< 1 Samuel 6 >

1 Nígbà tí àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa sì ti wà ní agbègbè Filistini fún oṣù méje,
The LORD’s ark was in the country of the Philistines seven months.
2 àwọn ará Filistini pe àwọn àlùfáà, àti àwọn alásọtẹ́lẹ̀, wọ́n sì sọ pé, “Kí ni kí a ṣe pẹ̀lú àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa? Sọ fún wa bí àwa yóò ti dá a padà sí ààyè rẹ̀.”
The Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, “What shall we do with the LORD’s ark? Show us how we should send it to its place.”
3 Wọ́n dáhùn wí pé, “Tí ẹ bá dá àpótí ẹ̀rí Ọlọ́run ti àwọn ọmọ Israẹli padà, ẹ má ṣe dá a padà ní òfìfo, ṣùgbọ́n bí ó ti wù kí ó rí, ẹ fún un ní ẹbọ ẹ̀bi. Nígbà náà ni a ó mú un yín láradá, ẹ̀yin yóò sì mọ ìdí tí ọwọ́ rẹ̀ kò fi tí ì kúrò lára yín.”
They said, “If you send away the ark of the God of Israel, don’t send it empty; but by all means return a trespass offering to him. Then you will be healed, and it will be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.”
4 Àwọn ará Filistini béèrè pé, “Irú ẹbọ ẹ̀bi wo ni kí a fi fún un?” Wọ́n dáhùn, “Wúrà oníkókó márùn-ún àti eku ẹ̀lírí wúrà márùn-ún, gẹ́gẹ́ bí iye àwọn aláṣẹ Filistini, nítorí àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn kan náà ni ó kọlù yín àti olórí yín.
Then they said, “What should the trespass offering be which we shall return to him?” They said, “Five golden tumours and five golden mice, for the number of the lords of the Philistines; for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.
5 Mọ àwòrán ààrùn oníkókó àti ti eku ẹ̀lírí yin tí ó ń ba orílẹ̀-èdè náà jẹ́ kí o sì bu ọlá fún Ọlọ́run Israẹli. Bóyá yóò gbé ọwọ́ rẹ̀ kúrò lára yín, lára ọlọ́run yín àti lára ilẹ̀ yín.
Therefore you shall make images of your tumours and images of your mice that mar the land; and you shall give glory to the God of Israel. Perhaps he will release his hand from you, from your gods, and from your land.
6 Kí ni ó dé tí ẹ fi ń sé ọkàn yín le gẹ́gẹ́ bí àwọn ará Ejibiti àti Farao ti ṣe? Nígbà tí ó fi ọwọ́ líle mú wọn, ṣé wọn kò rán àwọn ọmọ Israẹli jáde kí wọn kí ó lè lọ ní ọ̀nà wọn?
Why then do you harden your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? When he had worked wonderfully amongst them, didn’t they let the people go, and they departed?
7 “Nísinsin yìí ẹ pèsè kẹ̀kẹ́ ẹrù tuntun sílẹ̀, pẹ̀lú màlúù méjì tí ó ti fi ọmú fún ọmọ, èyí tí a kò tí ì gba àjàgà sí ọrùn rí, kí ẹ sì so ó mọ́ kẹ̀kẹ́ náà, kí ẹ sì mú ọmọ wọn kúrò lọ́dọ̀ wọn wá sí ilé láti so.
“Now therefore take and prepare yourselves a new cart and two milk cows on which there has come no yoke; and tie the cows to the cart, and bring their calves home from them;

Behold, if it goes up by the way of its own border to Beth Shemesh, then he has done us this great evil; but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that struck us. It was a chance that happened to us.”
10 Nígbà náà ni wọ́n ṣe èyí. Wọ́n mú abo màlúù méjì, tí ń fi ọmú fún ọmọ, wọn mọ́ ara, wọ́n sì dè é ni ilé kẹ̀kẹ́ ẹrù, wọn sì so àwọn ọmọ wọn mọ́lẹ̀ ni ilé.
The men did so, and took two milk cows and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home.

The cows took the straight way by the way to Beth Shemesh. They went along the highway, lowing as they went, and didn’t turn away to the right hand or to the left; and the lords of the Philistines went after them to the border of Beth Shemesh.
13 Nísinsin yìí, àwọn ará Beti-Ṣemeṣi ń kórè jéró wọn ní pẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀, nígbà tí wọ́n wo òkè tí wọ́n sì rí àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa, wọ́n yọ̀ níwájú rẹ̀.
The people of Beth Shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley; and they lifted up their eyes and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it.

The cart came into the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh, and stood there, where there was a great stone. Then they split the wood of the cart and offered up the cows for a burnt offering to the LORD.

The Levites took down the LORD’s ark and the box that was with it, in which the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone; and the men of Beth Shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day to the LORD.
16 Àwọn aláṣẹ Filistini márààrún rí gbogbo èyí, wọ́n sì padà ní ọjọ́ náà sí Ekroni.
When the five lords of the Philistines had seen it, they returned to Ekron the same day.

He struck of the men of Beth Shemesh, because they had looked into the LORD’s ark, he struck fifty thousand and seventy of the men. Then the people mourned, because the LORD had struck the people with a great slaughter.
20 Àwọn ọkùnrin ará Beti-Ṣemeṣi béèrè pé, “Ta ni ó le è dúró ní iwájú Olúwa Ọlọ́run mímọ́ yìí? Ọ̀dọ̀ ta ni àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa yóò gbà gòkè lọ láti ibí yìí?”
The men of Beth Shemesh said, “Who is able to stand before the LORD, this holy God? To whom shall he go up from us?”
21 Nígbà náà, wọ́n rán àwọn ìránṣẹ́ sí àwọn ènìyàn tí Kiriati-Jearimu wí pé, “Àwọn Filistini ti dá àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa padà. Ẹ sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá, kí ẹ gbé e gòkè lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ yín.”
They sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kiriath Jearim, saying, “The Philistines have brought back the LORD’s ark. Come down and bring it up to yourselves.”
