< 1 Chronicles 23 >
1 Nígbà tí Dafidi sì dàgbà, tí ó sì di arúgbó, ó sì fi Solomoni ọmọ rẹ̀ jẹ ọba lórí Israẹli.
When David was old and full of years, he installed his son Solomon as king over Israel.
2 Ó sì kó gbogbo àgbàgbà Israẹli jọ, àti gẹ́gẹ́ bí àwọn àlùfáà àti àwọn ará Lefi.
Then he gathered all the leaders of Israel, as well as the priests and Levites.

The Levites thirty years of age or older were counted, and the total number of men was 38,000.
4 Dafidi sì wí pe, ní ti èyí, ẹgbàá méjìlá ni kí wọn jẹ́ alábojútó iṣẹ́ ilé fún Olúwa àti ẹgbẹ̀rún mẹ́fà ni kí ó ṣe olórí àti onídàájọ́.
“Of these,” said David, “24,000 are to oversee the work of the house of the LORD, 6,000 are to be officers and judges,
5 Ẹgbàajì ni kí ó jẹ́ olùtọ́jú ẹnu-ọ̀nà àti ẹgbàajì ni kí o sì jẹ́ ẹni ti yóò máa yin Olúwa pẹ̀lú ohun èlò orin, mo ti ṣe èyí fún ìdí pàtàkì yìí.
4,000 are to be gatekeepers, and 4,000 are to praise the LORD with the instruments I have made for giving praise.”
6 Dafidi sì pín àwọn ọmọ Lefi sí ẹgbẹgbẹ́ láàrín àwọn ọmọ Lefi: Gerṣoni, Kohati àti Merari.
Then David divided the Levites into divisions according to the sons of Levi: Gershom, Kohath, and Merari.
7 Àwọn tí ó jẹ́ ọmọ Gerṣoni: Laadani àti Ṣimei.
The Gershonites: Ladan and Shimei.
8 Àwọn ọmọ Laadani Jehieli ẹni àkọ́kọ́, Setamu àti Joẹli, mẹ́ta ní gbogbo wọn.
The sons of Ladan: Jehiel the first, Zetham, and Joel—three in all.

And the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, Jeush, and Beriah. These were the sons of Shimei—four in all.
11 Jahati sì ni alákọ́kọ́ Sinah sì ni ẹlẹ́ẹ̀kejì, ṣùgbọ́n Jeuṣi àti Beriah kò ní àwọn ọmọ púpọ̀; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni wọ́n sì ka ara wọn sí ìdílé kan pẹ̀lú ìfilé lọ́wọ́ kan.
Jahath was the first and Zizah was the second; but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, so they were counted as one family and received a single assignment.
12 Àwọn ọmọ Kohati: Amramu, Isari, Hebroni àti Usieli mẹ́rin ni gbogbo wọn.
The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel—four in all.
13 Àwọn ọmọ Amramu. Aaroni àti Mose. A sì ya Aaroni sọ́tọ̀ òun àti àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ títí láéláé, láti kọjú sí ohun mímọ́ jùlọ, láti fi rú ẹbọ sísun níwájú Olúwa, láti máa ṣe òjíṣẹ́ níwájú rẹ̀ àti láti kéde ìbùkún ní orúkọ rẹ̀ títí láéláé.
The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. Aaron and his descendants were set apart forever to consecrate the most holy things, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister before Him, and to pronounce blessings in His name forever.
14 Àwọn ọmọ Mose ènìyàn Ọlọ́run ni wọ́n kà gẹ́gẹ́ bí apá kan ẹ̀yà Lefi.
As for Moses the man of God, his sons were named among the tribe of Levi.
15 Àwọn ọmọ Mose: Gerṣomu àti Elieseri.
The sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.
16 Àwọn ọmọ Gerṣomu: Ṣubaeli sì ni alákọ́kọ́.
The descendants of Gershom: Shebuel was the first.
17 Àwọn ọmọ Elieseri: Rehabiah sì ni ẹni àkọ́kọ́. Elieseri kò sì tún ní ọmọ mìíràn, ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ọmọ Rehabiah wọ́n sì pọ̀ níye.
The descendants of Eliezer: Rehabiah was the first. Eliezer did not have any other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very numerous.
18 Àwọn ọmọ Isari: Ṣelomiti sì ni ẹni àkọ́kọ́.
The sons of Izhar: Shelomith was the first.
19 Àwọn ọmọ Hebroni: Jeriah sì ni ẹni àkọ́kọ́, Amariah sì ni ẹni ẹ̀ẹ̀kejì, Jahasieli sì ni ẹ̀ẹ̀kẹ́ta àti Jekameamu ẹ̀ẹ̀kẹrin.

21 Àwọn ọmọ Merari: Mahili àti Muṣi. Àwọn ọmọ Mahili: Eleasari àti Kiṣi.
The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.
22 Eleasari sì kú pẹ̀lú àìní àwọn ọmọkùnrin: Ó ní ọmọbìnrin nìkan. Àwọn ọmọ ẹ̀gbọ́n, àwọn ọmọ Kiṣi, sì fẹ́ wọn.
Eleazar died without having any sons; he had only daughters. Their cousins, the sons of Kish, married them.
23 Àwọn ọmọ Muṣi: Mahili, Ederi àti Jerimoti mẹ́ta ni gbogbo wọn.
The sons of Mushi: Mahli, Eder, and Jeremoth —three in all.
24 Àwọn wọ̀nyí sì ni ọmọ Lefi bí ìdílé wọn. Olórí ìdílé gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọ́n ti fi orúkọ sílẹ̀ lábẹ́ orúkọ wọn, ó sì kà wọn ní ẹyọ kọ̀ọ̀kan, wí pé, àwọn òṣìṣẹ́ tí ó jẹ́ ogún ọdún tàbí jù bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ tí ń ṣiṣẹ́ ìsìn nínú ilé Olúwa.
These were the descendants of Levi by their families—the heads of families, registered individually by name—those twenty years of age or older who worked in the service of the house of the LORD.
25 Nítorí pé Dafidi ti sọ pé, “Níwọ̀n ìgbà tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli, ti fi ìsinmi fún àwọn ènìyàn tí ó kù tí sì ń gbé Jerusalẹmu títí láéláé,
For David had said, “The LORD, the God of Israel, has given rest to His people and has come to dwell in Jerusalem forever.
26 àwọn ọmọ Lefi kò sì tún ru àgọ́ tàbí ọ̀kankan lára àwọn ohun èlò tí wọ́n ń lò níbi ìsìn rẹ̀.”
So now the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the articles for its service.”
27 Gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọ̀rọ̀ ìkẹyìn Dafidi sí, àwọn ọmọ Lefi, wọ́n sì kà wọ́n, bẹ̀rẹ̀ láti orí àwọn ọmọ ogún ọdún tàbí jù bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ.
For according to the final instructions of David, the Levites twenty years of age or older were counted,
28 Iṣẹ́ àwọn ọmọ Lefi ni láti ran àwọn ọmọ Aaroni lọ́wọ́ nínú iṣẹ́ wọn fún ti ilé Olúwa: láti wà lábẹ́ ìkáwọ́ agbára ìlú, àti ẹ̀gbẹ́ ilé, àti ìwẹ̀nùmọ́ ti gbogbo ohun ìyàsọ́tọ̀ àti ṣíṣe ohun tí í ṣe iṣẹ́ ìsìn nínú ilé Olúwa.
but their duty was to assist the descendants of Aaron with the service of the house of the LORD, being responsible for the courts and chambers, the purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God,
29 Wọ́n sì wà ní ìkáwọ́ àkàrà tí wọ́n mú jáde láti orí tábìlì, àti ìyẹ̀fun fún ẹbọ, àti àkàrà aláìwú, àti fún púpọ̀ àti èyí tí a pòpọ̀, àti gbogbo onírúurú ìwọ̀n àti wíwọ̀n àti òsùwọ̀n.
as well as for the rows of the showbread, the fine flour for the grain offering, the wafers of unleavened bread, the baking, the mixing, and all measurements of quantity and size.
30 Wọ́n sì gbọdọ̀ dúró ní gbogbo òwúrọ̀ láti dúpẹ́ àti láti yin Olúwa. Wọ́n sì gbọdọ̀ ṣe irú kan náà ní àṣálẹ́.
They were also to stand every morning to give thanks and praise to the LORD, and likewise in the evening.
31 Àti láti rú ẹbọ sísun fún Olúwa ní ọjọ́ ìsinmi àti ní àsìkò oṣù tuntun àti ní àjọ̀dún tí a yàn. Wọ́n gbọdọ̀ sìn níwájú Olúwa lójoojúmọ́ ní iye tó yẹ àti ní ọ̀nà tí a ti pàṣẹ fún wọn.
Whenever burnt offerings were presented to the LORD on the Sabbaths, New Moons, and appointed feasts, they were to serve regularly before the LORD in the numbers prescribed for them.
32 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni nígbà náà, àwọn ọmọ Lefi gbé ìgbékalẹ̀ jáde fún ìpàdé àgọ́, fún Ibi Mímọ́ àti, lábẹ́ àwọn arákùnrin àwọn ọmọ Aaroni fún ìsìn ilé Olúwa.
So the Levites were to carry out the responsibilities for the Tent of Meeting and the Holy Place, and, under their brothers the descendants of Aaron, the service of the house of the LORD.
