< 1 Kings 12 >

1 Rehoboamu sì lọ sí Ṣekemu, nítorí gbogbo Israẹli ti lọ síbẹ̀ láti fi í jẹ ọba.
And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for al Israel were come to Sheche, to make him king
2 Nígbà tí Jeroboamu ọmọ Nebati, tí ó wà ní Ejibiti síbẹ̀ gbọ́, nítorí tí ó ti sá kúrò níwájú Solomoni ọba, ó sì wà ní Ejibiti.
And whe Ieroboam ye sonne of Nebat heard of it (who was yet in Egypt, whither Ieroboam had fled from king Salomon, and dwelt in Egypt)
3 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n ránṣẹ́ sí Jeroboamu, òun àti gbogbo ìjọ Israẹli sì lọ sọ́dọ̀ Rehoboamu, wọ́n sì wí fún un pé,
Then they sent and called him: and Ieroboam and all the Congregation of Israel came, and spake vnto Rehoboam, saying,
4 “Baba rẹ sọ àjàgà wa di wúwo, ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí, mú kí ìsìn baba rẹ̀ tí ó le, àti àjàgà rẹ̀ tí ó wúwo, tí ó fi sí wa ní ọrùn kí ó fẹ́rẹ̀ díẹ̀, àwa yóò sì sìn ọ́.”
Thy father made our yoke grieuous: now therefore make thou the grieuous seruitude of thy father, and his sore yoke which he put vpon vs, lighter, and we will serue thee.
5 Rehoboamu sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ lọ ná títí di ọjọ́ mẹ́ta, nígbà náà ni kí ẹ padà tọ̀ mí wá.” Àwọn ènìyàn náà sì lọ.
And he said vnto them, Depart yet for three dayes, then come againe to me. And the people departed.
6 Nígbà náà ni Rehoboamu ọba fi ọ̀rọ̀ lọ àwọn àgbàgbà tí ń dúró níwájú Solomoni baba rẹ̀ nígbà tí ó wà láààyè. Ó sì béèrè pé, “Ìmọ̀ràn wo ni ẹ̀yin yóò gbà mí láti dá àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí lóhùn?”
And King Rehoboam tooke counsell with the olde men that had stande before Salomon his father, while he yet liued, and sayde, What counsell giue ye, that I may make an answere to this people?
7 Wọ́n sì dá a lóhùn pé, “Bí ìwọ yóò bá jẹ́ ìránṣẹ́ fún àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí lónìí, kí o sì sìn wọ́n, àti kí o sì sọ ọ̀rọ̀ rere sí wọn nígbà tí ìwọ bá ń dá wọn lóhùn, wọn yóò máa ṣe ìránṣẹ́ rẹ títí láé.”
And they spake vnto him, saying, If thou be a seruant vnto this people this day, and serue them, and answere them, and speake kinde wordes to them, they will be thy seruants for euer.
8 Ṣùgbọ́n Rehoboamu kọ ìmọ̀ràn tí àwọn àgbàgbà fún un, ó sì fi ọ̀rọ̀ náà lọ àwọn ọmọdé tí wọ́n dàgbà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, tí wọ́n sì ń sìn ín.
But he forsooke the counsell that the olde men had giuen him, and asked counsell of the yong men that had bene brought vp with him, and waited on him.
9 Ó sì bi wọ́n pé, “Kí ni ìmọ̀ràn yín? Báwo ni a ó ṣe dá àwọn ènìyàn yí lóhùn, tí wọ́n wí fún mi pé, ‘Ṣé kí àjàgà tí baba rẹ fi sí wa lọ́rùn kí ó fúyẹ́ díẹ̀’?”
And he said vnto them, What counsell giue ye, that we may answere this people, which haue spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke, which thy father did put vpon vs, lighter?
10 Àwọn ọmọdé tí ó dàgbà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ dá a lóhùn pé, “Sọ fún àwọn ènìyàn tí wọ́n wí fún ọ pé, ‘Baba rẹ̀ mú kí àjàgà wa wúwo ṣùgbọ́n ìwọ mú kí ó fúyẹ́ díẹ̀ fún wa’; sọ fún wọn pé, ìka ọwọ́ mi kékeré nípọn ju ẹ̀gbẹ́ baba mi lọ.
Then the yong men that were brought vp with him, spake vnto him, saying, Thus shalt thou say vnto this people, that haue spoken vnto thee, and said, Thy father hath made our yoke heauie, but make thou it lighter vnto vs: euen thus shalt thou say vnto them, My least part shalbe bigger then my fathers loynes.
11 Baba mi ti gbé àjàgà wúwo lé e yín; Èmi yóò sì fi kún àjàgà yín. Baba mi ti fi pàṣán nà yín, Èmi yóò fi àkéekèe nà yín.”
Now where as my father did burden you with a grieuous yoke, I will yet make your yoke heauier: my father hath chastised you with rods, but I will correct you with scourges.
12 Jeroboamu àti gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn náà wá sọ́dọ̀ Rehoboamu ní ọjọ́ kẹta, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọba ti wí pé, “Ẹ padà tọ̀ mí wá ní ọjọ́ kẹta.”
Then Ieroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me againe ye thirde day.
13 Ọba sì fi ohùn líle dá àwọn ènìyàn lóhùn, ó sì kọ ìmọ̀ràn tí àwọn àgbàgbà fún un,
And the king answered the people sharpely, and left the old mens counsell that they gaue him,
14 Ó sì tẹ̀lé ìmọ̀ràn àwọn ọmọdé, ó sì wí pé, “Baba mí sọ àjàgà yín di wúwo, èmi yóò sì jẹ́ kí ó wúwo sí i, baba mi fi pàṣán nà yín èmi yóò fi àkéekèe nà yín.”
And spake to them after the counsell of the yong men, saying, My father made your yoke grieuous, and I will make your yoke more grieuous: my father hath chastised you with rods, but I will correct you with scourges.
15 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ọba kò sì fi etí sí ti àwọn ènìyàn, nítorí tí ọ̀ràn náà ti ọwọ́ Olúwa wá láti mú ọ̀rọ̀ tí ó sọ fún Jeroboamu ọmọ Nebati láti ẹnu Ahijah ará Ṣilo ṣẹ.
And the King hearkened not vnto the people: for it was the ordinance of the Lord, that he might perfourme his saying, which the Lord had spoken by Ahiiah the Shilonite vnto Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat.
So when all Israel sawe that the King regarded them not, the people answered the King thus, saying, What portion haue we in Dauid? we haue none inheritance in the sonne of Ishai. To your tents, O Israel: nowe see to thine owne house, Dauid. So Israel departed vnto their tents.
17 Ṣùgbọ́n fún ti àwọn ọmọ Israẹli tí ń gbé nínú ìlú Juda, Rehoboamu jẹ ọba lórí wọn síbẹ̀.
Howbeit ouer the children of Israel, which dwelt in the cities of Iudah, did Rehoboam reigne still.
18 Ọba Rehoboamu rán Adoniramu jáde, ẹni tí ó wà ní ìkáwọ́ iṣẹ́ onírúurú, ṣùgbọ́n gbogbo Israẹli sọ ọ́ ní òkúta pa. Ọba Rehoboamu, gbìyànjú láti dé inú kẹ̀kẹ́ rẹ̀ ó sì sálọ sí Jerusalẹmu.
Nowe the King Rehoboam sent Adoram the receiuer of the tribute, and all Israel stoned him to death: then King Rehoboam made speede to get him vp to his charet, to flee to Ierusalem.
19 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Israẹli ṣọ̀tẹ̀ sí ilé Dafidi títí di òní yìí.
And Israel rebelled against the house of Dauid vnto this day.
20 Nígbà tí gbogbo Israẹli sì gbọ́ pé Jeroboamu ti padà dé, wọ́n ránṣẹ́, wọ́n sì pè é wá sí àjọ, wọ́n sì fi jẹ ọba lórí gbogbo Israẹli. Kò sí ẹnìkan tí ó tọ ilé Dafidi lẹ́yìn bí kò ṣe kìkì ẹ̀yà Juda nìkan.
And when all Israel had heard that Ieroboam was come againe, they sent and called him vnto the assemblie, and made him King ouer all Israel: none followed the house of Dauid, but the tribe of Iudah onely.
21 Nígbà tí Rehoboamu sì dé sí Jerusalẹmu, ó kó gbogbo ilé Juda jọ, àti ẹ̀yà Benjamini; ọ̀kẹ́ mẹ́sàn-án ènìyàn tí a yàn, tí wọ́n ń ṣe ológun, láti bá ilé Israẹli jà àti láti mú ìjọba náà padà bọ̀ sọ́dọ̀ Rehoboamu, ọmọ Solomoni.
And when Rehoboam was come to Ierusalem, he gathered all the house of Iudah with the tribe of Beniamin an hundreth and foure score thousand of chosen men (which were good warriours) to fight against the house of Israel, and to bring the kingdome againe to Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon.
22 Ṣùgbọ́n ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run tọ Ṣemaiah ènìyàn Ọlọ́run wá wí pé,
But the worde of God came vnto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
23 “Sọ fún Rehoboamu, ọmọ Solomoni, ọba Juda àti fún gbogbo ilé Juda àti ti Benjamini, àti fún àwọn ènìyàn tókù wí pé,
Speake vnto Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon King of Iudah, and vnto all the house of Iudah and Beniamin, and the remnant of the people, saying,
24 ‘Báyìí ni Olúwa wí, “Ẹ má ṣe gòkè lọ láti bá àwọn arákùnrin yín jà, àwọn ènìyàn Israẹli. Kì olúkúlùkù yín padà sí ilé rẹ̀, nítorí nǹkan yìí láti ọ̀dọ̀ mi wá ni.”’” Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n sì gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa, wọ́n sì tún padà sí ilé wọn, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa.
Thus saith the Lord, Ye shall not go vp, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: returne euery man to his house: for this thing is done by me. They obeyed therefore the worde of the Lord and returned, and departed, according to the worde of the Lord.
25 Nígbà náà ni Jeroboamu kọ́ Ṣekemu ní òkè Efraimu, ó sì ń gbé inú rẹ̀. Láti ibẹ̀ ó sì jáde lọ, ó sì kọ́ Penieli.
Then Ieroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein, and went from thence, and built Penuel.
26 Jeroboamu rò nínú ara rẹ̀ pé, “Ìjọba náà yóò padà nísinsin yìí sí ilé Dafidi.
And Ieroboam thought in his heart, Nowe shall the kingdome returne to the house of Dauid.
27 Bí àwọn ènìyàn wọ̀nyí bá gòkè lọ láti ṣe ìrúbọ ní ilé Olúwa ní Jerusalẹmu, wọn yóò tún fi ọkàn wọn fún Olúwa wọn, Rehoboamu ọba Juda. Wọn yóò sì pa mí, wọn yóò sì tún padà tọ Rehoboamu ọba Juda lọ.”
If this people goe vp and doe sacrifice in the house of the Lord at Ierusalem, then shall the heart of this people turne againe vnto their lorde, euen to Rehoboam King of Iudah: so shall they kill me and goe againe to Rehoboam King of Iudah.
28 Lẹ́yìn tí ó ti gba ìmọ̀ràn, ọba sì yá ẹgbọrọ màlúù wúrà méjì. Ó sì wí fún àwọn ènìyàn pé, “Ó ti pọ̀jù fún yín láti máa gòkè lọ sí Jerusalẹmu. Àwọn Ọlọ́run yín nìyìí, Israẹli, tí ó mú yín láti ilẹ̀ Ejibiti wá.”
Whereupon the King tooke counsell, and made two calues of golde, and saide vnto them, It is too much for you to goe vp to Ierusalem: beholde, O Israel, thy gods, which brought thee vp out of the lande of Egypt.
29 Ó sì gbé ọ̀kan kalẹ̀ ní Beteli, àti èkejì ní Dani.
And he set the one in Beth-el, and the other set he in Dan.
30 Nǹkan yìí sì di ẹ̀ṣẹ̀; àwọn ènìyàn sì lọ títí dé Dani láti sin èyí tí ó wà níbẹ̀.
And this thing turned to sinne: for the people went (because of the one) euen to Dan.
31 Jeroboamu sì kọ́ ojúbọ sórí ibi gíga, ó sì yan àwọn àlùfáà láti inú àwọn ènìyàn bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé wọn kì í ṣe inú àwọn ọmọ Lefi.
Also he made an house of hie places, and made Priestes of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sonnes of Leui.
32 Jeroboamu sì dá àsè sílẹ̀ ní ọjọ́ kẹ́ẹ̀dógún oṣù kẹjọ gẹ́gẹ́ bí àsè tí ó wà ní Juda, ó sì rú ẹbọ lórí pẹpẹ. Ó ṣe èyí ní Beteli, ó rú ẹbọ sí àwọn ọmọ màlúù tí ó ṣe. Ó sì fi àwọn àlùfáà sí ibi gíga tí ó ti ṣe sí Beteli.
And Ieroboam made a feast the fifteenth day of the eight moneth, like vnto the feast that is in Iudah, and offred on the altar. So did he in Beth-el and offered vnto the calues that he had made: and he placed in Beth-el the Priestes of the hie places, which he had made.
33 Ní ọjọ́ kẹ́ẹ̀dógún oṣù kẹjọ, oṣù tí ó rò ní ọkàn ara rẹ̀, ó sì rú ẹbọ lórí pẹpẹ tí ó kọ́ ní Beteli. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó sì dá àsè sílẹ̀ fún àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, ó sì gun orí pẹpẹ náà lọ láti rú ẹbọ.
And he offered vpon the altar, which he had made in Beth-el, the fifteenth day of the eight moneth, (euen in the moneth which he had forged of his owne heart) and made a solemne feast vnto the children of Israel: and he went vp to the altar, to burne incense.
