< 1 John 5 >
1 Olúkúlùkù ẹni tí ó bá gbàgbọ́ pé Jesu ni Kristi, a bí i nípa ti Ọlọ́run: àti olúkúlùkù ẹni tí ó fẹ́ràn. Ẹni tí ó bi nì, ó fẹ́ràn ẹni tí a bí nípasẹ̀ rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú.
Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God; and every one who loves the Father loves also Him who is the Father's Child.
2 Nípa èyí ni àwa mọ̀ pé àwa fẹ́ràn àwọn ọmọ Ọlọ́run, nígbà tí a bá fẹ́ràn Ọlọ́run, tí a sì ń pa òfin rẹ̀ mọ́.
The fact that we love God Himself, and obey His commands, is a proof that we love God's children.
3 Nítorí èyí ni ìfẹ́ Ọlọ́run, pé kí àwa pa òfin rẹ̀ mọ́: òfin rẹ̀ kò sì nira,
Love for God means obedience to His commands; and His commands are not irksome.
4 nítorí olúkúlùkù ẹni tí a bí nípa tí Ọlọ́run, ó ṣẹ́gun ayé. Èyí sì ni ìṣẹ́gun tí ó ṣẹ́gun ayé, àní ìgbàgbọ́ wa.
For every child of God overcomes the world; and the victorious principle which has overcome the world is our faith.
5 Ta ni ẹni tí ó ṣẹ́gun ayé, bí kò ṣe ẹni tí ó gbàgbọ́ pé Ọmọ Ọlọ́run ni Jesu jẹ́?
Who but the man that believes that Jesus is the Son of God overcomes the world?
6 Èyí ni ẹni tí ó wá nípa omi àti ẹ̀jẹ̀, Jesu Kristi, kì í ṣe nípa omi nìkan, bí kò ṣe nípa omi àti ẹ̀jẹ̀. Àti pé Ẹ̀mí ni ó sì ń jẹ́rìí, nítorí pé òtítọ́ ni Ẹ̀mí.
Jesus Christ is He who came with water and blood; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. And it is the Spirit who gives testimony-- because the Spirit is the Truth.
7 Nítorí pé àwọn mẹ́ta ni ó ń jẹ́rìí.
For there are three that give testimony-- the Spirit, the water, and the blood;
8 Ẹ̀mí, omi, àti ẹ̀jẹ̀: àwọn mẹ́tẹ̀ẹ̀ta sì wà ni ìṣọ̀kan.
and there is complete agreement between these three.
9 Bí àwa ba ń gba ẹ̀rí ènìyàn, ẹ̀rí Ọlọ́run tóbi jù: nítorí ẹ̀rí Ọlọ́run ni èyí pé, Ó tí jẹ́rìí ní ti Ọmọ rẹ̀.
If we accept the testimony of men, God's testimony is greater: for God's testimony consists of the things which He has testified about His Son.
10 Ẹni tí ó bá gba Ọmọ Ọlọ́run gbọ́, ó ni ẹ̀rí nínú ara rẹ̀; ẹni tí kò bá gba Ọlọ́run gbọ́, ó ti mú un ni èké; nítorí kò gba ẹ̀rí náà gbọ́ tí Ọlọ́run jẹ́ ní ti Ọmọ rẹ̀.
He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in his own heart: he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, in that he has refused to accept the testimony which God has given about His Son.
11 Ẹ̀rí náà sì ni èyí pé Ọlọ́run fún wa ní ìyè àìnípẹ̀kun, ìyè yìí sì ń bẹ nínú Ọmọ rẹ̀. (aiōnios )
And that testimony is to the effect that God has given us the Life of the Ages, and that this Life is in His Son. (aiōnios )
12 Ẹni tí ó bá ni Ọmọ, ó ni ìyè; ẹni tí kò bá sì ni Ọmọ Ọlọ́run, kò ní ìyè.
He who has the Son has the Life: he who has not the Son of God has not the Life.
13 Nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni mo kọ̀wé rẹ̀ sí yín, àní sí ẹ̀yin tí ó gba orúkọ Ọmọ Ọlọ́run gbọ́; kí ẹ̀yin lè mọ̀ pé ẹ̀yin ní ìyè àìnípẹ̀kun, àní fún ẹ̀yin tí ó gba orúkọ Ọmọ Ọlọ́run gbọ́. (aiōnios )
I write all this to you in order that you who believe in the Son of God may know for certain that you already have the Life of the Ages. (aiōnios )
14 Èyí sì ni ìgboyà tí àwa ní níwájú rẹ̀, pé bí àwa bá béèrè ohunkóhun gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìfẹ́ rẹ̀, ó ń gbọ́ tí wa.
And we have an assured confidence that whenever we ask anything in accordance with His will, He listens to us.
15 Bí àwa bá sì mọ̀ pé ó ń gbọ́ tí wa, ohunkóhun tí àwa bá béèrè, àwa mọ̀ pé àwa rí ìbéèrè tí àwa ti béèrè lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ gbà.
And since we know that He listens to us, then whatever we ask, we know that we have the things which we have asked from Him.
16 Bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá rí arákùnrin rẹ̀ tí ń dẹ́ṣẹ̀ tí kì í ṣe sí ikú, òun yóò béèrè, Ọlọ́run yóò sì fún un ni ìyè, àní, fún àwọn tí ń dẹ́ṣẹ̀ tí kì í ṣe sí ikú. Ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ kan ń bẹ sì ikú, èmi kò wí pé ki òun gbàdúrà fún èyí.
If any one sees a brother man committing a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask and God shall give him life--for those who do not sin unto death. There is such a thing as sin unto death; for that I do not bid him make request.
17 Gbogbo àìṣòdodo ni ẹ̀ṣẹ̀, ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ kan ń bẹ tí kì í ṣe sí ikú.
Any kind of wrongdoing is sin; but there is sin which is not unto death.
18 Àwa mọ̀ pé ẹnikẹ́ni tí a bí nípa ti Ọlọ́run kì í dẹ́ṣẹ̀: ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí a bí nípa tí Ọlọ́run a pa ara rẹ̀ mọ́, ẹni búburú kò ní lè fọwọ́ kàn án.
We know that no one who is a child of God lives in sin, but He who is God's Child keeps him, and the Evil one cannot touch him.
19 Àwa mọ̀ pé tí Ọlọ́run ni wá, àti gbogbo ayé ni ó wà lábẹ́ agbára ẹni búburú náà.
We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the Evil one.
20 Àwa sì mọ̀ pé Ọmọ Ọlọ́run dé, ó sì tí fi òye fún wa, kí àwa lè mọ ẹni tí í ṣe òtítọ́, àwa sì ń bẹ nínú ẹni tí í ṣe òtítọ́, àní, nínú Ọmọ rẹ̀, Jesu Kristi. Èyí ni Ọlọ́run òtítọ́, àti ìyè àìnípẹ̀kun. (aiōnios )
And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we know the true One, and are in union with the true One--that is, we are in union with His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and the Life of the Ages. (aiōnios )
21 Ẹ̀yin ọmọ mi, ẹ pa ara yín mọ́ kúrò nínú òrìṣà.
Dear children, guard yourselves from idols.
