< 1 Kings 2 >

1 Nígbà tí ọjọ́ ikú Dafidi súnmọ́ etílé, ó pàṣẹ fún Solomoni ọmọ rẹ̀.
Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying:
2 Ó sì wí pé, “Èmi ti fẹ́ lọ sí ọ̀nà gbogbo ayé, nítorí náà jẹ́ alágbára kí o sì fi ara rẹ hàn bí ọkùnrin,
'I go the way of all the earth; be thou strong therefore, and show thyself a man;
3 kí o sì wòye ohun tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ béèrè, rìn ní ọ̀nà rẹ̀, kí o sì pa àṣẹ àti òfin rẹ̀ mọ́, àti ìdájọ́ rẹ, àti ẹ̀rí rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí a ti kọ ọ́ nínú ìwé òfin Mose, nítorí kí ìwọ kí ó le è máa ṣe rere ní ohun gbogbo tí ìwọ ṣe, àti ní ibikíbi tí ìwọ bá lọ,
and keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, and His commandments, and His ordinances, and His testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself;
4 kí Olúwa kí ó lè pa ìlérí rẹ̀ tí ó sọ nípa tèmi mọ́ pé, ‘Bí àwọn ọmọ rẹ bá kíyèsi ọ̀nà wọn, tí wọ́n bá sì fi gbogbo àyà wọn àti ọkàn wọn rìn níwájú mi ní òtítọ́, o kì yóò sì kùnà láti ní ọkùnrin kan lórí ìtẹ́ Israẹli.’
that the LORD may establish His word which He spoke concerning me, saying: If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee, said He, a man on the throne of Israel.
5 “Ìwọ pẹ̀lú sì mọ ohun tí Joabu ọmọ Seruiah ṣe sí mi àti ohun tí ó ṣe sí balógun méjì nínú àwọn ológun Israẹli, sí Abneri ọmọ Neri àti sí Amasa ọmọ Jeteri. Ó sì pa wọ́n, ó sì ta ẹ̀jẹ̀ wọn sílẹ̀ ní ìgbà àlàáfíà bí í ti ojú ogun ó sì fi ẹ̀jẹ̀ náà sí ara àmùrè rẹ̀ tí ń bẹ ní ẹ̀gbẹ́ rẹ̀, àti sí ara sálúbàtà rẹ̀ tí ń bẹ ní ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀.
Moreover thou knowest also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did unto me, even what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto Abner the son of Ner and unto Amasa the son of Jether, whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his girdle that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet.
6 Ṣe sí í gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọgbọ́n rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n má ṣe jẹ́ kí ewú orí rẹ̀ sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ sí isà òkú ní àlàáfíà. (Sheol h7585)
Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and let not his hoar head go down to the grave in peace. (Sheol h7585)
7 “Ṣùgbọ́n fi inú rere hàn sí àwọn ọmọ Barsillai, ti Gileadi, jẹ́ kí wọn wà lára àwọn tí ó ń jẹun lórí tábìlì rẹ̀. Wọ́n dúró tì mí nígbà tí mo sá kúrò níwájú Absalomu arákùnrin rẹ.
But show kindness unto the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those that eat at thy table; for so they drew nigh unto me when I fled from Absalom thy brother.
8 “Àti kí o rántí, Ṣimei ọmọ Gera ẹ̀yà Benjamini tí Bahurimu wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, tí ó bú mi ní èébú tí ó korò ní ọjọ́ tí mo lọ sí Mahanaimu. Nígbà tí ó sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá pàdé mi ní Jordani, mo fi Olúwa búra fún un pé, ‘Èmi kì yóò fi idà pa ọ́.’
And, behold, there is with thee Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim; but he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by the LORD, saying: I will not put thee to death with the sword.
9 Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí, má ṣe kíyèsi í gẹ́gẹ́ bí aláìlẹ́ṣẹ̀, ọkùnrin ọlọ́gbọ́n ni ìwọ ṣe; ìwọ yóò mọ ohun tí ìwọ yóò ṣe sí i. Mú ewú orí rẹ̀ sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ sínú isà òkú pẹ̀lú ẹ̀jẹ̀.” (Sheol h7585)
Now therefore hold him not guiltless, for thou art a wise man; and thou wilt know what thou oughtest to do unto him, and thou shalt bring his hoar head down to the grave with blood.' (Sheol h7585)
10 Nígbà náà ni Dafidi sinmi pẹ̀lú àwọn baba rẹ̀, a sì sin ín ní ìlú Dafidi.
And David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.
11 Dafidi ti jẹ ọba lórí Israẹli ní ogójì ọdún, ọdún méje ni Hebroni àti ọdún mẹ́tàlélọ́gbọ̀n ní Jerusalẹmu.
And the days that David reigned over Israel were forty years: seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.
12 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Solomoni jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ Dafidi baba rẹ̀, ìjọba rẹ̀ sì fi ìdí múlẹ̀ gidigidi.
And Solomon sat upon the throne of David his father; and his kingdom was established firmly.
13 Wàyí, Adonijah ọmọ Haggiti tọ Batṣeba, ìyá Solomoni wá. Batṣeba sì bi í pé, “Àlàáfíà ni o bá wa bí?” Ó sì dáhùn pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, àlàáfíà ni.”
Then Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bath-sheba the mother of Solomon. And she said: 'Comest thou peaceably?' And he said: 'Peaceably.'
14 Nígbà náà ni ó sì fi kún un pé, “Mo ní ohun kan láti sọ fún ọ.” Batṣeba sì wí pé, “Máa wí.”
He said moreover: 'I have somewhat to say unto thee.' And she said: 'Say on.'
15 Ó wí pé, “Gẹ́gẹ́ bí o ti mọ̀, ti tèmi ni ìjọba náà. Gbogbo Israẹli ti wò mí bí ọba wọn. Ṣùgbọ́n nǹkan yípadà, ìjọba náà sì ti lọ sí ọ̀dọ̀ arákùnrin mi, nítorí ó ti wá sọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ láti ọwọ́ Olúwa wá.
And he said: 'Thou knowest that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign; howbeit the kingdom is turned about, and is become my brother's; for it was his from the LORD.
16 Nísinsin yìí mo ní ìbéèrè kan láti bi ọ́, má ṣe kọ̀ fún mi.” Ó wí pé, “O lè wí.”
And now I ask one petition of thee, deny me not.' And she said unto him: 'Say on.'
17 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó sì tẹ̀síwájú pé, “Mo bẹ̀ ọ́, jọ̀wọ́ sọ fún Solomoni ọba (òun kì yóò kọ̀ fún ọ́) kí ó fún mi ní Abiṣagi ará Ṣunemu ní aya.”
And he said: 'Speak, I pray thee, unto Solomon the king — for he will not say thee nay — that he give me Abishag the Shunammite to wife.'
18 Batṣeba sì dáhùn pé, “Ó dára èmi yóò bá ọba sọ̀rọ̀ nítorí rẹ̀.”
And Bath-sheba said: 'Well; I will speak for thee unto the king.'
19 Nígbà tí Batṣeba sì tọ Solomoni ọba lọ láti bá a sọ̀rọ̀ nítorí Adonijah, ọba sì dìde láti pàdé rẹ̀, ó sì tẹríba fún un, ó sì jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ rẹ̀. Ó sì tẹ́ ìtẹ́ kan fún ìyá ọba, ó sì jókòó lọ́wọ́ ọ̀tún rẹ̀.
Bath-sheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed down unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a throne to be set for the king's mother; and she sat on his right hand.
20 Ó sì wí pé, “Mo ní ìbéèrè kékeré kan láti béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ, má ṣe kọ̀ fún mi.” Ọba sì dáhùn wí pé, “Béèrè, ìyá mi; èmi kì yóò kọ̀ ọ́.”
Then she said: 'I ask one small petition of thee; deny me not.' And the king said unto her: 'Ask on, my mother; for I will not deny thee.'
21 Nígbà náà ni ó wí pé, “Jẹ́ kí a fi Abiṣagi ará Ṣunemu fún Adonijah arákùnrin rẹ ní aya.”
And she said: 'Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah thy brother to wife.'
22 Solomoni ọba sì dá ìyá rẹ̀ lóhùn pé, “Èéṣe tí ìwọ fi béèrè Abiṣagi ará Ṣunemu fún Adonijah! Ìwọ ìbá sì béèrè ìjọba fún un pẹ̀lú nítorí ẹ̀gbọ́n mi ní í ṣe, fún òun pàápàá àti fún Abiatari àlùfáà àti fun Joabu ọmọ Seruiah!”
And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother: 'And why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.'
23 Nígbà náà ni Solomoni ọba fi Olúwa búra pé, “Kí Ọlọ́run ki ó jẹ mí ní yà, àti jù bẹ́ẹ̀ pẹ̀lú, bí Adonijah kò bá ní fi ẹ̀mí rẹ̀ san ìbéèrè yìí!
Then king Solomon swore by the LORD, saying: 'God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah have not spoken this word against his own life.
24 Àti nísinsin yìí, bí ó ti dájú pé Olúwa wà láààyè, ẹni tí ó ti mú mi jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ baba mi Dafidi, àti tí ó sì ti kọ́ ilé fún mi bí ó ti ṣèlérí, lónìí ni a ó pa Adonijah!”
Now therefore as the LORD liveth, who hath established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who hath made me a house, as He promised, surely Adonijah shall be put to death this day.'
25 Solomoni ọba sì pàṣẹ fún Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada, ó sì kọlu Adonijah, ó sì kú.
And king Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell upon him, so that he died.
26 Ọba sì wí fún Abiatari àlùfáà pé, “Padà lọ sí pápá rẹ ni Anatoti, ó yẹ fún ọ láti kú, ṣùgbọ́n èmi kì yóò pa ọ́ nísinsin yìí, nítorí o ti gbé àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa Olódùmarè níwájú Dafidi baba mi, o sì ti ní ìpín nínú gbogbo ìyà tí baba mi jẹ.”
And unto Abiathar the priest said the king: 'Get thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields; for thou art deserving of death; but I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou didst bear the ark of the Lord GOD before David my father, and because thou wast afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.'
27 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Solomoni yọ Abiatari kúrò nínú iṣẹ́ àlùfáà Olúwa, kí ó lè mú ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa tí ó ti sọ nípa ilé Eli ní Ṣilo ṣẹ.
So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto the LORD; that the word of the LORD might be fulfilled, which He spoke concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.
28 Nígbà tí ìròyìn sì dé ọ̀dọ̀ Joabu, ẹni tí ó ti dìtẹ̀ pẹ̀lú Adonijah bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé kò wà pẹ̀lú Absalomu, ó sì sálọ sínú àgọ́ Olúwa, ó sì di ìwo pẹpẹ mú.
And the tidings came to Joab; for Joab had turned after Adonijah, though he turned not after Absalom. And Joab fled unto the Tent of the LORD, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
29 A sì sọ fún Solomoni ọba pé Joabu ti sálọ sínú àgọ́ Olúwa àti pé ó wà ní ẹ̀gbẹ́ pẹpẹ. Nígbà náà ni Solomoni pàṣẹ fún Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada pé, “Lọ, kí o sì kọlù ú.”
And it was told king Solomon: 'Joab is fled unto the Tent of the LORD, and, behold, he is by the altar.' Then Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, saying: 'Go, fall upon him.'
30 Benaiah sì wọ inú àgọ́ Olúwa, ó sì wí fún Joabu pé, “Ọba sọ wí pé, ‘Jáde wá.’” Ṣùgbọ́n ó dáhùn pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́, èmi yóò kú níhìn-ín.” Benaiah sì mú èsì fún ọba, “Báyìí ni Joabu ṣe dá mi lóhùn.”
And Benaiah came to the Tent of the LORD, and said unto him: 'Thus saith the king: Come forth.' And he said: 'Nay; but I will die here.' And Benaiah brought back word unto the king, saying: 'Thus said Joab, and thus he answered me.'
31 Ọba sì pàṣẹ fún Benaiah pé, “Ṣe bí ó ti wí. Kọlù ú, kí o sì sin ín, kí o sì mú ẹ̀jẹ̀ aláìṣẹ̀ kúrò lọ́dọ̀ mi àti kúrò lọ́dọ̀ ilé baba mi, tí Joabu ti ta sílẹ̀.
And the king said unto him: 'Do as he hath said, and fall upon him, and bury him; that thou mayest take away the blood, which Joab shed without cause, from me and from my father's house.
32 Olúwa yóò sì san ẹ̀jẹ̀ tí ó ti ta sílẹ̀ padà fún un, nítorí tí ó kọlu ọkùnrin méjì, ó sì fi idà rẹ̀ pa wọ́n, Dafidi baba mi kò sì mọ̀. Àwọn méjèèjì ni Abneri ọmọ Neri olórí ogun Israẹli, àti Amasa ọmọ Jeteri olórí ogun Juda, wọ́n jẹ́ olódodo, wọ́n sì sàn ju òun fúnra rẹ̀ lọ.
And the LORD will return his blood upon his own head, because he fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them with the sword, and my father David knew it not: Abner the son of Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah.
33 Kí ẹ̀bi ẹ̀jẹ̀ wọn wá sórí Joabu àti sórí irú-ọmọ rẹ̀ títí láé. Ṣùgbọ́n sórí Dafidi àti irú-ọmọ rẹ̀, sí ilé rẹ̀ àti sí ìtẹ́ rẹ̀, ni kí àlàáfíà Olúwa wà títí láé.”
So shall their blood return upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed for ever; but unto David, and unto his seed, and unto his house, and unto his throne, shall there be peace for ever from the LORD.'
34 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada sì gòkè lọ, ó sì kọlu Joabu, ó sì pa á, a sì sin ín ní ilẹ̀ ibojì ara rẹ̀ ní aginjù.
Then Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and slew him; and he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.
35 Ọba sì fi Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada jẹ olórí ogun ní ipò Joabu àti Sadoku àlùfáà ní ipò Abiatari.
And the king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his room over the host; and Zadok the priest did the king put in the room of Abiathar.
36 Nígbà náà ni ọba ránṣẹ́ sí Ṣimei, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Kọ́ ilé fún ara rẹ ní Jerusalẹmu, kí o sì máa gbé ibẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n kí o má sì ṣe lọ sí ibòmíràn.
And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him: Build thee a house in Jerusalem, and dwell there, and go not forth thence any whither.
37 Ọjọ́ tí ìwọ bá jáde, tí o sì kọjá àfonífojì Kidironi, kí ìwọ kí ó mọ̀ dájúdájú pé ìwọ yóò kú; ẹ̀jẹ̀ rẹ yóò sì wà lórí ara rẹ.”
For on the day thou goest out, and passest over the brook Kidron, know thou for certain that thou shalt surely die; thy blood shall be upon thine own head.'
38 Ṣimei sì dá ọba lóhùn pé, “Ohun tí ìwọ sọ dára. Ìránṣẹ́ rẹ yóò ṣe bí olúwa mi ọba ti wí.” Ṣimei sì gbé ní Jerusalẹmu fún ìgbà pípẹ́.
And Shimei said unto the king: 'The saying is good; as my lord the king hath said, so will thy servant do.' And Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem many days.
39 Ṣùgbọ́n lẹ́yìn ọdún mẹ́ta, àwọn ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ Ṣimei méjì sì sálọ sọ́dọ̀ Akiṣi ọmọ Maaka, ọba Gati, a sì sọ fún Ṣimei pé, “Àwọn ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ méjì wà ní Gati.”
And it came to pass at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei ran away unto Achish, son of Maacah, king of Gath. And they told Shimei, saying: 'Behold, thy servants are in Gath.'
40 Fún ìdí èyí, ó sì di kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ rẹ̀ ní gàárì, ó sì lọ sọ́dọ̀ Akiṣi ní Gati láti wá àwọn ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Ṣimei sì lọ, ó sì mú àwọn ọmọ ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀ padà bọ̀ láti Gati.
And Shimei arose, and saddled his ass, and went to Gath to Achish, to seek his servants; and Shimei went, and brought his servants from Gath.
41 Nígbà tí a sì sọ fún Solomoni pé Ṣimei ti lọ láti Jerusalẹmu sí Gati, ó sì ti padà.
And it was told Solomon that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and was come back.
42 Ọba pe Ṣimei lẹ́jọ́, ó wí fún un pé, “Ǹjẹ́ èmi kò ti mú ọ búra ní ti Olúwa, èmi sì ti kìlọ̀ fún ọ pé, ‘Ní ọjọ́ tí ìwọ bá kúrò láti lọ sí ibikíbi, kí o mọ̀ dájú pé ìwọ yóò kú.’ Nígbà náà ni ìwọ sì sọ fún mi pé, ‘Ohun tí ìwọ sọ dára. Èmi yóò ṣe ìgbọ́ràn.’
And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him: 'Did I not make thee to swear by the LORD, and forewarned thee, saying: Know for certain, that on the day thou goest out, and walkest abroad any whither, thou shalt surely die? and thou saidst unto me: The saying is good; I have heard it.
43 Èéṣe, nígbà náà tí ìwọ kò pa ìbúra Olúwa mọ́, àti kí o sì ṣe ìgbọ́ràn sí àṣẹ tí mo pa fún ọ?”
Why then hast thou not kept the oath of the LORD, and the commandment that I have charged thee with?'
44 Ọba sì tún wí fún Ṣimei pé, “Ìwọ mọ̀ ní ọkàn rẹ gbogbo búburú tí ìwọ ti ṣe sí Dafidi baba mi. Báyìí, Olúwa yóò san gbogbo ìṣe búburú rẹ padà fún ọ.
The king said moreover to Shimei: 'Thou knowest all the wickedness which thy heart is privy to, that thou didst to David my father; therefore the LORD shall return thy wickedness upon thine own head.
45 Ṣùgbọ́n a ó sì bùkún fún Solomoni ọba, ìtẹ́ Dafidi yóò sì wà láìfòyà níwájú Olúwa títí láéláé.”
But king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the LORD for ever.'
46 Nígbà náà ni ọba pàṣẹ fún Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada, ó sì jáde lọ, ó sì kọlu Ṣimei, ó sì pa á. Ìjọba náà sì wá fi ìdí múlẹ̀ ní ọwọ́ Solomoni.
So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he went out, and fell upon him, so that he died. And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.
