< 1 Kings 3 >
1 Solomoni sì bá Farao ọba Ejibiti dá àna, ó sì fẹ́ ọmọbìnrin rẹ̀ ní ìyàwó. Ó sì mú un wá sí ìlú Dafidi títí tí ó fi parí kíkọ́ ààfin rẹ̀ àti tẹmpili Olúwa, àti odi tí ó yí Jerusalẹmu ká.
And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.
2 Síbẹ̀síbẹ̀, àwọn ènìyàn ṣì ń rú ẹbọ ní ibi gíga, nítorí a kò tí ì kọ́ ilé fún orúkọ Olúwa títí di ìgbà náà
Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.
3 Solomoni sì fi ìfẹ́ rẹ̀ hàn sí Olúwa nípa rírìn gẹ́gẹ́ bí òfin Dafidi baba rẹ̀, àti pé, ó rú ẹbọ, ó sì fi tùràrí jóná ní ibi gíga.
And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.
4 Ọba sì lọ sí Gibeoni láti rú ẹbọ, nítorí ibẹ̀ ni ibi gíga tí ó ṣe pàtàkì jù, Solomoni sì rú ẹgbẹ̀rún ọrẹ ẹbọ sísun lórí pẹpẹ.
And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.
5 Ní Gibeoni, Olúwa fi ara han Solomoni lójú àlá ní òru, Ọlọ́run sì wí pé, “Béèrè fún ohunkóhun tí o bá ń fẹ́ kí èmi ó fi fún ọ.”
In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give you.
6 Solomoni sì dáhùn wí pé, “O ti fi inú rere oore ńlá hàn sí ìránṣẹ́ rẹ, Dafidi baba mi, nítorí ó jẹ́ olóòtítọ́ sí ọ àti olódodo àti ẹni tí ó ní ọkàn ìdúró ṣinṣin. Ìwọ sì tẹ̀síwájú nínú oore ńlá yìí fún un, ìwọ sì ti fún un ní ọmọkùnrin láti jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ rẹ ní gbogbo ọjọ́.
And Solomon said, You have showed unto your servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before you in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you; and you have kept for him this great kindness, that you have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
7 “Nísinsin yìí, Olúwa Ọlọ́run mi, o ti mú ìránṣẹ́ rẹ jẹ ọba ní ipò Dafidi baba mi. Ṣùgbọ́n ọmọ kékeré ni mí, èmi kò sì mọ jíjáde àti wíwọlé mi.
And now, O LORD my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
8 Ìránṣẹ́ rẹ nìyí láàrín àwọn ènìyàn tí o ti yàn, àwọn ènìyàn ńlá, wọ́n pọ̀ tó bẹ́ẹ̀ tí a kò sì lè kà wọ́n tàbí mọye wọn.
And your servant is in the midst of your people which you have chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
9 Nítorí náà fi ọkàn ìmòye fún ìránṣẹ́ rẹ láti le ṣàkóso àwọn ènìyàn rẹ àti láti mọ ìyàtọ̀ láàrín rere àti búburú. Nítorí ta ni ó lè ṣe àkóso àwọn ènìyàn ńlá rẹ yìí?”
Give therefore your servant an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this your so great a people?
10 Inú Olúwa sì dùn pé Solomoni béèrè nǹkan yìí.
And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing.
11 Nígbà náà ni Ọlọ́run wí fún un pé, “Nítorí tí ìwọ ti béèrè fún èyí, tí kì í ṣe ẹ̀mí gígùn tàbí ọrọ̀ fún ara rẹ, tàbí béèrè fún ikú àwọn ọ̀tá rẹ, ṣùgbọ́n fún òye láti mọ ẹjọ́ dá,
And God said unto him, Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life; neither have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies; but have asked for yourself understanding to discern judgment;
12 èmi yóò ṣe ohun tí ìwọ ti béèrè. Èmi yóò fún ọ ní ọgbọ́n àti ọkàn ìmòye, tó bẹ́ẹ̀ tí kò fi ní sí ẹnìkan tí ó dàbí rẹ ṣáájú rẹ, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ẹnìkan kì yóò dìde tí yóò dàbí rẹ lẹ́yìn rẹ.
Behold, I have done according to your words: lo, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like you before you, neither after you shall any arise like unto you.
13 Síwájú sí i, èmi yóò fi ohun tí ìwọ kò béèrè fún ọ: ọrọ̀ àti ọlá ní gbogbo ayé rẹ, tí kì yóò sí ẹnìkan nínú àwọn ọba tí yóò dàbí rẹ.
And I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto you all your days.
14 Àti bí ìwọ bá rìn ní ọ̀nà mi, tí o sì pa òfin àti àṣẹ mi mọ́ bí Dafidi baba rẹ ti ṣe, èmi yóò fún ọ ní ẹ̀mí gígùn.”
And if you will walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as your father David did walk, then I will lengthen your days.
15 Solomoni jí: ó sì mọ̀ pé àlá ni. Ó sì padà sí Jerusalẹmu, ó sì dúró níwájú àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa, ó sì rú ẹbọ sísun àti ẹbọ àlàáfíà. Nígbà náà ni ó ṣe àsè fún gbogbo àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀.
And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
16 Lẹ́yìn náà ni àwọn obìnrin alágbèrè méjì wá sọ́dọ̀ ọba, wọ́n sì dúró níwájú rẹ̀.
Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.
17 Ọ̀kan nínú wọn sì wí pé, “Olúwa mi, èmi àti obìnrin yìí ń gbé nínú ilé kan. Èmi sì bí ọmọ ní ilé pẹ̀lú rẹ̀.
And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.
18 Ní ọjọ́ kẹta lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí mo bímọ tan, obìnrin yìí sì bímọ pẹ̀lú. A sì nìkan dá wà; kò sí àlejò ní ilé bí kò ṣe àwa méjèèjì nìkan.
And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.
19 “Ní òru, ọmọ obìnrin yìí kú nítorí tí ó sùn lé e.
And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.
20 Nígbà náà ni ó sì dìde ní ọ̀gànjọ́, ó sì gbé ọmọ tèmi lẹ́gbẹ̀ẹ́ mi, nígbà tí èmi ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ ti sùn lọ. Ó sì tẹ́ ẹ sí àyà rẹ̀, ó sì tẹ́ òkú ọmọ tirẹ̀ sí àyà mi.
And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while your handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
21 Ní òwúrọ̀ ọjọ́ kejì, mo sì dìde láti fi ọmú fún ọmọ mi: ó sì ti kú! Ṣùgbọ́n, nígbà tí mo sì wò ó fín ní òwúrọ̀, mo sì rí i pé kì í ṣe ọmọ mi tí mo bí.”
And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.
22 Obìnrin kejì sì wí pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́! Èyí alààyè ni ọmọ mi, èyí òkú ni ọmọ tirẹ̀.” Èyí òkú ni tirẹ̀; èyí alààyè ni tèmi. Ṣùgbọ́n èyí àkọ́kọ́ tún wí pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́! Èyí òkú ni tìrẹ; èyí alààyè ni tèmi.” Báyìí ni wọ́n sì ń jiyàn níwájú ọba.
And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is your son. And this said, No; but the dead is your son, and the living is my son. Thus they spoke before the king.
23 Ọba sì wí pé, “Ẹni yìí wí pé, ‘Ọmọ mi ni ó wà láààyè, ọmọ tirẹ̀ ni ó kú,’ nígbà tí ẹni èkejì náà ń wí pé, ‘Bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́! Ọmọ tirẹ̀ ni ó kú, ọmọ tèmi ni ó wà láààyè.’”
Then said the king, The one says, This is my son that lives, and your son is the dead: and the other says, Nay; but your son is the dead, and my son is the living.
24 Nígbà náà ni ọba wí pé, “Ẹ mú idà fún mi wá.” Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n sì mú idà wá fún ọba.
And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.
25 Ọba sì pàṣẹ pé, “Ẹ gé alààyè ọmọ sí méjì, kí ẹ sì mú ìdajì fún ọ̀kan, àti ìdajì fún èkejì.”
And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.
26 Obìnrin tí ọmọ tirẹ̀ wà láààyè sì kún fún àánú fún ọmọ rẹ̀, ó sì wí fún ọba pé, “Jọ̀wọ́, olúwa mi, ẹ fún un ní alààyè ọmọ! Ẹ má ṣe pa á!” Ṣùgbọ́n obìnrin èkejì sì wí pé, “Kì yóò jẹ́ tèmi tàbí tìrẹ. Ẹ gé e sí méjì!”
Then spoke the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor yours, but divide it.
27 Nígbà náà ni ọba dáhùn, ó wí pé, “Ẹ fi alààyè ọmọ fún obìnrin àkọ́kọ́. Ẹ má ṣe pa á: òun ni ìyá rẹ̀.”
Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.
28 Nígbà tí gbogbo Israẹli gbọ́ ìdájọ́ tí ọba ṣe, wọ́n sì bẹ̀rù níwájú ọba, nítorí wọ́n ti rí í pé ó ní ọgbọ́n láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run láti ṣe ìdájọ́.
And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.
