< 1 Chronicles 10 >
1 Nísinsin yìí, àwọn ará Filistini dojú ìjà kọ Israẹli, àwọn ará Israẹli sì sálọ kúrò níwájú wọn, a sì pa ọ̀pọ̀ wọn sí orí òkè Gilboa.
Now the Philistines warred against Israel; and they fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gelbue.
2 Àwọn ará Filistini sí lépa Saulu gidigidi àti àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀. Wọ́n sì pa àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀. Jonatani, Abinadabu àti Malikiṣua.
And the Philistines pursued after Saul, and after his sons; and the Philistines struck Jonathan, and Aminadab, and Melchisue, sons of Saul.
3 Ogun náà sí gbóná janjan fún Saulu, nígbà tí àwọn tafàtafà sì lé e bá, wọ́n sì ṣá a lọ́gbẹ́.
And the battle prevailed against Saul, and the archers hit him with bows and arrows, and they were wounded of the bows.
4 Saulu sì sọ fún ẹni tí ó gbé ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ pé, “Fa idà rẹ yọ, kí o sì fi gún mi, kí àwọn aláìkọlà wọ̀nyí má wá láti bú mi.” Ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó ń gbé ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ ń bẹ̀rù, kò sì le ṣe é, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Saulu mú idà tirẹ̀ ó sì ṣubú lé e.
And Saul said to his armour-bearer, Draw your sword, and pierce me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and mock me. But his armour-bearer would not, for he was greatly afraid: so Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.
5 Nígbà tí agbé-ìhámọ́ra rí pé Saulu ti kú, òhun pẹ̀lú ṣubú lórí idà tirẹ̀, ó sì kú.
And his armour-bearer saw that Saul was dead, and he also fell upon his sword.
6 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Saulu àti ọmọ rẹ̀ mẹ́tẹ̀ẹ̀ta kú, gbogbo ilé rẹ̀ sì kú ṣọ̀kan, lọ́jọ́ kan náà.
So Saul died, and his three sons on that day, and all his family died at the same time.
7 Nígbà tí gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Israẹli tí ó wà ní pẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ rí wí pé àwọn ọmọ-ogun ti sálọ àti pé Saulu àti àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ ti kú wọ́n kọ àwọn ìlú wọn sílẹ̀, wọ́n sì sálọ. Àwọn ará Filistini wá, wọ́n sì jókòó nínú wọn.
And all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, and they left their cities, and fled: and the Philistines came and lived in them.
8 Ní ọjọ́ kejì, nígbà tí àwọn ará Filistini wá láti kó òkú, wọ́n rí Saulu àti àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ tí wọ́n ṣubú sórí òkè Gilboa.
And it came to pass on the next [day] that the Philistines came to strip the slain, and they found Saul and his sons fallen on mount Gelbue.
9 Wọ́n bọ́ ní aṣọ, wọ́n sì gbé orí rẹ̀ àti ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀, wọ́n sì rán ìránṣẹ́ lọ káàkiri ilẹ̀ àwọn ará Filistini láti kéde ìròyìn náà láàrín àwọn òrìṣà wọn àti àwọn ènìyàn wọn.
And they stripped him, and took his head, and his armour, and sent them into the land of the Philistines round about, to proclaim the glad tidings to their idols, and to the people.
10 Wọ́n gbé ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀ sí inú ilé tí wọ́n kọ́ fún òrìṣà wọn, wọ́n sì fi orí rẹ̀ kọ́ sí inú ilé Dagoni.
And they put their armour in the house of their god, and they put his head in the house of Dagon.
11 Nígbà tí gbogbo àwọn olùgbé Jabesi—Gileadi gbọ́ gbogbo ohun tí àwọn ará Filistini ṣe fún Saulu,
And all the dwellers in Galaad heard of all that the Philistines had done to Saul and to Israel.
12 gbogbo àwọn akọni ọkùnrin wọn lọ láti mú àwọn ará Saulu àti àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀, wọ́n sì kó wọn wá sí Jabesi. Nígbà náà, wọ́n sin egungun wọn sábẹ́ igi óákù ní Jabesi, wọ́n sì gbààwẹ̀ fún ọjọ́ méje.
And all the mighty men rose up from Galaad, and they took the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabis, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabis, and fasted seven days.
13 Saulu kú nítorí kò ṣe òtítọ́ sí Olúwa, kò pa ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa mọ́ pẹ̀lú, ó tọ abókùúsọ̀rọ̀ lọ fún ìtọ́sọ́nà.
So Saul died for his transgressions, wherein he transgressed against God, against the word of the Lord, forasmuch as he kept [it] not, because Saul enquired of a wizard to seek [counsel], and Samuel the prophet answered him:
14 Kò sì béèrè lọ́wọ́ Olúwa, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Olúwa pa á, Ó sì yí ìjọba náà padà sọ́dọ̀ Dafidi ọmọ Jese.
and he sought not the Lord: so he killed him, and turned the kingdom to David the son of Jesse.
