< 2 Chronicles 34 >

1 Josiah sì jẹ́ ẹni ọdún mẹ́jọ nígbà tí ó jẹ ọba, ó sì dí ọba ní Jerusalẹmu fún ọdún mọ́kànlélọ́gbọ̀n.
Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem.
2 Ó sì ṣe ohun tí ó dára ní ojú Olúwa, ó sì rìn ọ̀nà baba rẹ̀ Dafidi, kò sì yà sí ọwọ́ ọ̀tún tàbí òsì.
He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, and walked in the ways of David his father, and didn’t turn away to the right hand or to the left.
3 Ní ọdún kẹjọ ìjọba rẹ̀, nígbà tí ó sì wà ní ọ̀dọ́mọdé, ó sì bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí í wá ojú Ọlọ́run baba Dafidi. Ní ọdún kejìlá. Ó sì bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí fọ Juda àti Jerusalẹmu mọ́ kúrò ní ibi gíga rẹ̀, ère òrìṣà Aṣerah, àti ère yíyá àti ère dídà.
For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, the Asherah poles, the engraved images, and the molten images.
4 Lábẹ́ àpẹẹrẹ àwọn pẹpẹ Baali ni a yí lulẹ̀, ó sì fọ́ àwọn ère sí wẹ́wẹ́, ó run àwọn pẹpẹ tí ó wà lórí rẹ̀, wọ́n sì fọ́ túútúú, àwọn ère Aṣerah àti àwọn òrìṣà. Èyí tí ó fọ́ wọn sì lúúlúú, ó sì gbọ̀n wọ́n sí orí isà òkú àti àwọn tí ó ń rú ẹbọ sí wọn.
They broke down the altars of the Baals in his presence; and he cut down the incense altars that were on high above them. He broke the Asherah poles, the engraved images, and the molten images in pieces, made dust of them, and scattered it on the graves of those who had sacrificed to them.
5 Ó sì sun àwọn egungun àwọn àlùfáà lórí pẹpẹ wọn, bẹ́ẹ̀ sì ni ó sì wẹ Juda àti Jerusalẹmu mọ́.
He burned the bones of the priests on their altars, and purged Judah and Jerusalem.
6 Ní ìlú Manase, Efraimu àti Simeoni, àní títí ó fi dé Naftali, àti nínú àwọn, ó tú ilé wọn yíkákiri.
He did this in the cities of Manasseh, Ephraim, and Simeon, even to Naphtali, around in their ruins.
7 Ó sì wó pẹpẹ àti ère Aṣerah lulẹ̀ àti àwọn ère yíyá àti àwọn òrìṣà, ó sì gùn ó sì ti ké gbogbo àwọn ère orí pẹpẹ lulẹ̀ ní gbogbo àyíká Israẹli. Lẹ́yìn náà ó padà sí Jerusalẹmu.
He broke down the altars, beat the Asherah poles and the engraved images into powder, and cut down all the incense altars throughout all the land of Israel, then returned to Jerusalem.
8 Ní ọdún kejìdínlógún ìjọba Josiah ni a ti wẹ ilẹ̀ náà mọ́ àti ilé Olúwa, ó sì rán Ṣafani ọmọ Asalia àti Maaseiah olórí ìlú náà, pẹ̀lú Joah, ọmọ Joahasi, akọ̀wé, láti tún ilé Olúwa Ọlọ́run ṣe.
Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder to repair the house of Yahweh his God.
9 Wọ́n sì lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ Hilkiah olórí àlùfáà, ó sì fún un ní owó náà tí ó mú wá sí inú ilé Ọlọ́run, ti àwọn ọmọ Lefi ẹni tí ó jẹ́ aṣọ́bodè ti gbà láti ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn ènìyàn Manase Efraimu àti láti ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn ìyókù Israẹli àti ọ̀dọ̀ gbogbo ènìyàn Juda àti Benjamini wọ́n sì padà sí Jerusalẹmu.
They came to Hilkiah the high priest and delivered the money that was brought into God’s house, which the Levites, the keepers of the threshold, had gathered from the hands of Manasseh, Ephraim, of all the remnant of Israel, of all Judah and Benjamin, and of the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
10 Nígbà náà ni wọn sì fi le àwọn tí ń ṣiṣẹ́ ilé lọ́wọ́, àwọn tí ń ṣe alábojútó iṣẹ́ ilé Olúwa. Àwọn ọkùnrin yìí sì san owó fún àwọn òṣìṣẹ́ tí ó ń túnṣe, tí wọ́n sì ń ṣiṣẹ́ ní ilé Olúwa.
They delivered it into the hands of the workmen who had the oversight of Yahweh’s house; and the workmen who labored in Yahweh’s house gave it to mend and repair the house.
11 Wọ́n sì tún fi owó fún àwọn oníṣọ̀nà àti àwọn olùkọ́lé láti ra òkúta gbígbẹ́ àti ìtì igi fún ìsopọ̀ àti igi rírẹ́ fún ìkọ́lé tí ọba Juda ti gbà láti túnṣe.
They gave it to the carpenters and to the builders to buy cut stone and timber for couplings, and to make beams for the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.
12 Àwọn ọkùnrin náà ṣe iṣẹ́ náà pẹ̀lú òtítọ́, láti darí wọn ní Jahati àti Obadiah, àwọn ọmọ Lefi láti Merari, àti Sekariah àti Meṣullamu, sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti Kohati àwọn ọmọ Lefi gbogbo tí ó ní ọgbọ̀n ohun èlò orin.
The men did the work faithfully. Their overseers were Jahath and Obadiah the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to give direction; and others of the Levites, who were all skillful with musical instruments.
13 Wọ́n sì ní olórí àwọn aláàárù àti àwọn alábojútó gbogbo àwọn òṣìṣẹ́ láti ibi iṣẹ́ sí ibi iṣẹ́, díẹ̀ nínú àwọn ọmọ Lefi sì ní akọ̀wé, olùtọ́jú àti olùṣọ́nà.
Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and directed all who did the work in every kind of service. Of the Levites, there were scribes, officials, and gatekeepers.
14 Nígbà tí wọ́n mú owó náà tí wọ́n mú wá sí ilé Olúwa, Hilkiah àlùfáà sì rí ìwé òfin Olúwa tí a ti fi fún un láti ọwọ́ Mose.
When they brought out the money that was brought into Yahweh’s house, Hilkiah the priest found the book of Yahweh’s law given by Moses.
15 Hilkiah sì wí fún Ṣafani akọ̀wé pé, “Èmi ti rí ìwé òfin nínú ilé Olúwa.” Ó sì fi fún Ṣafani.
Hilkiah answered Shaphan the scribe, “I have found the book of the law in Yahweh’s house.” So Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.
16 Nígbà náà Ṣafani sì mú ìwé náà lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọba ó sì ròyìn fún un. “Àwọn ìjòyè rẹ̀ ń ṣe gbogbo nǹkan tí a ti fi lé wọn lọ́wọ́.
Shaphan carried the book to the king, and moreover brought back word to the king, saying, “All that was committed to your servants, they are doing.
17 Wọ́n ti san owó náà tí ó wà nínú ilé Olúwa wọ́n sì ti fi lé àwọn alábojútó lọ́wọ́ àti àwọn òṣìṣẹ́.”
They have emptied out the money that was found in Yahweh’s house, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers and into the hand of the workmen.”
18 Nígbà náà Ṣafani akọ̀wé sì sọ fún ọba, “Hilkiah àlùfáà ti fún mi ní ìwé.” Ṣafani sì kà níwájú ọba.
Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, “Hilkiah the priest has delivered me a book.” Shaphan read from it to the king.
19 Nígbà tí ọba sì gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ òfin, ó sì fa aṣọ rẹ̀ ya.
When the king had heard the words of the law, he tore his clothes.
20 Ó sì pa àṣẹ yìí fún Hilkiah, Ahikamu ọmọ Ṣafani, Abdoni ọmọ Mika, Ṣafani akọ̀wé àti Asaiah ìránṣẹ́ ọba.
The king commanded Hilkiah, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying,
21 “Ẹ lọ kí ẹ lọ béèrè lọ́wọ́ Olúwa fún mi nípa àwọn ìyókù Israẹli àti Juda nípa ohun tí wọ́n kọ sínú ìwé yìí tí a ti rí. Títóbi ni ìbínú Olúwa tí ó ti jáde sí orí wa nítorí àwọn baba wa kò ti pa ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa mọ́, wọn kò sì tí ì ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí i gbogbo èyí tí a kọ sínú ìwé yìí.”
“Go inquire of Yahweh for me, and for those who are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found; for great is Yahweh’s wrath that is poured out on us, because our fathers have not kept Yahweh’s word, to do according to all that is written in this book.”
22 Hilkiah àti àwọn ènìyàn tí ọba yàn tọ Hulda wòlíì obìnrin láti ba sọ̀rọ̀, ẹni tí ó jẹ́ aya Ṣallumu ọmọ Tokhati tí a tún ń pè ní Tikfa, ọmọ Harhasi, olùtọ́jú ibi ìkáṣọsí. Ó sì ń gbé ní Jerusalẹmu, ní ìhà kejì.
So Hilkiah and those whom the king had commanded went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tokhath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in the second quarter), and they spoke to her to that effect.
23 Ó sì wí fún wọn wí pé, “Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa, Ọlọ́run Israẹli ti sọ, sọ fún àwọn ọkùnrin tí ó rán ọ sí mi pé,
She said to them, “Yahweh, the God of Israel says: ‘Tell the man who sent you to me,
24 ‘Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa wí, “Èmi yóò sì mú ibi wá sí ìhín yìí àti àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ gbogbo àní ègún tí a kọ sínú ìwé tí wọ́n ti kà níwájú ọba Juda.”
“Yahweh says, ‘Behold, I will bring evil on this place and on its inhabitants, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah.
25 Nítorí tí wọ́n ti kọ̀ mí sílẹ̀ wọ́n sì ti sun tùràrí sí ọlọ́run mìíràn wọ́n sì ti mú mi bínú pẹ̀lú gbogbo ohun tí wọ́n ti fi ọwọ́ wọn ṣe, ìbínú yóò tú jáde wá sórí ibí yìí, a kì yóò sì paná rẹ̀.’
Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands, therefore my wrath is poured out on this place, and it will not be quenched.’”’
26 Sọ fún ọba Juda, ẹni tí ó rán yín láti béèrè lọ́wọ́ Olúwa, ‘Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa ti sọ, Ọlọ́run Israẹli, sọ nípa ọ̀rọ̀ wọ́n nì tí ìwọ gbọ́.
But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Yahweh, you shall tell him this, ‘Yahweh, the God of Israel says: “About the words which you have heard,
27 Nítorí ọkàn rẹ̀ dúró, ìwọ sì rẹ ara rẹ sílẹ̀ níwájú Olúwa nígbà tí ó gbọ́ ohun tí ó sọ lórí ibí yìí àti ènìyàn rẹ, nítorí ìwọ rẹ ara rẹ sílẹ̀ níwájú mi tí o sì fa aṣọ rẹ ya, tí o sì lọ níwájú mi. Èmi ti gbọ́ tìrẹ ni Olúwa wí.
because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this place and against its inhabitants, and have humbled yourself before me, and have torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you,” says Yahweh.
28 Nísinsin yìí, Èmi ó kó ọ jọ pọ̀ sọ́dọ̀ àwọn baba rẹ, a ó sì sin ọ́ ní àlàáfíà. Ojú rẹ kò sì ní rí gbogbo ibi tí èmi ó mú wá sórí ibí yìí àti lórí àwọn tí ń gbé ibẹ̀.’” Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n mú ìdáhùn rẹ̀ padà sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọba.
“Behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes won’t see all the evil that I will bring on this place and on its inhabitants.”’” They brought back this message to the king.
29 Nígbà náà ni ọba sì pe gbogbo àwọn àgbàgbà Juda jọ àti Jerusalẹmu.
Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.
30 Ó gòkè lọ sí ilé Olúwa pẹ̀lú àwọn ọkùnrin Juda, àwọn ènìyàn Jerusalẹmu, àwọn àlùfáà àti àwọn Lefi—gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn láti ibi kéékèèké sí ńlá. Ó kà á sí etí ìgbọ́ ọ wọn, gbogbo ọ̀rọ̀ tí ó wà nínú ìwé májẹ̀mú, tí a ti rí nínú ilé Olúwa.
The king went up to Yahweh’s house with all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem—the priests, the Levites, and all the people, both great and small—and he read in their hearing all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in Yahweh’s house.
31 Ọba sì dúró ní ipò rẹ̀ ó sì tún májẹ̀mú dá níwájú Olúwa, láti tẹ̀lé Olúwa àti láti pa òfin rẹ̀ mọ́, àti ẹ̀rí rẹ̀ àti àṣẹ rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú gbogbo ọkàn rẹ̀ àti gbogbo àyà rẹ̀ àti láti pa ọ̀rọ̀ májẹ̀mú tí a kọ sí inú ìwé yìí.
The king stood in his place and made a covenant before Yahweh, to walk after Yahweh, and to keep his commandments, his testimonies, and his statutes with all his heart and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book.
32 Nígbà náà, ó sì mú kí gbogbo ènìyàn ní Jerusalẹmu àti Benjamini dúró nínú ẹ̀rí fún ara wọn, àwọn ènìyàn Jerusalẹmu ṣe èyí gẹ́gẹ́ bi májẹ̀mú Ọlọ́run, Ọlọ́run baba ńlá wọn.
He caused all who were found in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand. The inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.
33 Josiah sì kó gbogbo ohun ìríra kúrò nínú gbogbo ìlú tí ń ṣe ti àwọn tí ó wà ní Israẹli, ó sì mú kí gbogbo àwọn tí ó wà ní Israẹli sin Olúwa Ọlọ́run wọn gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ti ṣe wà láyè wọn, kò yà kúrò láti máa tọ Olúwa Ọlọ́run àwọn baba wọn lẹ́yìn.
Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that belonged to the children of Israel, and made all who were found in Israel to serve, even to serve Yahweh their God. All his days they didn’t depart from following Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
