< 1 Samuel 29 >
1 Àwọn Filistini sì kó gbogbo ogun wọn jọ sí Afeki: Israẹli sì dó ni ibi ìsun omi tí ó wà ní Jesreeli.
Then all the troops of the Philistines were gathered together at Aphek. But Israel also made camp, above the spring which is in Jezreel.
2 Àwọn ìjòyè Filistini sì kọjá ní ọ̀rọ̀ọ̀rún àti lẹgbẹẹgbẹ̀rún; Dafidi àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú Akiṣi sì kẹ́yìn.
And indeed, the princes of the Philistines advanced by hundreds and by thousands; but David and his men were in the rear with Achish.
3 Àwọn ìjòyè Filistini sì béèrè wí pé, “Kín ni àwọn Heberu ń ṣe níhìn-ín yìí?” Akiṣi sì wí fún àwọn ìjòyè Filistini pé “Dafidi kọ yìí, ìránṣẹ́ Saulu ọba Israẹli, tí ó wà lọ́dọ̀ mi láti ọjọ́ wọ̀nyí tàbí láti ọdún wọ̀nyí, èmi kò ì tì í rí àṣìṣe kan ni ọwọ́ rẹ̀ láti ọjọ́ tí ó ti dé ọ̀dọ̀ mi títí di òní yìí.”
And the leaders of the Philistines said to Achish, “What do these Hebrews intend to do?” And Achish said to the leaders of the Philistines: “Could you be ignorant about David, who was the servant of Saul, the king of Israel, and who has been with me for many days, even years, and I have not found within him anything, from the day that he fled to me, even to this day?”
4 Àwọn ìjòyè Filistini sì bínú sí i; àwọn ìjòyè Filistini sì wí fún un pé, “Jẹ́ kí ọkùnrin yìí padà kí ó sì lọ sí ipò rẹ̀ tí ó fi fún un, kí ó má sì jẹ́ kí ó bá wa sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ sí ogun, kí ó má ba à jásí ọ̀tá fún wa ni ogun, kín ni òun ó fi ba olúwa rẹ̀ làjà, orí àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí kọ́?
Then the leaders of the Philistines became angry against him, and they said to him: “Let this man return, and let him settle in his place, which you appointed for him. But let him not descend with us to battle, lest he become an adversary to us when we begin to fight. For in what other way will he be able to please his lord, except with our heads?
5 Ṣé èyí ni Dafidi tiwọn torí rẹ̀ gberin ara wọn nínú ijó wí pé, “‘Saulu pa ẹgbẹ̀rún rẹ̀, Dafidi si pa ẹgbẹgbàarùn-ún tirẹ̀.’”
Is not this the David, about whom they were singing, while dancing, saying: ‘Saul struck down his thousands, but David his ten thousands?’”
6 Akiṣi sì pe Dafidi, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Bí Olúwa ti ń bẹ láààyè, ìwọ jẹ́ olóòótọ́ àti ẹni ìwà rere lójú mi, ní àlọ rẹ àti ààbọ̀ rẹ pẹ̀lú mi ní ogun: nítorí pé èmi ko tí ì ri búburú kan lọ́wọ́ rẹ́ láti ọjọ́ ti ìwọ ti tọ̀ mí wá, títí o fi dì òní yìí ṣùgbọ́n lójú àwọn ìjòyè, ìwọ kò ṣe ẹni tí ó tọ́.
Therefore, Achish called David, and he said to him: “As the Lord lives, you are good and righteous in my sight, even in your departure and your return with me in the military camp. And I have not found anything evil in you, from the day that you came to me, even to this day. But you are not pleasing to the princes.
7 Ǹjẹ́ yípadà kí o sì máa lọ ní àlàáfíà, kí ìwọ má ṣe bà àwọn Filistini nínú jẹ́.”
Therefore, return, and go in peace, so that you do not offend the eyes of the princes of the Philistines.”
8 Dafidi sì wí fún Akiṣi pé, “Kín ni èmi ṣe? Kín ni ìwọ sì rí lọ́wọ́ ìránṣẹ́ rẹ láti ọjọ́ ti èmi ti ń gbé níwájú rẹ títí di òní yìí, tí èmi kì yóò fi lọ bá àwọn ọ̀tá ọba jà.”
And David said to Achish, “But what have I done, or what have you found in me, your servant, from the day that I was in your sight to this day, so that I may not go out and fight against the enemies of my lord, the king?”
9 Akiṣi sì dáhùn, ó sì wí fún Dafidi pé, “Èmi mọ̀ pé ìwọ ṣe ẹni rere lójú mi, bi angẹli Ọlọ́run; ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ìjòyè Filistini wí pé, ‘Òun kì yóò bá wa lọ sí ogun.’
And in response, Achish said to David: “I know that you are good in my sight, like an angel of God. But the leaders of the Philistines have said: ‘He shall not go up with us to the battle.’
10 Ǹjẹ́, nísinsin yìí dìde ní òwúrọ̀ pẹ̀lú àwọn ìránṣẹ́ olúwa rẹ tí ó bá ọ wá, ki ẹ si dìde ní òwúrọ̀ nígbà tí ilẹ̀ bá mọ́ kí ẹ sì máa lọ.”
And so, rise up in the morning, you and the servants of your lord who came with you. And when you have risen up in the night, as it begins to be light, go forth.”
11 Dafidi àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ sì dìde ní òwúrọ̀ láti padà lọ sí ilẹ̀ àwọn Filistini. Àwọn Filistini sì gòkè lọ sí Jesreeli.
And so David rose up in the night, he and his men, so that they might set out in the morning. And they returned to the land of the Philistines. But the Philistines ascended to Jezreel.
