< 1 John 1 >
1 Èyí tí ó wà láti àtètèkọ́ṣe, tí àwa ti gbọ́, tí àwa ti fi ojú wa rí, tí àwa sì ti tẹjúmọ́, tí ọwọ́ wa sì ti dì mú; èyí tí a kéde; ní ti ọ̀rọ̀ ìyè;
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word (logos) of life;
2 iyè náà sì ti farahàn, àwa sì ti rí i, àwa sì ń jẹ́rìí, àwa sì ń sọ ti ìyè àìnípẹ̀kun náà fún yín, tí ó ti ń bẹ lọ́dọ̀ Baba, tí ó sì farahàn fún wa. (aiōnios )
(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us; ) (aiōnios )
3 Àwa ń sọ fún yín, èyí tí àwa ti rí, tí àwa sì ti gbọ́, kí ẹ̀yin pẹ̀lú kí ó lè ní ìdàpọ̀ pẹ̀lú wa. Nítòótọ́ ìdàpọ̀ wa sì ń bẹ pẹ̀lú Baba àti pẹ̀lú ọmọ rẹ̀, Jesu Kristi.
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that all of you also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 Àwa sì kọ̀wé nǹkan wọ̀nyí sí yín, kí ayọ̀ yín kí ó lè di kíkún.
And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5 Èyí sì ni iṣẹ́ tí àwa ti gbọ́ lẹ́nu rẹ̀, tí àwa sì ń jẹ́ fún yín pé, ìmọ́lẹ̀ ni Ọlọ́run; ní ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ̀ kò sì òkùnkùn rárá.
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 Bí àwa bá wí pé àwa ní ìdàpọ̀ pẹ̀lú rẹ̀, tí àwa sì ń rìn nínú òkùnkùn, àwa ń ṣèké, àwa kò sì gbé nínú òtítọ́.
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 Ṣùgbọ́n bí àwa bá ń rìn nínú ìmọ́lẹ̀, gẹ́gẹ́ bí òun ti ń wà nínú ìmọ́lẹ̀, àwa ní ìdàpọ̀ pẹ̀lú ara wa, àti pé ẹ̀jẹ̀ Jesu Kristi, Ọmọ rẹ̀, wẹ̀ wá nù kúrò nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ gbogbo.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 Bí àwa bá wí pé àwa kò ní ẹ̀ṣẹ̀, àwa ń tan ara wa jẹ, òtítọ́ kan kò sì ṣí nínú wa.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 Bí àwa bá jẹ́wọ́ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wa, olóòtítọ́ àti olódodo ni òun láti dárí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wa jì wá, àti láti wẹ̀ wá nù kúrò nínú àìṣòdodo gbogbo.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 Bí àwa bá wí pé àwa kò dẹ́ṣẹ̀, àwa mú un ní èké, ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ kò sì ṣí nínú wa.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word (logos) is not in us.
