on the contrary ye ought rather to forgive, and console him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
8 Nítorí náà mo bẹ̀ yín, ẹ fi ìdánilójú ìfẹ́ yín hàn sí irú ẹni náà.
Wherefore I beseech you to confirm your love toward him.
9 Ìdí tí mo ṣe kọ̀wé ni kí èmi ba à lè rí ẹ̀rí dìímú nípa ìgbọ́ràn yín nínú ohun gbogbo.
For to this end also I wrote, that I might know by putting it to the proof, whether ye are obedient in all things.
10 Ṣùgbọ́n bí ẹ̀yin bá dáríjì ẹnikẹ́ni, èmi pẹ̀lú dáríjì í. Ohun tí èmi pẹ̀lú bá fi jì, nítorí tiyín ní mo fi jì níwájú Kristi.
But to whom ye forgive anything, I forgive also; for what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, for your sakes I forgave it in the person of Christ,
11 Kí Satani má ba à rẹ́ wa jẹ. Nítorí àwa kò ṣe aláìmọ́ àrékérekè rẹ̀.
that Satan might not gain an advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.
12 Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà ti mo dé Troasi láti wàásù ìyìnrere Kristi, tí mo sì rí i wí pé Olúwa ti ṣí ìlẹ̀kùn fún mi,
Now when I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ, and a door had been opened to me by the Lord,
13 síbẹ̀ èmi kò ní àlàáfíà lọ́kàn mi, nítorí tí èmi kò rí Titu arákùnrin mi níbẹ̀. Nítorí ìdí èyí ni mo ṣe dágbére fún wọn, mo si rékọjá lọ sí Makedonia.
I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother; but taking my leave of them, I went forth into Macedonia.
14 Ṣùgbọ́n ọpẹ́ ni fún Ọlọ́run, ẹni tí ń yọ ayọ̀ ìṣẹ́gun lórí wá nígbà gbogbo nínú Kristi, tí a sì ń fi òórùn dídùn ìmọ̀ rẹ̀ hàn nípa wa níbi gbogbo.
But thanks be to God, who always exhibiteth us in triumph in Christ, and manifesteth through us the odor of the knowledge of him in every place.
15 Nítorí òórùn dídùn Kristi ni àwa jẹ́ fún Ọlọ́run, nínú àwọn tí a ń gbàlà àti nínú àwọn tí ó ń ṣègbé.
For we are to God a sweet odor of Christ among those who are being saved, and those who are perishing;
16 Fún àwọn kan, àwa jẹ́ òórùn sí ikú, àti fún àwọn mìíràn òórùn ìyè sí ìyè. Ta ni ó ha si tọ́ fún nǹkan wọ̀nyí?
to the latter we are the odor of death, producing death; and to the former the odor of life, producing life. And who is sufficient for these things?
17 Nítorí àwa kò dàbí àwọn ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀, tí ń fi ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run ṣòwò jẹun; ṣùgbọ́n nínú òtítọ́ inú àwa ń sọ̀rọ̀ níwájú Ọlọ́run nínú Kristi gẹ́gẹ́ bí àwọn tí a rán láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run wá.
For we are not as the many, who adulterate the word of God; but as from sincerity, but as from God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.
