< 1 Kings 1 >

1 Nígbà tí Dafidi ọba di arúgbó, ọjọ́ rẹ̀ sì pọ̀, ara rẹ̀ kò le è móoru bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé wọ́n da ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ aṣọ bò ó.
Now king David was old, stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he could not become warm.
2 Nígbà náà ni àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ wí fún un pé, “Ẹ jẹ́ kí a wá ọ̀dọ́mọbìnrin wúńdíá kan kí ó dúró ti ọba, kì ó sì máa tọ́jú rẹ̀. Kí ó dùbúlẹ̀ ní àyà rẹ̀ kí ara ọba olúwa wa lè móoru.”
Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let them seek out for my lord the king a young virgin, and let her stand before the king, and let her be an attendant on him; and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may become warm.
3 Nígbà náà ni wọ́n lọ jákèjádò ilẹ̀ Israẹli láti wá ọ̀dọ́mọbìnrin arẹwà, wọ́n sì rí Abiṣagi, ará Ṣunemu, wọ́n sì mú un wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ ọba.
So they sought for a fair maiden throughout all the territory of Israel; and they found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
4 Ọmọbìnrin náà rẹwà gidigidi; ó sì ń ṣe ìtọ́jú ọba, ó sì ń ṣe ìránṣẹ́ fún un, ṣùgbọ́n ọba kò sì bá a lòpọ̀.
And the maiden was exceedingly fair; and she became an attendant on the king, and ministered to him; but the king knew her not.
5 Adonijah ẹni tí ìyá rẹ̀ ń ṣe Haggiti sì gbé ara rẹ̀ ga, ó sì wí pé, “Èmi yóò jẹ ọba.” Ó sì ṣètò kẹ̀kẹ́ ogun àti àwọn ẹlẹ́ṣin, pẹ̀lú àádọ́ta ọkùnrin láti máa sáré níwájú rẹ̀.
And Adoniyah the son of Chaggith exalted himself, saying, I shall be king: and he procured himself a chariot and horsemen, and fifty men who ran before him.
6 (Baba rẹ̀ kò bà á nínú jẹ́ rí nípa bíbéèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀ pé, “Èéṣe tí ìwọ fi hùwà báyìí?” Ó sì jẹ́ arẹwà ọkùnrin, òun ni a bí lé Absalomu.)
And his father had never grieved him in all his life by saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was of a very goodly form; and his mother had born him after Abshalom.
7 Adonijah sì gbèrò pẹ̀lú Joabu, ọmọ Seruiah àti Abiatari àlùfáà, wọ́n sì ṣe ìrànlọ́wọ́ fún un.
And he had conferences with Joab the son of Zeruyah, and with Ebyathar the priest: and they, following Adoniyah, helped him.
8 Ṣùgbọ́n Sadoku àlùfáà, Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada, Natani wòlíì, Ṣimei àti ọ̀rẹ́ rẹ̀ Rei àti olórí ogun Dafidi ni kò darapọ̀ mọ́ Adonijah.
But Zadok the priest, and Benayahu the son of Yehoyada', and Nathan the prophet, and Shim'i, and Re'i, and the mighty men that belonged to David, were not with Adoniyah.
9 Nígbà náà ni Adonijah fi àgùntàn àti màlúù àti ẹran ọ̀sìn tí ó sanra rú ẹbọ níbi Òkúta Soheleti tí ń bẹ lẹ́gbẹ̀ẹ́ En-Rogeli. Ó sì pe gbogbo àwọn arákùnrin rẹ̀, àwọn ọmọ ọba, àti gbogbo àwọn ọkùnrin Juda tí wọ́n jẹ́ ìránṣẹ́ ọba.
And Adoniyah slaughtered sheep and oxen and fatted cattle by the stone Zocheleth, which is by 'En-rogel; and he invited all his brothers the king's sons, and all the men of Judah the king's servants;
10 Ṣùgbọ́n kò pe Natani wòlíì tàbí Benaiah tàbí àwọn olórí tàbí Solomoni arákùnrin rẹ̀.
But Nathan the prophet, and Benayahu, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he invited not.
11 Nígbà náà ni Natani béèrè lọ́wọ́ Batṣeba, ìyá Solomoni pé, “Ǹjẹ́ ìwọ kò gbọ́ pé Adonijah, ọmọ Haggiti ti jẹ ọba láìjẹ́ pé Dafidi olúwa wa mọ̀ sí i?
And Nathan spoke unto Bath-sheba' the mother of Solomon, saying, Hast thou not heard that Adoniyah the son of Chaggith is become king, and [that] David our lord knoweth it not?
12 Ǹjẹ́ nísinsin yìí, jẹ́ kí èmi gbà ọ́ ní ìmọ̀ràn bí ìwọ ṣe lè gba ẹ̀mí rẹ là àti ẹ̀mí ọmọ rẹ Solomoni.
And now come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thy own life, and the life of thy son Solomon.
13 Lọ sọ́dọ̀ Dafidi ọba, kí o sì wí fún un pé, ‘Olúwa mi ọba, ǹjẹ́ ìwọ kò búra fún ìránṣẹ́ rẹ pé, “Dájúdájú Solomoni ọmọ rẹ ni yóò jọba lẹ́yìn mi, yóò sì jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ mi?” Èéṣe nígbà náà tí Adonijah fi jẹ ọba?’
Go and get thee in unto king David, and say unto him, Didst not thou, my lord, O king, swear unto thy hand-maid, saying, Assuredly, Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and only he shall sit upon my throne? why then is Adoniyah become king?
14 Níwọ́n ìgbà tí ìwọ sì wà níbẹ̀, tí o sì ń bá ọba sọ̀rọ̀ èmi yóò wá, láti wádìí ohun tí o ti sọ.”
And, lo, while thou shalt be yet speaking there with the king, I myself will come in after thee, and confirm thy words.
15 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Batṣeba lọ rí ọba ní inú yàrá rẹ̀, ọba sì gbó gidigidi níbi tí Abiṣagi ará Ṣunemu ti ń ṣe ìránṣẹ́ fún ọba.
And Bath-sheba' went in unto the king into the chamber, and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite was ministering unto the king.
16 Batṣeba sì tẹríba, ó sì kúnlẹ̀ níwájú ọba. Ọba sì béèrè pé, “Kí ni ìwọ ń fẹ́?”
And Bath-sheba' bowed, and prostrated herself unto the king: and the king said, What wouldst thou?
17 Ó sì wí fún ọba pé, “Olúwa mi; ìwọ fúnra rẹ̀ fi Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ búra fún ìránṣẹ́ rẹ pé, ‘Solomoni ọmọ rẹ yóò jẹ ọba lẹ́yìn mi, yóò sì jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ mi.’
And she said unto him, My lord, thou thyself didst swear by the Lord thy God unto thy hand-maid, Assuredly, Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and only he shall sit upon my throne.
18 Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí, Adonijah ti di ọba, ìwọ, ọba olúwa mi kò sì mọ̀ nípa rẹ̀.
And now, behold, Adoniyah is become king; and now, my lord, O king, thou knowest it not:
19 Òun sì ti fi ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ màlúù, àti ẹran tí ó ní ọ̀rá, àti àgùntàn rú ẹbọ, ó sì pe gbogbo àwọn ọmọ ọba, àti Abiatari àlùfáà àti Joabu balógun, ṣùgbọ́n kò sì pe Solomoni ìránṣẹ́ rẹ.
And he hath slaughtered oxen and fatted cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath invited all the sons of the king, and Ebyathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the army; but Solomon thy servant hath he not invited.
20 Olúwa mi ọba, ojú gbogbo Israẹli ń bẹ lára rẹ, láti mọ ẹni tí yóò jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ olúwa mi ọba lẹ́yìn rẹ.
And as for thee, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, to tell them, who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.
21 Bí kò ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ nígbà tí olúwa mi ọba bá sùn pẹ̀lú àwọn baba rẹ̀, wọn yóò sì ka èmi àti Solomoni sí ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀.”
Otherwise it would come to pass, when my lord the king sleepeth with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon may be counted offenders.
22 Bí ó sì ti ń bá ọba sọ̀rọ̀ lọ́wọ́, Natani wòlíì sì wọlé.
And, lo, while she was yet speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in.
23 Wọ́n sì sọ fún ọba pé, “Natani wòlíì wà níbí.” Ó sì lọ síwájú ọba, ó wólẹ̀, ó sì dojúbolẹ̀.
And they told the king, saying, Behold, here is Nathan the prophet: and when he was come in before the king, he prostrated himself before the king with his face to the ground.
24 Natani sì wí pé, “Ǹjẹ́ ìwọ, olúwa mi ọba, ti sọ pé Adonijah ni yóò jẹ ọba lẹ́yìn rẹ àti pé òun ni yóò jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ rẹ?
And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou then said, Adoniyah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne?
25 Ó sì ti sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ ní òní, ó sì ti rú ẹbọ ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ màlúù, àti ẹran ọlọ́ràá àti àgùntàn. Ó sì ti pe gbogbo àwọn ọmọ ọba, balógun àti Abiatari àlùfáà. Nísìnsinyìí, wọ́n ń jẹ, wọ́n ń mu pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, wọ́n sì wí pé, ‘Kí Adonijah ọba kí ó pẹ́!’
For he is gone down this day, and hath slaughtered oxen and fatted cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath invited all the king's sons, and the captains of the army, and Ebyathar the priest: and, behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and they say, Long live king Adoniyah.
26 Ṣùgbọ́n èmi ìránṣẹ́ rẹ, àti Sadoku àlùfáà, àti Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada, àti Solomoni ìránṣẹ́ rẹ ni kò pè.
But as for me, me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benayahu the son of Yehoyada', and thy servant Solomon, hath he not invited.
27 Ṣé nǹkan yìí ni olúwa mi ọba ti ṣe láìjẹ́ kí àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ mọ ẹni tí yóò jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ olúwa mi ọba lẹ́yìn rẹ?”
Can it be that this hath been done by order of my lord the king, and thou hast not informed thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?
28 Nígbà náà ni Dafidi ọba wí pé, “Pe Batṣeba wọlé wá.” Ó sì wá síwájú ọba, ó sì dúró níwájú rẹ̀.
Then answered king David, and said, Call me Bath-sheba'; and she came into the king's presence, and stood before the king.
29 Ọba sì búra pé, “Dájúdájú bí Olúwa ti wà ẹni tí ó ti gbà mí kúrò nínú gbogbo wàhálà
And the king swore and said, As the Lord liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out of all distress,
30 Lónìí dandan ni èmi yóò gbé ohun tí mo ti fi Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli búra fún yọ pé, Solomoni ọmọ rẹ ni yóò jẹ ọba lẹ́yìn mi, àti pé yóò jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ mi ní ipò mi.”
Even as I have sworn unto thee by the Lord the God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and only he shall sit upon my throne in my stead: even so will I certainly do this day.
31 Nígbà náà ni Batṣeba tẹríba, ó sì kúnlẹ̀ níwájú ọba pé, “Kí olúwa mi Dafidi ọba kí ó pẹ́!”
Then did Bath-sheba' bow herself with her face to the earth, and prostrate herself unto the king; and she said, May my lord, the king David, live for ever!
32 Dafidi ọba sì wí pé, “Ẹ pe Sadoku àlùfáà wọlé fún mi àti Natani wòlíì àti Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada.” Nígbà tí wọ́n wá síwájú ọba,
And king David said, Call unto me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benayahu the son of Yehoyada'. And they came before the king.
33 ọba sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ mú àwọn ìránṣẹ́ olúwa yín pẹ̀lú yín kí ẹ sì mú kí Solomoni ọmọ mi kí ó gun ìbáaka mi, kí ẹ sì mú un sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá sí Gihoni.
And the king said unto them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride upon my own mule, and conduct him down to Gichon:
34 Níbẹ̀ ni Sadoku àlùfáà àti Natani wòlíì yóò ti fi òróró yàn án ní ọba lórí Israẹli. Ẹ fọn fèrè, kí ẹ sì ké pé, ‘Kí Solomoni ọba kí ó pẹ́!’
And let Zadok the priest with Nathan the prophet anoint him there as king over Israel; and blow ye with the cornet, and say, Long live king Solomon.
35 Nígbà náà ni kí ẹ sì gòkè pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, kí ó sì wá, kí ó sì jókòó sórí ìtẹ́ mi, kí ó sì jẹ ọba ní ipò mi. Èmi ti yàn án ní ọba lórí gbogbo Israẹli àti Juda.”
Then shall ye go up after him, and he shall come and sit upon my throne; and he shall be king in my stead: and him have I ordained to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.
36 Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada sì dá ọba lóhùn pé, “Àmín! Kí Olúwa Ọlọ́run olúwa mi ọba, kéde rẹ̀ bẹ́ẹ̀.
And Benayahu the son of Yehoyada' answered the king, and said, Amen: May thus say the Eternal the God of my lord the king.
37 Bí Olúwa ti wà pẹ̀lú olúwa mi ọba, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kí ó wà pẹ̀lú Solomoni kí ó lè mú kí ìjọba rẹ̀ pẹ́ ju ìtẹ́ olúwa mi Dafidi ọba lọ!”
As the Eternal hath been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, and may he make his throne greater than the throne of my lord the king David.
38 Nígbà náà ni Sadoku àlùfáà, Natani wòlíì, Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada, àwọn ará Kereti àti Peleti sì sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá wọ́n sì gbé Solomoni gun ìbáaka Dafidi ọba wá sí Gihoni.
Thereupon Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benayahu the son of Yehoyada', and the Kerethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David's mule, and conducted him to Gichon.
39 Sadoku àlùfáà sì mú ìwo òróró láti inú àgọ́, ó sì dà á sí Solomoni lórí. Nígbà náà ni wọ́n sì fọn fèrè, gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn sì ké pé, “Kí Solomoni ọba kí ó pẹ́!”
And Zadok the priest took the horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew with the cornet; and all the people said, Long live king Solomon.
40 Gbogbo ènìyàn sì gòkè tọ̀ ọ́ lẹ́yìn wọ́n ń fọn ìpè, wọ́n sì ń yọ ayọ̀ ńlá, tó bẹ́ẹ̀ tí ilẹ̀ mì fún ìró wọn.
And all the people went up after him, and the people blew on flutes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth was rent at their noise.
41 Adonijah àti gbogbo àwọn àlejò tí ó wà lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ gbọ́ ọ́ bí wọ́n ti ń jẹun tán, wọ́n ń gbọ́ ìpè, Joabu sì wí pé, “Kí ní ìtumọ̀ gbogbo ariwo nínú ìlú yìí?”
And Adoniyah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had just finished eating: and when Joab heard the sound of the cornet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city in an uproar?
42 Bí ó sì ti ń sọ̀rọ̀ lọ́wọ́, Jonatani ọmọ Abiatari àlùfáà sì dé, Adonijah sì wí pé, “Wọlé wá, ọkùnrin yíyẹ ìwọ gbọdọ̀ mú ìròyìn rere wá.”
And while he was yet speaking, behold, Jonathan the son of Ebyathar the priest came in: and Adoniyah said [unto him], Come in; for thou art a worthy man, and must bring good tidings.
43 Jonatani sì dáhùn, ó sì wí fún Adonijah pé, “Lóòótọ́ ni olúwa wa Dafidi ọba, fi Solomoni jẹ ọba.
And Jonathan answered and said to Adoniyah, Alas, no; our lord king David hath made Solomon king;
44 Ọba sì ti rán Sadoku àlùfáà, Natani wòlíì, Benaiah ọmọ Jehoiada àti àwọn ará Kereti àti Peleti pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, wọ́n sì ti gbé e gun ìbáaka ọba,
And the king hath sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benayahu the son of Yehoyada', and the Kerethites, and the Pelethites, and they have caused him to ride upon the king's mule;
45 Sadoku àlùfáà àti Natani wòlíì ti fi òróró yàn án ní ọba ní Gihoni. Láti ibẹ̀ ni wọ́n ti gòkè wá pẹ̀lú ayọ̀, ìlú sì ń hó pẹ̀lú rẹ̀. Èyí ni ariwo tí ẹ̀yin ń gbọ́.
And Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him as king on the Gichon; and they are come up from there rejoicing, and the city hath been set in commotion. This is the noise that ye have heard.
46 Solomoni sì ti jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ ìjọba rẹ̀.
And Solomon hath also sat on the kingly throne.
47 Àwọn ìránṣẹ́ ọba sì ti tún wá láti bá olúwa wa Dafidi ọba yọ̀, wí pé, ‘Kí Ọlọ́run rẹ̀ mú orúkọ Solomoni lókìkí ju tirẹ̀ lọ àti kí ìtẹ́ rẹ̀ kí ó pọ̀ ju tirẹ̀ lọ!’ Ọba sì tẹ ara rẹ̀ ba lórí ibùsùn rẹ̀,
And also the king's servants are come to bless our lord king David, saying, May God make the name of Solomon more famous than thy name, and make his throne greater than thy throne: and the king hath bowed himself upon the bed.
48 ọba sì wí pé, ‘Ògo ni fún Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli, ẹni tí ó ti jẹ́ kí ojú mi rí ẹnìkan tí ó jókòó lórí ìtẹ́ mi lónìí.’”
And also thus hath the king said, Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel, who hath given [me] this day one who sitteth on my throne, while my eyes see it.
49 Nígbà náà ni gbogbo àwọn àlejò tí ó wà lọ́dọ̀ Adonijah dìde ní ìdágìrì, wọ́n sì túká.
And all the guests that were with Adoniyah were terrified, and rose up, and went, every man, on his own way.
50 Ṣùgbọ́n Adonijah sì bẹ̀rù Solomoni, ó lọ, ó sì di ìwo pẹpẹ mú.
And Adoniyah was afraid because of Solomon; and he arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
51 Nígbà náà ni a sì sọ fún Solomoni pé, “Adonijah bẹ̀rù Solomoni ọba, ó sì di ìwo pẹpẹ mú, Ó wí pé, ‘Jẹ́ kí ọba Solomoni búra fún mi lónìí pé, òun kì yóò fi idà pa ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀.’”
And it was told unto Solomon, saying, Behold, Adoniyah feareth king Solomon; and, behold, he hath caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear unto me today that he will not slay his servant with the sword.
52 Solomoni sì dáhùn pé, “Bí ó bá fi ara rẹ̀ hàn láti jẹ́ ẹni ọ̀wọ̀, irun orí rẹ̀ kan kì yóò sì bọ́ sílẹ̀; ṣùgbọ́n bí a bá rí búburú kan ní ọwọ́ rẹ̀ òun yóò kú.”
And Solomon said, If he will become a worthy man, there shall not a hair of his fall to the earth; but if any wrong shall be found on him, then shall he die.
53 Nígbà náà ni Solomoni ọba rán àwọn ènìyàn, wọ́n sì mú un sọ̀kalẹ̀ láti ibi pẹpẹ wá. Adonijah sì wá, ó sì foríbalẹ̀ fún Solomoni ọba, Solomoni sì wí pé, “Lọ ilé rẹ.”
So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar; and he came and bowed himself to king Solomon; and Solomon said unto him, Go to thy house.
