< 1 Corinthians 5 >
1 Ìròyìn rẹ ń tàn kalẹ̀ pé ìwà àgbèrè wa láàrín yín, irú àgbèrè tí a kò tilẹ̀ gbúròó rẹ̀ láàrín àwọn aláìkọlà pé, ẹnìkan nínú yín ń fẹ́ ìyàwó baba rẹ̀.
There is a wide-spread report respecting a case of immorality among you, and that, too, of a kind that does not occur even among the Gentiles – a man, I hear, is living with his father’s wife!
2 Ẹ̀yin ń ṣe ìgbéraga! Ẹ̀yin kò kúkú káàánú kí a lè mú ẹni tí ó hu ìwà yìí kúrò láàrín yín?
Instead of grieving over it and taking steps for the expulsion of the man who has done this thing, is it possible that you are still puffed up?
3 Lóòtítọ́ èmi kò sí láàrín yín nípa ti ara, ṣùgbọ́n mo wà lọ́dọ̀ yín nínú ẹ̀mí àti pé, ní orúkọ Olúwa Jesu Kristi, mo tí ṣe ìdájọ́ lórí irú ẹni bẹ́ẹ̀, bí ẹni pé mo wá láàrín yín.
For I myself, though absent in body, have been present with you in spirit, and in the name of our Lord Jesus I have already passed judgment, just as if I had been present, on the man who has acted in this way.
4 Ní orúkọ Jesu Kristi. Nígbà tí ẹ̀yin bá péjọ, àti ẹ̀mí mi si wa pẹ̀lú yin nínú ẹ̀mí mi àti pẹ̀lú agbára Jesu Kristi Olúwa wa.
I have decided – having been present in spirit at your meetings, when the power of the Lord Jesus was with us –
5 Kí ẹ fi irú ẹni bẹ́ẹ̀ lé Satani lọ́wọ́ fún ìparun ara, kí ó ba à le gba ẹ̀mí rẹ là ní ọjọ́ Olúwa wa Jesu Kristi.
to deliver such a man as this over to Satan, that what is sensual in him may be destroyed, so that his spirit may be saved at the day of the Lord.
6 Ìṣeféfé yín kò dára. Ẹ̀yin kò mọ̀ pé ìwúkàrà díẹ̀ ní mú gbogbo ìyẹ̀fun di wíwú?
Your boasting is unseemly. Don’t you know that even a little yeast leavens all the dough?
7 Nítorí náà ẹ mú ìwúkàrà àtijọ́ kúrò nínú yín, kí ẹ̀yin kí ó lè jẹ ìyẹ̀fun tuntun, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹ̀yin tí jẹ àkàrà ti kò ní ìwúkàrà. Nítorí à ti fi ìrékọjá wa, àní Kristi ni a ti pa láti fi ṣe ẹbọ fún ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wa.
Get rid entirely of the old leaven, so that you may be like new dough – free from leaven, as in truth you are. For our passover lamb is already sacrificed – Christ himself;
8 Nítorí náà, ẹ jẹ́ kí á pa àjọ náà mọ́, kì í ṣe pẹ̀lú ìwúkàrà àtijọ́ bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kì í ṣe pẹ̀lú ìwúkàrà àrankàn àti ìwà búburú, ṣùgbọ́n pẹ̀lú àkàrà tí kò ní ìwúkàrà, àkàrà òtítọ́ àti òdodo.
therefore let us keep our festival, not with the leaven of former days, nor with the leaven of vice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
9 Nígbà tí mo kọ̀wé ṣáájú sí i yín, mo sọ fún yín pé, kí ẹ má ṣe darapọ̀ pẹ̀lú àwọn alágbèrè ènìyàn.
I told you, in my letter, not to associate with immoral people –
10 Nígbà tí mo sọ bẹ́ẹ̀ ń kò sọ̀rọ̀ nípa àwọn tí ayé yìí, tí wọ́n ń gbé ìgbé ayé wọn nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ àgbèrè, àti àwọn olójúkòkòrò tí ń rẹ́ ni jẹ, àwọn olè àti àwọn abọ̀rìṣà. Nítorí ó dájú pé ẹ̀yin gbọdọ̀ kúrò nínú ayé yìí láti yẹra fún wọn.
not, of course, meaning people of the world who are in immoral, or who are covetous and grasping, or who worship idols; for then you would have to leave the world altogether.
11 Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí mo kọ̀wé sí i yín pé, bí ẹnikẹ́ni tí a pe rẹ̀ ni arákùnrin bá jẹ́ àgbèrè, tàbí wọ̀bìà, tàbí abọ̀rìṣà, àti ẹlẹ́gàn, tàbí ọ̀mùtípara, tàbí alọ́nilọ́wọ́gbà. Kí ẹ tilẹ̀ bá irú ẹni bẹ́ẹ̀ jẹun.
But, as things are, I say that you are not to associate with anyone who, although a follower of Christ in name, is immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or abusive, or a drunkard, or grasping – no, not even to sit down to eat with such people.
12 Nítorí èwo ni tèmi láti máa ṣe ìdájọ́ àwọn tí ń bẹ lóde? Kì í ha ṣe àwọn tí ó wà nínú ni ẹ̀yin ṣe ìdájọ́ wọn?
What have I to do with judging those outside the church? Is it not for you to judge those who are within the church,
13 Ọlọ́run yóò ṣe ìdájọ́ àwọn tí ó ń bẹ lóde. “Ẹ lé àwọn ènìyàn búburú náà kúrò láàrín yín.”
while God judges those who are outside? Put away the wicked from among you.
