< 1 Kings 5 >

1 Nígbà tí Hiramu ọba Tire sì gbọ́ pé, a ti fi òróró yan Solomoni ní ọba ní ipò Dafidi baba rẹ̀, ó sì rán àwọn ikọ̀ rẹ̀ sí Solomoni, nítorí ó ti fẹ́ràn Dafidi ní ọjọ́ rẹ̀ gbogbo.
And Hiram the king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father; for Hiram had all the time been a lover of David.
2 Solomoni sì ránṣẹ́ yìí padà sí Hiramu pé,
And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,
3 “Ìwọ mọ̀ pé Dafidi baba mi kò le kọ́ ilé fún orúkọ Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ̀, nítorí ogun tí ó wà yí i káàkiri, títí Olúwa fi fi gbogbo àwọn ọ̀tá rẹ̀ sábẹ́ àtẹ́lẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀.
Thou well knowest of David my father, that he was not able to build a house unto the name of the Lord his God, on account of the war wherewith his enemies encompassed him, until the Lord had put them under the soles of his feet.
4 Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí Olúwa Ọlọ́run mi ti fún mi ní ìsinmi ní ibi gbogbo, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kò sì sí ọ̀tá tàbí ìjàǹbá kan tí ó ṣe.
But now hath the Lord my God given me rest on every side, there is neither adversary nor evil hinderance.
5 Nítorí náà mo gbèrò láti kọ́ ilé fún orúkọ Olúwa Ọlọ́run mi, bí Olúwa ti sọ fún Dafidi baba mi, nígbà tí ó wí pé, ‘Ọmọ rẹ tí èmi yóò gbé ka orí ìtẹ́ rẹ ní ipò rẹ ni yóò kọ́ ilé náà fún orúkọ mi.’
And, behold, I purpose to build a house unto the name of the Lord my God, as the Lord hath spoken unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will place in thy room upon thy throne, he it is that shall build the house unto my name.
6 “Nítorí náà ni kí o pàṣẹ pé kí wọn kí ó gé igi kedari Lebanoni fún mi wá. Àwọn ènìyàn mi yóò ṣiṣẹ́ pẹ̀lú tìrẹ, Èmi yóò sì san owó ọ̀yà tí ìwọ bá ránṣẹ́ fún àwọn ènìyàn rẹ. Ìwọ mọ̀ pé, a kò ní ẹnìkan nínú wa tí ó mọ bí a ti ń gé igi bí àwọn ará Sidoni.”
And now command thou that they hew me cedar-trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants; and the wages of thy servants will I give unto thee in accordance with all that thou wilt say; for thou well knowest that there is not among us a man that hath the skill to hew timber like unto the Zidonians.
7 Nígbà tí Hiramu sì gbọ́ iṣẹ́ Solomoni, inú rẹ̀ sì dùn gidigidi, ó sì wí pé, “Ògo ni fún Olúwa lónìí, nítorí tí ó ti fún Dafidi ní ọlọ́gbọ́n ọmọ láti ṣàkóso àwọn ìlú ńlá yìí.”
And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly; and he said, Blessed be the Lord this day, who hath given unto David a wise son over this numerous people.
8 Hiramu sì ránṣẹ́ sí Solomoni pé, “Èmi ti gbọ́ iṣẹ́ tí ìwọ rán sí mi, èmi yóò sì ṣe gbogbo èyí tí o fẹ́ ní pípèsè igi kedari àti ní ti igi firi.
And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have heard what thou hast sent to me for: I will gladly execute all thy desire in respect of timber of cedar, and in respect of timber of fir.
9 Àwọn ènìyàn mi yóò mú igi náà sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti Lebanoni wá sí Òkun, èmi ó sì fi wọ́n ránṣẹ́ sí ọ ní fífò lójú omi Òkun Ńlá títí dé ibi tí ìwọ ó na ìka sí fún mi. Níbẹ̀ ni èmi yóò ti yà wọ́n sọ́tọ̀, ìwọ yóò sì kó wọn lọ. Ìwọ yóò sì gba ìfẹ́ mi nípa pípèsè oúnjẹ fún ilé mi.”
My servants shall bring them down from the Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place of which thou wilt send me word, and I will cause them to be taken apart there, and thou shalt take them away; and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving the food for my household.
10 Báyìí ni Hiramu sì pèsè igi kedari àti igi firi tí Solomoni ń fẹ́ fún un,
So Hiram gave Solomon cedar-trees and fir-trees, all his desire.
11 Solomoni sì fún Hiramu ní ogún ẹgbẹ̀rún òsùwọ̀n ọkà oúnjẹ fún ilé rẹ̀, àti ogún òsùwọ̀n òróró dáradára. Solomoni sì ń tẹ̀síwájú láti ṣe èyí fún Hiramu lọ́dọọdún.
And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand kors of wheat as provision for his household, and twenty kors of beaten oil: thus did Solomon give to Hiram year by year.
12 Olúwa sì fún Solomoni ní ọgbọ́n, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ti ṣèlérí fún un. Ìrẹ́pọ̀ àlàáfíà sì wà láàrín Hiramu àti Solomoni, àwọn méjèèjì sì ṣe àdéhùn.
And the Lord gave wisdom unto Solomon, as he had spoken to him; and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they made a covenant with each other.
13 Solomoni ọba sì ṣa asìnrú ènìyàn jọ ní gbogbo Israẹli; àwọn tí ń sìnrú náà jẹ́ ẹgbàá mẹ́ẹ̀ẹ́dógún ènìyàn.
And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.
14 Ó sì rán wọn lọ sí Lebanoni, ẹgbẹ̀rún mẹ́wàá lóṣooṣù, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n lo oṣù kan ní Lebanoni, wọn a sì gbé ilé ní oṣù méjì. Adoniramu ni ó ṣe olórí àwọn asìnrú náà.
And he sent them into the Lebanon, ten thousand in each month by turns; one month they used to be in the Lebanon, two months at home: and Adoniram was over the levy.
15 Solomoni sì ní ẹgbẹ̀rún ní ọ̀nà àádọ́rin ènìyàn tí ń ru ẹrù àti ọ̀kẹ́ mẹ́rin gbẹ́nàgbẹ́nà lórí òkè,
And there belonged to Solomon seventy thousand bearers of burdens, and eighty thousand stone-cutters in the mountains;
16 àti àwọn ìjòyè nínú àwọn tí a fi ṣe olórí iṣẹ́ Solomoni jẹ́ ẹgbẹ̀rìndínlógún ó lé ọgọ́rùn-ún ènìyàn, tí ó ń ṣe aláṣẹ àwọn ènìyàn tí ń ṣiṣẹ́ náà.
Besides the chiefs who were appointed by Solomon over the work, three thousand and three hundred, who ruled over the people that wrought on the work.
17 Ọba sì pàṣẹ, wọ́n sì mú òkúta wá, òkúta iyebíye, àti òkúta gbígbẹ́ láti fi ìpìlẹ̀ ilé náà lé ilẹ̀.
And when the king commanded, they quarried out great stones, heavy stones, to lay the foundation of the house, and hewn stones.
18 Àwọn oníṣọ̀nà Solomoni àti Hiramu àti àwọn òṣìṣẹ́ láti Gebali sì gbẹ́ wọn, wọ́n sì pèsè igi àti òkúta láti fi kọ́ ilé náà.
And the builders of Solomon, and the builders of Hiram, and the Giblites hewed them; and so they prepared the wood and the stones to build the house.
