< John 11 >
1 Vaba mutu wumosi wuba mbevo, dizina diandi Lazale. Niandi wuba muisi Betani, buala buba mvuandanga Maliya ayi khombꞌandi Malata.
Now a certain man, named Lazarus, of Bethany, was lying ill-- Bethany being the village of Mary and her sister Martha.
2 Maliya, niandi nketo wudukudila Pfumu Yesu malasi ma tsudi mu malu ayi wufiona mawu mu zitsuki ziandi. Lazale wuba kimbevo, wuba khomba yi bakala yi Maliya.
(It was the Mary who poured the perfume over the Lord and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was ill.)
3 Buna bakhomba bandi babaketo zituma mutu kuidi Yesu mu kunkamba: —Pfumu, tala mutu wowo weta zola wulembo bedi.
So the sisters sent to Him to say, "Master, he whom you hold dear is ill."
4 Vayi Yesu bu kawa bobo, wutuba: —Kimbevo kioki kilendi kumvonda ko, vayi kidi mu diambu di nkembo wu Nzambi muingi Muana Nzambi kakemboso mu kimbevo kioki.
Jesus received the message and said, "This illness is not to end in death, but is to promote the glory of God, in order that the Son of God may be glorified by it."
5 Muaki Yesu wuzola buwombo Malata, khombꞌandi yi nketo ayi Lazale.
Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 Vayi bu kawa ti Lazale wulembo bedi, wubuela vuanda bilumbu biodi va buangu kioki kaba.
When, however, He heard that Lazarus was ill, He still remained two days in that same place.
7 Bosi wukamba minlonguki miandi: —Tuvutukanu ku Yuda.
Then, after that, He said to the disciples, "Let us return to Judaea."
8 Vayi minlonguki miandi minkamba: —A Labi, keti ndambu kuandi yi bilumbu biviokidi, Bayuda bazola kuzuba matadi vayi buabu tidi kuaku buela vutuka ku Yuda!
"Rabbi," exclaimed the disciples, "the Jews have just been trying to stone you, and do you think of going back there again?"
9 Yesu wuba vutudila: —Muisi ko kumi zithangu zizole mu muini e? Enati mutu dieti va muini kalendi bumina thutu ko bila wulembo moni kiezila ki nza.
"Are there not twelve hours in the day?" replied Jesus. "If any one walks in the daytime, he does not stumble--because he sees the light of this world.
10 Vayi enati mutu wulembo diati va builu, buna maka bumina thutu, kiezila kisi ko mu niandi.
But if a man walks by night, he does stumble, because the light is not in him."
11 Bu kamanisa tuba mambu momo, buna wubuela diaka: —Nkundi eto lazale wulembo leki tulu vayi ndiedi mu kuenda nkotula.
He said this, and afterwards He added, "Our friend Lazarus is sleeping, but I will go and wake him."
12 Minlonguki mimvutudila: —Pfumu, enati lekidi tulu buna wela beluka.
"Master," said the disciples, "if he is asleep he will recover."
13 Muaki Yesu wuyolukila lufua luandi vayi bawu babanzila ti Yesu wuyolukila tulu toto tunlekongo.
Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought He referred to the rest taken in ordinary sleep.
14 Buna Yesu wuba sudikisa ti: —Lazale fuidi.
So then He told them plainly,
15 Vayi khini ndimmona mu diambu dieno bu ndikambu ba vawu muingi luwilukila. Vayi tuendano buabu ku kadi.
"Lazarus is dead; and for your sakes I am glad I was not there, in order that you may believe. But let us go to him."
16 Tona mutu wowo baba ntedilanga Didime, wukamba bakhomba bandi minlonguki: —Tuendano kuna mu diambu beto mamveto tufua yandi va kimosi.
"Let us go also," Thomas, the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, "that we may die with him."
17 Yesu bu katula, wuyenda bata buna Lazale weka bilumbu biya ku tsi ntoto.
On His arrival Jesus found that Lazarus had already been three days in the tomb.
18 Betani diba divula difikama ayi Yelusalemi, nduka-nduka bikilometele bitatu,
Bethany was near Jerusalem, the distance being a little less than two miles;
19 ayi Bayuda bawombo bayiza kuidi Malata ayi Maliya mu kuba bomba mu diambu di khombꞌawu wu bakala.
and a considerable number of the Jews were with Martha and Mary, having come to express sympathy with them on the death of their brother.
20 Malata bu kawa ti Yesu lembu yizi, wuyenda kundengana vayi Maiya wuba wuvuanda ku nzo.
Martha, however, as soon as she heard the tidings, "Jesus is coming," went to meet Him; but Mary remained sitting in the house.
21 Malata wukamba Yesu: —Pfumu, enati wubedi vava nganu khombꞌama kasi fua ko.
So Martha came and spoke to Jesus. "Master, if you had been here," she said, "my brother would not have died.
22 Vayi buabu nzebi kuama ti dioso kuandi diambu di wela lomba kuidi Nzambi, Nzambi wela kuvana diawu.
And even now I know that whatever you ask God for, God will give you."
23 Yesu wunkamba: —Khombꞌaku wela fuluka.
"Your brother shall rise again," replied Jesus.
24 Malata wumvutudila: —Nzebi ti wela fuluka mu lumbu kitsuka, batu bu bela fuluka.
"I know," said Martha, "that he will rise again at the resurrection, on the last day."
25 Vayi yesu wunkamba: —Minu ndidi mfulukulu ayi luzingu. Woso wukunguilukila, ka diambu ko wufua, wela zinga.
"I am the Resurrection and the Life," said Jesus; "he who believes in me, even if he has died, he shall live;
26 Woso wunzinga ayi wukunguilukila kalendi fua nkutu ko. Wilukidi mawu e? (aiōn )
and every one who is living and is a believer in me shall never, never die. Do you believe this?" (aiōn )
27 Malata wumvutudila: —Nyinga Pfumu, minu nguilukidi ti ngeyo Klisto, Muana Nzambi, wunkuiza va nza.
"Yes, Master," she replied; "I thoroughly believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world."
28 Bu kamana tuba mambu momo, Malata wuyenda tela mu kinsueki Maliya, khombꞌandi yinketo, mu kunkamba: —Maliya, Nlongi wizidingi, ngeyo kantela!
After saying this, she went and called her sister Mary privately, telling her, "The Rabbi is here and is asking for you."
29 Maliya bu katumbu wa Malata; wutelama mu nsualu ayi wuyenda kuidi Yesu.
So she, on hearing that, rose up quickly to go to Him.
30 Muaki buna Yesu kakikotidi ko mu buala, wuba kaka va buangu kioki Malata kayiza kundenginina.
Now Jesus was not yet come into the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met Him.
31 Bayuda bobo baba ayi Maliya mu nzo ayi bobo baba kumbomba, bu bamona ti Maliya wutumbu telama mu nsualu ayi wutotuka, buna banlandakana bila babanizla ti wedi ku biziami ku dila.
So the Jews who were with Mary in the house sympathizing with her, when they saw that she had risen hastily and had gone out, followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep aloud there.
32 Vayi Maliya wutula vaba Yesu, bu kammona buna wubua va malu mandi ayi wunkamba: —Pfumu, enati wubedi vava nganu khombꞌama kasi fua ko!
Mary then, when she came to Jesus and saw Him, fell at His feet and exclaimed, "Master, if you had been here, my brother would not have died."
33 Yesu bu kamona ti Maliya wulembo didi va kimosi ayi bayuda bobo babayandi, buna kiadi kingolo kimbuila mu ntima.
Seeing her weeping aloud, and the Jews in like manner weeping who had come with her, Jesus, curbing the strong emotion of His spirit,
34 Buna wuyuvula: —Kuevi luntudidi e? Bamvutudila: —Pfumu Yiza tadi.
though deeply troubled, asked them, "Where have you laid him?" "Master, come and see," was their reply.
36 Bayuda batuba: —A beno…, Tala phila yikanzodila!
"See how dear he held him," said the Jews.
37 Vayi bankaka mu bawu batuba: —Mutu wawu niandi wuzibula meso ma phofo, nganu kasi vanga ko diambumuingi mutu wawu kabika fua e?
But others of them asked, "Was this man who opened the blind man's eyes unable to prevent this man from dying?"
38 Yesu wuluta buela mona kiadi kiwombo mu ntima. Wuyenda ku biziami. Ziami beni kiba kisokolo mu ditadi. Va muelo vawu batula ditadi dinneni.
Jesus, however, again restraining His strong feeling, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone had been laid against the mouth of it.
39 Yesu wuba kamba: —Botulanu ditadi diodi. Malata, khomba yi mutu wufua, wunkamba: —Pfumu, weka kuiza tsudi bila kiaki kieka lumbu kinya tona kazikulu.
"Take away the stone," said Jesus. Martha, the sister of the dead man, exclaimed, "Master, by this time there is a foul smell; for it is three days since he died."
40 Yesu wunkamba: —Ndisi kukambanga ko ti mawumona nkembo wu Nzambi enati wilukidi e?
"Did I not promise you," replied Jesus, "that if you believe, you shall see the glory of God?"
41 Babotula ditadi. Yesu wuvumbula meso mandi ku diyilu, wutuba: —Tata, ndivutudidi matondo bila wukunguilanga.
So they removed the stone. Then Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, "Father, I thank Thee that Thou hast heard me.
42 Nzebi ti weta kunguila mu zithangu zioso, vayi enati ndintubila bobo mu diambu di nkangu wawu wunzungididi muingi bakikinina ti ngeyo wuthuma.
I know that Thou always hearest me; but for the sake of the crowd standing round I have said this--that they may believe that Thou didst send me."
43 Bu kamana tuba mambu momo, Yesu wuyamikina mau mbembo yingolo: —Lazale, totuka!
After speaking thus, He called out in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out."
44 Mutu wufua wutotuka, wuzingu bitendi-bitendi bi minledi mu mioko ayimu malu; zizi kiandi kifuku ku tsi nledi. Yesu wuba kamba: —Lunnianguna, lumbika kenda kuandi.
The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped in cloths, and his face wrapped round with a towel. "Untie him," said Jesus, "and let him go free."
45 Bawombo mu Bayuda bobo bayiza kuidi Maliya, bu bamona mambu momo mavanga Yesu, banwilukila.
Thereupon a considerable number of the Jews--namely those who had come to Mary and had witnessed His deeds--became believers in Him;
46 Vayi bankaka mu bawu bayenda bata Bafalisi ayi baba kamba mamo mavanga Yesu.
though some of them went off to the Pharisees and told them what He had done.
47 Buna bapfumu zi zinganga Nzambi ayi Bafalisi bakutakana mu lukutukunu lunneni ayi bakamba: —Mbi tufueti vanga e? Bila mutu wawu wulembo vangi bikumu biwombo.
Therefore the High Priests and the Pharisees held a meeting of the Sanhedrin. "What steps are we taking?" they asked one another; "for this man is performing a great number of miracles.
48 Beto kumbika ti kalembo kavanganga bobo, buna batu babo mabanwilukila. Buna basi Loma bela kuiza, bela tulula nzuꞌeto Nzambi ayi tsi eto.
If we leave him alone in this way, everybody will believe in him, and the Romans will come and blot out both our city and our nation."
49 Vayi wumosi mu bawu, dizina diandi Kayife, niandi wuba pfumu yi zinganga Nzambi mu mvu beni, wuba kamba: —A buna lusi zaba kadi kiasa ko e?
But one of them, named Caiaphas, being High Priest that year, said, "You know nothing about it.
50 Luisi zaba ko ti bulutidi mboti mutu wumosi kafua mu diambu di batu boso ayi tsi yoso yibika bungu!
You do not reflect that it is to your interest that one man should die for the people rather than the whole nation perish."
51 Kasia tuba mambu momo mu luzolo luandi veka ko. Vayi bu kaba pfumu yi zinganga Nzambi mu mvu beni, buna wubikula ti Yesu kafueti fua mu diambu di tsi andi.
It was not as a mere man that he thus spoke. But being High Priest that year he was inspired to declare that Jesus was to die for the nation,
52 Bika sia ti mu diambu di tsi kaka, vayi mu diambu di kutikisabana babo ba Nzambi bamana sasakana muingi bakituka mutu wumosi.
and not for the nation only, but in order to unite into one body all the far-scattered children of God.
53 Tona lumbu kina, bawizana va kimosi mu diambu bamvondisa.
So from that day forward they planned and schemed in order to put Him to death.
54 Diawu, Yesu kasi buela kukimonikisa ko va meso ma bayuda. Wubotuka kuna, wuyenda ku zunga kifikimini ayi dikanga, ku divuladibeti tedilanga Efalayimi. Wuvuanda kuna ayi minlonguki miandi.
Therefore Jesus no longer went about openly among the Jews, but He left that neighbourhood and went into the district near the Desert, to a town called Ephraim, and remained there with the disciples.
55 Pasika yi Bayuda yifikama batu bawombo baba mu mala bayenda ku Yeluzalemi tuamina Pasika yiba mu diambu di bakivedisa.
The Jewish Passover was coming near, and many from that district went up to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves.
56 Batomba Yesu. Ayi bu baba mu Nzo Nzambi bayuvasana bawu na bawu: —Buevi lumbanza e? Lummuena ti kalendi kuiza ko ku nyengo e?
They therefore looked out for Jesus, and asked one another as they stood in the Temple, "What do you think? --will he come to the Festival at all?"
57 Bapfumu zi zinganga Nzambi ayi Bafalisi bavana lutumunu muidi batu ti woso kuandi wunzaba kuidi Yesu, buna kafueti samuna muingi bankanga.
Now the High Priests and the Pharisees had issued orders that if any one knew where He was, he should give information, so that they might arrest Him.
