< 1 Thessalonians 5 >

1 Nísinsin yìí, ará, a kò nílò láti kọ ìwé sí i yín mọ́ nípa àkókò àti ìgbà,
Now about the times and seasons, brothers, we do not need to write to you.
2 nítorí ẹ̀yin pàápàá mọ̀ wí pé ọjọ́ Olúwa yóò wá bí olè lóru.
For you are fully aware that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
3 Ní àkókò gan an tí àwọn ènìyàn yóò máa wí pé, “Àlàáfíà àti ààbò,” nígbà náà ni ìparun òjijì yóò dé sórí wọn gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìrọbí obìnrin tí ó lóyún, wọn kò sí ni rí ibi ààbò láti sá sí.
While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
4 Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ̀yin ará, kò sí nínú òkùnkùn nípa nǹkan wọ̀nyí tí ọjọ́ Olúwa yóò fi dé bá yín bí olè.
But you, brothers, are not in the darkness so that this day should overtake you like a thief.
5 Nítorí gbogbo yín ni ọmọ ìmọ́lẹ̀ àti ọmọ ọ̀sán gangan. Ẹ kì í ṣe tí òru tàbí tí òkùnkùn mọ́.
For you are all sons of the light and sons of the day; we do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
6 Nítorí náà, ẹ kíyèsára yín kí ẹ má ṣe sùn bí àwọn ẹlòmíràn. Ẹ máa ṣọ́nà kí ẹ sì máa pa ara yín mọ́.
So then, let us not sleep as the others do, but let us remain awake and sober.
7 Nítorí àwọn tí wọ́n ń sùn, a máa sùn ní òru, àwọn ẹni tí ń mu àmupara, a máa mú un ní òru.
For those who sleep, sleep at night; and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.
8 Ṣùgbọ́n àwa jẹ́ ti ìmọ́lẹ̀, ẹ jẹ́ kí a pa ara wa mọ́, ní gbígbé ìgbàgbọ́ wọ̀ àti ìfẹ́ bí ìgbàyà ni òru àti ìrètí ìgbàlà bí àṣíborí.
But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and the helmet of our hope of salvation.
9 Nítorí pé, Ọlọ́run kò yàn wa láti da ìbínú rẹ̀ gbígbóná sí orí wa, ṣùgbọ́n ó yàn láti gbà wá là nípasẹ̀ Olúwa wa, Jesu Kristi.
For God has not appointed us to suffer wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
10 Jesu kú fún wa kí a lè ba à gbé títí láéláé. Èyí yóò rí bẹ́ẹ̀ yálà a sùn tàbí a wà láààyè pẹ̀lú rẹ̀.
He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him.
11 Nítorí náà, ẹ máa gba ara yín níyànjú, kí ẹ sì máa gbé ara yín ró, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹ ti ń ṣe.
Therefore encourage and build one another up, just as you are already doing.
12 Ẹ̀yin ará, ẹ fi ọlá fún àwọn olórí tí ń ṣe iṣẹ́ àṣekára láàrín yín tí wọn ń kìlọ̀ fún yín nínú Olúwa.
But we ask you, brothers, to acknowledge those who work diligently among you, who preside over you in the Lord and give you instruction.
13 Ẹ bu ọlá fún wọn gidigidi nínú ìfẹ́, nítorí iṣẹ́ wọn. Ẹ sì máa wà ní àlàáfíà láàrín ara yín.
In love, hold them in highest regard because of their work. Live in peace with one another.
14 Ẹ̀yin ará mi, ẹ kìlọ̀ fún àwọn ọ̀lẹ ti ó wà láàrín yín, ẹ gba àwọn tí ẹ̀rù ń bà ní ìyànjú, ẹ tọ́jú àwọn aláìlera pẹ̀lẹ́pẹ̀lẹ́, kí ẹ sì ní sùúrù pẹ̀lú gbogbo ènìyàn.
And we urge you, brothers, to admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, and be patient with everyone.
15 Ẹ rí i pé kò sí ẹni tí ó fi búburú san búburú, ṣùgbọ́n ẹ máa lépa èyí tí í ṣe rere láàrín ara yín àti sí ènìyàn gbogbo.
Make sure that no one repays evil for evil. Always pursue what is good for one another and for all people.
16 Ẹ máa yọ̀ nígbà gbogbo.
Rejoice at all times.
17 Ẹ máa gbàdúrà nígbà gbogbo.
Pray without ceasing.
18 Ẹ máa dúpẹ́ nígbà gbogbo nínú ipòkípò tí o wù kí ẹ wà; nítorí pé, èyí ni ìfẹ́ Ọlọ́run fún yin nínú Kristi Jesu nítòótọ́.
Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
19 Ẹ má ṣe pa iná Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́.
Do not extinguish the Spirit.
20 Ẹ má ṣe kẹ́gàn àwọn ti ń sọtẹ́lẹ̀.
Do not treat prophecies with contempt,
21 Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ dán gbogbo nǹkan wò. Ẹ di èyí tí ṣe òtítọ́ mú.
but test all things. Hold fast to what is good.
22 Ẹ yẹra fún ohunkóhun tí í ṣe ibi.
Abstain from every form of evil.
23 Kí Ọlọ́run fúnra rẹ̀, Ọlọ́run àlàáfíà, sọ yín di mímọ́ pátápátá. Kí Ọlọ́run pa ẹ̀mí àti ọkàn pẹ̀lú ara yín mọ́ pátápátá ní àìlábùkù, títí di ìgbà wíwá Jesu Kristi Olúwa wa.
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your entire spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Olóòtítọ́ ni ẹni tí ó pè yín, yóò sì ṣe.
The One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.
25 Ẹ̀yin ará, ẹ gbàdúrà fún wa.
Brothers, pray for us as well.
26 Ẹ fi ìfẹ́nukonu mímọ́ ki ara yin.
Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.
27 Mo pàṣẹ fún yín níwájú Olúwa pé, kí ẹ ka lẹ́tà yìí fún gbogbo àwọn ará.
I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers.
28 Ki oore-ọ̀fẹ́ Jesu Kristi Olúwa wa, wà pẹ̀lú yín.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
