< 1 Chronicles 19 >
1 Ní àkókò yí, Nahaṣi ọba àwọn ará Ammoni sì kú, ọmọ rẹ̀ sì rọ́pò rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ọba.
And it happened after this, that Nahash the king of the people of Ammon died, and his son Hanun reigned in his place.
2 Dafidi rò wí pé èmi yóò fi inú rere hàn sí Hanuni ọmọ Nahaṣi, nítorí baba a rẹ̀ fi inú rere hàn sí mi. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, Dafidi rán àwọn aṣojú lọ láti lọ fi ìbá kẹ́dùn rẹ̀ hàn sí Hanuni ní ti baba a rẹ̀. Nígbà tí àwọn ọkùnrin Dafidi wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ Hanuni ní ilẹ̀ àwọn ará Ammoni láti fi ìbá kẹ́dùn rẹ̀ hàn sí i.
David said, "I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me." So David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. David's servants came into the land of the people of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.
3 Àwọn ọkùnrin ọlọ́lá ti Ammoni sọ fún Hanuni pé, “Ṣé ìwọ rò pé Dafidi ń bu ọlá fún baba rẹ nípa rírán àwọn olùtùnú sí ọ? Ṣé àwọn ọkùnrin rẹ̀ wá sí ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ láti rìn wò àti láti bì í ṣubú, àti láti ṣe ayọ́lẹ̀wò ilẹ̀ náà.”
But the leaders of the people of Ammon said to Hanun, "Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Haven't his servants come to you to search, to overthrow, and to spy out the land?"
4 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Hanuni fi ipá mú àwọn ọkùnrin Dafidi, fá irun wọn, wọ́n gé ẹ̀wù wọn kúrò ní àárín ìdí rẹ̀, ó sì rán wọn lọ.
So Hanun took David's servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.
5 Nígbà tí ẹnìkan wá, tí ó sì sọ fún Dafidi nípa àwọn ọkùnrin rẹ̀, ó rán àwọn ìránṣẹ́ láti lọ bá wọn, nítorí wọ́n ti di rírẹ̀ sílẹ̀ gidigidi. Ọba wí pe, “Dúró ní Jeriko títí tí irùngbọ̀n yín yóò fi hù, nígbà náà ẹ padà wá”.
Then there went certain persons, and told David how the men were served. He sent to meet them; for the men were greatly ashamed. The king said, "Stay at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return."
6 Nígbà tí àwọn ará Ammoni sì ri pé wọ́n ti di ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ní ihò imú Dafidi, Hanuni àti àwọn ará Ammoni rán ẹgbẹ̀rún tálẹ́ǹtì fàdákà láti gba iṣẹ́ àwọn kẹ̀kẹ́ àti àwọn agun-kẹ̀kẹ́ láti Aramu-Naharaimu, Siria Maaka àti Soba.
When the people of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the people of Ammon sent one thousand talents of silver to hire them chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and out of Aram Maacah, and out of Zobah.
7 Wọ́n gba iṣẹ́ ẹgbẹ̀rin méjìlélọ́gbọ̀n kẹ̀kẹ́ àti agun-kẹ̀kẹ́ àti ọba Maaka pẹ̀lú àwọn ọ̀wọ́ ọmọ-ogun rẹ̀ tí ó wá pàgọ́ ní ẹ̀bá Medeba, nígbà tí àwọn ará Ammoni kójọpọ̀ láti ìlú wọn, tí wọ́n sì jáde lọ fún ogun.
So they hired for themselves thirty-two thousand chariots, and the king of Maacah and his people, who came and camped before Medeba. The people of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.
8 Ní gbígbọ́ eléyìí, Dafidi rán Joabu jáde pẹ̀lú gbogbo àwọn ọmọ-ogun ọkùnrin tí ó le jà.
When David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the army of the mighty men.
9 Àwọn ọmọ Ammoni sì jáde wá, wọ́n sì tẹ́ ogun ní ẹnu odi ìlú ńlá wọn, nígbà tí àwọn ọba tí ó wá, fún rara wọn wà ni orílẹ̀-èdè tí ó ṣí sílẹ̀.
The people of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the gate of the city: and the kings who had come were by themselves in the field.
10 Joabu ri wí pé àwọn ìlà ogun wà níwájú àti ẹ̀yìn òun, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni o mu àwọn ọmọ-ogun tí ó dára ní Israẹli, o sì tẹ́ ogun wọn sí àwọn ará Siria.
Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Arameans.
11 Ó fi ìyókù àwọn ọkùnrin náà sí abẹ́ àkóso Abiṣai arákùnrin rẹ̀, a sì tẹ́ wọn kí wọn dojúkọ àwọn ará Ammoni.
The rest of the people he committed into the hand of Abishai his brother; and they put themselves in array against the people of Ammon.
12 Joabu wí pé tí àwọn ará Siria bá le jù fún mi, nígbà náà, ìwọ ni kí o gbà mí; ṣùgbọ́n tí àwọn ará Ammoni bá le jù fún ọ, nígbà náà èmi yóò gbà ọ́.
He said, "If the Arameans are too strong for me, then you are to help me; but if the people of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will help you.
13 Jẹ́ alágbára kí ẹ sì jẹ́ kí a jà pẹ̀lú ìgboyà fún àwọn ènìyàn wa àti àwọn ìlú ńlá ti Ọlọ́run wa. Olúwa yóò ṣe ohun tí ó dára ní ojú rẹ̀.
Be courageous, and let us be strong for our people, and for the cities of our God. May Jehovah do that which seems good to him."
14 Nígbà náà Joabu àti àwọn ọmọ-ogun pẹ̀lú rẹ̀ lọ síwájú láti lọ jà pẹ̀lú àwọn ará Siria. Wọ́n sì sálọ kúrò níwájú rẹ̀.
So Joab and the people who were with him drew near before the Arameans to the battle; and they fled before him.
When the people of Ammon saw that the Arameans had fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.
16 Lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí àwọn ará Siria rí wí pé àwọn Israẹli ti lé wọn, wọ́n rán ìránṣẹ́. A sì mú àwọn ará Siria rékọjá odò Eufurate wá, pẹ̀lú Ṣofaki alákòóso ọmọ-ogun Hadadeseri, tí ó ń darí wọn.
When the Arameans saw that they were defeated by Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Arameans who were beyond the River, with Shobach the captain of the army of Hadadezer at their head.
17 Nígbà tí a sọ fún Dafidi nípa èyí, ó pe gbogbo Israẹli jọ wọ́n sì rékọjá Jordani; Ó lọ síwájú wọn, ó sì fa ìlà ogun dojúkọ wọ́n. Dafidi fa ìlà rẹ̀ láti bá àwọn ará Siria jagun wọ́n sì dojú ìjà kọ ọ́.
It was told David; and he gathered all Israel together, and passed over the Jordan, and came on them, and set the battle in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Arameans, they fought with him.
18 Ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ará Siria sálọ kúrò níwájú Israẹli, Dafidi sì pa ẹ̀ẹ́dẹ́gbàárin agun-kẹ̀kẹ́ wọn àti ọ̀kẹ́ méjì ọmọ-ogun ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀. Ó pa Ṣofaki alákòóso ọmọ-ogun wọn pẹ̀lú.
The Arameans fled before Israel; and David killed of the Arameans the men of seven thousand chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shobach the captain of the army.
19 Nígbà tí àwọn ẹrú Hadadeseri rí i wí pé Israẹli ti borí wọn, wọ́n ṣe àlàáfíà pẹ̀lú Dafidi, wọ́n sì ń sìn ní abẹ́ ẹ rẹ̀. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni, àwọn ará Siria kò ní ìfẹ́ sí ríran àwọn ará Ammoni lọ́wọ́ mọ́.
When the servants of Hadadezer saw that they were defeated by Israel, they made peace with David, and served him: neither would the Arameans help the people of Ammon any more.
