1 Nígbà tí Dafidi sì dàgbà, tí ó sì di arúgbó, ó sì fi Solomoni ọmọ rẹ̀ jẹ ọba lórí Israẹli.
When David was old and near the end of his life, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
2 Ó sì kó gbogbo àgbàgbà Israẹli jọ, àti gẹ́gẹ́ bí àwọn àlùfáà àti àwọn ará Lefi.
He gathered together all the leaders of Israel, with the priests and Levites.
3 Àwọn ọmọ Lefi láti ọgbọ̀n ọdún tàbí jù bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ ni wọ́n kà àpapọ̀ iye àwọn ọkùnrin wọn sì jẹ́ ẹgbàá mọ́kàndínlógún.
The Levites who were thirty years old and older were counted. They numbered thirty-eight thousand.
4 Dafidi sì wí pe, ní ti èyí, ẹgbàá méjìlá ni kí wọn jẹ́ alábojútó iṣẹ́ ilé fún Olúwa àti ẹgbẹ̀rún mẹ́fà ni kí ó ṣe olórí àti onídàájọ́.
“Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work of Yahweh's house, and six thousand were officers and judges.
5 Ẹgbàajì ni kí ó jẹ́ olùtọ́jú ẹnu-ọ̀nà àti ẹgbàajì ni kí o sì jẹ́ ẹni ti yóò máa yin Olúwa pẹ̀lú ohun èlò orin, mo ti ṣe èyí fún ìdí pàtàkì yìí.
Four thousand were gatekeepers, and four thousand were to praise Yahweh with the instruments that I made to give praise,” David said.
6 Dafidi sì pín àwọn ọmọ Lefi sí ẹgbẹgbẹ́ láàrín àwọn ọmọ Lefi: Gerṣoni, Kohati àti Merari.
He divided them into groups that corresponded to Levi's sons: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
7 Àwọn tí ó jẹ́ ọmọ Gerṣoni: Laadani àti Ṣimei.
From the clans descended from Gershon, there were Ladan and Shimei.
8 Àwọn ọmọ Laadani Jehieli ẹni àkọ́kọ́, Setamu àti Joẹli, mẹ́ta ní gbogbo wọn.
There were three of Ladan's sons: Jehiel the leader, Zetham, and Joel.
9 Àwọn ọmọ Ṣimei: Ṣelomiti, Hasieli àti Harani mẹ́ta ní gbogbo wọn. Àwọn wọ̀nyí sì ni olórí àwọn ìdílé Laadani.
There were three of Shimei's sons: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran. These were the leaders of the clans of Ladan.
10 Àti ọmọ Ṣimei: Jahati, Sina, Jeuṣi àti Beriah. Àwọn wọ̀nyí ni ọmọ Ṣimei mẹ́rin ni gbogbo wọn.
There were four of Shimei's sons: Jahath, Ziza, Jeush, and Beriah.
11 Jahati sì ni alákọ́kọ́ Sinah sì ni ẹlẹ́ẹ̀kejì, ṣùgbọ́n Jeuṣi àti Beriah kò ní àwọn ọmọ púpọ̀; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n sì ka ara wọn sí ìdílé kan pẹ̀lú ìfilé lọ́wọ́ kan.
Jahath was the oldest, and Ziza the second, but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, so they were considered as one clan with the same duties.
12 Àwọn ọmọ Kohati: Amramu, Isari, Hebroni àti Usieli mẹ́rin ni gbogbo wọn.
There were four of Kohath's sons: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
13 Àwọn ọmọ Amramu. Aaroni àti Mose. A sì ya Aaroni sọ́tọ̀ òun àti àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ títí láéláé, láti kọjú sí ohun mímọ́ jùlọ, láti fi rú ẹbọ sísun níwájú Olúwa, láti máa ṣe òjíṣẹ́ níwájú rẹ̀ àti láti kéde ìbùkún ní orúkọ rẹ̀ títí láéláé.
These were Amram's sons: Aaron and Moses. Aaron was chosen to set apart the most holy things, that he and his descendants would offer incense before Yahweh, to serve him and to give blessings in his name forever.
14 Àwọn ọmọ Mose ènìyàn Ọlọ́run ni wọ́n kà gẹ́gẹ́ bí apá kan ẹ̀yà Lefi.
But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were considered to be Levites.
15 Àwọn ọmọ Mose: Gerṣomu àti Elieseri.
Moses' sons were Gershom and Eliezer.
16 Àwọn ọmọ Gerṣomu: Ṣubaeli sì ni alákọ́kọ́.
Gershom's descendant was Shubael the oldest.
17 Àwọn ọmọ Elieseri: Rehabiah sì ni ẹni àkọ́kọ́. Elieseri kò sì tún ní ọmọ mìíràn, ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ọmọ Rehabiah wọ́n sì pọ̀ níye.
Eliezer's descendant was Rehabiah. Eliezer had no other sons, but Rehabiah had many descendants.
18 Àwọn ọmọ Isari: Ṣelomiti sì ni ẹni àkọ́kọ́.
Izhar's son was Shelomith the leader.
19 Àwọn ọmọ Hebroni: Jeriah sì ni ẹni àkọ́kọ́, Amariah sì ni ẹni ẹ̀ẹ̀kejì, Jahasieli sì ni ẹ̀ẹ̀kẹ́ta àti Jekameamu ẹ̀ẹ̀kẹrin.
Hebron's descendants were Jeriah, the oldest, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
20 Àwọn ọmọ Usieli: Mika ni àkọ́kọ́ àti Iṣiah ẹ̀ẹ̀kejì.
Uzziel's sons were Micah the oldest, and Ishijah the second.
21 Àwọn ọmọ Merari: Mahili àti Muṣi. Àwọn ọmọ Mahili: Eleasari àti Kiṣi.
Merari's sons were Mahli and Mushi. Mahli's sons were Eleazar and Kish.
22 Eleasari sì kú pẹ̀lú àìní àwọn ọmọkùnrin: Ó ní ọmọbìnrin nìkan. Àwọn ọmọ ẹ̀gbọ́n, àwọn ọmọ Kiṣi, sì fẹ́ wọn.
Eleazar died without having any sons. He had only daughters. The sons of Kish married them.
23 Àwọn ọmọ Muṣi: Mahili, Ederi àti Jerimoti mẹ́ta ni gbogbo wọn.
Mushi's three sons were Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth.
24 Àwọn wọ̀nyí sì ni ọmọ Lefi bí ìdílé wọn. Olórí ìdílé gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọ́n ti fi orúkọ sílẹ̀ lábẹ́ orúkọ wọn, ó sì kà wọn ní ẹyọ kọ̀ọ̀kan, wí pé, àwọn òṣìṣẹ́ tí ó jẹ́ ogún ọdún tàbí jù bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ tí ń ṣiṣẹ́ ìsìn nínú ilé Olúwa.
These were Levi's descendants corresponding to their clans. They were the leaders, counted and listed by name, of the clans that did the work in the service of Yahweh's house, from twenty years old and upward.
25 Nítorí pé Dafidi ti sọ pé, “Níwọ̀n ìgbà tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli, ti fi ìsinmi fún àwọn ènìyàn tí ó kù tí sì ń gbé Jerusalẹmu títí láéláé,
For David said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people. He makes his home in Jerusalem forever.
26 àwọn ọmọ Lefi kò sì tún ru àgọ́ tàbí ọ̀kankan lára àwọn ohun èlò tí wọ́n ń lò níbi ìsìn rẹ̀.”
The Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all the equipment used in its service.”
27 Gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọ̀rọ̀ ìkẹyìn Dafidi sí, àwọn ọmọ Lefi, wọ́n sì kà wọ́n, bẹ̀rẹ̀ láti orí àwọn ọmọ ogún ọdún tàbí jù bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ.
For by David's last words the Levites were counted, from twenty years old and upward.
28 Iṣẹ́ àwọn ọmọ Lefi ni láti ran àwọn ọmọ Aaroni lọ́wọ́ nínú iṣẹ́ wọn fún ti ilé Olúwa: láti wà lábẹ́ ìkáwọ́ agbára ìlú, àti ẹ̀gbẹ́ ilé, àti ìwẹ̀nùmọ́ ti gbogbo ohun ìyàsọ́tọ̀ àti ṣíṣe ohun tí í ṣe iṣẹ́ ìsìn nínú ilé Olúwa.
Their duty was to assist Aaron's descendants in the service of Yahweh's house. They were to care for the courtyards, the rooms, the ceremonial purification of all the things that belong to Yahweh, and other work in the service of God's house.
29 Wọ́n sì wà ní ìkáwọ́ àkàrà tí wọ́n mú jáde láti orí tábìlì, àti ìyẹ̀fun fún ẹbọ, àti àkàrà aláìwú, àti fún púpọ̀ àti èyí tí a pòpọ̀, àti gbogbo onírúurú ìwọ̀n àti wíwọ̀n àti òsùwọ̀n.
They also took care of the bread of the presence, the fine flour for grain offerings, the unleavened wafers, the baked offerings, the offerings mixed with oil, and all the measuring of the amounts and sizes of things.
30 Wọ́n sì gbọdọ̀ dúró ní gbogbo òwúrọ̀ láti dúpẹ́ àti láti yin Olúwa. Wọ́n sì gbọdọ̀ ṣe irú kan náà ní àṣálẹ́.
They also stood every morning to thank and praise Yahweh. They also did this in the evening
31 Àti láti rú ẹbọ sísun fún Olúwa ní ọjọ́ ìsinmi àti ní àsìkò oṣù tuntun àti ní àjọ̀dún tí a yàn. Wọ́n gbọdọ̀ sìn níwájú Olúwa lójoojúmọ́ ní iye tó yẹ àti ní ọ̀nà tí a ti pàṣẹ fún wọn.
and whenever burnt offerings were offered to Yahweh, on the Sabbath and at the new moon festivals and feast days. A fixed number, assigned by decree, always had to be present before Yahweh.
32 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni nígbà náà, àwọn ọmọ Lefi gbé ìgbékalẹ̀ jáde fún ìpàdé àgọ́, fún Ibi Mímọ́ àti, lábẹ́ àwọn arákùnrin àwọn ọmọ Aaroni fún ìsìn ilé Olúwa.
They were in charge of the tent of meeting, the holy place, and helped their fellow descendants of Aaron in the service of Yahweh's house.
