< 2 Chronicles 14 >

1 Abijah sì sùn pẹ̀lú àwọn baba rẹ̀, a sì sin ín ní ìlú Dafidi. Asa ọmọ rẹ̀ sì jẹ ọba ní ipò rẹ̀. Ní àwọn ọjọ́ rẹ̀, orílẹ̀-èdè wà ní àlàáfíà fún ọdún mẹ́wàá.
So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David, and Asa his son reigned in his stead, —in his days, the land rested ten years.
2 Asa ṣe ohun tí ó dára, tí ó sì tọ́ ní ojú Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ̀.
And Asa did that which was good and that which was right, in the eyes of Yahweh his God;
3 Ó gbé àwọn pẹpẹ àjèjì kúrò àti àwọn ibi gíga. Ó fọ́ àwọn òkúta tí a yà sọ́tọ̀, ó sì gé àwọn ère Aṣerah bolẹ̀.
and took away the foreign altars, and the high places, —and brake in pieces the pillars, and cut in twain the Sacred Stems;
4 Ó pa á láṣẹ fún Juda láti wá Olúwa Ọlọ́run àwọn baba a wọn àti láti tẹ̀lé àwọn òfin rẹ̀ àti àṣẹ.
and bade Judah seek Yahweh, God of their fathers, -and execute the law, and the commandment;
5 Ó gbé àwọn ibi gíga kúrò àti àwọn pẹpẹ tùràrí ní gbogbo ìlú ní Juda. Ìjọba sì wà ní àlàáfíà ní abẹ́ rẹ̀.
and removed from all the cities of Judah, the high places, and the sun-images, —and the kingdom became quiet before him.
And he built cities of defence, in Judah, —for the land had quiet, nor was there near him any war, in these years, because Yahweh had given him rest.
7 “Ẹ jẹ́ kí a kọ́ àwọn ìlú wọ̀nyí,” ó wí fún Juda, “kí ẹ sì mọ odi yí wọn ká pẹ̀lú àwọn ilé ìṣọ́ gíga, àwọn ẹnu-ọ̀nà òde, àti àwọn ìpẹ́ẹ̀rẹ̀. Ilé náà ti wà, nítorí a ti béèrè lọ́wọ́ Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa; a béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀, ó sì ti fún wa ní ìsinmi ní gbogbo ọ̀nà.” Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n kọ́ ọ, wọn sì ṣe rere.
Therefore said he to Judah, Let us build these cities, and let us surround them with walls and towers, doors and bars, while the land is yet before us, for we have sought Yahweh our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built, and prospered.
8 Asa ní àwọn ọmọ-ogun ti ó jẹ́ ọ̀kẹ́ mẹ́ẹ̀ẹ́dógún àwọn ọkùnrin láti Juda. Pẹ̀lú àwọn ohun èlò àwọn àpáta ńlá àti ọ̀kọ̀ àti ọ̀kẹ́ mẹ́rìnlá láti Benjamini wọ́n dira pẹ̀lú àwọn àpáta kéékèèké àti àwọn ọrun. Gbogbo àwọn wọ̀nyí jẹ́ ògbójú jagunjagun ọkùnrin.
And it came to pass that, Asa, had a force bearing shield and spear, out of Judah, three hundred thousand, and, out of Benjamin, such as bare a buckler and trode a bow, two hundred and eighty thousand, —all these, were heroes of valour.
9 Sera ará Etiopia yàn láti dojúkọ wọ́n, pẹ̀lú ọ̀pọ̀ ọmọ-ogun pẹ̀lú ọ̀ọ́dúnrún kẹ̀kẹ́, wọ́n sì wá láti jìnnà réré bí Meraṣa.
Then came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian, with a force of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots, —and he came as far as Mareshah.
10 Asa jáde lọ láti lọ bá a. Wọ́n sì mú ibi ogun ní pẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ Sefata lẹ́bàá Meraṣa.
And Asa went out to meet him, —and they set in array for battle, in the valley of Zaphonah, at Mareshah.
11 Nígbà náà, Asa ké pe Olúwa Ọlọ́run baba a rẹ̀, ó sì wí pé “Olúwa kò sí ẹnìkan bí rẹ láti rán aláìlágbára lọ́wọ́ láti dójú kọ alágbára. Ràn wá lọ́wọ́, Olúwa Ọlọ́run wa, nítorí tí àwa gbẹ́kẹ̀lé ọ àti ní orúkọ rẹ ni àwa fi wá láti dojúkọ àwọn ọ̀pọ̀ ọmọ-ogun yìí. Olúwa, ìwọ ni Ọlọ́run wa; má ṣe jẹ́ kí ènìyàn kó ṣẹ́gun rẹ.”
Then Asa cried out unto Yahweh his God, and said, O Yahweh, it is, nothing with thee, to help whether with many or with such as have no strength. Help us, O Yahweh our God, for, on thee, do we lean, and, in thy name, have we come against this multitude, —O Yahweh! our God, thou art, let not, weak man, have power against thee.
12 Olúwa lu àwọn ará Kuṣi bolẹ̀ níwájú Asa àti Juda. Àwọn ará Kuṣi sálọ.
So Yahweh smote the Ethiopians, before Asa, and before Judah, —and the Ethiopians fled.
13 Asa àti àwọn ọmọ-ogun rẹ̀ sá tẹ̀lé wọn ní jìnnà réré sí Gerari. Ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀, àwọn ará Kuṣi ṣubú, wọn kò sì le sán padà mọ́. Wọn rún wọn mọ́lẹ̀ níwájú Olúwa àti ọmọ-ogun rẹ̀. Àwọn ọkùnrin Juda kó ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ìkógun.
And Asa and the people that were with him pursued as far as to Gerar, and the Ethiopians fell, so that there was no way for them to recover, for they were routed before Yahweh, and before him host, —and they carried away exceeding much spoil.
14 Wọ́n pa gbogbo àwọn ìletò tí ó wà ní ẹ̀bá Gerari, nítorí tí ìpayà Olúwa ti sọ̀kalẹ̀ sórí wọn. Wọ́n kó gbogbo ìkógun àwọn ìletò yìí lọ, níwọ̀n ìgbà tí ọ̀pọ̀ ìkógun ti wà níbẹ̀.
And they smote all the cities round shout Gerar, for the dread of Yahweh was upon them, —and they plundered all the cities, for, great plunder, was there in them.
15 Wọ́n kọlu àwọn ibùdó àwọn darandaran, wọ́n sì gbé àwọn ọ̀wọ́ ẹran àgùntàn àti àwọn ewúrẹ́ àti àwọn ìbákasẹ. Nígbà náà wọ́n padà sí Jerusalẹmu.
Moreover also, the tents of the cattle, they smote, —and carried off sheep in abundance, and camels, and returned to Jerusalem.
