< 1 Peter 4 >
1 Ǹjẹ́ bí Kristi ti jìyà fún wa nípa ti ará, irú kan náà ni kí ẹ̀yin fi hámọ́ra; nítorí ẹni tí ó bá ti jìyà nípa ti ara, ó ti bọ́ lọ́wọ́ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀.
Therefore, since Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same mentality, because whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
2 Kí ẹ̀yin má ṣe fi ìgbà ayé yín ìyókù wà nínú ara mọ́ sí ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀ẹ́ ènìyàn bí kò ṣe sí ìfẹ́ Ọlọ́run.
so as to live his remaining time in the flesh no longer for the evil desires of men, but for the will of God.
3 Nítorí ìgbà tí ó ti kọjá ti tó fún ṣíṣe ìfẹ́ àwọn aláìkọlà, rínrìn nínú ìwà wọ̀bìà, ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀ẹ́, ọtí àmupara, ìréde òru, kíkó ẹ̀gbẹ́ ọ̀mùtí, àti ìbọ̀rìṣà tí í ṣe ohun ìríra.
For we have spent enough of our lives doing what the Gentiles like to do, walking in sensual indulgences, evil desires, excesses of wine, revelries, drinking bouts, and illicit idolatries.
4 Èyí tí ó yà wọ́n lẹ́nu pé ẹ̀yin kò ba wọn súré sínú irú àṣejù ìwà wọ̀bìà wọ́n, tí wọ́n sì ń sọ̀rọ̀ yín ní búburú.
They are surprised when you do not run with them into the same flood of debauchery, so they revile you.
5 Àwọn ẹni tí yóò jíyìn fún ẹni tí ó ti múra láti ṣe ìdájọ́ alààyè àti òkú.
But they will give an account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
6 Nítorí èyí ní a sá ṣe wàásù ìyìnrere fún àwọn òkú, kí a lè ṣe ìdájọ́ wọn gẹ́gẹ́ bí ènìyàn nípa ti ara, ṣùgbọ́n kí wọ́n lè wà láààyè si Ọlọ́run nípa tí Ẹ̀mí.
For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to the dead, so that, though they have been judged in the flesh as men are, they might live in the spirit as God does.
7 Ṣùgbọ́n òpin ohun gbogbo kù sí dẹ̀dẹ̀; nítorí náà kí ẹ̀yin wà ní àìrékọjá, kí ẹ sì máa ṣọ́ra nínú àdúrà.
The end of all things has drawn near. Therefore be alert and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.
8 Ju gbogbo rẹ̀ lọ, ẹ ní ìfẹ́ tí ó gbóná láàrín ara yín, nítorí ìfẹ́ ni ń bo ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ mọ́lẹ̀.
Above all, maintain a deep love for one another, because love will cover a multitude of sins.
9 Ẹ máa ṣe ara yín ni àlejò láìsí ìkùnsínú.
Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.
10 Bí olúkúlùkù ti rí ẹ̀bùn gbà, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kí ẹ máa ṣe ìpín fún ni rẹ̀ láàrín ara yín, bí ìríjú rere tí onírúurú oore-ọ̀fẹ́ Ọlọ́run.
As each of you has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 Bí ẹnikẹ́ni ba ń sọ̀rọ̀, kí o máa sọ bí ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run, bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá ń ṣe iṣẹ́ ìránṣẹ́, kí ó ṣe é bí agbára tí Ọlọ́run fi fún un, kí a lè máa yin Ọlọ́run lógo ní ohun gbogbo nípa Jesu Kristi, ẹni tí ògo àti ìjọba wà fún láé àti láéláé. Àmín. (aiōn )
If anyone speaks, he should do so as one who speaks the oracles of God; if anyone serves, he should do so as one who serves from strength as God supplies it, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. (aiōn )
12 Olùfẹ́, ẹ má ṣe ka ìdánwò gbígbóná ti ń bẹ láàrín yín láti dán yín wò bi ẹni pé ohun àjèjì ni ó dé bá yín.
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial that has come upon you to test you, as though a strange thing were happening to you.
13 Ṣùgbọ́n níwọ̀n bí ẹ̀yin tí jẹ́ alábápín ìyà Kristi, ẹ máa yọ̀, kí ẹ̀yin lè yọ ayọ̀ púpọ̀ nígbà tí a bá fi ògo rẹ̀ hàn.
But insofar as you share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, so that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
14 Bí a bá gàn yín nítorí orúkọ Kristi, ẹni ìbùkún ni yín: nítorí Ẹ̀mí Ògo àti ti Ọlọ́run bà lé yín.
If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.
15 Ṣùgbọ́n ẹ má jẹ́ kí ẹnikẹ́ni nínú yín jìyà bí apànìyàn, tàbí bí olè, tàbí bí olùṣe búburú, tàbí bí ẹni tí ń tojú bọ̀ ọ̀ràn ẹlòmíràn.
None of you should suffer as a murderer, thief, evildoer, or meddler,
16 Ṣùgbọ́n bí ó bá jìyà bí Kristiani kí ojú má ṣe tì í, ṣùgbọ́n kí ó kúkú yin Ọlọ́run lógo nítorí ti o orúkọ yìí.
but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he should not be ashamed, but should glorify God in this matter.
17 Nítorí ti ìgbà náà dé, tí ìdájọ́ yóò bẹ̀rẹ̀ láti ilé Ọlọ́run wá, bí ó bá sì tètè tí ọ̀dọ̀ wa bẹ̀rẹ̀, ìgbẹ̀yìn àwọn tí kò gba ìyìnrere Ọlọ́run yó ha ti rí?
For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God, and if it begins first with us, what will be the outcome for those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?
18 “Bí ó bá ṣe pé agbára káká ni a fi gba olódodo là, níbo ni aláìwà-bí-Ọlọ́run àti ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀ yóò yọjú sí?”
And, “If the righteous man is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly man and sinner?”
19 Nítorí náà, ẹ jẹ́ kí àwọn tí ń jìyà gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìfẹ́ Ọlọ́run ni ṣíṣe rere, fi ọkàn wọn lè Ẹlẹ́dàá olóòtítọ́ lọ́wọ́.
Therefore, those who suffer according to the will of God should entrust their souls to him as their faithful Creator while doing what is good.
