< 1 Chronicles 21 >

1 Satani sì dúró ti Israẹli, ó sì ti Dafidi láti ka iye Israẹli.
Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to take a census of Israel.
2 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Dafidi sì wí fún Joabu àti àwọn olórí àwọn ènìyàn pé, “Lọ kí o ka iye àwọn ọmọ Israẹli láti Beerṣeba títí dé Dani. Kí o sì padà mú iye wọn fún mi wa, kí èmi kí ó le mọ iye tí wọ́n jẹ́.”
David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, “Go, count Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring me word, that I may know how many there are.”
3 Ṣùgbọ́n Joabu dá a lóhùn pé, “Kí Olúwa kí ó mú àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ pọ̀ sí ní ìgbà ọgọ́rùn-ún ju ti tẹ́lẹ̀ lọ, ọba olúwa mi, gbogbo wọn kì í ha ṣe ìránṣẹ́ olúwa ni? Kí ni ó dé tí olúwa mi ṣe fẹ́ ṣè yìí? Kí ni ó de tí yóò fi mú ẹ̀bi wá sórí Israẹli?”
Joab said, “May the LORD make his people a hundred times as many as they are. But, my lord the king, are not they all my lord’s servants? Why does my lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of guilt to Israel?”
4 Ṣùgbọ́n ọ̀rọ̀ ọba borí tí Joabu. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Joabu jáde lọ, ó sì la gbogbo Israẹli já, ó sí dé Jerusalẹmu.
Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Therefore Joab departed and went throughout all Israel, then came to Jerusalem.
5 Joabu sì fi àpapọ̀ iye àwọn ènìyàn náà fún Dafidi. Ní gbogbo Israẹli, ó sì jẹ́ ẹgbẹ̀rún ẹgbẹ̀rún àti ọ̀kẹ́ márùn-ún ènìyàn tí ń kọ́ idà, Juda sì jẹ́ ọ̀kẹ́ mẹ́tàlélógún lé ẹgbàárùn-ún ọkùnrin tí ń kọ́ idà.
Joab gave the sum of the census of the people to David. All those of Israel were one million one hundred thousand men who drew a sword; and in Judah were four hundred seventy thousand men who drew a sword.
6 Ṣùgbọ́n Joabu kó àwọn Lefi àti Benjamini mọ́ iye wọn, nítorí àṣẹ ọba jẹ́ ìríra fún un.
But he did not count Levi and Benjamin among them, for the king’s word was abominable to Joab.
7 Àṣẹ yìí pẹ̀lú sì jẹ́ búburú lójú Ọlọ́run, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó sì díyàjẹ Israẹli.
God was displeased with this thing; therefore he struck Israel.
8 Nígbà náà Dafidi sọ fún Ọlọ́run pé, èmi ti dẹ́ṣẹ̀ gidigidi nípa ṣíṣe èyí. Nísinsin yìí, èmi bẹ̀ ọ́, mú ìjẹ̀bi àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ kúrò. Èmi ti hùwà aṣiwèrè gidigidi.
David said to God, “I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing. But now put away, I beg you, the iniquity of your servant, for I have done very foolishly.”
9 Olúwa sì fi fún Gadi, aríran Dafidi pé.
The LORD spoke to Gad, David’s seer, saying,
10 “Lọ kí o sì wí fún Dafidi pé, ‘Báyìí ni Olúwa wí, èmi fi nǹkan mẹ́ta lọ̀ ọ́; yan ọ̀kan nínú wọn, kí èmi ó sì ṣe é sí ọ.’”
“Go and speak to David, saying, ‘The LORD says, “I offer you three things. Choose one of them, that I may do it to you.”’”
11 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Gadi tọ Dafidi wá, ó sì wí fún un pé, “Báyìí ni Olúwa wí: ‘Yan fún ara rẹ.
So Gad came to David and said to him, “The LORD says, ‘Take your choice:
12 Ọdún mẹ́ta ìyàn, tàbí ìparun ní oṣù mẹ́ta níwájú àwọn ọ̀tá rẹ, pẹ̀lú idà wọn láti lé ọ bá, tàbí ọjọ́ mẹ́ta idà Olúwa ọjọ́ àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn ní ilẹ̀ náà, pẹ̀lú àwọn angẹli Olúwa láti pa gbogbo agbègbè Israẹli run.’ Nísinsin yìí ǹjẹ́, rò ó wò, èsì wo ni èmi yóò mú padà tọ ẹni tí ó rán mi.”
either three years of famine; or three months to be consumed before your foes, while the sword of your enemies overtakes you; or else three days of the sword of the LORD, even pestilence in the land, and the LORD’s angel destroying throughout all the borders of Israel. Now therefore consider what answer I shall return to him who sent me.’”
13 Dafidi sì wí fún Gadi pé, “Ìyọnu ńlá bá mi. Jẹ́ kí èmi kí ó ṣubú sí ọwọ́ Olúwa nísinsin yìí, nítorí tí àánú rẹ̀ pọ̀ gidigidi, ṣùgbọ́n má ṣe jẹ́ kí èmi kí o ṣubú sí ọwọ́ àwọn ènìyàn.”
David said to Gad, “I am in distress. Let me fall, I pray, into the LORD’s hand, for his mercies are very great. Do not let me fall into man’s hand.”
14 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Olúwa rán àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn lórí Israẹli, àwọn tí ó ṣubú ní Israẹli jẹ́ ẹgbẹ̀rún ní ọ̀nà àádọ́rin ènìyàn.
So the LORD sent a pestilence on Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell.
15 Ọlọ́run sì rán angẹli kan sí Jerusalẹmu láti pa wọ́n run. Ṣùgbọ́n bí angẹli ti ń pa wọ́n run, Olúwa sì wò. Ó sì káàánú nítorí ibi náà, ó sì wí fún angẹli tí ó pa àwọn ènìyàn náà run pé, “Ó ti tó! Dá ọwọ́ rẹ dúró.” Angẹli Olúwa náà sì dúró níbi ilẹ̀ ìpakà Arauna ará Jebusi.
God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it. As he was about to destroy, the LORD saw, and he relented of the disaster, and said to the destroying angel, “It is enough. Now withdraw your hand.” the LORD’s angel was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
16 Dafidi sì wòkè ó sì rí angẹli Olúwa dúró láàrín ọ̀run àti ayé pẹ̀lú idà fífàyọ ní ọwọ́ rẹ̀ tí ó sì nà án sórí Jerusalẹmu. Nígbà náà Dafidi àti àwọn àgbàgbà, sì wọ aṣọ ọ̀fọ̀, wọ́n sì da ojú wọn bolẹ̀.
David lifted up his eyes, and saw the LORD’s angel standing between earth and the sky, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell on their faces.
17 Dafidi sì wí fún Ọlọ́run pé, “Èmi ha kọ́ ni mo pàṣẹ àti ka àwọn jagunjagun ènìyàn? Èmi ni ẹni náà tí ó dẹ́ṣẹ̀ tí ó sì ṣe ohun búburú pàápàá, ṣùgbọ́n bí ó ṣe ti àgùntàn wọ̀nyí, kí ni wọ́n ṣe? Èmí bẹ̀ ọ́ Olúwa Ọlọ́run mi, jẹ́ kí ọwọ́ rẹ kí ó wà lára mi àti àwọn ìdílé baba mi, ṣùgbọ́n má ṣe jẹ́ kí àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn yìí kí ó dúró lórí àwọn ènìyàn rẹ.”
David said to God, “Is not it I who commanded the people to be counted? It is even I who have sinned and done very wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand, O LORD my God, be against me and against my father’s house; but not against your people, that they should be plagued.”
18 Nígbà náà angẹli Olúwa náà pàṣẹ fún Gadi láti sọ fún Dafidi pé, kí Dafidi kí ó gòkè lọ, kí ó sì tẹ́ pẹpẹ kan fún Olúwa lórí ilẹ̀ ìpakà Arauna ará Jebusi.
Then the LORD’s angel commanded Gad to tell David that David should go up and raise an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
19 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Dafidi sì gòkè lọ pẹ̀lú ìgbọ́ràn sí ọ̀rọ̀ tí Gadi ti sọ ní orúkọ Olúwa.
David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the LORD’s name.
20 Nígbà tí Arauna sì ń pakà lọ́wọ́, ó sì yípadà ó sì rí angẹli; àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ mẹ́rẹ̀ẹ̀rin tí ó wà pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ pa ará wọn mọ́.
Ornan turned back and saw the angel; and his four sons who were with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.
21 Bí Dafidi sì ti dé ọ̀dọ̀ Arauna, Arauna sì wò, ó sì rí Dafidi, ó sì ti ibi ilẹ̀ ìpakà rẹ̀ jáde, ó sì wólẹ̀, ó dojúbolẹ̀ níwájú Dafidi.
As David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshing floor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.
22 Dafidi sì wí fún Arauna pé, “Jẹ́ kí èmi kí ó ni ibi ìpakà rẹ kí èmi kí ó sì lè tẹ́ pẹpẹ kan níbẹ̀ fún Olúwa, ìwọ ó sì fi fún mi ni iye owó rẹ̀ pípé, kí a lè dá àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn dúró lọ́dọ̀ àwọn ènìyàn.”
Then David said to Ornan, “Sell me the place of this threshing floor, that I may build an altar to the LORD on it. You shall sell it to me for the full price, that the plague may be stopped from afflicting the people.”
23 Arauna sì wí fún Dafidi pé, “Mú un fún ara rẹ, sì jẹ́ kí olúwa mi ọba kí ó ṣe ohun tí ó dára lójú rẹ̀. Wò ó, èmí yóò fún ọ ní àwọn màlúù fún ẹbọ sísun, àti ohun èlò ìpakà fún igi, àti ọkà fún ọrẹ oúnjẹ. Èmi yóò fun ọ ní gbogbo èyí.”
Ornan said to David, “Take it for yourself, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes. Behold, I give the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meal offering. I give it all.”
24 Ṣùgbọ́n ọba Dafidi dá Arauna lóhùn pé, “Bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́, ṣùgbọ́n èmi yóò rà á ní iye owó rẹ̀ ní pípé, nítorí èmi kì yóò èyí tí ó jẹ́ tìrẹ fún Olúwa, tàbí láti rú ẹbọ sísun tí kò ná mi ní ohun kan.”
King David said to Ornan, “No, but I will most certainly buy it for the full price. For I will not take that which is yours for the LORD, nor offer a burnt offering that costs me nothing.”
25 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Dafidi san ẹgbẹ̀ta ṣékélì wúrà fún Arauna nípa ìwọ̀n fún ibẹ̀ náà.
So David gave to Ornan six hundred shekels of gold by weight for the place.
26 Dafidi sì tẹ́ pẹpẹ fún Olúwa níbẹ̀ ó sì rú ẹbọ sísun àti ẹbọ ọpẹ́. Ó sì ké pe Olúwa, Olúwa sì fi iná dá a lóhùn láti òkè ọ̀run wá lórí pẹpẹ fún ẹbọ ọrẹ sísun.
David built an altar to the LORD there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called on the LORD; and he answered him from the sky by fire on the altar of burnt offering.
27 Nígbà náà Olúwa sọ̀rọ̀ sí angẹli, ó sì gbé idà padà bọ̀ sínú àkọ̀ rẹ̀.
Then the LORD commanded the angel, and he put his sword back into its sheath.
28 Ní àkókò náà nígbà tí Dafidi sì rí wí pé Olúwa ti dá a lóhùn lórí ilẹ̀ ìpakà ti Arauna ará Jebusi, ó sì rú ẹbọ sísun níbẹ̀.
At that time, when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
29 Àgọ́ Olúwa tí Mose ti ṣe ní aginjù, àti pẹpẹ ẹbọ sísun wà lórí ibi gíga ní Gibeoni ní àkókò náà.
For the LORD’s tabernacle, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering, were at that time in the high place at Gibeon.
30 Ṣùgbọ́n Dafidi kò lè lọ síwájú rẹ̀ láti béèrè lọ́wọ́ Ọlọ́run, nítorí tí ó bẹ̀rù nípa idà ọwọ́ angẹli Olúwa.
But David could not go before it to inquire of God, for he was afraid because of the sword of the LORD’s angel.
