< 1 Samuel 9 >

1 Ará Benjamini kan wà, ẹni tí ó jẹ́ aláàánú ọlọ́rọ̀, orúkọ rẹ̀ ń jẹ́ Kiṣi, ọmọ Abieli, ọmọ Serori, ọmọ Bekorati, ọmọ Afiah ti Benjamini.
Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Becorath, the son of Aphiah, the son of a Benjamite, a mighty man of valor.
2 Ó ní ọmọkùnrin kan tí à ń pè ní Saulu, ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin tí ó yanjú, tí ó jẹ́ arẹwà, tí kò sí ẹni tó ní ẹwà jù ú lọ láàrín gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Israẹli—láti èjìká rẹ̀ lọ sí òkè, ó ga ju gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn tókù lọ.
He had a son whose name was Saul, an impressive young man; and there was not among the children of Israel a more handsome person than he. From his shoulders and upward he was taller than any of the people.
3 Nísinsin yìí àwọn kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ tí ó jẹ́ ti Kiṣi baba Saulu sì sọnù. Nígbà náà, Kiṣi sọ fún Saulu ọmọ rẹ̀ pé, “Mú ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ìránṣẹ́ pẹ̀lú rẹ kí ẹ lọ láti wá àwọn kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ náà.”
The donkeys of Kish, Saul’s father, were lost. Kish said to Saul his son, “Now take one of the servants with you, and arise, go look for the donkeys.”
4 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ní ó kọjá láàrín àwọn ìlú olókè Efraimu, ó sì kọjá ní àyíká ilẹ̀ Ṣaliṣa, ṣùgbọ́n wọn kò rí wọn. Wọ́n sì kọjá lọ sí òpópó Ṣaalimu, ṣùgbọ́n àwọn kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ kò sí níbẹ̀. Nígbà náà, ó kọjá ní agbègbè Benjamini, wọn kò sì rí wọn.
He passed through the hill country of Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalishah, but they did not find them. Then they passed through the land of Shaalim, and they were not there. Then he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they did not find them.
5 Nígbà tí wọ́n dé agbègbè Sufu, Saulu sọ fún ìránṣẹ́ tí ó wà lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ pé, “Wá, jẹ́ kí á padà sẹ́yìn, bí bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́, baba mi yóò dá ìrònú rẹ̀ dúró nípa àwọn kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ yóò sì bẹ̀rẹ̀ àníyàn nípa wa.”
When they had come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant who was with him, “Come! Let’s return, lest my father stop caring about the donkeys and be anxious for us.”
6 Ṣùgbọ́n ìránṣẹ́ náà fún un ní èsì pé, “Wò ó, ní inú ìlú yìí ọkùnrin ènìyàn Ọlọ́run kan wà; ó jẹ́ ẹni tí wọ́n ń bu ọlá fún, àti gbogbo ohun tí ó bá sọ ní ó máa ń jẹ́ òtítọ́. Jẹ́ kí á lọ síbẹ̀ nísinsin yìí, bóyá yóò sọ fún wá ọ̀nà tí a yóò gbà.”
The servant said to him, “Behold now, there is a man of God in this city, and he is a man who is held in honor. All that he says surely happens. Now let’s go there. Perhaps he can tell us which way to go.”
7 Saulu sọ fún ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀, “Tí àwa bá lọ, kín ni àwa lè fún ọkùnrin náà? Oúnjẹ inú àpò wa ti tán. A kò sì ní ẹ̀bùn láti mú lọ sọ́dọ̀ ènìyàn Ọlọ́run. Kí ni a ní?”
Then Saul said to his servant, “But behold, if we go, what should we bring the man? For the bread is spent in our sacks, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God. What do we have?”
8 Ìránṣẹ́ sì dá a lóhùn lẹ́ẹ̀kan sí i. “Wò ó,” ó wí pé, “Mo ní ìdámẹ́rin ṣékélì fàdákà lọ́wọ́. Èmi yóò fún ènìyàn Ọlọ́run náà kí ó lè fi ọ̀nà hàn wá.”
The servant answered Saul again and said, “Behold, I have in my hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver. I will give that to the man of God, to tell us our way.”
9 (Tẹ́lẹ̀ ní Israẹli tí ọkùnrin kan bá lọ béèrè lọ́dọ̀ Ọlọ́run, yóò wí pé, “Wá, jẹ́ kí a lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ wòlíì náà,” nítorí àwọn alásọtẹ́lẹ̀ ìsinsin yìí ni wọ́n ń pè ní wòlíì).
(In earlier times in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, he said, “Come! Let’s go to the seer;” for he who is now called a prophet was before called a seer.)
10 Saulu sọ fún ìránṣẹ́ ẹ rẹ̀ pé ó dára, “Jẹ́ kí a lọ.” Wọ́n jáde lọ sí ìlú tí ènìyàn Ọlọ́run náà ń gbé.
Then Saul said to his servant, “Well said. Come! Let’s go.” So they went to the city where the man of God was.
11 Bí wọ́n ṣe ń lọ ní orí òkè sí ìlú náà, wọ́n pàdé àwọn ọ̀dọ́mọbìnrin tí ó ń jáde í bọ̀ láti wá pọn omí. Wọ́n sì bi wọ́n, “Ṣé wòlíì náà wà níbí?”
As they went up the ascent to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said to them, “Is the seer here?”
12 “Ó wà,” wọ́n dáhùn. “Ó ń bẹ níwájú u yín, múra nísinsin yìí, ó ṣẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ wa lónìí ni, nítorí àwọn ènìyàn ní ẹbọ rírú ni ibi gíga.
They answered them and said, “He is. Behold, he is before you. Hurry now, for he has come today into the city; for the people have a sacrifice today in the high place.
13 Kété tí ẹ bá ti wọ ìlú, ẹ ó rí i kí ó tó lọ sí ibi gíga láti lọ jẹun. Àwọn ènìyàn kò sì ní bẹ̀rẹ̀ sí jẹun títí tí yóò fi dé. Torí ó gbọdọ̀ bùkún ẹbọ náà; lẹ́yìn náà, àwọn tí a pè yóò jẹun. Gòkè lọ nísinsin yìí, ó yẹ kí ẹ rí i ní àkókò yìí.”
As soon as you have come into the city, you will immediately find him before he goes up to the high place to eat; for the people will not eat until he comes, because he blesses the sacrifice. Afterwards those who are invited eat. Now therefore go up; for at this time you will find him.”
14 Wọ́n gòkè lọ sí ìlú náà, bí wọ́n ti ń wọlé, níbẹ̀ ni Samuẹli, ń bọ̀ wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ wọn bí ó ti ń lọ ibi gíga náà.
They went up to the city. As they came within the city, behold, Samuel came out toward them to go up to the high place.
15 Olúwa ti sọ létí Samuẹli ní ọjọ́ kan kí Saulu ó tó dé pé,
Now the LORD had revealed to Samuel a day before Saul came, saying,
16 “Ní ìwòyí ọ̀la, èmi yóò ran ọmọkùnrin kan sí ọ láti ilẹ̀ Benjamini. Fi òróró yàn án gẹ́gẹ́ bí olórí lórí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, yóò gba àwọn ènìyàn mi kúrò lọ́wọ́ àwọn ará Filistini. Mo ti bojú wo àwọn ènìyàn mi, nítorí igbe wọn ti dé ọ̀dọ̀ mi.”
“Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be prince over my people Israel. He will save my people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon my people, because their cry has come to me.”
17 Nígbà tí Samuẹli fojúrí Saulu, Olúwa sọ fún un pé, “Èyí ni ọkùnrin tí mo sọ fún ọ nípa rẹ̀, yóò darí àwọn ènìyàn mi.”
When Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said to him, “Behold, the man of whom I spoke to you! He will have authority over my people.”
18 Saulu sì súnmọ́ Samuẹli ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà ìlú, ó sì wí pé, “Sọ fún mi èmi ń bẹ̀ ọ́ níbo ni ilé wòlíì náà wà.”
Then Saul approached Samuel in the gateway, and said, “Please tell me where the seer’s house is.”
19 Samuẹli dáhùn pé, “Èmi ni wòlíì náà. Ẹ máa gòkè lọ ṣáájú mi, ní ibi gíga, ẹ ó sì bá mi jẹun lónìí. Ní òwúrọ̀ ni èmi yóò tó jẹ́ kí ẹ lọ, gbogbo ohun tí ó wà ní ọkàn rẹ ní èmi yóò sọ fún ọ.
Samuel answered Saul and said, “I am the seer. Go up before me to the high place, for you are to eat with me today. In the morning I will let you go and will tell you all that is in your heart.
20 Fún ti kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ tí ó sọnù fún ọjọ́ mẹ́ta sẹ́yìn, má ṣe dààmú nípa wọ́n: a ti rí wọn. Sí ta ni gbogbo ìfẹ́ Israẹli wà? Bí kì í ṣe sí ìwọ àti sí gbogbo ilé baba à rẹ.”
As for your donkeys who were lost three days ago, do not set your mind on them, for they have been found. For whom does all Israel desire? Is it not you and all your father’s house?”
21 Saulu dáhùn pé, “Ṣùgbọ́n èmi kì í há ṣe ẹ̀yà Benjamini? Kékeré nínú ẹ̀yà Israẹli. Ìdílé mi kò ha rẹ̀yìn jùlọ nínú gbogbo ẹ̀yà Benjamini? Èéṣì ti ṣe tí ìwọ sọ̀rọ̀ yìí sí mi?”
Saul answered, “Am I not a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? And my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why then do you speak to me like this?”
22 Nígbà náà ni Samuẹli mú Saulu pẹ̀lú ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ wọ inú gbọ̀ngán, ó sì mú wọn jókòó sí iwájú àwọn tí a pè—tí wọn tó ọgbọ̀n.
Samuel took Saul and his servant and brought them into the guest room, and made them sit in the best place among those who were invited, who were about thirty persons.
23 Samuẹli sọ fún alásè pé, “Mú ìpín ẹran tí mo fún ọ wá, èyí tí mo sọ fún ọ pé kí o yà sọ́tọ̀.”
Samuel said to the cook, “Bring the portion which I gave you, of which I said to you, ‘Set it aside.’”
24 Alásè náà sì gbé ẹsẹ̀ náà pẹ̀lú ohun tí ó wà lórí i rẹ̀, ó sì gbé e síwájú Saulu. Samuẹli wí pé, “Èyí ni ohun tí a fi pamọ́ fún ọ. Jẹ, nítorí a yà á sọ́tọ̀ fún ọ, fún ìdí yìí, láti ìgbà tí mo ti wí pé, ‘Mo ní àlejò tí a pè.’” Saulu sì jẹun pẹ̀lú Samuẹli ní ọjọ́ náà.
The cook took up the thigh, and that which was on it, and set it before Saul. Samuel said, “Behold, that which has been reserved! Set it before yourself and eat; because it has been kept for you for the appointed time, for I said, ‘I have invited the people.’” So Saul ate with Samuel that day.
25 Lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí wọn ti sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti ibí gíga náà wá sí inú ìlú, Samuẹli sì bá Saulu sọ̀rọ̀ lórí òrùlé ilé e rẹ̀.
When they had come down from the high place into the city, he talked with Saul on the housetop.
26 Wọ́n sì dìde ní àfẹ̀mọ́júmọ́, ó pe Saulu sórí òrùlé pé, “Múra, èmi yóò rán ọ lọ.” Nígbà tí Saulu múra tán òun àti Samuẹli jọ jáde lọ síta.
They arose early; and about daybreak, Samuel called to Saul on the housetop, saying, “Get up, that I may send you away.” Saul arose, and they both went outside, he and Samuel, together.
27 Bí wọ́n ti ń sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ sí ìpẹ̀kun ìlú náà, Samuẹli wí fún Saulu pé, “Sọ fún ìránṣẹ́ náà kí ó máa lọ ṣáájú u wa,” ìránṣẹ́ náà sì ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀, “Ṣùgbọ́n kí ìwọ kí ó dúró díẹ̀, kí èmi kí ó lè sọ ọrọ̀ láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run fún ọ.”
As they were going down at the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, “Tell the servant to go on ahead of us.” He went ahead, then Samuel said, “But stand still first, that I may cause you to hear God’s message.”
