< 1 Samuel 14 >

1 Ní ọjọ́ kan, Jonatani ọmọ Saulu wí fún ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin tí ó ń ru ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ pé, “Wá, jẹ́ kí a rékọjá lọ sí ìlú olódi àwọn Filistini tí ó wà ní ìhà kejì.” Ṣùgbọ́n kò sọ fún baba rẹ̀.
Now it happened one day that Jonathan, the son of Saul, said to the young man who carried his armor, "Come, let's go over to the Philistine garrison on the other side." But he did not tell his father.
2 Saulu sì dúró ní ìhà etí ìpínlẹ̀ Gibeah lábẹ́ igi pomegiranate èyí tí ó wà ní Migroni. Àwọn ẹgbẹ̀ta ọkùnrin sì wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀,
Now Saul stayed in the outskirts of Gibeah under the pomegranate tree by the threshing floor, and the people who were with him were about six hundred men.
3 lára wọn ni Ahijah, tí ó wọ efodu. Òun ni ọmọ arákùnrin Ikabodu Ahitubu, ọmọ Finehasi, ọmọ Eli, àlùfáà Olúwa ní Ṣilo kò sí ẹni tí ó mọ̀ pé Jonatani ti lọ.
Now Ahijah was wearing an ephod. He was the son of Ahitub, the brother of Ichabod, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the priest of the LORD in Shiloh. And the people did not know that Jonathan was gone.
4 Ní ọ̀nà tí Jonatani ti ń fẹ́ láti kọjá dé ìlú olódi àwọn Filistini, ní bèbè òkúta mímú kan wá, orúkọ èkínní sì ń jẹ́ Bosesi, orúkọ èkejì sì ń jẹ́ Sene.
Now on each side of the pass through which Jonathan intended to cross to the Philistine garrison there was a steep cliff on one side and a steep cliff on the other side. And the name of the one was Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.
5 Bèbè òkúta kan dúró sí àríwá ní ìhà Mikmasi, èkejì sì wà ní gúúsù ní ìhà Gibeah.
The one cliff was to north in front of Michmash, and the other on the south in front of Geba.
6 Jonatani sì wí fún ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin tí ó ń ru ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ pé, “Wá, jẹ́ kí a lọ sí ìlú olódi àwọn aláìkọlà yìí. Bóyá Olúwa yóò jà fún wa, kò sí ohun tó lè di Olúwa lọ́wọ́ láti gbàlà, yálà nípasẹ̀ púpọ̀ tàbí nípasẹ̀ díẹ̀.”
Then Jonathan said to the young man who carried his armor, "Come, let's go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be that the LORD will work for us, for nothing can prevent the LORD from saving by many or by a few."
7 Ẹni tí ó ru ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ sì wí pé, “Ṣe gbogbo ohun tí ó wà ní ọkàn rẹ, tẹ̀síwájú, Èmi wà pẹ̀lú ọkàn àti ẹ̀mí rẹ.”
His armor bearer said to him, "Do all that your heart inclines toward. Look, I am with you, my heart is as your heart."
8 Jonatani sì wí pé, “Wá nígbà náà, àwa yóò rékọjá sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọkùnrin wọ̀nyí, kí a sì jẹ́ kí wọ́n rí wa.
Then Jonathan said, "Look, we will pass over to the men, and we will reveal ourselves to them.
9 Bí wọ́n bá sọ fún wa pé, ‘Ẹ dúró títí àwa yóò fi tọ̀ yín wá,’ àwa yóò dúró sí ibi tí a wà, àwa kì yóò sì gòkè tọ̀ wọ́n lọ.
If they say thus to us, 'Wait until we come to you,' then we will stop where we are, and will not go up to them.
10 Ṣùgbọ́n bí wọ́n bá wí pé, ‘Ẹ gòkè tọ̀ wá wá,’ àwa yóò gòkè lọ, nítorí èyí ni yóò jẹ́ àmì fún wa pé Olúwa ti fi wọ́n lé wa lọ́wọ́.”
But if they say this, 'Come up to us,' then we will go up; for the LORD has delivered them into our hand. This shall be the sign to us."
11 Báyìí ní àwọn méjèèjì sì fi ara wọn hàn fún ìlú olódi Filistini. Àwọn Filistini sì wí pé, “Wò ó! Àwọn Heberu ń yọ jáde wá láti inú ihò tí wọ́n fi ara wọn pamọ́ sí.”
Both of them revealed themselves to the garrison of the Philistines: and the Philistines said, "Look, the Hebrews are coming out of the holes where they had hidden themselves."
12 Àwọn ọkùnrin ìlú olódi náà sì kígbe sí Jonatani àti ẹni tí ó ru ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ pé, “Ẹ gòkè tọ̀ wá wá àwa yóò sì kọ́ ọ yín ní ẹ̀kọ́.” Jonatani sì wí fún ẹni tí ó ru ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ pé, “Gòkè tọ̀ mí lẹ́yìn; Olúwa ti fi wọ́n lé Israẹli lọ́wọ́.”
The men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armor bearer, and said, "Come up to us, and we will show you something." Jonathan said to his armor bearer, "Come up after me; for the LORD has delivered them into the hand of Israel."
13 Jonatani lo ọwọ́ àti ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀ láti fà gòkè pẹ̀lú ẹni tí ó ru ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ ní ọwọ́ ọ̀tún ní ẹ̀gbẹ́ rẹ̀. Àwọn Filistini sì ṣubú níwájú Jonatani ẹni tí ó ru ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ sì tẹ̀lé e, ó sì ń pa lẹ́gbẹ̀ẹ́ rẹ̀.
Jonathan climbed up on his hands and on his feet, and his armor bearer after him. And they fell before Jonathan; and his armor bearer killed them after him.
14 Ní ìkọlù èkínní yìí, Jonatani àti ẹni tí ó ru ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ sì pa ogún ọkùnrin ní agbègbè tó tó ìwọ̀n ààbọ̀ sáré ilẹ̀.
That first slaughter which Jonathan and his armor bearer made was about twenty men, with arrows and with weapons from flints of the field.
15 Nígbà náà ni ìbẹ̀rùbojo bá àwọn ọmọ-ogun; àwọn tí ó wà ní ibùdó àti ní pápá, àti àwọn tí ó wà ní ilé ìlú olódi àti àwọn tí ń kó ìkógun, ilẹ̀ sì mì. Ó jẹ́ ìbẹ̀rù tí ó ti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run wá.
And there was a terror in the camp, and in the field, and among all the people. The garrison and even the raiders were terrified. And the earth quaked, and it became a terror of God.
16 Àwọn tí ó ń ṣọ́nà fún Saulu ní Gibeah ti Benjamini sì rí àwọn ọmọ-ogun ń túká ní gbogbo ọ̀nà.
And the watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin saw, and look, the multitude was scattering here and there.
17 Nígbà náà ni Saulu wí fún àwọn ènìyàn tí ó wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ pé, “Ẹ ka àwọn ènìyàn kí ẹ sì mọ ẹni tí ó jáde kúrò nínú wa.” Nígbà tí wọ́n sì ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀, sì wò ó, Jonatani àti ẹni tí ó ru ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ ni kò sì sí níbẹ̀.
Then Saul said to the people who were with him, "Count now, and see who is missing from us." When they had counted, look, Jonathan and his armor bearer were not there.
18 Saulu sì wí fún Ahijah pé, “Gbé àpótí Ọlọ́run wá.” Àpótí Ọlọ́run wà pẹ̀lú àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ní ìgbà náà.
And Saul said to Ahijah, "Bring near the ephod," for he wore the ephod at that time before Israel.
19 Nígbà tí Saulu sì ń bá àlùfáà sọ̀rọ̀, ariwo ní ibùdó àwọn Filistini sì ń pọ̀ síwájú sí. Saulu sì wí fún àlùfáà pé, “Dá ọwọ́ rẹ dúró.”
And it happened, while Saul was speaking to the priest, that the tumult that was in the camp of the Philistines went on and increased: and Saul said to the priest, "Withdraw your hand."
20 Saulu àti gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ sì péjọ, wọ́n sì lọ sí ojú ìjà. Wọ́n sì bá gbogbo àwọn Filistini ní ìdàrúdàpọ̀ ńlá, idà olúkúlùkù sì wà lára ọmọ ẹnìkejì rẹ̀.
Saul and all the people who were with him were gathered together, and came to the battle: and look, every man's sword was against his fellow: a very great confusion.
21 Àwọn Heberu tí ó ti wà lọ́dọ̀ àwọn Filistini tẹ́lẹ̀, tí wọ́n sì ti gòkè tẹ̀lé wọn lọ sí àgọ́ wọn wá sọ́dọ̀ àwọn ọmọ Israẹli tí wọ́n ti wà pẹ̀lú Saulu àti Jonatani.
Now the Hebrews who were with the Philistines previously when they went up with them to the camp, they too turned to be with the Israelites who were with Saul and Jonathan.
22 Nígbà tí gbogbo àwọn Israẹli tí ó ti pa ara wọn mọ́ nínú òkè ńlá Efraimu gbọ́ pé àwọn Filistini sá, wọ́n darapọ̀ mọ́ ìjà náà ní ìlépa gbígbóná.
Likewise all the men of Israel who had hidden themselves in the hill country of Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed closely after them in the battle.
23 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Olúwa sì gba Israẹli ní ọjọ́ náà, ìjà náà sì rékọjá sí Beti-Afeni.
So the LORD saved Israel that day, and the battle passed over by Beth Aven. And all the people with Saul were about ten thousand men. And the battle extended itself into every city in the hill country of Ephraim.
24 Gbogbo ọkùnrin Israẹli sì wà ní ìpọ́njú ńlá ní ọjọ́ náà, nítorí pé Saulu ti fi àwọn ènìyàn gégùn ún wí pé, “Ègbé ni fún ẹni tí ó jẹ oúnjẹ títí di alẹ́, títí èmi yóò fi gbẹ̀san mi lára àwọn ọ̀tá mi!” Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kò sí ẹnìkankan nínú ọ̀wọ́ ogun náà tí ó fi ẹnu kan oúnjẹ.
And Saul committed a great blunder that day, for he had placed the people under an oath, saying, "Cursed is the man who eats any food until it is evening, and I am avenged of my enemies." So none of the people tasted food.
25 Gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn sì wọ inú igbó, oyin sì wà lórí ilẹ̀ náà.
Now all the people came upon a honeycomb, and there was honey on the ground.
26 Nígbà tí wọ́n dé inú igbó náà, wọ́n sì rí oyin ń sun jáde, kò sí ẹni tí ó fi ọwọ́ rẹ̀ kan ẹnu rẹ̀ síbẹ̀, nítorí pé wọ́n bẹ̀rù ìfiré.
And when the people came upon the honeycomb, look, its bees had left, but no man would raise his hand to his mouth, for the people feared the oath.
27 Ṣùgbọ́n Jonatani kò gbọ́ pé baba rẹ̀ ti fi ìfibú kìlọ̀ fún àwọn ènìyàn náà, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó sì tẹ orí ọ̀pá tí ń bẹ ní ọwọ́ rẹ̀ bọ afárá oyin náà, ó sì fi sí ẹnu rẹ̀, ojú rẹ̀ sì dán.
But Jonathan did not hear when his father commanded the people with the oath, so he put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and dipped it in the honeycomb, and raised his hand to his mouth, and his eyes brightened.
28 Nígbà náà ni ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ọmọ-ogun sọ fún un pé, “Baba rẹ fi ìfibú kìlọ̀ fún àwọn ọmọ-ogun wí pé, ‘Ègbé ni fún ẹni tí ó jẹ oúnjẹ ní òní!’ Ìdí nìyìí tí àárẹ̀ fi mú àwọn ènìyàn.”
Then one of the people answered, and said, "Your father directly commanded the people with an oath, saying, 'Cursed is the man who eats food this day.'" The people were faint.
29 Jonatani sì wí pé, “Baba mi ti mú ìdààmú bá ìlú, wò ó bí ojú mi ti dán nígbà tí mo fi ẹnu kan oyin yìí.
Then Jonathan said, "My father has troubled the land. Please look how my eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.
30 Báwo ni kò bá ti dára tó bí àwọn ènìyàn bá ti jẹ nínú ìkógun àwọn ọ̀tá wọn lónìí, pípa àwọn Filistini ìbá ti pọ̀ tó?”
How much better if the people had eaten freely today of the spoil of their enemies when they found it, for the slaughter among the Philistines would have been greater."
31 Ní ọjọ́ náà, lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli ti pa nínú àwọn Filistini láti Mikmasi dé Aijaloni, ó sì rẹ àwọn ènìyàn náà.
They struck of the Philistines that day from Michmash to Aijalon. The people were very faint;
32 Wọ́n sáré sí ìkógun náà, wọ́n sì mú àgùntàn. Màlúù àti ọmọ màlúù, wọ́n pa wọ́n sórí ilẹ̀, wọ́n sì jẹ wọ́n papọ̀ tẹ̀jẹ́tẹ̀jẹ̀.
and the people pounced upon the spoil, and took sheep, and cattle, and calves, and killed them on the ground; and the people ate them with the blood.
33 Nígbà náà ni ẹnìkan sì wí fún Saulu pé, “Wò ó, àwọn ènìyàn tí ń dẹ́ṣẹ̀ sí Olúwa nípa jíjẹ ẹran tí ó ní ẹ̀jẹ̀ lára.” Ó sì wí pé, “Ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ yín ti pọ̀jù, yí òkúta ńlá sí ibi nísinsin yìí.”
Then they told Saul, saying, "Look, the people are sinning against the LORD, in that they eat meat with the blood." He said, "You have dealt treacherously. Roll a large stone to me this day."
34 Nígbà náà ni ó wí pé, “Ẹ jáde lọ sáàrín àwọn ènìyàn náà kí ẹ sì wí fún wọn pé, ‘Kí olúkúlùkù wọn mú màlúù àti àgùntàn tirẹ̀ tọ̀ mí wá, kí wọ́n sì pa wọ́n níhìn-ín, kí wọ́n sì jẹ́. Ẹ má ṣe ṣẹ̀ sí Olúwa, kí ẹ má ṣe jẹ ẹran tòun-tẹ̀jẹ̀.’” Bẹ́ẹ̀ ní olúkúlùkù mú màlúù tirẹ̀ wá ní alẹ́ ọjọ́ náà, wọ́n sì pa wọ́n níbẹ̀.
And Saul said, "Disperse yourselves among the people, and say to them, 'Each one of you bring to me his ox or his sheep, and slaughter them here and eat, and do not sin against the LORD by eating with the blood.'" So everyone of the people brought whatever he had at hand with him, and slaughtered it there.
35 Nígbà náà Saulu kọ́ pẹpẹ kan fún Olúwa; èyí sì jẹ́ ìgbà àkọ́kọ́ tí ó kọ́kọ́ ṣe èyí.
Saul built an altar to the LORD. This was the first altar that he built to the LORD.
36 Saulu sì wí pé, “Ẹ jẹ́ kí a sọ̀kalẹ̀ tọ Filistini lọ ní òru, kí a bá wọn jà títí di ìmọ́lẹ̀ òwúrọ̀, kí a má ṣì ṣe dá ẹnìkankan sí nínú wọn.” Wọ́n sì wí pé, “Ṣe ohun tí ó bá dára ní ojú rẹ̀.” Ṣùgbọ́n àlùfáà wí pé, “Ẹ jẹ́ kí a ṣe ìwádìí lọ́wọ́ Ọlọ́run níhìn-ín.”
Saul said, "Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and take spoil among them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them." They said, "Do whatever seems good to you." Then the priest said, "Let us draw near here to God."
37 Nígbà náà ni Saulu béèrè lọ́dọ̀ Ọlọ́run pé, “Ṣé kí n sọ̀kalẹ̀ tọ àwọn Filistini lọ bí? Ǹjẹ́ ìwọ yóò fi wọ́n lé Israẹli lọ́wọ́ bí?” Ṣùgbọ́n Ọlọ́run kò dá a lóhùn ní ọjọ́ náà.
Saul asked counsel of God, "Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will you deliver them into the hand of Israel?" But he did not answer him that day.
38 Saulu sì wí pé, “Ẹ wá síyìn-ín ín, gbogbo ẹ̀yin tí ẹ jẹ́ olórí ogun, kí a ṣe ìwádìí irú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ tí ẹ ti ṣẹ̀ lónìí.
And Saul said, "Come here, all you leaders of the people; and investigate and see how this sin has arisen today.
39 Bí Olúwa tí ó gba Israẹli là ti wà, bí ó bá ṣe pé a rí í lára Jonatani ọmọ mi, ó ní láti kú.” Ṣùgbọ́n ẹnìkankan nínú wọn kò sọ ọ̀rọ̀ kan.
For, as the LORD lives, who saves Israel, though it is in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die." But there was not a man among all the people who answered him.
40 Nígbà náà ni Saulu wí fún gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Israẹli pé, “Ẹ lọ sí apá kan; èmi àti Jonatani ọmọ mi yóò lọ sí apá kan.” Gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn sì dáhùn pé, “Ṣe èyí tí ó tọ́ ní ojú rẹ.”
Then he said to all Israel, "You be on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side." The people said to Saul, "Do what seems good to you."
41 Nígbà náà ni Saulu gbàdúrà sí Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli pé, “Fún mi ní ìdáhùn tí ó tọ́.” A sì mú Jonatani àti Saulu nípa ìbò dídì, àwọn ènìyàn náà sì yege.
Therefore Saul said, "LORD, God of Israel, why have you not answered your servant this day? If this sin is mine or in Jonathan my son, LORD, God of Israel, give Urim. But if this sin is in your people Israel, give Thummim." And Jonathan and Saul were chosen, but the people were cleared.
42 Saulu sì wí pé, “Ẹ dìbò láàrín èmi àti Jonatani ọmọ mi.” Ìbò náà sì mú Jonatani.
And Saul said, "Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son. Whomever the LORD shall indicate to be taken by lot, let him die." And the people said to Saul, "This thing is not to be." And Saul prevailed over the people, and they cast lots between him and Jonathan his son. And Jonathan was selected.
43 Saulu sì wí fún Jonatani pé, “Sọ nǹkan tí ìwọ ṣe fún mi.” Jonatani sì sọ fún un pé, “Mo kàn fi orí ọ̀pá mi tọ́ oyin díẹ̀ wò. Nísinsin yìí ṣé mo ní láti kú?”
Then Saul said to Jonathan, "Tell me what you have done." And Jonathan told him, and said, "I certainly did taste a little honey with the end of the staff that was in my hand; and look, I must die."
44 Saulu sì wí pé, “Kí Ọlọ́run kí ó ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ àti jù bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ sí mi, nítorí pé ìwọ Jonatani yóò sá à kú dandan.”
And Saul said, "God do the same to me and more also if you are not put to death this day."
45 Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ènìyàn wí fún Saulu pé, “Ǹjẹ́ ó yẹ kí Jonatani kú, ẹni tí ó ti mú ìgbàlà ńlá yìí wá fún Israẹli? Kí a má rí í! Bí Olúwa ti wà, ọ̀kan nínú irun orí rẹ̀ kì yóò bọ́ sílẹ̀, nítorí tí ó ṣe èyí pẹ̀lú ìrànlọ́wọ́.” Báyìí ni àwọn ènìyàn gba Jonatani sílẹ̀, kò sì kú.
The people said to Saul, "Shall he who has worked this great salvation in Israel die today? As the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he has worked with God this day." So the people rescued Jonathan, and he did not die.
46 Nígbà náà ni Saulu sì dẹ́kun lílépa àwọn Filistini, àwọn Filistini sì padà sí ìlú wọn.
Then Saul went up from following the Philistines; and the Philistines went to their own place.
47 Lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí Saulu ti jẹ ọba lórí Israẹli, ó sì bá gbogbo ọ̀tá wọn jà yíká: Moabu àti àwọn ọmọ Ammoni; Edomu, àti àwọn ọba Soba, àti àwọn Filistini. Ibikíbi tí ó bá kọjú sí, ó máa ń fi ìyà jẹ wọ́n.
Now when Saul had taken the kingdom over Israel, he fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the people of Ammon, and against Edom, and against Beth Rehob, and against the king of Zobah, and against the Philistines; and wherever he turned, he was victorious.
48 Ó sì jà tagbára tagbára, ó ṣẹ́gun àwọn Amaleki, ó sì ń gba Israẹli sílẹ̀ lọ́wọ́ àwọn tí ó ń kọlù wọ́n.
And he did valiantly, and struck Amalek, and delivered Israel out of the hand of its plunderers.
49 Àwọn ọmọ Saulu sì ni Jonatani, Iṣifi àti Malikiṣua. Orúkọ ọmọbìnrin rẹ̀ àgbà sì ni Merabu àti orúkọ ọmọbìnrin rẹ̀ kékeré ni Mikali.
Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan, and Jishvi, and Malkishua; and the names of his two daughters were these: the name of the firstborn Merob, and the name of the younger Mikal:
50 Orúkọ ìyàwó rẹ̀ ní Ahinoamu ọmọbìnrin Ahimasi. Orúkọ olórí ogun rẹ̀ ni Abneri ọmọ Neri arákùnrin baba Saulu.
and the name of Saul's wife was Ahinoam the daughter of Ahimaaz. The name of the commander of his army was Abiner the son of Ner, Saul's uncle.
51 Kiṣi baba Saulu àti Neri baba Abneri wọ́n sì jẹ́ ọmọ Abieli.
Kish was the father of Saul; and Ner the father of Abner was the son of Abiel.
52 Ní gbogbo ọjọ́ Saulu, ogun náà sì gbóná sí àwọn Filistini, níbikíbi tí Saulu bá sì ti rí alágbára tàbí akíkanjú ọkùnrin, a sì mú u láti máa bá a ṣiṣẹ́.
There was severe war against the Philistines all the days of Saul: and when Saul saw any mighty man, or any valiant man, he took him to him.
